I'm BIAS, for 2 Reasons Reason 1: Not long after I bought a house, in Sanford, where I hoped some hustle and bustle would erupt... RJB Opened! A small Brewery in a locally significant building was a perfect fit! Reason 2: After some time as a patron, I joined the Brewery Team behind the bar. The way RJB wants to do things, the welcoming nature between RJB & the Community has been awesome!

Finally a brewery in Sanford! River Junction started out as Riverstone, which was an at-home brewing project during Covid. The beer was sold at local pubs, and it grew a following with it's amazing IPAs. In the meantime, the brewer looked for a local space to continue brewing and serving beers. Riverstone is now River Junction and is located in the same building of Shain's of Maine. The space is warm and inviting with modern light fixtures and wooden beams and walls. There is a variety of seating ranging from bar seats, long tables, and couches. Having just opened a day prior, the staff were excited to serve and were welcoming on my recent trip. There were 5 beers being served that were brewed by the brewery, and they were also featuring two from Moat Mountain. I ended up getting three tastings, and the Riverstone Lager and Double IPA were quick favorites. I did see that they were also serving wine, though it wasn't clearly advertised, and they served small snack food like popcorn. I'm excited to see the space and brewery grow, as it will quickly become popular. They are doing everything right, and it's a step in the right direction for Sanford. I highly recommend you give River Junction a try!

Absolutely the best, we go there weekly and love the way they change it up all the time. Try the hard Ice Tea or Lemonade.

The staff is friendly, the beer is good and you can now order food from Shain's of Maine in the brewery.

I love the people that run the place. They' don't seem interested in shaping impressions as much as they shape their beer. Internet likes are seemingly felled in the interest of flavor or unique expressions of their craft. Not a single hop, nor grain of malt, nor iota of yeast are sacrificed in vain. Imagine for a moment, a brewer bringing together from the diversity of what nature brings. Has anyone bring to canvas what Van Gogh has? Did Van Gogh have magic paint or special brushes? No, From the same stuff came the unexpected. It is what Van Gogh did that separates ordinary from artistry. Whether you are local, driving by, or even within a reasonable driving distance, swinging into the little hamlet of Waterboro may bring to you a Starry Night. And yes, I meant to circle back to the same allusion. Go there. Drink their beer. If you don't enjoy the hospitality, people, ambience, the beautiful beer garden or (obviously) the beer, then write your own review! ;) PS. Their IPAs are Edvard Munch-esque, but in a good way!!

Funky Bow Brewery is definitely one of the most unique breweries I've ever visited! We stumbled…read moreupon it while driving around the area and decided to stop in for a drink. Important to note: they allow dogs. And while we LOVE dogs (we couldn't resist petting the ones running around), I can see how this policy might not be for everyone. The dogs roam freely and off-leash in a large indoor/tented area, which can feel a bit chaotic. A couple of things I wasn't thrilled about: the brewery is cash-only, and there's a $3 cover fee. For what? I have no idea -- there was no live music or anything like that during the hour we spent there. As for the drinks, the beer was... fine. I had the IPA, and while I didn't love it, I'd probably drink it again. The highlight was the pizza. It was phenomenal and made up for some of the other lows.

The kid working the front was SUPER nice, and the beers were good but I'm not sure if they were their beers or guest taps- the labeling isn't great. The pizza was good but not life changing. The real vibe is the fact that this is like a kindergarten gone wrong. The amount of wilding screaming kids was too much for me and look, I LOVE dogs, I brought my own but having someone else's off leash (dogs have to be off leash) and off leash kid begging for pizza while I'm trying to drink a beer in the sun was a little much. I'd go back, but it was too much of a sensory overload to be any fun and the beers were forgettable.
