    Chile relleno quiche
    Valerie G.

I came here at a perfect time. Waitress was super duper sweet. I ordered the chile relleno quiche, and may I say "it was absolutely delicious!" I was getting full, but I was still shoving that spoon down my throat. Days after I still kept telling people about it . I really liked how clean and modern the layout was. This looks like a place I'd love to come here often.

I've been here multiple times for lunch and drinks. Kind of an odd location by airport and offices. Space is bright, airy and clean but not super huge. Service is ok, could be faster but I've never had any negative experience. The cocktails are phenomenal. I can't stress enough. Totally under the radar place for drinks. If only they were open on the weekends for some day-drinking. Food is great, however I don't care for the charcuterie board; it feels very grocery store-ish. I enjoy the turkey sandwich, Cesar salad and the soups. I also love the rotating specials they have. Everything is very fresh and simple. Great for a nice lunch with healthy options but also burger and fries if you want to indulge a bit. Aldo, house made potato chips are fantastic! Tons of parking and a cute little patio is a plus.

Cute spot on the 1st floor of an office building. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my friend and the food was decent. The Italian sandwich highlight was the soft bread and balsamic glaze. The chips were ok. Not as crispy as I would have liked. The bolognese was very cheesy without much sauce but good. Portions were on the lighter side so perfect for those on a diet haha. The lavender lemonade didn't really have much lavender flavor. It wasn't too sweet which was good. Overall the atmosphere is quaint and perfect for drinks. The cocktail menu looks delish.

Amazing food served by some of the friendliest people in Long Beach. Great for a weekday break. I can see this as a perfect spot for a business lunch. Extensive menu of fine cocktails. Cute decorations. Don't skip on the tomato soup!

This place has great food amazing service and is easy to talk because it's not too noisy. Mom likes to come here a couple times a month.

Hidden Gem! Excellent food with personable service! The hummus plate was delicious and the Chilaquiles was the best I have ever had. Their cocktail list also looks very tasty and they have my favorite Bourbon! I had just flown in for a meeting and was blown away by this place! Highly recommend!

Great service and nice ambiance. I wish I knew the waitress' name so I could give her a shout out. They had a dog friendly patio and they brought out water for my friend's pups I had the endive shrimp salad which was good, but it was a very light meal. Easy parking in the front This seems like a great place to get some work done or have a business meal/meeting It's literally a hidden gem

    Lavender Lemon Drop
    Dena T.

Came here one Friday after work with several co workers. Small restaurant with ample parking. Small and intimate restaurant. Modern decor is nice. Service and food was even better. For drinks, I ordered their Lavender Lemon Drop. It was very good and actually refreshing. My colleague mentioned they make their own lavender (don't quote me on that) and it definitely is good and refreshing. They have a lavender lemonade which I plan on ordering when opting for a non alcohol drink. For food, we ordered appetizers for the table: hummus, pepperoni and sausage flat bread [probably the best flat bread I ever had and it was devoured before I took a picture], chicken lettuces wraps, and spinach and artichoke dip. Everything was good! Service, food, and ambiance was on point. Would definitely return.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

Honestly thought it was the bar that we came inside. First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. Most recent time we went was when they had a guest bartender (Polo Chang). Some of the best cocktails I've had recently. I'm a huge fan of tea in cocktail his menu was amazing. We got way more drinks than we usually do that night because each one was better than the last. Only thing tho I really wish they kept their old menu. We sat at the bar, and I expected to receive service from the bartender, but he didn't acknowledge us for the entire night. Instead, our server took our order. After a while, she informed us that the crispy rice we ordered was sold out. She mentioned that the bartender was supposed to let us know, but he never did. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that the bartender seemed to be giving most of his attention to the Caucasian customers on the other side of the bar. We were the only Asian customers there, and unfortunately, this left us feeling like we were being treated differently because of our race. The good food and drinks helped compensate for the poor service, so we decided not to let it ruin our evening. However, things got even more disappointing at the end. After I paid, I noticed that I had been charged for the crispy rice even though we never received it. When our server tried to address the issue, the bartender appeared to ignore both her and us, so we eventually left. I hope management sees this review and reaches out to me to address the overcharge and the overall experience. Overall, although the food and drinks were good, the service and the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

My cousins and I got there around 9 p.m. on a Friday. It was steady, but when we went up for our first drinks the bar itself wasn't very busy--there were maybe two people in front of us and two behind us. I mention this because it matters for context. My cousin ordered two drinks, one for him and one for his girlfriend. We were talking and at some point I looked at his girlfriend's drink, which was already about halfway empty, and noticed a fairly large crack running across one side of the glass, right above where the remainder of her drink was. I said, "Hey, your glass has a significant crack in it," and she laughed it off and said she noticed and was just drinking from the other side. I told her she absolutely should not do that because there was already a chip near the rim and there could potentially be tiny pieces of glass in the drink. I also told her we needed to bring it to the bartender's attention because that's a legitimate safety issue. Someone who isn't paying attention could cut their lip or potentially ingest glass. By the time we went back up to the bar, it had gotten quite a bit busier. We explained what happened to the bartender and he asked if we got the drink there. We said yes and pointed out the female bartender who had originally served us. He asked what the drink was, walked away, served a few other people, and eventually brought us a replacement. We were completely patient. We understood that the bar was busier at this point, we weren't rude, and we weren't upset about having to wait. What bothered me was when he handed us the replacement and said, "Next time you need to let us know when it happens." That response really rubbed me the wrong way. It's not the customer's responsibility to inspect a glass before drinking from it, and obviously we would have said something sooner if we had noticed it sooner. Considering the bar wasn't particularly busy when the drink was originally made, I was also surprised that a crack that significant wasn't noticed before the glass was served. I did take a photo of the bartender afterward because I wanted to make sure I could identify the person involved when I brought the interaction to management's attention. I spoke with the person who identified himself as the manager and explained what happened. He said he would speak with the bartender, but the response also felt somewhat dismissive given that my concern was ultimately about customer safety and how the situation was handled. Accidents happen and glasses crack. Had the drink simply been replaced and the concern acknowledged appropriately, I honestly probably wouldn't be writing this review. It was the combination of being served a visibly cracked glass, being told that we should have notified them sooner, and then feeling like the concern wasn't taken particularly seriously when I brought it to management that ultimately prompted me to leave an honest review. Beautiful property and amazing view, but the way this situation was handled definitely left a bad impression.

Good spot for groups. Service was very friendly including our server and the hosts. I was impressed that when they brought all of our food out, there were multiple servers and they knew which dish belonged to whom in our party of 5. They have a wide variety of menu options. I ordered the lamb burger because it's not something you normally see on a restaurant menu. It was delicious! Everyone in our group really enjoyed their food. Looking forward to going back!

But every now and then, I will get the urge to go to a steak house only to realize, yes, I still rather have steaks at home and will put off going again for awhile. Our experience: When we walked in with no reservations and they said they only had tables available outside. Fine. When I asked if there were any tables available inside, I was told no due to them having a lot of reservations. Please keep in mind, there were plenty of tables/booths open. It had rained today and our table was still a little wet on the outer portion. Not a huge deal as we assumed it was just drops from the patio cover. A little after being seated, our server told us she had asked the manager and we would be able to sit inside but at this point we declined. We ate our meal and by the time we left, I noticed the restaurant was still pretty empty (maybe 4-6 parties). So what happened to all the reservations preventing us from being seated inside at the start? The serving staff were friendly and checked on us plenty of times without being overbearing. On to the food. We ordered the poke wraps, kids pasta, ribeye house butchered, and prime rib. My daughter said that the pasta did not have enough flavor and barely touched it. My wife said the ribeye was ok and it seemed to be cooked to the correct temp/doneness (med rare). My prime rib was honestly, pretty bland and over cooked. I ordered med rare it was more on the med side. Au jus was very light and didn't add much to my plate. The asparagus was cooked well but lacked salt. We all agreed that the best part of the meal were the garlic fries that came with my wife's steak and the poke wraps in a close second.
