The inside has a unique, nice feel to it. The service can be a of a bit of a hit or miss, but the food more than makes up for it. The sandwiches are great, I haven't tried all of them, but I've had quite a few and haven't been disappointed. We ordered cheese, pizza, breadsticks, and a specialty pizza. I felt that the staff was very generous very helpful. For some reason. We just don't enjoy the cheese that they use. My son and the people that were having a sleepover had mentioned that the cheese tasted off to them. I'm not sure what it was, but I just didn't mesh well with us. Overall the food was as good as I remember. Unfortunately they have no answering machine that gives you any information or store hours when you call. Wish they had it posted and were open more often. Also would have been nice to know how much I paid for my food. They don't have a paper menu nor do they have their menu board anymore. Pretty sure that is not legal... I paid almost $60 for two medium pizzas and a full order of breadsticks. I assume that it's about right but it would really be nice to have known ahead of time. Still the best pizza I have ever eaten and I highly recommend you check it out. Hopefully they will get things together soon. read more

Best pizza in the area hands down. If they are open and call they answer as fast they can and will deliver on a very timely manner. The delivery driver was always respectful and always on time when they said they would be there. Pick up is easy and the store is always clean and very welcoming. Ok, so the place doesn't look like a super dooper family eatery, but it's clean and has AMAZING pizza! I can honestly say that I've NEVER had a bad pizza from them. It's pretty warm inside during the summer, with the big ole pizza oven going, but then you just get more refills of your favorite beverage. People tend to complain about the greasy nature of the pizza but that's because they use 100% real cheese grated every morning, no fillers added like most pizza places now. If you want the best NY-style pizza, go to NY, if you want the best "California" Pizza, go have fun driving in LA . . and if you want pizza that tastes as good as you always wished all other unpretentious middle-American pizzas actually tasted, you come to Colusa county, CA. How many times have you seen a billboard, menu photo, or flier for some random middle-of-the-road pizza joint, and the photo looks delicious - - but no matter how hungry you are, the taste of the actual pie never quite lives up to how good you hoped and dreamed it would? Well, once you taste a slice of pepperoni at Riverbank, you'll realize what crap you've been settling for all these years. A Riverbank pie is a three-prong attack: a marinara that is sweeter and tangier than you'll find elsewhere without tasting at all artificial (go ahead and ask for extra sauce in the pie, it's that good), a chewy flower-kissed crust that succeeds by being good enough to eat on it's own (a little butter, garlic, and olive oil and it's a meal unto-itself), and a blanket of molten mozzarella cheese that sandwiches in the sauce without overdoing things. I've spent the last 20 years of my life trying to convince myself that this pizza really isn't as good as I've always known it was. I grew up in Colusa county, and remember when Riverbank Pizza actually was a tiny shack right on the banks of the Sacramento river (it's a few blocks from the river now). . . So I've always assumed that I was a bit biased in my affection - - but I just had a large extra-sauce pepperoni from them last week while I was up visiting family - - and I'm finally prepared to rule out nostalgia/sentimentality as a significant factor. I've by no means had every pie in NY, but I always eat at every reputable joint I can find when I'm lucky enough to be over there. I've lived in LA for 10 years, and there couldn't be more than 2 or 3 great pizza joints that I haven't already sampled extensively here (Zelos' cornmeal pizza in Monrovia being one of my current faves). . . but I've had enough pie in the past few decades to confidently recommend Riverbank to anyone who wants to taste the pinnacle of unpretentious, affordable, delicious "generic American style" pizza. I eat reasonably healthy these days, I only eat pizza on special occasions, and on those occasions, I'm ordering lighter non-meaty things like pizza Margaretta, or some wacky Californian concoction combining non-standard caramelized veggies and crumbling cheeses. When I go to Riverbank, I order a good old-fashioned greasy pepperoni with extra sauce, something I wouldn't dare order from anyone else on this planet - - nobody else has the flavor to make something so simple taste so perfect. . . I'm not going to clog my arteries for anything less than the best. If you appreciate regional pies of extraordinary quality, you owe it to yourself to make the journey to Riverbank at least once. Of course it looks very unassuming from the outside. Of course the interior decor is only what it needs to be to make the locals feel welcomed (though they had some awesome sci-fi/horror memorabilia up on the walls last time I was in). . . don't go casting judgment until you're face to face with your first Riverbank pie. Colusa is not a town you're likely to be "passing through" (highway 20 and 45 that pass through the town are mainly used for travel between other nearby rural communities, AFAIR) - - but if you find yourself on the I-5 between Sacramento and Chico/Redding, Riverbank is worth the 20 mile due-east detour from the interstate. And yes, like the other reviewer mentioned, I too crave this pizza daily. DAILY! read more

This pizza is the shizzy. I wouldnt say its my all time fave pizza, but its definately up there. The only reason its not my fave is the floppability factor. You know the floppability factor, right? Like, hold up a slice of pizza by the crust. If it flops down and everything slides off, the floppability factor is too high. ...Or maybe the topping are too much/hefty?? ...which is deffo NOT a crime. Dang. Now I have to reevaluate this whole thing. Look, Im a half a bottle of wine and 3 slices into this review, so bear with me. Toppings- generous, fresh, delicious. Served hot and fresh. We visited here based on other reviews, and I'm glad we did! The pizza was excellent -- nothing fancy, just tasty American-style pizza, with a great crust, sauce that isn't too spiced up, and fresh toppings. The service wasn't the friendliest we've had, but wasn't rude, either. (We did visit on the day after a major holiday, and when we arrived the lone staffer was overworked, as she was taking orders and making the pizzas.) The "medium" pizza was 15"/16" diameter, which would qualify as "large" back home, and it was only about $15 for that and two soft drinks -- excellent value, and great pizza. We'll definitely be stopping here again the next time we're in the area. read more

Trust me when I say, the guy had a runny nose, and he took our order AND served our food with tissue paper shoved up his nose and sticking out of his nostrils... Yes, both nostrils. He was also pretty rude. On to the food: The Pizza flavor here has always been one of a kind, I've loved it since I was a kid. any pizza on the menu was great, also the buddie breads were something out-of-towners would come back for... Recently it's gone extremely down hill. If you order pepperoni, you'll be served about 1/2 gallon of oil on top. Buddy bread is still pretty good. Salad bar is really slim Pickens. There's not much of a selection there. Cleanliness: its not bad. I've never sat in a dirty seat. I don't know how else to describe the experience here other than Rude. As you may know, I love pizza. There is only one thing I like more than pizza, and that is a pizza buffet. That being said, this place was good. The building is a little old, but the service was great and the food really good. They had a very nice salad bar with good toppings. The pizza was flavorful, nice crust, and good toppings. I had two slices of the red onion and jalapino pizza, and paid for it later, but it was worth it. The large container of fresh brewed ice tea was a plus too. I only gave it three stars because of the condition of the building, and the pizza was a little on the greasy side. Other than that great food and I would go back. read more

Ol Skoo pizza, for sure. I'm eating the Ultimate pep, which is a pepperoni and cheese, but double everything. Its heavy, greasy ass-kicking pizza that will possibly leave you regreting it digestively tomorrow. Better with beer than anything. I've had more CPK and BJs deep dish pizzas than anything recently, and this is a definite step away. Less M3, more Chevelle.
