Margaritas went down pretty smoothly. Overall we were pleased with this place. The TVs played the live games. One weird thing we all noticed, this restaurant has all the wait staff run the salt and pepper together to ... what looks like, they want to verify the levels are even. The issue is when we are waiting for servers, they aren't available because they are busy filling salt and pepper. :) Nevertheless, Food is great and music choice and decor are spot on! read more

While visiting San Antonio I obviously wanted to indulge in some of the best Mexican food in south Texas so this is one of the restaurants I came to for lunch. We were seated immediately and placed drink orders while looking over the menu. We decided on chips and queso Quesa-Birria tacos and chicken flautas for our meal. my daughter ordered a frozen avocado mango margarita and I ordered a strawberry jalapeno margarita on the rocks. My wife and I tried this place for the first time today. Our daughter recommended, and she has been sending us to great spots. This place was easy to find and had lots of parking. We were able to get a great spot even with them being busy during the prime lunch time. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a sweet lady. I have not seen many folks with her experience working in the restaurant business, so I was surprised. However, she took good care of us and got us to a nice table away from the bar. Our waitress came quickly and finding out that it was our first time in the establishment explained everything to us. She also advised that she would be giving us a dessert special free of charge. I ordered the lunch special, an enchilada plate. My wife, who wanted TexMex, ordered a burger:-) Our piping hot food was delivered quickly and was just as we ordered. It was actually a lot more food than we expected for a lunch special, and it was very tasty. Will we return? Definitely, when we are in that part of town. read more

The "Mexican" rice is flavorless and bland...BLAND, as in, none of the ingredients your Southside abuela used to use. We probably won't be back for a meal, but the salsa and the loaded queso were both good. So maybe just apps and drinks. Come during Happy hour and the appetizers are half price. The nachos are basically tostadas cut in half, it was a miss for me because of the steak. It was mesquite grilled which I didn't think would make a big difference but it did, it didn't taste like tex-mex like I wanted it to. It tastes more like they should have BBQ sauce on them. Also the grilled onions and bell peppers were really thick strips. The enchiladas were not impressive either. Tried green, sour cream, and beef. Sour cream was lacking in flavor majorly. Let me preface this by saying the service I received was stellar. The server was very understanding and helpful when it came to asking questions about the menu. The wait for the food was very long, in excess of 20-25 mins of waiting for our dishes. The appetizers cane out very quickly, but as soon as other people started coming in, everything slowed down. I sort of expected this to be more of a upscale Mexican restaurant from other's photos and the exterior of the building. However, inside it was more of a traditional interior, which isn't bad. I ordered the Fajitas and the Calamari. The calamari was great, as it was cooked the proper consistency and soft interior while a crispy exterior. The fajitas were subpar. The chicken was very dry, the beef was pretty overcooked and lacked any softness or give. Despite those, it still tasted fine, but the texture was very off-putting. The first round of tortillas were nowhere near fresh. They were dry and hard as a rock and lacking any kind of give or heat. Definitely not fresh. We asked for another set and they were fresher, so that was easily resolved. Overall, I don't think I'd come back. The server was great and I feel bad that his service was spectacular but followed up by a mediocre kitchen. read more

Let's start with that we were seat immediately on a Sunday evening, around 7, so points for that. It was moderately busy. The margarita flight was sooo good, and although I didn't care for the blue one - each was really well done. The chips were okay, thick and tasted like Tostitos. The salsa was excellent and my son literally was drinking it, liked it so much. The street corn was also 5 stars. The puffy tacos and the enchilada were all really well done and came out quickly. We got the table side gauc as well, but I don't think we'd get it again As it was a smaller amount than I'd like for the price we paid. Overall service was decent as well. Tiago's has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for several years. We ate there again Memorial Day evening and could not find our favorite dishes on the menu. We were informed that the restaurant had been sold and the menu changed. We then ordered a chicken enchilada dinner and crispy beef tacos with a side of enchiladas. The separate order of enchiladas had to be a minim of 3. When the crispy tacos came they came with onions and were ordered without so they were sent back. Both of our different type of enchiladas arrived only warm and only cooled further during dinner to the point they were tasteless. Delivered without the usual warning not to touch the hot plates. We had already sent one thing back and didn't want to send another. The borracho beans were too soupy and could have had more beans. The small side of guacamole was a only tablespoon sized and came smooth as from a blender. Completely displeased with no plan to return. We only ordered water to drink and what used to be a satisfying meal of $45-$50 with tip was a $67 bill for an unsatisfactory meal. read more

Been here a few times and have had a few dishes. Their lunch specials are really good! Portion size and selection. My favorite is their barracho beans. I love the flavor of the beef from the grill. That charred flavor. Yum! I got the plate with 3 enchiladas, 1 beef, 1 chicken, 1 shrimp. The beef was my favorite and will get that one next time. I tried the chicken empanada. Eh. I'd pass on that. The cherry on top of the chocolate cake!!!! We got half a slice which was more than plenty. The service there has always been top notch. Attentive, but not annoying. James (manager) and his staff are phenomenal!!! My college baseball team was in town for a weekend series and we were suggested Tiago's for post game meal. I called and spoke with James about placing a large catering order via another app, but I needed a fish option for Lent for my Catholic student-athletes. James suggested an alternative dish and ordering directly through them. Thank goodness I did, because the customer service was impeccable! We got all 40 boxed meals, plus drinks and chips/salsa. Everything was super fresh and delicious, and James was supper accommodating when we had to push back pick up due to a long game. I can't personally vouch for in restaurant experience, but if you're looking for catering, I can't recommend Tiago's more! read more

The food is okay, but like the AT&T commercial says "just okay is not okay". What made me give it one star was the restaurant itself- the environment. Come on, lean in and let me tell you aaaall about it... 1. The AC isn't working to its full potential. We thought we were hot from just walking in, but it never cooled off. Here in Texas, that's a big no, no AND should be a priority in getting repaired ASAP. 2. The layout is off. There is a wall missing between the kitchen and the dinning room. No one likes to see how their food is made. You can see the staff running around and you can hear the HEAVY METAL the kitchen staff likes to hear (typically behind the scenes) alongside the pop music playing in the dinning room. I don't have a preference in music, but for goodness sake play one kind of music only. It was like watching 4 tvs in a single room at maximum volume. 3. The floor is unkept and dirty; too much food on the floor. 4. The tables are too small. They are setting up tables with the 6 plates, wheeeen they are meant for 4. I was in a party of 5 and ate off the corner of the table. It was quite the balancing act. 5. My silverware was washed, but food was stuck dry to it. Ew. Tiago's was struggling. I felt I was watching a restaurant arriving to its demise slowly. Do better. P.S. The waiter was nice. read more

Now I understand why our vendor had Tiagos brought in, it's delicious! We went for a girls lunch at work, and I had been waiting to try this place in person. I am glad I did! You walk in and it smells delicious. Let alone the cool decor. Our server took great care of us to boot. The chips and salsa are fantastic. I would have easily just ate those and drank margaritas as the bar all night and been content. But I was here for fajitas! The beef fajita lunch plate is delicious! It can with sides and tortillas, and let's just say with was all gone when we left. I also tried the shrimp fajitas, yes, another winner. I will be back for more work lunches in the future for sure. Our first visit was this past Friday for happy hour. I was on a mission to try their Mexican Chocolate Cake, which is a coworker raves about and is his birthday cake tradition for years now. Mia started us out with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa definitely has a spicier kick than most other restaurants and is good. My husband and I ordered the Gold Rita - his frozen and mine on the rocks - to celebrate National Tequila Day. They were good! For happy hour, the appetizers are half off so we tried several - calamari, coconut shrimp, and chicken empanada. The calamari was a huge portion and came with onion rings. The coconut shrimp were very tasty, and the best deal. Love the marmalade sauce! The chicken empanada was ok, probably could have better flavor. We had to make room for the Mexican Chocolate Cake. Since it was our first visit, they gave this to us as a complimentary dessert. It was very fudgy and came with cinnamon ice cream. Very rich and delicious! Highly recommend this place. This has been one of our favorite places for three years since we moved here. Last night's meal was just not the same. The four of us all agreed that the food was not great. My husband used to get the Cabo topped enchiladas and those are no longer on the menu. The chips weren't warm like they used to be and my beans were crusty on top and not hot. I love Tiago's Cabo Grille! I wanted a nice place to have my daughter's graduation lunch and I can't say enough great things. On my first call the store manager was super accommodating. He booked my reservation for the patio, emailed me the menu, gave me an open invitation to order a brunch type option and was always available if I had any questions or special requests. Upon arriving, the tables were already set up, fans were running to keep us cool. Not only was the ambiance perfection, the food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The alcoholic beverages were also on point. Kudos to our service team who were always available whenever we needed a refill, more food, and even clean up. They were the definition of professionalism. Are ived at 11:20 for lunch. Menu is on line so hope you brought your smart phone. They deliver a QR Code that you scan with your camera and the menu opens up on your phone. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Chips were puffy and crispy. They were good. Salsa was a bit spicy but good. Very colorful on the inside. Ordered the mixed grill skewer. Has beef, chicken,and shrimp on 4 different skewers with rice and vegetables. Service was very fast. Seated quickly and entree order taken within 5 minutes. Contemporary music playing at a good volume in the background. My food came out in about 10 minutes. Good for a limited time lunch break. Food was good. I liked my menu choice. Pretty solid! I thought by driving by it was more of a fast casual order at the counter type, but it's a full sit down restaurant with full bar. I wanted to hate the chips and salsa, but they were actually pretty good! The salsa was simple, but it was ok. I order the Baja fish tacos for lunch and they were also pretty good! I was taken aback when they arrived, it was more of an open fish burrito cut in half....but there was a generous amount of fish that was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The slaw and mango salsa were sooo good! And, I really liked the Baja sauce on the side so I could control how much went on. I did find the cheese to be yummy, but unnecessary. I wouldn't recommend totally omitting it, but maybe asking "with or without" would be helpful for those of us that don't read ALL the details. Haha! Overall, the food was great! First off, this was just my experience. Hopefully anyone who decides to eat here will enjoy it more than I did. Arrived between 11am-Noon. Had the ceviche as an appetizer and I have to say it was some of the best ceviche I've ever had. I might go back just for that. As for entree's , we tried the "Beef Asada Tacos" and the "Shrimp Pasta". The beef inside the tacos had zero seasoning. Very bland tacos. The guacamole is also served on the outside, on top of the taco shells, which was interesting. Had to scoop it off the sides and put it inside the tacos. The sauce for the shrimp pasta is terrible. Worst pasta sauce Ive ever tasted. Like a can of sauce from the store. I regret spending money on this dish. Although the shrimps were a good size. I would definitely suggest other entrees if you decide to eat here. I'm sure they will taste somewhat better. We recently went here for a birthday and the staff was AMAZING! We had Ana as our waitress and she was so great! James, the manager made the birthday a day to remember-- he even took a photo of us, printed it out, and laminated it for us to take home! The food is also so good every time I come to eat here. Went for happy hour. Sat on the patio, music was quite loud. Ordered some appetizers, every thing was crazy salty. Calamari was more than half onion rings! That was not disclosed on the menu. Let me totally honest up front, the best thing on the menu are the margaritas and the Mexican chocolate cake. I had already eaten at Lupe Tortilla when I decided to bring my friends here. The desserts at Lupe suck, but man I love the chocolate cake here. I first had it before I started Yelping and it was by accident. We came one day several years ago, like 9 or 10, and sat outside. It was a San Antonio winter, perfect with a light sweater. They had these portable heaters, those tall propane ones like a torch. We waited not even that long and the manager comes out and says sorry they had not lit the torch and we were waiting so long. I was like oh no not at all because guys it was hardly that long and we just liked the crisp weather. Well, anyway, he brings us the Mexican chocolate cake and tells us compliments of the house because we waited so long, which again was totally not an issue. Wow it was so good, and we would NEVER have ordered it then or ever because chocolate cake is not our thing. But it is now, but only at Tiago's. read more
