Absolutely unacceptable experience. We came back because we enjoyed our first visit, but this visit guaranteed we'll never return. I ordered a margarita, and the glass literally smelled like a wet dog. I couldn't even drink it. I told the bartender, Jessie, and instead asked for a single shot of tequila with fruit. Before leaving, I ordered another single shot. When the bill arrived, I was charged for double shots on both drinks. I immediately told Jessie I had ordered singles. Her response? "Well, I gave you doubles." That's not how ordering drinks works. Customers don't order one thing and then get charged for something more expensive because the bartender decided to pour it. If you're going to serve a double, you ask first. You don't make that decision for the customer and then expect them to pay for it. Only after I questioned the bill did she remove the extra charges. To make matters worse, we were charged $24 for two Ketel One martinis, plus another $8 on each, making the pricing even more ridiculous. This experience left me feeling like I had to inspect every line of my bill just to make sure I wasn't being overcharged. If I hadn't paid attention, I would have walked out paying for drinks I never ordered. Between the dirty glass, the unexplained upcharges, and having to argue over the bill, this was one of the most disappointing bar experiences I've had in a long time. My advice: Check your bill carefully before you pay. Every single line. Bartenders like this should be fired. They make the business look bad ! read more

Ordered via Uber Eats. The French Dip was sent without the au jus, so it was just a dry roast beef sandwich. The sour cream was not included for the loaded potato skins. I'm not sure if these were packaged separately in a smaller bag that the driver didn't get, but if they're handing orders to drivers they need to be sure they get everything, and if they put orders in a pick up area to be taken they should indicate the number of bags on the receipt (there was not) so they know how many to look for. And of course, if these things were supposed to be put in the same bag with the entrees, they need to be more careful packing. Disappointing. read more

Went back to this place so other family members could try it out. The service took a while but the food tasted good. Saturday was a steamer special for $12 so some in our party ordered that. In addition we ordered French Sip sandwich with kettle chips (really good), Fried Catfish sandwich with sweet potato fries (heard it was a hit), half pound burger with yummy fries, chicken wings with a dry rub and fried pickle chips (least favorite item). Came here for a dinner and some brews. They have regular live music as well and we were lucky enough to be there while it was going on. Good selection of tap beer and I had the wing special which was tasty and a good deal. Had a very friendly waitress. We ordered for pickup which was quick but did include an automatic gratuity. We got garlic parmesan wings which were really good and came with some celery. They weren't too saucy. The baby back ribs were extremely saucy which is generally fine, but they were piled on top of the fries, making them a soggy mess. Ketchup was available on request, but that was before I knew what a mush pile the fries would be. It seems for the extra gratuity fee, a separate box would not have been unreasonable. Gem and Keystone's patio was perfect for our large group social. Nice server (she took our group photo) took all our drink orders fairly promptly. Beers are all made at Shawnee brewery on premise and are very good. Nice cocktail options. Food orders included cat fish (that fried cat fish with whipped sweets looked best to me) vegetarian chili, wings, tavern burgers, salads. All decent tavern fare. The seasonal drinks were amazing. The French Onion Soup, definitely a favorite, was very flavorful ~ done to perfection. The catfish sandwich with apple jicama and Thai chili sauce on a brioche bun was delicious. It would be hard to try something new when it was already the perfect meal. SECOND VISIT: since the first was a success! I craved that French onion soup again, but challenged myself to try the soup special, beef lentil. It did not disappoint. It was very flavorful. My friend and I shared the Monday night empanada special. Forewarning, the salsa was hot, but Omgosh the flavors were amazing. I had a wing craving and decided the spicy maple garlic was going to be the perfect adventure. They were tasty too! My friend tried the beef pot pie and it did not disappoint. Another visit to one of my favorite eateries in the Poconos. My groups french onion soup was tasty however I'm used to the soup reaching the rim of the crock and the cheese melts over the rim. My cheesesteak was delicious however I needed some extra cheese sauce for my cheesesteak. Now for the disappointment,my wife catfish sandwich was terrible according to my wife. The sandwich was soggy, the fish was not crispy and it fell apart when my wife cut it in half.Her sweet potato fries and my grandson's sweet potato fries were cold and my onion rings which I love here were undercooked. I hated our meals weren't up to our usual standards here. Between the 4 of us over 2 dinners (Especially today, valentines when they were packed) on. Monday and tonight we all ha a polenta special, a side salad, the chicken cheesesteak, fish and chips, gnocchi, Beef Shoulder filet x2) and Monday's soup of the day (which was a beef and ancient grains soup). oh and spicy pork empanada and the fried catfish. The only nitpicks we had were the empanada wasn't spicy, the catfish didn't have its sauce (and the accompanying brussels needed balsamic). But the last 2 are moot because the kitchen was slammed tonight 2/14/24. All of the food was lovely, just an FYI to my fellow out of towners that any labeled spicy, isn't. And, they'll probably define ancient grains for you (I didn't know we looked that white! Is this area that white?). The latter was more funny than anything. they were slammed tonight for valentines, which is understandable, but the service was super friendly and attentive and the ambiance, which had a very lodge-like feel (a nice accent after each day of skiing). The service point also is true for Monday. The food is incredible and very flavorful. Definitely come here if you're staying anywhere nearby. read more

Their ad at Shawnee Ski Area for a free beer persuaded me to swing by with my kids after a day on the slopes, and we were all glad we did. While we hadn't made reservations, we were quickly seated in the downstairs dining room, which had a cozy, lodge-like feel to it. We started with steamed clams, which were served in a delicious, hearty broth I wanted to drink out of the bowl. We ordered baby back ribs, which were so tender the meat fell off the bones, two cheeseburgers, which were big and tasty, and chicken fingers, and were large and flavorful enough to appease our picky eater. Solid spot neat the NJ/Penn border. The staff is incredibly friendly and outside views are truly ideal for a serene chill vibe with a burger and beer. We got a salad and burger and they were both decent. Though good, the burger was a bit of a letdown. Their staple burger with blue cheese which was layered with too many toppings the bun got soggy and fell apart in minutes. I also understand that blue cheese is a strong flavor but it shouldn't overpower the actual taste of what you're paying for (the meat!). My family and friends of mine just ate at this restaurant. We arrived around 740 and it took over 1 hour and 10 mins to get our meal. We had 5 children in our party and they gave us no warning of the time nor did they offer anything for the kids to snack on. All we got was we are doing the best we can. When our meal did come one of the meals did not arrive while another arrived very undercooked. As you can see from the attached picture the medium steak was way undercooked. Coleslaw was very bland & needed seasonings & goodies in it. Cheesesteak sandwich was pretty good but needed a lot more cheese & seasoning. My husband loved the mashed potatoes. I'm giving Sports Arena a low rating due to the inappropriate behavior of the owner. I was there for my son's friend's birthday party. Since the room was crowded, I stepped outside to take care of some business. While I was busy, the owner interrupted me and abruptly asked, "Do you think it's hot in here?" I replied that I was in the middle of something, but he continued to push for an answer. The exchange felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. I was surprised to find out he was the owner. As someone running the place, he should respect guests' boundaries and not insert himself into private moments. People should be able to enjoy events without being disturbed if they're clearly minding their own business. read more
