I've been here multiple times for lunch and drinks. Kind of an odd location by airport and offices. Space is bright, airy and clean but not super huge. Service is ok, could be faster but I've never had any negative experience. The cocktails are phenomenal. I can't stress enough. Totally under the radar place for drinks. If only they were open on the weekends for some day-drinking. Food is great, however I don't care for the charcuterie board; it feels very grocery store-ish. I enjoy the turkey sandwich, Cesar salad and the soups. I also love the rotating specials they have. Everything is very fresh and simple. Great for a nice lunch with healthy options but also burger and fries if you want to indulge a bit. Aldo, house made potato chips are fantastic! Tons of parking and a cute little patio is a plus.

Cute spot on the 1st floor of an office building. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my friend and the food was decent. The Italian sandwich highlight was the soft bread and balsamic glaze. The chips were ok. Not as crispy as I would have liked. The bolognese was very cheesy without much sauce but good. Portions were on the lighter side so perfect for those on a diet haha. The lavender lemonade didn't really have much lavender flavor. It wasn't too sweet which was good. Overall the atmosphere is quaint and perfect for drinks. The cocktail menu looks delish.

Amazing food served by some of the friendliest people in Long Beach. Great for a weekday break. I can see this as a perfect spot for a business lunch. Extensive menu of fine cocktails. Cute decorations. Don't skip on the tomato soup!

Hidden Gem! Excellent food with personable service! The hummus plate was delicious and the Chilaquiles was the best I have ever had. Their cocktail list also looks very tasty and they have my favorite Bourbon! I had just flown in for a meeting and was blown away by this place! Highly recommend!

Great service and nice ambiance. I wish I knew the waitress' name so I could give her a shout out. They had a dog friendly patio and they brought out water for my friend's pups I had the endive shrimp salad which was good, but it was a very light meal. Easy parking in the front This seems like a great place to get some work done or have a business meal/meeting It's literally a hidden gem

Came here one Friday after work with several co workers. Small restaurant with ample parking. Small and intimate restaurant. Modern decor is nice. Service and food was even better. For drinks, I ordered their Lavender Lemon Drop. It was very good and actually refreshing. My colleague mentioned they make their own lavender (don't quote me on that) and it definitely is good and refreshing. They have a lavender lemonade which I plan on ordering when opting for a non alcohol drink. For food, we ordered appetizers for the table: hummus, pepperoni and sausage flat bread [probably the best flat bread I ever had and it was devoured before I took a picture], chicken lettuces wraps, and spinach and artichoke dip. Everything was good! Service, food, and ambiance was on point. Would definitely return.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

Honestly thought it was the bar that we came inside. First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

I chose HALO as I was hosting out of town guests in Long Beach, and have personally had quality care at numerous Fairmont locations across the globe. Thankfully, I had communications with said team member, but he still continuously monitored our group for house while at Halo, all the way to our reservation downstairs at the Sky Room. He was beyond crass and clearly didn't uphold the level of customer care experience most Fairmont establishments do across the globe. One bright spot was the bartender Roberto--he was a masterful mixologist and had a wonderfully kind personality that radiated to all customers. He is a gem and should be acknowledged for his level of professionalism and top-tier talents. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting again nor recommending it to others.

Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was excellent, but Nate's service really made our night special, making us feel right at home.
