Came here to the market just to check out the downtown Napa area as well as see the market and was really disappointed about the experience. There was no one working at the special drinks counter and I just wanted to take a peek at the menu as they had it in paper form on the counter. I walked over to read it and there was no one behind me. A lady comes up to us and and asks if she can help us. I told her I was just taking a peek at the menu and she very rudely told us that we need to go to the other counter to order. She was extremely pushy and so we left that counter and my sister ended up ordering a dandelion mocha at another counter. It was not sweet at all and honestly, i felt bad about reading a menu since she was so rude about it. Very upset about my experience here. read more

During our recent stay in Napa, we came to Oxbow Market every day and Ritual Coffee became a daily routine. My fiance absolutely loved the Ethiopian pour over and I loved the chai. Unfortunately, they rotate out the coffees, and he was only able to get the Ethiopian blend one day. He asked for recommendations and was never disappointed. I've been looking forward to coming back here since March and I savored each moment I got to go this past weekend. Their soy mocha is just perfect! I didn't even need to add any sugar to it AND it was the right temperature that it won't burn your tongue! Oh man, I REALLY wanted to like this place -- I truly did! The look, the funky employees, the yummy smelling roasts...but sadly, I was served a truly awful cup of espresso on BOTH visits. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, maybe I needed to get one of their sugar and milk loaded "frou frou" drinks that are more "flair" than actual "coffee." I made the mistake of ordering a shot of espresso each time (I've tried this place twice). I love espresso. I drink it strong and black. I have three Nespresso machines at home and make espressos every single day. I travel to Italy just to drink espresso (yeah, that's for real). I realize this makes me sound like some sort of coffee douchebag, but the point is that I love GOOD coffee. The espresso Ritual Coffee served me was so bitter and so poorly pulled, there was hardly any crema at all! I know making a great espresso is truly an art and it's not something that's ordered very often in the U.S., but a real coffee joint ought to know how to pull a good (not expecting great, mind you) shot of espresso. I guess I'll give them another try the next time I'm at Oxbow in Napa, but real coffee drinkers beware -- avoid the espresso. read more

Bleh. We came here yesterday morning for coffee and baked goods and left underwhelmed. The market wasn't open yet, so it was nice to walk around it empty and sit and enjoy our breakfast in peace, but otherwise there was nothing special about this place. We got lattes that both came out tepid and our daughter's hot chocolate--ahem, our daughter's 4 oz hot chocolate that was $6--was one level above cold. The blueberry muffin was excellent with a solid crumb and pervasive blueberry flavor but the strawberry danish had something rotten on/in it. Kiddo's rainbow cookie thing was forgettable. All in, $35. It's Napa, we get it, fine, but you better at least deliver in quality and this place simply did not. read more

Love that they have a Rituals in Oxbow market. No matter the weather, I normally get a hot tea, but their specialty drinks were enticing so I ended up getting their iced Moonlight Swim instead. Despite it being really busy, I didn't have to wait too long for my drink. It was refreshing and not too sweet. I would order this again. Thumbs up for having sustainable straws as well. read more

We were sitting down enjoying some Three Twins ice cream when I saw the Ritual counter. It's not fully in service as of Feb 2/23/08. They were selling only coffee from French Presses and pre-bagged coffee beans. They will be getting their cappuccino machines by May 1, 2008 or so. They have 2 shops in SF. This review is for a day in the last week of July 2021. The nice employee explained some of their coffee selections to me.  I was still uncertain about what other selections they have. I didn't want to hold up the line so I hurriedly ordered the Latte with the Spring Seasonal Espresso that has a hint of orange flavor and a few other flavors which I can't remember.  When I picked up my Latte, I was surprised how small the cup of Latte was.  The Latte had a pretty leaf design that the Barista made with the cream which was nice.  I did taste a hint of orange in the Latte.  The flavor is too light.   I would not order from here again because the Latte was so small it's not worth the price of $5.50. read more

What a joy to stumble upon one of the best coffee shops in the nation, that just happens to have another location in Napa. - Update: I have ordered from them a couple of times during Covid. Their beans are always super freshly roasted, usually the roast date is the same as the day I ordered. Their prices with free shipping are some of the best in all of specialty coffee! read more

This is by far the best place in Napa where coffee is truly practiced as a culinary art, inside the Oxbow market. I have been several other coffee shops in the immediate area and there is nothing equivalent to what this place is doing. If you order at the "Special Menu" area that features the super high-end Synesso MVP Hydra espresso machine, the baristas here really know what they are doing and are ultra-precise with their measurement of shot weight and milk temperature so they can pour an absolutely perfect latte. I was there when Zoe was working and she is an absolute pro and fun to watch especially if you are a espresso drink fanatic and are looking to perfect your own skills. The roast is medium and extremely fruity. Some may think that the milk isn't hot enough but this is the only way you can get the consistency right to do the latte art everybody wants. They use a different roast and bean blend for pulling straight up shots (single origin, super smooth) versus their espresso drinks which is higher in acidity and are better for mixing with milk. Don't miss this place if you are shopping for goodies in the market, eating lunch, or visiting CIA Copia next door. I'd come here just to come for this place, personally. read more

The coffee at ritual is among the best in california, iv had blue bottle, Stumptown in los angeles, maru in socal and ritual I think has my favorite latte. I think a lot of this has to do with the passion of the baristas like Andrew, both Tommy's and Cameron to name a couple, their knowledge and execution of the drinks is a sight to behold. The apple cider latte is my close 2nd fav. It can be loud with a bunch of annoying entitled tourists but there's the oxbow for ya. THERE IS A RITUAL IN NAPA? There sure is! I was surprised when I was searching for a coffee house near my hotel one morning and I found Ritual! I must try it and see if the quality is comparable to the one @ San Francisco It wasn't that hard to find. It's located inside the public market. As expected, there was a long line and lots of people waiting for their coffee. We ordered 2 cappuccino and 1 mocha. Had to wait 20 minutes for the coffee since there was a long queue ahead of us. I may have never realized that there were stairs on the right side of the building (whoops) until my fiance told me later. They've got the ramp on the left side of the building that I used to get in and to get out. Very friendly and quick staff on the booth and the espresso was nicely roasted. ATTENTION -- They had oat milk -- Oat milk is basically all a coffee shop needs to have all my love and appreciation (you should try it, even if you typically drink milk.) Love Ritual!!!!!!! It is the best coffee in Napa, and one of my faves for the Bay Area. Love the beans we buy weekly, but then I also love when I run out of beans and have to buy a gorgeous and delicious latte to get caffeine pronto. To an outsider, the staff feels like a family, in that extended family all crammed next to each other at the Thanksgiving table kind of way (sometimes cranky, always jokey, always entertaining). They take time to say coo at my little son which is super sweet. We buy all of our coffee accessories here, and are proud owners/wearers of many super cute Ritual tee-shirts. I appreciate their recent expansion into the adjacent space and being able to hide away in there while I enjoy my coffee in a mug. So much love for this place! read more

People who ordered after me got their drinks first, and there were several other people waiting around who also seemed to be having issues. Ritual is in a popular spot (Oxbow Market) and has lots of customers during peak hours, but high demand is no excuse for lackluster customer experience, especially when you're charging premium prices. read more
