The River City Grill used to be one of my favorite Yuma restaurants. I don't know what's happened to it. We went tonight for a girls night dinner. Four of us ordered Ribeye Steak with Gorgonzola Compound Butter. Mine was ordered Medium and my friend sitting across from me ordered Pittsburgh Medium. My steak arrived looking perfectly cooked. I cut into it, it was a perfect Medium. Totally on point. My friend received her Pittsburgh Medium but when she cut into it, it was almost well done. We both tasted our steaks. Totally lacking in flavor. I had to add salt and pepper and ask for extra compound butter. Adding some kind of seasoning to make it tasty but it wasn't. My friend notified our server that her steak was not cooked correctly. They offered to refire it. Another 20 to 30 minutes and another steak was delivered to her....this time it was more well done than the time before. So she decided to ask for a manager. A very nice manager came and sat down next to my friend and listened to her as my friend explained her disappointment with the steaks that were delivered. She was actually the one that had recommended we eat here. The manager was very nice, she agreed that the new steak was obviously cooked worse in the first steak. What really caught us off guard is that she told my friend that if she wanted the first steak she ordered, it was still in the back available for her. I don't understand why that would be an option. For one it's been sitting for more than 40 minutes at least. And why would they be hanging onto a steak that a customer returned? Wouldn't that automatically get thrown in the garbage? The other suggestion, the manager made was taking the steak home for steak and eggs tomorrow. She expressed that there are some issues with the cooks, that they've been in transition and also mentioned that she would speak with them. So then, the manager offers a gift card to my friend. When the manager left to go get it, I asked my friend if she really wanted a gift card or if she just wanted credit for the food that she ordered and couldn't eat. At this point, my friend said she really doesn't want a gift card, that she just wants the bill comped. So when the manager came back, my friend asked her if the bill would be comped or if she would be receiving the gift card and at this point the manager said she could choose one. So my friend opted to have her bill comped. All I know is, I had a terribly bland steak. My friend had none! And even worse, I'm left wondering why they would hang onto a steak that someone returned to the kitchen... UPDATE: To answer the question about the necessity of the review from the business owner. I don't always write a negative review but I will when it's deemed necessary. In this case, the reason is simply the food overall was not good. Four steaks ordered, not one of us were happy with the cook or the taste. We each paid $40.00 for those steaks, they should have been tasty. You shouldn't be cooking to try and suit the tastes of your clientele. You should be cooking to deliver an amazing tasting plate! If you cook incredible food, people won't be dissatisfied. Besides, your rating is 4.5 stars here on Yelp. Nothing to worry about with my review. But it's good for people to see a truthful review and not just those from friends or regulars who find your establishment nostalgic. I am still left wondering why you didn't immediately throw out the first steak? Was it sitting out or was it refrigerated? But it was still available to her after her second steak was cooked. This quaint restaurant has so much to offer. From the moment you walk through the doors... the ambiance is so unique, the staff exceptionally friendly, and the food... well, let's just say it speaks for itself. I don't think you could go wrong with any item on the menu, seriously. But, be sure you order the Mediterranean Salad...enough for two. It's the best we've ever had! I ordered the crusted Salmon with (wait for it)... mushroom risotto! Oh yeah... outstanding. My husband ordered their Ribeye steak. It covered nearly the whole plate! Fantastic service! The people are very nice and obviously well trained. I had to choose between what I saw on the extensive and varied menu and tonight's special, an amazing sounding Shrimp and Penne offer that almost made me change my mind from the Rack of Lamb that caught my eye. I passed on my compliments to the Chef for the lamb, simply wonderful. The dessert menu was so very good that I struggled with my choice, ending up with the Crème Brûlée on the advice of the wonderful server that took great care of me , Jenna. Menu was so good all four of us struggled to decide. There was no wrong choice. We ordered the hazelnut encrusted halibut, filet, coconut chicken curry, and salmon with mushroom risotto. All were tremendous. Drinks were fantastic. Dale our server was on the spot, attentive, and friendly. We ate outside and the atmosphere was fantastic. Seated upon arrival with reservation. It was a lovely evening perhaps we might opt for outdoor seating on a similar night. The constant parade of guests through the dining room was cumbersome to servers and hostess! Impossibly tough hunks of baguette were pretty. Cocktails were delicious and served promptly and icy cold! (Zucchini was dodging the tines of utensils so perhaps requesting a little grilling or a little more than a glance at the kitchen would be warranted!) The slender green Beans were marvelous!!!! Flourless Chocolate torte sent me into Birthday Girl Culinary Nirvana! Hubby's thickly encased Brûlée tasted yummy once the jackhammer method finally busted through! So yummy! I do recommend the 007 martini! I know where to sit next time! Altho other reviews were un complimentary about the steak served here I do hope that they are as delicious as the ones served to the table towards the window! The gentleman's knife seemed to glide effortlessly through each piece and there weren't any bits remaining on the plate when he sat back and laid utensils down with a very content groan! If I had to pick one thing I didn't care for, was it was loud in there, but everything else was just great. This was a really great dinner place! We arrived with a party of nine and they seated us pretty quickly. They have inside and outside seating, we sat inside. The service was really good. Upon being seated we all received water and was asked about our other drink choices along with appetizers if desired. We ordered our food pretty quickly and enjoyed our time together. The atmosphere is chill and not loud so that was nice. Everyone in our party really enjoyed their food choice and raves about it. Over the years I've always wanted to take my wife here for a Date Night dinner. The outside looks a small and quaint little eatery diner with outside seating in the ack, replete with overhead lights, and street and overflow parking in the vacant lot the next block over. But, I've never followed up on the idea. Cut to 2021 and even though eating in resturants can be divisive, the Curbside pickup is still an option, one that we choose to divulge in. We ordered from the online menu the Chicken Parmesan Platter, served with Penne Marinara and Grilled Vegetables, which included a choice of Salad (we choose Caesar's) and French Baguette. 20 minutes later it was ready for pick up. At home, it was almost more enough for 2 teenagers as well as my Wife and I. The Baguette felt it was made fresh that night, and the Chicken Parmesan was a flavorful delight The vegetables had a solid texture to them too. It was definitely worth the price, and we look forward to a future "dinner date" (or another family meal) in the near future. read more

This is a really nice place to eat nestled in an area you wouldn't expect. It's on a fairly busy street and finding parking was difficult. We drove around the place twice and thought we'd "maybe" park on the vacant lot across the street but it was next to a house. We later came to discover that this was the "unmarked" parking area for the restaurant. It looks small from the outside but don't be deceived as they have set up a gorgeous outside seating area with black tablecloths and red napkins. If you prefer the air conditioned indoors, there are plenty of seats there. We had a nice breeze and outside was perfect. The menu is definitely unique with food for everyone from beef to vegan. There were six of us and between us we all commented on how good everything was. Service was good. We were surprised that a gratuity was added to our tickets but when we got the credit card back the receipt did not show a tip had been paid. A little confusing and we definitely didn't want to leave a 40% tip so had to ask. Original item charge receipt should have been returned. We would definitely return. read more

Overall 3.5 star location. Probably better than the average restaurant in Yuma!! The place offers indoor seating & nice spacious outdoor seating. They offer kind of a wide selection of food. My wife ordered chicken parmesan & she liked it but I thought it was ok. The chicken was baked & not fried. I ordered the NY strip & it was pretty good but not anything special if you're used to upscale restaurants. The Caesar salad was just ok as was the other sides (Potatoes & vegetables). Everything is relative, obviously this place is much better than say Dennys but for a mid upscale place I wasn't impressed enough to want to return. The bread they bring to your table was tasty, they have olive oil & balsamic on the table, this may have been the thing I liked most. There is a lot of other menu options like ossobucco & rack of lamb which I didn't try.. maybe I would have liked that better. For now I probably won't be back, they didn't do anything wrong per se & the service was good but I just wasn't impressed. Your options in Yuma are slim so this may be the best the town has to offer. As a local, I have been eating at River City Grill for decades. Their food is and always has been amazing. I have eaten everything on the menu that does not have fish in it due to an allergy. It is all amazing. My favorite is the coconut curry chicken. Recently I called in an order for lunch from River City grill for a RiverWrap. The food was ready by the time I drove there from my office and was so good that it left me wishing I had ordered more. I think I have a new favorite lunch!
