Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent tzatziki appetizer. Tasty shrimp and grits, though somewhat small and limited shrimp. Good kids meal options. For some reason, we were told the BLT did not include tomato, and that we'd have to request if we wanted it. The cook translated that as "extra tomato" to comical effect. 3.5 stars. This is a very casual little cafe across from the river in St. Mary's . I have not tried everything, but have never been disappointed by the tast, quality and freshness of their food. I mostly order. The Greek selections because they are delicious, we'll prepared and great seasoning. The helpings are large, and the service is fast and friendly. They have a great variety of desserts, both Greek and standard fare. This is a very picturesque spot to relax and enjoy the day. After dinner you can poke around the little shops or take a nice walk along the river. read more

This is a pretty decent restaurant. It's not the best, but if you are in the area and need a quick meal this is the place for you. I have been there two times and both times I got the Riverside burger (a mix of veal, pork and lamb) on top of a Greek salad with pita bread on the side. The burger is a bit on the small side, but it is a decent size entree and the pita bread is always warm and very tasty. My husband has tried the regular cheeseburger and said it tasted like a frozen patty. He has also tried the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was a bit dry and overcooked, The fries are great though! So I guess it is a hit or miss type place. read more

The service here is fantastic!!! The view on the water is so tranquil!!! I'm from the north and am very picky about my calamari, this is the first place since down here and it is the best!!! I love the flavors of the chef salad with their house dressing!! Their tomato sauce that is served is the most flavorful!! We ate here because I love sitting outside with a good view. Thats one of my favorite reasons to eat out! A great atmosphere and someone else cooking and doing the cleanup, yes please!! This place had that, but it was confusing because there were only 4 aluminum tables outside and it looked almost like a coffee house. We went inside to get a menu and there were people crammed into this small dining room. I dont know how they make money because there didnt seem like enough tables to accomadate that many people and the dining room was noisy and hot. Kinda reminded me of a bad rec room you rent out in a church basement. I mean why dont restaurant owners pick up on the need to show some effort in your decor?! Anyways, we sat outside and I ordered wine and my husband had a local beer. All good so far. We both ordered burgers. The service was really slow and dinner was ok. The real kicker was this meal, with tip included, was 50 dollars! It was not worth 50 bucks for a quick bite...will return on a slow day for a drink but not worth a long waited cramped meal :( read more

The name Riverside Cafe is unassuming in that this restaurant is a truly an authentic Greek restaurant. It offers a variety of American and seafood dishes as well. Everything on the menu is amazing. Being well traveled and of Greek descent, this is a local secret and gem. If you have never had Greek food, this is the place to go in Camden County and North Florida. I recommend the chicken lemon soup as an appetizer with the Mousaka (eggplant lasagna) entree. Last month they offered a grilled special octopus appetizer that when I closed my eyes and tasted the texture and spices I literally thought I was on a Greek island. The veranda view of the waterfront is simple yet Georgia beautiful. Tonight I ordered their amazing coconut cream cake for dessert. As they say in Greek "Kali Orexi!" Our experience was absolutely positive. We're from Miami so we are used to lots of choices. We toured Cumberland Island and everyone was tired and hungry after a long day - we requested made-to-order dinners for our two children and they loved them. Homemade chicken rice soup was delicious. Go at sunset and you will have a beautiful view looking out over the river! It was a little pricier than a normal cafe, but your first beer/ glass of wine is free! The atmosphere is relaxed and I would recommend this cafe for a summers evening when you can sit on the deck. read more

We had the best meal in a while here. I got the seafood platter (fried fish, crab cakes, shrimp). They were perfectly fried, the shrimp were juicy, and the fries were even exceptional. The crab cakes did not have a lot of filler. My wife got a great greek salad. The key lime pie was tangy and creamy. This was the first place I've ever seen that had Napoleon torte. I want to say that we had good food and others around seemed to have a great experience. Ours was not. The service was awful. We arrived and were seated the waitress came and told us the specials, and got drinks. Comes to take our order and after ordering we are told they are put of that item, and another item one person wanted to order. She is surprised that we need more time. We wait and she is with other customers. Comes back and takes our order. We wait for 45 minutes making total wait time to an hour. The waitress finally acknowledges the wait and says the food will be up. I am direct and ask that in the future she let people know as everyone has gotten there food. Some who ordered after us have eaten and even left. I look up in the window and a plate is there for a couple minutes. I joke that whoever gets that sandwhich and fries is getting cold food. It was sitting there. The other 2 orders come out and its ours. Sure enough the grilled cheese and fries are cold. I take it to the counter where I'm immediately given attitude, but they remake it. The grills cheese comes out, and we are told fries were made fresh and brought out after. The waitress is rarely seen. When she comes to find out about how we want the bill, I'm very direct in saying the grilled cheese should be free. 1 hour and 15 minutes is pretty long to wait. She goes and talks to a women, I will assume from attitude she is the owner. I see the owner starting towards us, and do not want her at the table. She has already made my niece upset and cry. I try to explain, to which her response is did she eat it. Fine I said I would pay and to just give me the bill. She storms away and says give it all to him for free and that I should never come back. I just acknowledged I would pay and had no intention of returning ever. No bill so I set 40 on the counter and the jerk from counter says I was rude and aggressive to the waitress and my bill was 45. I add 5 and we leave. So asking to be notified of wait times when people ordering after you get there food and some leave is aggressive. Sorry for being "aggressive" when this a courtesy I would offer and person in my restraunt, sorry for expecting warm food after waiting an hour, and most of all sorry for expecting to be have free food when a grilled cheese and fries is served cold. read more

The food is pretty horrible to say the least. Ordered spaghetti, and it was watered down at the bottom. Greek salad had a small portion for the price, and the dressing was chunky and unrefrigerated (for who knows how long). Outside seating was nice enough, staff was friendly. This is my default luncheon place when friends come to visit, or I have a surprise afternoon with the hubs. I love their chicken salad pita, and their fries are really good. Nice atmosphere, beautiful patio/deck area to sit outside on a nice day and enjoy the waterfront, and staff is nice. They have really nice desserts if you aren't full with the generous portions you are given. But if you are, you can always take something to go. Highly recommend stopping by even if you are breezing through. Saint Mary's and Kingsland are a popular pit stop off of 95 so if you are in town for a night, or just for lunch, it's worth it to pop on over. read more

The menu is limited to basics and Greek foods. I had a wonderful Lemon Rice chicken soup and burger for lunch. It's not what I was looking for but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The restaurant is clean, bright and the people are very friendly and helpful. This is one of the few restaurants near the water that is clean and air conditioned. I will definitely go back again. Went in after visiting Cumberland. I ordered the hummus appetizer. It costs 6.95 and consisted of (1) piece of pita bread and (2) tablespoons of hummus. The bread I buy in my grocery store and for six pieces it is 3.00. So 50 cents for the bread retail and the hummus was homemade: what's the price of garbanzo beans (2) tablespoons? If you are remotely concerned with a budget, do not stop there. read more

If I had to discribe it in one word, it would be "disappointed. " The location is great, with views of downtown Saint Mary's and the river. But that's where greatness stopped. Overpriced would be understatement. Without trying, it is very easy to spend $45-50, with tip, on lunch for a family of four. The food quality and quantity was not there. We had the Greek dishes and they were delicious. The tsasiki was wonderful. The service was a little slow but they were very busy and the restaurant was cold.
