I live in a neighborhood nearby. We moved to Aurora, IL about 9 years ago. The day we moved in, we decided to go check this place out for it's margaritas specifically. 9 years later we're still coming back, at least once a week for more than just margaritas. The staff is genuine, hilarious, and you can tell they actually do enjoy their jobs. The owner Rito is pleasant, always has a smile on his face, and loves his customers. This is a well kept secret in our community, a place we all cherish. I love it here, and would recommend it to everyone. read more

In the Chicago area there are many good Mexican restaurants, and that is just what this is, a Good Mexican restaurant. The food is the standard fare, nothing really jumping off the menu as a specialty that would have you go out of your way to go there. They do have a pushcart that goes from table to table making fresh guacamole which is a nice touch. Rito's has drink specials and my wife enjoys their frozen Margaritas. On a Friday or a Saturday expect a 30 to 45 minute wait for a table. read more

Rito's is a great venue. Fun atmosphere and splendid drinks. My favorite dishes are the Acapulco Combo, steak tacos and fajitas. The margaritas are fantastic. The only drawback I have with this most recent visit, and this most recent visit only (on 5/5 of course) was the service. They were severely understaffed for the day that all of us gringos celebrate. We waited at least 20 minutes to get drinks, and so on and so on. had to get drinks myself from the bar. other than this one little blip from Rito's everything else was A+++. read more

Their food is good. However the customer service needs work. I've ordered from them over the phone previously but when I tried to call tonight to make an order they decided to not pick up the phone. I thought perhaps her phones were broken, but no. I went in to ask him what was going on and let them know and they said they were taking orders over the phone tonight. To be clear, this is crap. At least have the common courtesy to pick up the phone and let us know that you need to come in to make an order. Better yet just don't do orders over the phone anymore. How was any customer supposed to know that you weren't taking orders over the phone right now. This is very irritating. read more

I went her on a Thursday night with work friends and I've gotta give this place credit for the effort. For a corner of a strip mall location, they really are trying to be unique. Lively atmosphere in a good-sized location. We just had chips, salsa and appetizers, but they were good. Having someone go around to offer table side guacamole is a great idea. Much easier to sell that with a cart of fresh ingredients at the edge of the table than trying to describe it on the menu. The drinks were good as well. Some at the table got the flaming margarita and that was a nice, festive touch. Drink prices were very reasonable and didn't necessarily appear to be on special ($3 for a bottle of all of the main Mexican beers). A good place for this sort of gathering-the entrees looked just o.k. but I'll give it another try one of these days. read more

I have come here a bit since moving to the area and the food quality has always been great. The staff are friendly, allowing me to sample the infamous margarita, and even though they don't know my name, there's a facial recognition there that I haven't had in a while. The table side guacamole isn't a new concept but Ritos does it well. I haven't personally seen a slip in service quality between when it is busy and not, but would hope that others who do just try to be patient as when the food does arrive it will be worth it. Be sure to try the flaming margarita, the steak fajita and the fish tacos. These three items are great standby items. Bonus: if you come here and the bears game is on, you'll be sure to make friends with the fans that come just to watch. Same with the Hawks and the Cubs...they represent and hard! read more

Friendly little restaurant. My son has wanted to try this place forever, so we gave it a whirl. Started with chips and salsa with a side of guacamole. Nice that the make the guacamole table side fresh and to-order. We ordered it medium spicy. Could have definitely kicked up another notch or two for us. Salsa was decent. Chips were good. Also tried the horchata to wash down the apps. Good also. I opted for tostadas as my entree. One chicken, and one al pastor. My son ordered fajitas with steak and shrimp. I thought the tostadas were too loaded down with toppings. Made it nearly impossible thy o pick it up and eat it. I also felt they a bit bland to the taste. My son enjoyed the fajitas, but I didn't try yhem. Service was attentive....almost overly attentive; twice the busboy tried to remove plates that were needed to finish eating. There was definitely a smoky smell coming from the kitchen that lingered throughout the meal. Overall it okay. Not great. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I were in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there. read more

Been here a few times, to dine in and carry out. The times I had been there the only thing that impressed me were the margaritas. My bf and I decided to give them another try since I live down the street and see that this place is always busy and I read good the Yelp reviews. We went on a friday night and it was very busy. Hostess said 25 min wait. We decided to go to the bar and ordered margaritas. I had a regular frozen margarita and I must say that I liked it better on the rocks. We waited for maybe 15 min and then were seated. Water and chips and 2 different kinds of salsa were brought over right away. The salsas were ok, one was spicy and the other medium. We waited about 10 min for our waiter to come take our order. We were ok with that because it gave us time to look through the menu. I ordered the Bistec Cazuela which was chopped steak with onions, tomatoes and green peppers. My bf had the combination fajitas. We were both very pleased with our food. My dish was perfect, the steak was tender and very flavorful. The rice was good too. We didn't get the table side guacamole but it looked good and the guy was super friendly and entertaining. I am so glad that I gave them another try. I will for sure go back. I'm already craving the bistec. I would have given 5 stars but the server was not very attentive. Everyone is aware of Taco Tuesday right? Well, I am a believe in Taco Monday, Taco Tuesday, Taco Wednesday and so forth. Tacos all the time. No need to discriminate tacos on a certain date. Which finally leads me to come to Ritos. I have heard about this location by multiple people and they all claim Ritos is the best for Mexican food and the best for margaritas. It was finally time to test that statement. The location is kinda small and it was nearly full at 6pm. The parking seems ample since its in a little shopping strip. Right upon seating, we were asked for the drinks. I tried the Pina Colada and banana margaritas. They were good and they did the job of giving a nice little buzz (especially if you go for the large fishbowl ones) but I wasnt a fan of them. Nothing against them but I prefer mine to have a little more "flavoring". There were strong with booze but it was a touch bland for my taste. After a few minutes, the table was served with chips and two types of salsa. A red one and a green one. My entire table couldn't agree which was more spicy. Based on my taste buds, the red had a nice little kick and the green was more mild. Both had good flavor but luckily, in my group, no one but me was a fan of spicy foods so it was all mine. As we were waiting on the food, a nice man showed up with table side guacamole. He asked if anyone wanted him to make one and we said sure. Then he asked the level of spiciness. Sadly, as mentioned earlier, no one likes spicy so we took a mild guac. But overall, it was delicious and I do recommend this to others. Now, back unto dinner. It took a very long time for the waiter to return to take our orders. I think we have been waiting for around 30 minutes to an hour until our order was taken (which made it feel like it took forever for the food to arrive but I dont think we waited as long). I choose the Tacos Al Pastor. They had a few specials like the Quesadilla Grande which comes in a green tortilla which spinach and mushrooms. After waiting, what felt like forever, the food arrived. I tasted the refried beans and I will admit... they were delicious. So, I tried the other side which contained the rice and they were equality delicious. I know what you are thinking... its just refried beans and mexican rice but let me tell you that I have had my share of mexican food all around the world and Ritos had some of the best sides that I have ever had. They dont give you a lot, probably because its very bad for you because it tastes so food. However, with everything good... there has to be some bad. The Taco Al Pastor. They were good and it had plenty of meat. The meat was marinated well and had some very good hints of spices and sweetness/pineapple and some onions (i think). The taco itself was done the traditional Mexican way with cilantro and onions. But... they do lose points with not having the traditional Al Pastor cooked on a spit so you will get some char and some soft pieces. This is the one thing I miss from the city of Chicago or any other authentic Mexican joint. I want my al pastor from a spit which gives it a very nice char. With a place this busy and this amazing food...I dont know why they dont go that route. I am sure they must have a grill in back.. grill it if you must. Do something... something... to char the pork. Who knows.. maybe I am wrong and they do. But I saw and tasted nothing like that in my taco. Overall, the food and the atmosphere is one, if not thee best, Mexican places I have been to at this current time. I might just get a different drink next time and although my al pastor had no char... it was still a very delicious meal and it hit the spot in all the right places. read more

This place was great! Everything was fresh, service was impeccable and prices were totally fair. My glass of water was never once less than half full. They didn't have veggie fajitas on the menu but when I asked if they could make it for me they were so kind and accommodating. The beans are wonderful and not overly salty or watery. You can tell they take pride in the food they serve. My daughter loved her nachos. My husband said his chicken enchiladas were really good too! I tried the enchilada sauce and it might be the best I've ever had a restaurant. So glad we found this place, we will definitely be going back! read more

You have one or two guys taking orders and refilling drinks and they are super inattentive and slow. the burrito ala carte i ordered was soggy and dripping in grease,again. it took 13 mintes to get one burrito on a lunch break The burrito had little chunks of carrot and rice. i figured i would give them another chance. Chips are good but they give you 2 little watery cups of salsa ,more like a sauce that wont hold on the chips and runs down your shirt. My guess is customers go here for the cheap alcoholic drinks and because there are few mexican restaurants nearby. read more

Called back after confirming with someone that had ordered a to-go margarita that they ordered from their and they hung up on me. When I went in, I saw 8 margaritas walk out. Don't eat here unless you want to get COVID! Food is just OK - not worth getting sick or spreading COVID. When we entered, I noticed the wait staff was wearing masks so I felt pretty comfortable. Sadly, this was all a farce which we didn't discover until after our meal. During our meal I noticed the young bus boy had his mask down around his chin the entire time, even while refilling water glasses at the tables. I stopped at the counter to address the bus boy's behavior and I could see into the kitchen (they have a cutout window) and the cooks who prepared our food were not wearing masks at all! I commented on the bus boy and the cooks not wearing masks and the person at the counter had nothing to say. They just don't care that they could be spreading COVID. It's sad :-( read more

Drinks are reasonably priced guacamole made table side was very good waiter was very attentive. Food was delish!! had the Carne Asada was well seasoned beans and rice were like grandma used to make. Wife had a variety plate called a Pinata was very good with generous portions. The margarita was amazing, best in town! When we first started frequenting Rito's, we went at least once every few weeks for several years. This was our staple! Towards the end, we started noticing a change in the business and quality...I withheld updating my review because I thought it was just a few bad experiences. But now it's been one too many. We visited this Monday and it was likely the last time we'll go. It's a sad realization, because we truly loved Rito's but Monday's experience was just horrible. Long story short: it was a MONDAY night but you'd have thought it was a Friday. Two servers for the entire restaurant. We waited over an HOUR for our meal from when we ordered it. We ordered an appetizer - asked for AN order of guacamole. When it was delivered, there were two cups of guac and we assumed one order was just split up - nope...the server took it upon himself to order us TWO apps and charge us for two as well. He also delivered the guac but no chips...and we sat for 20 minutes waiting for chips. My husband's meal was also incorrect. Very disappointing service. Our server was clearly frustrated and rushed but other than an apology, we got nothing. This is a situation where a manager comes out or we're given a cheap dessert for free. We saw other tables walk in after us, and leave before we even received our meal. Adios, Rito's. It's been real. read more

Wow, I am amazed at the level of negativity people are giving the service here. We dine here about once a week (different days too) and never have I had a problem with service. I guess people are expecting that a Mexican restaurant should serve you as fast as a Taco Bell. Well guess what, everything is made from scratch and cooked to order. I have never had a bad meal here and I couldn't care less about the length of time it takes to get my food, I am out to enjoy myself and relax. If you want fast cheap service, go to Taco Bell and leave the good places to those that will enjoy them. As has been said, a lot, Thursday night is Margarita night. Definitely a good time to see the place packed. If you are uncomfortable in crowded restaurants or expect them to treat you like you are their only customer, don't go on Thursday night. I have had the Skirt Steak, awesome, the Quesadillas, wonderful, tacos and tostadas, excellent and the two salsa (red or green), delicious. OMG, this place is nasty, awful and a complete waste ot your time. No Service, No Taste, No Value. Seated at a table against the wall. The bench seats on the wall are 6" too high so that peoples thighs were against the bottom of the table. We should have left right then and there. 10+ minutes to place a drink order, 15+ more to get an entree in, 7+ more to have table-side guacamole (not bad, but tiny). 15+ more to to get the order. 4 top set with 3 plates and glasses. Waiters had to be flagged down for water, salsa, everything. The guacamole consisted of 1, yes, 1 medium avocado for a table of 4 people to the tune of $6.95. You're kidding right? I had the sample plate and couldn't believe how bad EVERYTHING was. They tore the taco making it, so just added another tortilla around the outside instead of starting over. The mini chimichanga was literally 2 inches long and I had to search for any filling. The Tamale was also nothing but corn masa. The enchilada was barely filled with dry, tasteless chicken. The Chile Relleno was the absolute worst I have ever had. No taste, bad cheese, soggy breading. The rice was dry and tasteless while the refried beans were not even as good as the junk in the cans. Another at our table had the mole chicken, and while the chicken was moist, the mole was way too sweet and straight out of a jar. Finally, the $9.00 medium margaritas were short on cheap tequila and long on Kool-aid margarita mix. If you like these, you have never had a real margarita. They cleaned up our 1/4-1/2 eaten plates and never even asked if we wanted to take it home... they obviously knew better. Again, nasty nasty nasty. Good Mexican food in Naperville is as rare as a Naperville SUV without stupid family stick figure stickers. Trust me, that's rare. Rito's is really good Mexican food. I won't say great, because I've gotten a couple of dishes that didn't wow, but by and large, I appreciate the restaurant as a whole. One of the best parts is the tableside guacamole service. As soon as you sit down, a young guy shows up and asks if you'd like guacamole. Say yes. He makes a mean guacamole customized to your tastes (mild or hot, onion, no onion) and is very friendly and talkative. FYI, he's a college kid studying accounting. Tip him and support education. The other best part is the two brothers who run the place. These guys know how to create customer loyalty. Everytime we visit, they both stop by, shake our hands, tell my wife she looks lovely (making my day better) and make sure the food is good. If I ever owned a restaurant, I'd want guys like this managing the floor. The margaritas are pretty good. Not the best i've had, but they come in big glasses, aren't obscenely expensive and get the job done. However, I advise caution on getting the golden margarita which is the usual margarita with a flaming shot of Cointreau. This drink is friggin' delicious. And considering it has that extra kick of alcohol, it's also deadly serious. I only discovered this one night when, not paying full attention, I drank two and ended up taking a cab home and falling asleep (see: "pass out") on the bedroom floor. There are other details that are hazy and better left undiscussed. Try the hangar steak. Love it. They used to have Norteno Tacos with a bacon-chile sauce that was fantastic, but it's been off the menu for awhile. Hoping they bring it back. My wife orders the veggie burrito and loves it everytime. The beans and rice are eh, but then again, these dishes aren't exactly expensive, either. Ritos is in a strip mall on 83 just west of 59. I wouldn't have stopped here if I hadn't been recommended on a few occasions. The inside is nothing special and the bar really needs to be rehabbed. If they had a remodeled bar that was more friendly to socializing, they'd be kicking serious tail. If you're going there with 2-4 people, you probably don't need a reservation on most occasions, but if it's a larger group, it wouldn't hurt. read more

Judgemental and rude rude rude. I went in there and nobody was there to greet me. AT ALL. It was deader than dead, not like someone was busy helping someone else. I ran to the bathroom and came out and was informed that the bathrooms were for "paying customers only". How would he have known that I wasn't going to sit down and have a meal. At that point there was no way in hell I was going to. I then told him if it was a problem I'd be happy to order something and eat it and was informed "no no not a problem, BUT NEXT TIME you cannot use the restroom". As if I'm some homeless person or something that comes in there all the time to use their restroom. I had NEVER been in there before in my life. And I will NEVER return. Let me be perfectly clear. As a mom, I may not have been dressed 100% stylishly (jeans and a hoodie), and while I may not have taken a shower this morning, I most certainly had one yesterday afternoon. It wasn't like I stank, or had holes in my clothes, or looked like some sort of social degenerate. So we walk in and after about 2-3 minutes of us standing in the doorway, we are sat by the one person who is serving the entire restaurant, bartending and hosting all at once. He had left the table before we had even sat down. Then another person (I think a bus boy type) brought us some salsa. Man, that is some hot salsa. Good thing we had water! Oh wait, we didn't get water until we asked for it when our guacamole appetizer came. I asked for a margarita on the rocks and it came out frozen. Our server didn't come back for a good 10+ minutes so I couldn't even ask for it to be remade because I was dying from the salsa. We finally got out entrees and they were decent. I had the deluxe fajitas and the shrimp was overcooked and dry. My fiance had a combination plate and liked it.
