This place is terrible. They have one cashier using 2registers to check people out. They have to go back and forth and you have to wait even though you were there before the other person. I hit something wrong on the card reader and I asked the cashier to cancel it so I could start over and she said she couldn't. They need to hire more help. Avoid this place. read more

I love this store. It is bright, well stocked and organized. Huge selection of everything from makeup to a whole isle of candy!! Paper goods, cards, promotional items,huge selection of medicinal items, nice pharmacy and an area for blood pressure. The staff is nice and I can find literally everything here that a drug store offers. Of course they still have the ice cream counter, a MUST to associate with the last of the best old school drug store offerings. Always something fun to check out for seasonal items. The customer service at the pharmacy is horrible given that this is where they get the bulk of their revenue. I do not have a lot of faith in this location or in Rite-Aid, in general. It's a sad CVS "knock-off" but it's what we have for us locally. I usually go to the CdM store which provides a somewhat better experience but still pales in comparison to CVS--which is just too far to go to regularly. This pharmacy is horrid!! We dropped off a new Rx (at this time I requested a specific manufacturer and was told they had it) and refilled two others...we're told it would be a 30 minute wait. We returned 55 minutes later and were told, "It's almost done, label has been printed and it just needs a final approval. Pls wait a few minutes." So we sat and waited. 10 mins pass and my Mom goes up to ask if the Rx was ready. They tell us "5 more minutes!" 10 more minutes pass and they call my name - but make us wait in the three person long line to help us. Finally - an hour and 25 mins after we gave them the Rx - we get to the counter to check out. The Rx we asked for a specific manufacturer on was NOT done correctly and was filled with another manufacturer! We point this out and say it was requested when I dropped off the Rx (As well as previously when a note was supposedly put in their system.) - we got a blank stare. He goes in the back to the pharmacist to relay the problem. He returns and says it will take awhile to fix, he'll call us when it's done! OK fine - I'm so ready to go home at this point especially being 2 weeks post op from major surgery. We get a call over 2 hours later to say it's ready and 'We've put a note in the computer for next time.' My mom goes over there and THEY CANNOT FIND MY PRESCRIPTION!!!!! It took 10 minutes of searching by the staff, then the pharmacist steps in and they finally find it (15 mins after walking in - for the THIRD time, btw!). I won't even go into the MANY other people not getting help while we were there...people dropping off their Rx 3 days prior and not having them ready when they show up, a new mom w a crying infant who was waiting the entire time we were there for trips one and two, etc, etc, etc! That was my family's FINAL time at the pharmacy side of Rite Aid...what a joke of a pharmacy!! (My patronage in the other areas of this Rite Aid have usually been good - friendly staff, clean store and they have a really great greeting card section.) read more

This place always has the longest lines. It is really low on staff at all times for the amount of people that frequent it. I feel like they really underperform on customer service. If it was not so conveniently located right by where I live, I honestly would not go there ever again. They really need to hire more people. I am tired of waiting in long lines. read more

The service at this Rite Aid location is unacceptable. I've witnessed the cashiers being incredibly disrespectful by arguing with customers and sliding change off of the counter. In addition to the poor customer service, every electronic item that I've purchased from this Rite Aid location has broken within a month. My advice is that you you don't come here because it is the living hell. read more

The pharmacist here was really unbelievably rude. A petite asian woman behind the counter claimed that only prescriptions from MDs in Newport Beach were accepted there. Really? Maybe they should realize this policy amounts to discrimination. Well to start I've been going to Rite Aid in Newport Beach for over a year now. Usually my experience is always decent. Newport is the type of place if you're not dressed a certain way or not driving a certain type of car that people automatically judge you and I understand that. I'm not someone who is born and raised here. But I do live here currently but not for long. My experience at the pharmacy there has always been quite a hassle. I go there for serious meds for my illness. The pharmacist Naggy has always spoken to me in a very demeaning way. There's also a pharmacy tech named Agee honestly I don't know how to say her name exactly, but every time I walk up to the counter she gives who I'm talking to to a look. Then they start laughing every single time. I'm warning you if you have an illness and you act any type of way in there that's not the way you that they think you should act that they're going to treat you like your crap. I would have given this place five stars honestly because all the other people that work there are awesome. There's also a guy named Ernest that works at the pharmacy that when I ask for my meds he treats me like a drug addict ,like I don't know what I'm talking about and that I've never been there before. As I've been going there for over a year now. I'm so furious and I've seen them treat other customers the same way. I'm warning anybody who needs to get mood stabilizers or any type of meds to help depression or anything to not go there because they make you feel like crap. I'm not sure how it's allowed but it's Newport Beach so everyone has a chip on their shoulder. Basically this review it is mostly on the pharmacy. My experience buying other products there has been great and they always have a great attitude at the cashier's counter and when you need questions answered. She's like a ninja flying between registers as she's trying to ring two customers simultaneously to keep the line moving. She actually cares about her job. For merchandise, customer service and store layout, I would absolutely give this Rite Aid 5 stars! But the pharmacy makes me feel like I am a transaction - one of so so many. When you don't feel well or are picking up a prescription after work, the last thing you want to do is wait in a long line only to be greeted by a person who doesn't smile or look you in the eye. I honestly sometimes feel they wish they didn't have so many customers! I will go to Rite Aid for nail polish and makeup (great selection!) but I will never again stand in a long line for the pharmacy on edge about my sick child at home. read more

Give them my prescription. They tell me to come back in an hour. I come back the next day and wait 30 minutes to find out the prescription hasn't been filled and they are waiting for the dr to approve. This is not a controlled substance prescription. What a freaking joke! read more

I have been coming to this pharmacy for 3 years now. I used to buy my medications at Costco, But they were very slow and not cheaper. I have been impressed how well-managed the pharmacy is. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The manager, Robert, is extremely helpful and polite. I have not been to any other pharmacy for two years now. read more

literally don't even bother; ESPECIALLY do not rely on them for your medications..... the pharmacy is AWFUL. I've never ever dealt with people more incompetent and careless when it comes down to the medications I NEED on a monthly basis. The pharmacist has never agreed to accept a refill even though it says on my bottles that there are refills ready on specific dates. They don't pay attention to the flaws in their system until I'M the one who has to catch them, which leads to mistakes (yes I'm aware mistakes can happen) but they always just say "oh sorry" and never have made the effort to improve. It would totally be different if their demeanor was more positive and helpful as well. They just seem to not care about their job. I don't ever write reviews and I don't mean for this to come across as a rant, but OH MY GOD RITE AID PHARMACY PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET YOUR SHI*T TOGETHER. It makes me so upset to see other people reviewing and saying the same exact thing. We're switching pharmacies anyways because the pharmacist there literally doesn't know what she's doing half the time it seems, and I just really don't want people experiencing what I'm going through when it comes to consistency of getting my medications on time. To any of you that are debating using rite aid at san miguel's pharmacy, I'm literally begging you to not put yourself through the stress that I've gone through for years with them. The other reviews for this Rite Aid location are correct, avoid going to this place if possible. I go here from time to time because it is conveniently located near my work. If it wasn't for that, I would go to my favorite Rite Aid store which is Bayside (review for this location to come soon). I am a frequent customer of Rite Aid and this location has probably the worst customer service cashiers. Don't get me wrong, there are some like Linda that are awesome. However, I have had a few encounters with one of the cashiers named Malu. She knows I'm a frequent customer and a few days ago she said something to me that was offensive; to cover herself though from that comment, she threw in a "just joking". Another incident that happened recently with Malu is that she asking about my personal information, totally caught me off guard when she asked but the more I thought about it I thought in my mind "this is none of her business." This store is currently going through a remodel, while it should also look into a "remodel" of their employees. read more

Tried (once again...) to deal with pharmacy. Called when they opened at 8:00am. Went through the whole phone thing of press this button then press that button 4 TIMES because the wait to talk to a pharmacist each time was so long Rite Aid just kept dropping the call (also, please get rid of the 10-15 seconds of screaming loud music). I would have to call back and go through the whole thing again... PLEASE RITE AID CORPORATE - SUCH BAD SERVICE FOR SO LONG AND MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING - HELP THEM GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!!! In the meantime, I'm off to another pharmacy - a longer drive but with better service. read more

I usually have to call multiple times to get someone to pick up even though I was told to call the pharmacy to see if my prescriptions were in. Couldn't find me in system. Didn't have enough info from my doctor after prescription was phoned in but didn't call the office back. Told me they would call to let me know when prescription was ready but they never did. When I called to check hours later, they were like "well you have some here ready for pick up." read more

Come in for ice cream and pharmacy pick up. Big mix up with my med and pick up. Waste my time to with the staff. Will transfer my med to other location. Also, the regular line for check out was horrendous. The staff didn't have a care in the world, just stand around to gossip with each other. read more
