I first went to Parrots about 20 years ago and always knew it to be a chill neighborhood dive bar; but after returning for the first time since COVID I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was under new ownership. They've kept the chill neighborhood vibe and all things quirky that make Parrot's unique, while upping the food game. The menu consists of standard bar fare, with everything from sharable appetizers to burgers and pizza. The steak nachos were surprisingly delicious: a combination of homemade chips drenched in yummy processed cheese sauce with flavorful bites of steak. The pizzas are light and thin tavern style and perfect for sharing. Both food and drink prices are super reasonable, and the staff is friendly. Will certainly be back more frequently!

Fun dive bar for the locals that we stumble across during St. Patrick's Day weekend . They had board games and drinks specials. We order at the bar but employees were going around picking up glasses and cleaning tables for new drinking patrons. $5 green beers for the win during St Patrick's day weekend.

Amazing bartenders, come here for a good time! 10000/10!! Bunch of amazing cool down to earth industry people. Fuck you lauren S

I first came to parrots about 2 years ago. I was relatively new to the city at the time and had my local bars decided. Fortunately, I had an annoying roommate who disparaged Parrots. He was legitimately scared. I've always been a contrarian so I elected to go in one day. When you walk in, it's a bit of a time warp, and that's awesome. Prices are more than fair and the selection will leave no one wanting. When I first came here, there was a legendary bartender/owner named Grant. I brought friends here and asked how the pizza was. Deadpan, the man says to me, "honestly... best frozen pizza in Chicago." He was right. So I don't what you need out of your neighborhood bar, but I can confidently say that Parrots won't miss. RIP Grant - thank you for making us feel at home while we were wandering. It will never be the same here, but we'll keep coming here because you made this place a home

This was my first trip to Parrots and I will definitely be back. Mike is a pro behind the bar and welcomed our whole group. There's pool, lots of space, good drinks, and friendly regulars. Thanks, Parrots!

The staff was super attentive and kind, checking on us frequently. My friend and I stopped by for happy hour, and this should absolutely make it onto the list of the best in town. They have delicious wine, cocktails, and bites for nearly half of the regular price. I opted for the happy hour prosecco to drink, which was light-bodied and not too sweet. We split the meatballs and dates for bites and both were outstanding. I was super impressed with how tender the meatballs were, and they did not skimp on the flavorful marinara and cheese! The dates, which were topped with a white wine cheese sauce, were mouth-wateringly delicious and a must order. There was also complimentary focaccia with olive oil, which was greatly appreciated. With sea salt on top and a crispy exterior, I could easily have eaten a whole loaf. The only note I have is that the portions are small, so if you don't come during happy hour the prices are a bit steep for what you get. Will 100% be back soon to try more of the menu and highly recommend making the trek over here!

The staff were super friendly too and gave us some awesome recommendations, which definitely helped because there were so many things I wanted to try. I ordered the Harissa Shakshuka, it came with roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, goat cheese, and two poached eggs, served with sourdough toast. When it came out, the presentation immediately caught my attention. The two poached eggs were sitting right on top of this beautiful, rich sauce, with the goat cheese scattered throughout. Once I cut into the eggs and that runny yolk mixed into everything underneath... wow. The flavor was outstanding. The tomatoes and roasted peppers gave the dish a deep, slightly sweet and savory base, while the harissa added a warm, smoky heat that slowly built with each bite. The garbanzo beans were soft and tender, adding this really nice texture. And the sourdough toast was perfect for this. I could scoop up the sauce, egg yolk, beans, and peppers all in one bite. That's when the dish really came together. This was a seriously delicious breakfast. Every bite had something going on, and I'd definitely order it again.

The location is great and easy to get to, which is one of the reasons we decided to stop in. The atmosphere was fun, and the restaurant was very quiet that evening. Since it wasn't busy, we expected quick service and were looking forward to relaxing for a bit. Unfortunately, that's where our experience fell short. We were seated right away but then waited about 15 to 20 minutes without ever being greeted by a server. Multiple servers and bussers walked past our table several times, yet no one acknowledged us or even let us know someone would be with us shortly. It honestly felt like our table had been forgotten. Because we were never able to place an order, I can't comment on the food or drinks. We ended up leaving before anyone came to our table. The wait time itself wasn't the issue. We were seated immediately. The problem was waiting 15 to 20 minutes after being seated without receiving any service, especially at a nearly empty restaurant. As for value, it's hard to judge since we never had the opportunity to order anything. However, spending nearly 20 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us made the experience feel like a waste of time. It's unfortunate because the atmosphere and location were great, but the lack of service completely overshadowed the rest of the experience. I hope this was just an off night, but based on this visit, I can't recommend it.

He's been certified for 3 yrs* Upon walking up to the establishment with my fiancé and service dog, there was an officer there wearing a badge. He acknowledged how cute Rory (my service dog) was and stated he was a service dog. He then asked if he could pet Rory, I said yes that would be fine with me. Another gentleman, not sure what role he played at the establishment, approached us while the officer was still there. He began questioning me and Rory's legitimacy on being a service dog since he just saw the officer pet him. I informed him that the officer had asked and I said it was ok. He then said "we have a lot of people that pretend their dogs are service dogs to get them in"; I replied I have his badge and the dog trainer's(dog training elite) number to contact her. He allowed us in. Less than a minute latter when my finance, Rory, and I were walking to a table, the bouncer/manager re-approaches us and says we have to leave predicated on the notion I let an officer say hi and pet Rory after the officer had asked. The law allows establishments to only ask 2 questions when it comes to service animals; 1) Is it a legitimate service animal? 2) What service is the service animal providing? I was only asked #1, if Rory was a service animal, I am allowed to give my service animal a break on occasion and I decide who can and can't say hi to him. Have never been discriminated like this in my life. And will never be returning to the facility.
