My first impression was a great accommodation by the office of our mistake. Our first visit, we got the appointment wrong by 30 minutes. The staff simply accommodated us when we got there, re-arranged their schedule, and got our 8 year old, special needs from China, her initial exam and cleaning. All graciously done, on their own initiative. And they did an excellent job minimizing the scary parts of our daughter's first time in the chair (and newly arrived from China too). When she came home, she was smiling, brave and confident; ready for more. The hygienist was also able to effectively treat and diagnose some gum issues, plaque and cavities she came from China with. All highly satisfactory. A special shout out to their skill in treating our handful of a 9 year old autistic son. Not a peep to be heard from the waiting room while she worked alone with him, having just met for the first time. Impressive! A nice looking office. Staff is very friendly. We've got three more kids in for cleaning at the same time right now and they're all getting the same fun treatment. Given the language barrier of our children; some special needs issues; and given the bright, engaging office and staff I give Riverside an enthusiastic five stars. read more

My wife and I as well as our kids have been patients of Dr. Messenger for eight years. He is a great dentist and his office as well as hygenists are all very pleasant and knowledgeable. He keeps up with the latest in dental technology but still believes in family dentistry and connecting with his patients on a personal level. He truly cares about his patients as people and not just as business income. He is open and honest but will not try to sell you on a procedure that is not needed. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist and even those not looking since you can save money elsewhere but you often get what you pay for at other open and go cursory cleaning and visit locations. With Dr, Messenger you get what you pay for and know that your teeth have been thoroughly checked and cleaned. I had porcelain veneers "applied" by Dr, Messenger and the result is that I have a great smile that I don't mind showing off thanks to his hard work and dedication to perfection. I've been going to Riverside Dental for over a year now. I really like both Dr Hough for my dentist and Alona for my hygienist. Both are very friendly and kind and they explain procedures to me in a way that I can understand. They really have the patient's comfort as a high priority. I've had some hygienists from other dental offices that were gentle and some that were very painful so I was so relieved with my first cleaning appointment with Alona. I never had soreness from her procedures and she is just a lovely person to chat with. She has given me some really good tips on improving my at-home dental care and it's made a difference for me. Dr Hough is very patient. She tells me what is needed and advises me on how urgent something is so that I can make wise choices. I also notice the respect she gives to her staff members. The office staff is very courteous and helpful too. I really feel they go above and beyond to schedule appointments and process insurance claims for their patients. Overall, Riverside Dental is a great place and I would highly recommend them. read more

LOOKING FORWARD TO A TRIP TO THE DENTIST? Believe it or not, that's how I feel about Riverside Dental! The environment in the office is absolutely unique in my experience. In every position from the Dentist to the receptionist, the people at Riverside are welcoming, friendly, always willing to share a laugh or a story, and unfailingly focused on my welfare as a patient and as a person. That's what sets Riverside apart. There may be other dental offices that offer state of the art care with extremely well qualified, well trained specialists. But I have never experienced a dental office where these well qualified, well trained people really like each other and view themselves as part of a team that includes me! I am in my early 60's and have had 7 dentists over the years. Riverside Dental is the worst dental experience I have had. Actually, I have only had one other dentist that I left because I wasn't happy with the service and that service was better than Riverside Dental. Rather than write out a point by point explanation of my distressing experience I will simply say that they did poor work that required three visits to correct and it took 6 months to get back money I had paid on account. They had me put $300 down because they messed up in checking my dental insurance that paid all of my expense except for co-pays so they hung on to my deposit even after they correctly figured out my insurance paid 100% of their treatment plan and after I had made several requests for them to remit it to me. But it was the poor dental work that made me seek another dentist. read more

Anyone else out there dread the dentist as much as I do?? Dread no longer, Dr. Hough is such a wonderful dentist. She is so warm and friendly and puts you right at ease. She also has a great laugh. I love her laugh and I know you will too! I always seem to especially dread the cleaning. Gritty polish, sharp tools making my gums bleed, and the FLOSSING is always so aggressive! Well not anymore. The hygienist were so wonderful and gentle. No pain during or after :) And my favorite part was the frequent rinsing so I didn't have to sit with grit in my mouth at any one time for too long. The support staff was so welcoming and helpful in making appointments, filling out paperwork, and just being plan old friendly. Thanks Riverside for such a great visit! read more

I've been going to Riverside Dental for decades now (Dr. Messinger, my original dentist, retired years ago). Not only are Drs Hough and Harris extremely skilled at their trade, but I have FUN every time I come in - how many people can say they have fun at the dentist? The staff is always friendly and my experiences have been great every time. This time around, Sylvia did my cleaning, and she was not only personable and skilled, but she took extra care to get the tea stains off my teeth. And the doctors know what they're doing and do it very, very well. I think if you have anxiety around visiting the dentist, this is a good place to try, as I always quickly forget where I am and lie back to let my teeth be taken care of by consummate professionals. read more

Riverside Dental is fantastic! We started going about 2 1/2 years ago, and were concerned when Dr. Messenger retired, but Dr. Hough came in and they haven't missed a step! I just had my teeth cleaned and checked out at Riverside Dental for the second time. Tom is a great dental hygienist, and he is very thorough. He makes me feel comfortable, and he's easy to talk to. Dr. Kartje explains everything she is doing well, which puts me at ease.
