This review is for the Service department. The short story: The good - They washed my car even though I didn't end up getting any work done. They didn't charge me the $95 diagnostic fee. The bad - They would have charged me at least $511 for work that turns out to not be needed. ---------------- The longer story: It's Monday morning...I start my car and the Check Engine light comes on. I read someplace that it could be a gas cap issue but since I had gassed up 5 days ago, I discounted that theory. (I assumed that if it had been the gas cap, it would have turned on the Check Engine light a day after...not 5 days (and 6 trips) after.) So, I check the manual to figure out what else it could mean...there's a list and it also says not to drive the vehicle at high speeds if the light is on. $@#%...I was driving to work, on the freeway...75mph would be high speeds. So I take the car to to the dealership to have them check it out. An hour or so after, the advisor, Chris comes out with a long laundry list of things to work on my car totaling almost $1800. So I asked, what do I need to get fixed to deal with that Check Engine light. He says the Leak Detection Pump which is $511. So I ask if I really needed to get that done...and he tells me that I should. I'm like...okay, I will have to talk to my husband. (The truth was I needed to "talk" with the checkbook...I needed to figure out what I could move around in the budget for that $511. Also, I couldn't hang out there that day...I needed to get to work) So, they go off and wash my car. While they were washing my car, I googled this Leak Detection Pump...according to web sites I read it had to do with emissions and didn't affect how your car runs. I would have to get it fixed eventually because I wouldn't pass an emissions test if that light is on but other than it was not critical. That made me feel better about holding off. So I get my car, go to pay and found out they didn't charge me the $95. (hence the one star). Off I go to work. A day later, it was time to gas up...so I gas up and for giggles, I consciously counted how many clicks I turned that gas cap...three. I turn on the engine hoping that the light would turn off...nope....but it did say it could take a few trips. Two more engine restarts (the drive home from work and the the drive to work the next day) and the light was still on so I resigned myself that that Leak Detection Pump did need replacing...sigh. But something happened on the drive home the day after gassing up (it would be the third engine restart)...the light turned off. It had been the gas cap after all. I was so happy! Then I remembered that Riverside Mazda was going to charge me $511 to fix something that didn't need fixing (not to mention that $1300 other repairs they said should be done). Then I was annoyed. I could have had them go ahead and make the fix and I would have never been the wiser. Needless to say, I don't trust their service department and will as much as humanly possible, avoid going there. Update: I have since gotten my car maintained at a different Mazda dealership for its 85K service. Not one of the items on the laundry list came up as needed to be addressed items. Probably one of the worst places to buy a Mazda. The dealers use true car internet pricing to lure you inside then once you like the car. They then force you to buy unnecessary add on line tracing protection, paint protection and LoJack for 2000 plus extra. So a 21,500 price for a Mazda 6 gets jacked up to 23,500. What a joke, I can get a better car across the street for a Toyota Camry for 23,500 and no sales commission gimmicks. What was even more disappointing is I thought we would get some Vip treatment because we bought a CX5 from Mazda Riverside in 2015. So loyalty does not pay off for this dealer. Avoid them Not worth buying if you want a Mazda, try Orange County or Corona, they are more honest with upfront pricing. read more

I don't write many reviews so the length of this one should say something in and of itself. Scammers! It is a completely shady and unethical business practice to add a $1200 LoJack system on every vehicle and then claim "it's already installed, there's nothing we can do about it." A dealer shouldn't be installing something unless requested by the buyer. It is no different than putting $1200 of useless dealer installed accessories (mud flaps, door protector, upholstery protection, etc). It is simply a way for them to make $1000 of pure profit! Plus, how do you charge $1295 for a LoJack system that RETAILS for $695??? And you know it costs them much less than that since they're installing it on EVERY car. They'll claim every dealership does this but it is simply untrue. Sure, they'll quote you a great price over the phone or email. But that's because they are automatically making $1000 of pure profit on the LoJack! If you look at your email quote, it will say in the fine print, "does not include dealer installed accessories". And of course they won't tell you it, along with the $500 tint and $800 alarm system,is installed until you actually show up on the lot. This place is your typical car dealership. When you pull up, you have sales people standing by the front door ready to pounce on you as you get out of your car. There's an enclosed room full of the real bosses (decision makers) where the sales people go to get authorization, and every time the door opened, I heard screaming and a slew of profanity. There was even one instance where one person was standing in between two other employees, keeping them from getting into a physical fight. Keep in mind, the sales person you're talking to has very little power. Once you think you're done negotiating, they'll send a "manager" over who starts going over the REAL numbers, trying to sell you a $3000 maintenance package, a $2000 paint protection plan, Gap insurance for $900 (it's about $30 a year, or $150 for a five year loan, through your car insurance company FYI). I laughed out loud when the final, out the door price was $10,000 more! Yes, you read that right, $10,000 more of dealer fluff and profit! I will never buy a car from them. They use deceptive, old school car dealership practices hoping to take advantage of less savvy buyers. Even as an extremely diligent and knowledgeable consumer, I would stay away from this place like the plague. Anyone who claims to have had a positive experience here most likely did not know they were being ripped off. Of course they're going to love you when they're making thousands in profit off you! If you want an actual pleasant car buying experience, go to Hine Temecula. I bought my Mazda 6 from Son in the Internet department. I was in and out in less than an hour with no games, no hard sell, none of the usual car dealership games. Hine was straight forward and dare I say, actually enjoyable. I know, blasphemy! When I walked in to Hine Temecula, the first thing I noticed when compared to Riverside Mazda was how quiet it was. There were customers in there but the whole atmosphere was so much calmer. Just the exact opposite of the typical, high pressure dealership. And this is even when I paid significantly under invoice and True Car pricing on a Mazda 6. read more

I almost purchase a vehicle from the Mazda folks and when we were finalizing the financing they came back with a really high monthly payment. They repeatedly blamed it on a high interest rate, but the price was still inconsistent with the rate I was given. After some investigation, I found out they added $3,500 in warranties and other stuff WITHOUT telling or asking me about it. I have to wonder how many people they squeezed this by on. Unbelievable. So dishonest and just super shady. Needless to say I left and bought a vehicle elsewhere and am happy about it. Also, they make you buy a bunch of other options you don't want or need when buying a car here. Other dealerships do this, but not even half. Just the shady ones. this place is an absolute disgrace. i can't believe this is a real business. i can't even get transferred to the right department. I have to keep calling for repeated problems and yet asking for Mazda Service department gets me either hung up on, transferred to their Honda department, or on hold indefinitely. I was sold a faulty car with multiple problems within the first month of ownership. This is a brand new Mazda3. Why do I have leaking brake fluid, cut up tires and bent fenders. And why is it so hard to get my car fixed? I was supposed to pick up the car after the service department was closed. We called to tell them we would be late and they were supposed to leave the keys with the sales department. Despite calling them the same day as pick-up, they neglected to give our key to the sales people so our HOUR LONG drive to the dealership resulted in nothing but another day with lost productivity and no car. Had my True Car price and did plenty of research before calling and speaking with Felipe who guaranteed me that the price on the True Car email would be honored. When we got there we were passed on to a salesman who basically told us that the True Car price wasn't going to be honored because there were discounts checked I didn't qualify for. This was a complete lie and I showed them the email that had only the Amex discount showing. They then tried to say that the car had extras etc. it was a complete bait and switch. I will make sure True Car is notified because I'm sure this isn't how the program works. We had traveled an hour to get to this dealer and felt confident we were getting a good price. The dealership couldn't care less that we were unhappy customers and I would never buy another car or go back to this dealership again. If I could give negative stars I would. Horrible horrible people. I purchased a mazda 3i from them, and when we settled on a price, i was rushed into the financing dept. They said i wouldn't need gap protection when we negotiated but in the finance office they wanted me to sign for it, i refused, and then had me for all the warranties even though they never went over it with me. They finally sold me on a service agreement which they said would cover everything, but when I bought my car in today to a different mazda, it only covers oil changes and tire rotation. I called last week and the service guy called and said it covered everything and when I asked how do i Cancel he gave me run around. Stopped by this dealership with my boyfriend Chris earlier today. We had an appointment with Jaylen between 9-10AM and had agreed on a price beforehand ready to make a deal. We arrived at 9.50 AM and Jaylen wasn't even there. We were helped by someone else (sorry forgot his name) but he was very nice and the only reason for these stars. Poor guy had to walk around trying to locate a gray CX-3 for us because the stock # Jaylen wrote down was mistakenly for the metallic CX-3, NOT the gray CX-3. The nail in the coffin was the manager who told Chris he'd give him $20 to run off to South Bay Mazda because there's no way they would offer us a better deal. Not going to lie... Riverside Mazda had some competitive prices but Chris wouldn't take the rudeness and I stand by his decision. We didn't run but we sure showed up at South Bay Mazda this same evening. We were at Riverside Mazda for 2 hours, most of which was them trying to locate the car. It has now been just 40 minutes at South Bay. After he quoted us the final price a couple of days later he added packages that he CLEARLY didn't explain to us. We didn't want them they just added them. When I refused to buy the car he got his panties in a bunch and stormed off disrespecting my family and I. Very first time buying a car, and as excited as I was, this place brought me down really quick. I test drove the car I was looking at, and the salesman that was with us was not that friendly. The sales manager tried to work a price, all the while being very rude. I had done plenty of research prior to looking for my car and knew exactly what I could and could not get. With the payment I was looking for, the manager made me feel really stupid as if I didn't know what I was talking about and said that's not going to happen because your a first time. He locked in a price on the car and I came back the next day to purchase. He then told me the car went from $19,700 to $25,000. When I asked why he said because they didn't know the navigation and LoJack was already installed in the car and they couldn't do anything about it. If you're trying to buy a car, especially after doing lots of research, you should not be made to feel stupid about how much your willing to spend. I went with John Hine Mazda in Temecula and James was very helpful and was a huge step from this place. I live in Moreno Valley and will definitely drive to Temecula for anything I need for my car in order to avoid this dealership. read more

Most overwhelming car shopping experience I've ever had. I walked in making it very clear that I was NOT buying a car that specific day and that I was just looking. I am well aware that this means NOTHING to sales representatives but I expect that if I come in making that very clear, at least be understanding and respectful that I don't want to talk numbers and negotiate. I attempted to contact Riverside Mazda last week to get pricing on the CX-5 via email. After some back and forth with Ciara, I was asked to call her to confirm pricing -- and I also made it clear that I had no trade in, was not a Mazda owner, nor in the military, so I didn't qualify for any of those incentives. I told her that I was on the way to get a Touring for 28000 OTD from another dealer, but it wasn't in white. She immediately said "We have it in white" to which I replied "It comes with a moonroof though." Her quick response was "Mine has a moonroof too". I was excited and headed to drive to Riverside immediately from Orange County. Once I arrived, I said I was looking for Ciara. According to the sales team, she was "with another customer", yet I saw no female employees the entire time except for the one behind the front desk. (I believe the Admin at the front desk is "Ciara" who does her best to get customers on site, where the rest of the staff take over. I was tempted to call "Ciara" again to see if the woman in the front desk would pick up and start talking.) Anyways, I was handed off to a different employee who was really nice and pleasant to work with. However, that's where the good stopped. They pulled out the car they said I inquired about and it was in fact white, but without a moonroof -- (how convenient, considering it is an extra 1100 MSRP). Luckily I noticed this, and after admitting their mistake, they pull up in a different configuration. In addition, the price I was "quoted" included the rebates, although I specifically asked not to include them, and the car they had in stock was over 1300 higher in MSRP than the one I was asking about. I wanted hassle-free pricing, but got just a big hassle. We sat down and the salesman wrote down 28000 OTD on his paper. After seeing this, I foolishly filled out the credit application, thinking that this was the final agreed upon sales price. Please do not fill out a credit application without confirming sales price first, people! Don't make my mistake. Because AFTER they pulled my credit report, the finance manager comes out and starts talking numbers, as if he were just trying to confuse me (Sorry, I have an engineering degree so I love math). He was just basically trying to reiterate numbers (invoices, MSRP, etc.) and get me to agree to a higher price than we agreed upon. After some back and forth, he eventually comes out a final time and admits that the whole time, he looked at the wrong numbers for invoice pricing. So one minute we were a few hundred apart in negotiations, and the next we were 3K apart because he was looking at the wrong numbers the whole time. When he came back with the 3K difference (which is mainly due to the fact that 1300 came from the higher MSRP which I didn't want, and another 1500 in 'rebates' that they included in their quote), we quickly shook hands and I said goodbye. So many warning signs. I don't know if it's a sales tactic to wear down the consumer or if it's just plain incompetence -- for the sake of humanity, I'm hoping its the former, but for the sake of insanity, I'm hoping it's the latter. It would take one hell of a deal for me to even think about driving back there. read more

Ive been a mazda owner for 7 yrs now and this was my first time visiting the Riverside dealership for an oil change. I previously went to the one locted in Ontario but they have since switched over to Kia and will no longer honor my Mazda Care plan which covers oil changes. The service dept at the Riverside branch were unable to find any info on my contract and for the first time ever i had to pay for an oil change. $71 out of pocket! On Saturday i had an appt, dropped the car off at 2pm, wasnt ready until 5pm. After paying and leaving the dealership, i got on the freeway and my steering wheel froze and all my check engine lights came on. I pulled over, called the service dept back, explained what happened but they were less than helpful because they had closed for the day. It was suggested that i drive back, drop my car off, leave it until they opened again on MONDAY. I was told they wld pay for an Uber home put couldnt offer me a rental because everything was already closed for the day. After hanging up i turned my car off and back on again, some of the lights turned off and my wheel unlocked. I drove the remainder of the way home. When we popped the hood at home, it turns out the cable to my battery was loose. I assumed this happened when they checked the voltage??? And didnt properly connect it back?? Once we tightened it up, lights turned off and car runs as it did BEFORE visiting this place. I am extremely frightened and disappointed in the lack of care and attention to detail at the job on hand from the technician and service dept. I will never again visit this dealership ship and will discourage other people to as well. Problem after problem. I understand everyone is human and makes mistakes but at what cost is that acceptable and what standards does this service dept hold its employees too? I bought my Cx5 like 5 months ago I love my cx5 but I have some issues with the service department I had some issues with my front cámara and on the third time they finally fixed it and I just recently went in for my oil change and when I left the service department I had a big screw so I went back to deal with that and get a new tire they sent my car to a tire shop witch they scratched and did a bad dent in it so I told them I was not going to take my car like that it was never damaged I even called Wendy to make sure they wouldn't scratch my rim and she said they use rubber grips to remove the rim but it took them almost a week and a half to get my tire fixed I finally was done with them because no one would call me to let me know that my car was ready so went to the general sales manager Zabi Kabir he help me out and took the 155.00 dollars off for the new tire I would go back and buy a car there but they really need the do something with there service department read more

Horrible experience tonight at Riverside Mazda!!! I should have read reviews first and I would have definitely stayed away.

I went in recently to buy a Mazda3 I Touring (automatic) advertised as a KFI Special. Basically, it was around $16,345 after the dealer discount off MSRP (approx $20,350). Seemed like a pretty good deal for a 2012. Went to the dealer and looked at the car, drove it, and sat down to get the Out The Door price so I could go to my bank and get the money. Well.....the number that came up, despite it being an advertised special, and despite my brief discussion on the phone regarding the special before I came in about the car price being as advertised, was $17,500. The fine print, at the bottom (of course) said the car was sold with dealer installed accessories, in this case a LoJack. They refused to take the system off, saying it was not possible (however, it WAS possible for the dealer to install the system.......), and said I should be happy because the LoJack system is normally $2,000, but they were letting it go for $1,000! Wow, thanks...... I knew the LoJack system is around $250-300 dealer cost, and marked up from there, but marked up to $2,000? Apple would love that kind of margin. So I went elsewhere, and bought my car at another dealer for $150 more, with no BS and no small print. read more

I usually go to the dealer I purchased the car from to give them the business and because they did a good job getting me into the car. Last Thursday is the last time i will ever go back here again. I live about 45 mins from the dealer and work in Santa Monica so it is by all means out of my way to go here, my mom usually takes it for its services. My 2nd to last service with this mazda we asked for the tires not to be rotated due to the tires on the front being basically new, they said thats not a big deal. We waited and waited even with having an appointment so when they gave us the car back we didn't check. I got home noticed they did so i paid an additional 20$ to a tire shop to rotate them back or i could have driven 45 mins to an hour back to the dealer. Thursday when she went in she asked them not to rotate the tires since they are in better condition than the back, again said sure no problem. She didn't think to check but when the car made it back to me i checked and same thing again. I looked at one of my tires and it was also low so i walked around my car tested every tire and non of them were the same? I thought it was part of the service i guess not. I drove it to the tire shop another 20$ gone. And all the pressures are equal. If you take your car here to be serviced double check there work and what you ask since they cant seem to listen and I'm out an extra 40$ on top of the gas and time wasted going here. read more

Another update review after I got my car back this past Sunday.. initially got it back last Friday after they said my car is ready. Picked it up Friday. Got back to my shop and realized my trunk wont open. Had to bring it back again. Not just only that. They even put 500 plus mile on my car. I asked them about that and they say said the had to keep driving the to reset the monitor. I understand tech need to drive the car tr o correct or replicate the issue to pin point the problem. But please 500 mile add to my car. Clearly shows someone's been taking my car for personal use. There's no reason for my car to have to be driven that much to reset the monitor's especially for an evap code that popped up with the check engine light. My car has been in the shop since the 11th. They didn't find out what's wrong with the car till the 18th. And I was told itll be ready till the next day. That day came still no updates. I had to call again. They said the same thing they had to keep driving the car to reset the monitor. So within 3 days so from the 18th to the 21st they put 500 miles on my car from . Wow clearly shows how my car has been abused. So why a 1 star rating? My car is new and still under warranty it only has 25550 mile on it. When I took it in. When I got the car back it had a total of 26089 miles. I've talked to my lawyer about this and he even said its unacceptable. And he will be looking into it. Very disappointed with the way things turned out. And thanks to the owner for reaching out to me on here. But I shouldn't have to reach back out to you if there's an issue. Perchased a car today from this dealer.... The negotiation process dragged on for longer than i thought it should have....they promissed an extended warrenty free (4years) if we agreed to stay with a montly payment of $269.00 for 6.9%...when my budget was no more than $250.00 and only after we signed is it clear that the extended warrenty is $2,000 ....-_- wth?? The car also has some scratches on it that they have promissed to fix along with the paint on some areas that after they washed it they noticed there was circular imperfections on it. Also they owe me some matts for thr interior..I hope they keep up with this end of there deal when we take the car to get detailed this thursday... read more

I purchased my Mazda in 2014, but am scarred for life by this place and if I never have to purchase another car again, I would be happy just due to my experience at this particular dealership. I traded in my Dodge Charger in for a 2015 Mazda 3 Sport and I must say this was the worst experience I have ever had purchasing a car. I ended up leaving the dealership 5 HOURS AFTER arriving and felt as if I wasn't taken care of at all. I came in because my car had a recall. As soon as I walked in I was acknowledged with a friendly greeting. When the service person who was helping me got the mileage from my car, he noticed that my dash was coming apart. He offered to get it fixed since my car was still under warranty. He let me know that the service would take longer and offered to order me an Uber. When I picked up my car, everything was fixed and my car was washed. The staff was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. They have earned all of my future business even though I live closer to the Temecula location. 10 out of 10 would recommend. read more

Literally have been coming here since 2006 when my mom bought me a 2002 protege as my first car in high school for its first check up, since she bought it from a friend. First David was my service technician then he moved to a different dealership. Then I met Wendy and she is so awesome and knowledgeable. Her colleagues and Manager are awesome as well, when she's not there I know I'll be well taken care of. I've also bought 2 cars from here with the most awesome sales person named Ivan. Ivan has actually had to deal with me twice and my baby sister. And we appreciate him for that. He makes it comfortable and fun, I highly recommend him if you're looking for a car. read more

AWFUL! Hate this place! I will NEVER buy another vehicle from this place again! Trying to make he numbers work for the payment I could afford was a nightmare. The guy who was running the numbers was getting mad because I didn't tell him that my boyfriend and I were not married (duh it was on the application) then he got mad because when he said he couldn't get the payment any lower than $498 a month I said "ok well thanks for your time" and I proceeded to leave. He then stopped me and somehow miraculously got my payment down to $414 a month. A few days later they called and said I had to come back down because they needed to see my social security card and in doing so we discovered they had actually charged me over $3000 in add-ons that I was told were free, but since I had already signed the papers there was nothing they could do. THEN a month after I got the car, they still had not paid off my trade in and I was still making payments on the car (which means I was making payments on 2 cars!). When I went down there I was told by an extremely rude man that I needed to calm down and that I had nothing to be upset about. Well that made it worse and I got more angry when I started to explain my problem to this man who obviously didn't know what was going on, he said "why are you blaming me? I don't know you so you need to calm down if you want me to help you". Finally someone got that problem straightened out, but here we are 2 months after I got this new car and I STILL haven't received my license plates or the check reimbursing me for the extra money I paid for my car. So I get to go all the way down there AGAIN (45 minutes from my home) and find out what is going on. After posting this, I called them to find out about the money that was owed to me for y trade in, I was referred to ALEX who had hands down the worst service ever! He kept telling me there was nothing he could do about it that the business office closed at 4pm. When I told him I would be out of town until Monday and I would like to have the check tomorrow he said "that's not my problem, I guess you will just have to wait til you get back to town huh? ". I told him now I had been having the worst experience with this business and he said "we'll that's funny I have never had anyone tell me that before, it must be you". DO NOT purchase from this dealership, they are lying shady crooks that will tell you anything just to get your money. They are extremely pushy, uncomfortably so... I bought my car from them months ago and am still dealing with problems! Don't get me wrong, I love my car!! Don't believe them when they try to sell you the warranty/"extended confidence" contract--NOT full "bumper to bumper, inside & outside, 100% coverage" as they claim it is. You only find out that they make crap up months later when you FINALLY get the booklet for this in the mail with the true breakdown of what is & is NOT covered. (P.s. There's a $100 copay for each service you have done with the warranty program as well, NOT all free/completely free like they make it sound, surprise!!) I received an express service flyer in the mail. It advertised an oil change in 30 minutes or less. I went in during lunch break. I was told they could not perform the service as advertised in the Nissan flyer. It would be an hour and a half to two hours. I told the service advisor I would go somewhere else and he told me to have a nice day. I believe that falls under false advertising and failure to protect future business. (Business 101). read more

So my husband is a big one on doing his homework and researching safety, economy and looking for the best deal. So once he narrowed down which car he wanted, we went to Mazda Riverside for a test drive. The person that helped us was very knowledgeable and helpful. He gave us his card and told us to contact him when we were ready. So of course when we are ready, my husband starts notifying the different dealerships within a 50 mile radius including Mazda Riverside. Surprisingly they were not one of the dealerships that contacted us back right away (which should have been our clue). BUT because they are the closest and more convenient, he decided to go with them. He was able to negotiate a good deal (signed all the paperwork and put down the deposit), but he was told the car would not be delivered to their dealership until later that night or the next day. So Tuesday came and went (NO CALL, but not a problem), Wed no call in the morning so we called about 2ish and was told we would get a call back with the status (NO CALL). We called back Wed night (while we were at an Angels game) and again was told we would get a call back (NO CALL). We are not unreasonable people, we understand that deliveries sometimes come in late due to uncontrollable circumstances, BUT COME ON! Not even a call to say, "there is a delay or something". It felt like we were being ignored at that point. They had the contract and the money and their customer service went out the window!!!! Now it's Thursday, we call again around 12ish and again was told "everyone is extremely busy. We will call you back!" Well we are sick of hearing "we will call you back" when CLEARLY they DO NOT CALL BACK...so we take a drive and demand to know where the heck our car is! OH and wouldn't you know it, surprisingly...our car was "just" delivered! We will NEVER go back to this dealership again! I don't care how convenient it is! In a world were everything is so competitive, I can get a good deal somewhere else!!!!!! read more

I had an appointment today to have a seal applied to our 2017 CX-5. They would not do the car because it had dog hair on the floor. I understand that but they should have told us to get the car cleaned before we brought tbe car in. The front desk was ok but the department that does the work said they don't detail. I am very upaet with Maza right now. I would not recommend them at this point. read more
