Great service from Katelyn who was very helpful. Caesar salad was light and flavorful. Garlic bread was good. Good wings, calamari had a decent amount of it that was jalapeños which was different and interesting but took away from the actual calamari serving amount. Another fantastic restaurant on the Wyndham Shawnee village. This restaurant is at the Shawnee inn, which is located on the Shawnee inn golf course one of the best courses in Pennsylvania. To start our server Sarah was very friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic the French onion soup was delicious and piping hot which hit the spot on cool fall evening. My wife decided to try the wings with barbecue sauce which was tender and finger licking good. I had the double patty melt with French fries, the fries are fresh cut and light salted DELICIOUS. The burger was fried medium well and the onions were grilled to perfection. The dining area is classic with black table cloth and comfortable black leather chairs. A great ambiance. Our seats by the window was a great view of the caddies returning with golfers coming of the course and a view of the putting green. A wonderful experience, my wife and I haven't been here in years, but our next trip to the Poconos it will be our first stop. If you're in the area check out the River Room. read more

It was less than okay. Nothing was nice. Neither service nor food. It wasn't crowded, but we were waiting long enough for waiters to come, then to serve. I had a trout fillet, it was overcooked. For dessert I had a tiramisu cake and it was awfully dry, I couldn't eat it all. So don't waste your time and money, go somewhere else. read more

The food and ambiance as well as the staff are top notch. My wife and I were in the area to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We came to the River Room on the first night of our stay in the area. The food, service and ambiance were so impressive we booked a reservation for the last day of our trip. Upon coming into the restaurant we were greeted by the Manager who informed us that the same Chef that cooked for us the first visit was again on duty and was looking forward to preparing our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking to celebrate an event or to have a business meeting or family event. You will not be disappointed. read more

What an amazing dining experience! The River Room is beautifully decorated with plenty of tables but sufficient room to not feel crowded by your neighbors. The staff members were wonderful: friendly; helpful with questions; and very focused on making our dinner a great one. The food was beyond compare. We both had the New York Strip with Shrimp. Without question, one of the best, if not the best, New York Strips we have had. Before we left we made reservations for our last night in the area. I wish I could go lower! everything was a disaster from the squished bread to a Cesar salad that was a garden salad with Cesar dressing out of a can! My wife and I bo ordered the filet mignon medium both came out well done with a terrible peppercorn sauce we didn't order! I'm conflicted about this review. Firstly, this review is just for the bar. F and I have never tried the restaurant, even though it has a lovely view, it just seems a little, shall we say, tired. The bar could use a spruce, but it is ok to hang out, or take your drink on to the veranda. It's definitely old school but not in a great way. We have patronized this bar many times and found the servers pleasant and attentive, for the most part. The one time we were there Shannon, the bartender was fantastic. She knows how to do her job and knows how to serve the customer. The last time we were there she was clearly overwhelmed by the number of people. Management should have given her some help. This was the first time we have been here at this busy time of year, summer. So, this was the first time we had encountered this. In the fall, it's very quiet. This bar always has a nice selection of craft beers, especially being connected to the Shawnee Brewery. read more

One of the only places to eat breakfast besides the cafe across the lobby. It is a clean, bright, little place. Our waitress was very friendly and polite. The food was average. I didn't expect a hash brown to be the "breakfast potatoes" that came with the Philly cheesesteak omelette but the omelette itself was tasty and a great sized portion. The addition of the fruit was nice and a great effort for a balanced meal! We also got chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon and 2 coffees all for only $21.20! Great price however there was only one waitress working but the place was pretty empty. Nice view of the golf course from where we were seated. Can't complain as we both left full and satisfied however this place could use more options! read more

Zero stars. We are currently staying at the inn (which I would also give the same amount of stars) and were looking forward to dining at the River Room based off the online photos on the in website. Bravo, we were catfished. While the staff were friendly and polite, It's a big stretch to call this a "one of a kind" Pocono dining experience. The food, cocktails and atmosphere are more reminiscent of a aging Applebee's. Not sure if management is pinched for cash, or frankly doesn't care (which is my bet judging by the rest of the inn). But I would suggest not eating here unless the pandemic surges and closes all other forms of dining. read more

We used to frequent here a lot but it seems a lot has changed as well. The service is nothing to rave about, it is a bit slow. The bread for dinner was warm and good but the price vs the food was eh. After the order no one came back to ask if we needed bread or water or anything for another 22 minutes, the glasses they give r chipped so be careful where you sip. One star for convenience if you are staying at the Shawnee Inn and because the atmosphere and view are really nice. Otherwise, I wish I could commend this place, but I can't. Everything started off fine, but just kept going downhill. My husband, daughter, and I were seated immediately and only waited briefly for our server. We weren't offered a kid's menu, and I later realized there was one listed online. The Philly Cheesesteak that was listed on the menu (and online) had a V next to it indicating that a vegetarian version was available. The server said she believed it was a typo, but she'd go check. My backup plan was the margarita pizza. We received waters and bread quickly and after that...nothing. And then more of nothing. No check ins or water refills or offers to get another drink. Ever. For the rest of the night. The toddler started getting antsy. My husband and I exchanged confused glances because the food was taking a really really long time. Both of us are pretty patient about waiting for food, but this was an abnormally excessive wait for a restaurant that was only moderately full. We finally got our food and it was a huge disappointment, especially for the high prices. My pizza was not a margarita pizza at all, but a long rectangular square with cheese (maybe cheese?) that looked like it came from an Ellios box. My husband's pan-seared chicken wasn't seared and tasted bland. I am a huge pizza fan and am not hard to please with most pizza, BUT this $12 slab tasted like cardboard and was of worse quality than the aforementioned mentioned Ellios (of which I could've gotten four boxes for the price I paid). The fries were good, which was a relief. We finished eating and then...nothing. A couple who sat down ahead of us got their food and commented on how long ours took and left. Eventually, a friendly staff member did come over and talked to our little one and cleared the table. The server came by with the bill but still no check ins. I was curious about dessert because it wasn't on the menu and no one offered a dessert menu. My husband and I joked that dessert was out of the question anyway, because we would be waiting all night. So, this place has convenience and potential, but poor customer service, subpar food, and high prices. You're much better off hitting Gem and Keystone instead. read more

This is the fancy dining option at the shawnee inn. The menu is continental cuisine and it's excellently prepared, though a bit on the bland side. The service is slow and inefficient. I had a chicken breast with a honey and chipotle marinade and while the cook had infused the honey and crisped the outside to perfection, the chipotle was all but non existent. The sides of beans were perfect though. Not sure the prices should be in the 20's for this food, between 15-20 would be good. read more

My family stayed at the Shawnee Inn for 2 nights after a white water rafting trip. The buffet breakfast was hot and ready. There is a self service waffle iron and chef at the omelette station. The fruits were fresh and plenty of bacon, sausage, hash browns, yogurt, oatmeal, pastries and cold cereal. The staf was pleasant and kept the coffee/juice refilled. I enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere.....you can look out at the beautiful grounds while eating. It's a little pricey at $15 but I would recommend it, the breakfast hit the spot. read more

My husband and I came to the Shawnee Inn for our honeymoon on the recommendation of friends. I had high expectations of the food since they have their own organic garden which supplies much of the restaurant's produce. But the portion sizes and quality have been very inconsistent. Our first night here we paid $60 for dinner for 2 and left still hungry. One night I ordered the pasta special with veggies in a garlic cream sauce. When the dish finally came, it was missing half the veggies indicated on the menu. When the waiter brought it back 20 min later, the added veggies were raw and mixed in. My husband ordered eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was very sour. After 5 days here and dining in the Riverroom 5 times, it seems to be hit or miss. Not a good value for us. read more

My husband and I came to The River Room for our anniversary dinner. We sat at the bar, where Kaylee was our bartender. There was only one other server working, Maya. We expected to see management and we were going to tell management how wonderful the service was, however there was no management in the restaurant. The girls worked extremely well under pressure. We had our final breakfast meal here during our vacation. The server was prompt and friendly and seemed knowledge about all the items. The prices were in line with what I would expect to pay at a resort/hotel restaurant. I like that they use items from the farm on premises, might not make a big difference, but I thought it was a nice detail. We both had omelettes and they were cooked perfectly. My only issue was with the coffee. I'm accustomed to hot coffee, but theirs was unreasonably hot, almost dangerously so. read more

We are currently staying at the Shawnee Inn and we have been extremely unpleased with the River Room. Yesterday we got two bagels from across the hall of the River Room, but the River Room allowed us to use their toaster. As we are using the toaster the women who I am assuming is the Chef walked up to us and tried accusing us of stealing the bagels from them (even though we had taken them out of our brown paper bag and had to unwrap them) so it clearly wasn't from the River Room buffet. After we told her where they were from she continued to ask us for our room number and went to her coworkers and told them we were stealing. At this point we had finished toasting our bagels, so we left because we didn't do anything wrong. This morning we decided to give them a second chance and we wanted to try the buffet. However, before we had even sat at a table the chef was already staring at us with two of her coworkers. It is quite pathetic that someone can be this immature and make the guests feel uncomfortable. By now she should know she was in the wrong as the hostess of the River Room and the Shawnee Inn knew the situation and what really happened. If anything she should have walked up to us and apologized for her behavior, but instead she decided to once again gather her coworkers, gossip, and stare at us. This is something that I am hoping gets brought to her and her coworkers attention so they can work on making guests feel welcomed. We are now heading to a different restaurant to spend our money. read more

We spent four nights here and mostly had the breakfast buffet. It has lots of choices and food is plentiful. There was a good selection of fruit: melon, berries, grapes, some citrus, bananas, etc. There is a cold and hot cereal option. There are sweet rolls and different breads. The hot buffet line has volume: biscuits and gravy, potatoes, pancakes or French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage. There is an omelette station. Morning staff was sometimes helpful with water pitcher refills and coffee carafe refills. Staff women were friendly, men surly, one morning I had trouble keeping my place from bring bussed away when I went for hot food and again when I was done but still drinking coffee. We had one evening experience. We had a family outdoor barbecue. The ribs, chicken, salmon, sides and dessert were good. The outdoor staff was great: friendly and helpful. We needed to get wine and alcohol from the bar. There was adequate wine by the glass. The whiskey selection was pitiful. Other spirits I would have liked, such as cinnamon whiskey were missing. The staffing was slight: one person not always there. We went elsewhere for our drinks. This is in a beautiful facility but not a great place for breakfast or a bar. read more

We came here on a recommendation. Upon first looks, the hotel is historic and looked pretty clean and tended to. Lots of nostalgic pieces here and there but not cluttered. What was upsetting was that the windows which were large and should have showed a beautiful view of the river and golf course, were filthy dirty. I couldn't even take a pic of the pretty heron that decided to pose for a moment. The chandeliers were horribly dirty with cobwebs on them, and a few had flickering bulbs which were a bit distracting. The tables were nicely spaced so you could eat comfortably. The settings were bare minimum. No salad fork or spoon, just a single water glass, fork, knife, and napkin. The waitstaff was very polite, and didn't hover. The bartender made good drinks. Their tap brews come from the attached brewery, Shawnee Craft Brewing Co, which sadly is below par quality for fresh craft brew. First served was fresh raisin sage bread, and I think it had roasted peppers or tomatoes also, little pieces of red skins were mottled throughout. A little over savory, but on the whole tasty. French onion soup - just an average soup. Next up salad.. cant really ruin that. A nice sized plate of mixed greens shredded carrot, tomato, and cucumber. They politely placed the dressing on the side. Truffle fries with parmesan cheese - totally underdone and overly salted. Yuck. DO NOT ORDER! Buffalo wings - 8 per order. We asked to sample two of their sauces and they were happy to accommodate us. We did a 4/4 split of the Bourbon BBQ and beer-yaki sauce. They were overcooked and dry. Sad. Pork Schnitzel - what came out was not a schnitzel.. what came out was a totally overcooked overly flattened piece of what I think was pork. Not sure because it was so dry I needed the applesauce and tomato jam to soften it. Kinda felt like eating sawdust coated wood. Not seasoned at all. Totally bland. Gross. The spaetzle was disappointing on a few levels. They were mostly hard little blobs made of garlic and oil. No other seasoning. They were not done right at all. Boo. Yuck. The red cabbage although tender and sweet was not done in a fashion to compliment the German dish they were attempting to serve. It should have been a bit tart and peppery. It was the best part of the dish. And that's sad. I'm not sure if the transition of older clientele from younger has made them make their food so bland and overcooked, or if they actually do not understand how to properly prepare food. I truly hope the chefs revisit their menu and really try to make better food. This was a horrible disappointment. I really had high hopes. read more

Ambiance was lacking, service was meh, carpet needs replacing, hotel guests showing up in sweatshirts was annoying, and food was fine but not as fresh and seasonal as the menu made me believe, and definitely overpriced. Loved the fried green tomatoes (although small serving), the Southwestern grouper made me have some stomach issues later, and desert options were boring. SKIP THIS PLACE!!!!! It is supposed to be elegant and it had a nice view but the food was horrible. Two of us ordered NY strip steaks. About 1/3 of each 16 ounce steak was gristle. Kept soldiering through and eating edible parts but really not tasty and every other bite was gristle. My bread plate was full of pieces that could not be eaten. The baked potato was ice cold. When reported, they offered a new steak. Uh. No. Then offered a dessert. No thanks we have dessert plans. Acted like there were no other options and I suggested a discount on the bill. This was a $31 steak that would cost WAY less and be not just edible but DELICIOUS at any run of the mill steak house. They gave us a 5% discount on the two steak dinners So, $3 off. WHAT A RIP OFF. I gave the service staff a large tip, assuming this is a management issue. Then, I inadvertently gave them my Health Savings Account card and it was declined. The wait staff was very good, but the food is lacking, especially for the price. I had a Reuben sandwich, I couldn't find any sauerkraut inside (I've had better Reuben for less money). My wife had a buffalo chicken wrap, and it was mostly celery (more celery than chicken). The best part of the meal for me was the fried asparagus, and there wasn't much of that. My boyfriend and I came here for game night. He loved the bison burgrer, but the braised rabbit was terrible. As someone who has enjoyed rabbit many times, I was greatly disappointed. The greens and rabbit were so soggy it felt like I was eating a stew that was over salted and left on the counter. We ordered the buffalo potato skins as an appetizer, which were awesome, but by the time our main dishes came they were hardly warm. Our waitress was very accommodating and even forgave the portion of the bill for the rabbit that I couldn't eat! Never have I gotten such great consideration and care from a waitress. We had one dinner and two breakfasts at the River Room while spending the weekend at the Shawnee Inn. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the service was horrible and the helpfulness of the staff frequently came as an apology for mistakes made. Biggest problem was that the starters (soup and salad) were not brought out before our entrees and the staff seemed surprised that we wanted them first. The other thing that we had to question was the continuous statements that they were running out of things and serving us slowly because they were so busy, This happened at both breakfast and dinner. Although they may have been busy before or after we were eating, there were never more than two other tables seated in the dining room when we were there. We'll be back but will be looking at other dining option in the area instead of just relying on this venue. read more
