Where do I start. This little diner is awesome. I visit lots of little diners... and should definitely be leaving more reviews... but after walking out of this one I had to review it. The menu selection is limited but it hits all of the hot spots that a breakfast diner should. Nothing too complicated. The staff is friendly and the food came out hot and fast. I got in minutes after they opened and everything was already ready for the day. The diner is clean and overlooks the Ohio river so it was nice to watch the barges go by while I was enjoying breakfast here. Definitely recommend this place. It's awesome. Support local. read more

Maybe it was just a bad food choice-- but they were out of several choices. Ordered a tuna melt with tater tots. The tuna was extremely fishy to the point of disgusting. The tater tots were edible. The view was very nice. It was enjoyable to watch the birds out the window. The service was mediocre. They were nice enough but not terribly responsive. My suggestion-- don't do the tuna melt. The fried chicken looked good but not available. read more

Mom and pop feeling resturaunt overlooking the Ohio river and the lock and dam. We've been a couple of time to the breakfast buffet. The selection is pretty limited (biscuits/gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, fried taters) but reasonably priced and tasted very good. My 9yo's fav breakfast spot. Beautiful view. Buffet was hot, but not the best. Misses were the mashed potatoes, hashbrown casserole and last scoop of mac and cheese. Maybe because they closed in an hour when we visited, maybe this was the issue. Wins were the scalloped apples, green beans, fried fish and the salad bar. Drinks are an extra 2.25 with buffet just under 14.00. The restaurant is on CST time, perfect stop on a motorcycle ride. The restrooms are down a steep set of stairs and hard for those of older age and or bad knees. read more

This restaurant has been in our town for close to 50 years. Home cooking style plate lunches, buffet with salad bar and hot food, or menu options like hamburgers, French fries, fried fish and beef manhattans. The restaurant has had multiple owners over the years and things have changed a lot with prices and menu options. It's still a decent place to get food. My only recommendation is to remove the lids from the hot food on the buffet. It's too awkward to have to look under every lid to see what is there, not to mention the potential for bacteria to be transmitted to the lids since everyone that comes to the buffett will be touching the lids. Lids look dirty too, I'm sure it's just staining but it's not appealing to the eye. read more

A go to o place for me when I am staying across the river. While tourists on motorcycles stop in on their rides, this restaurant is more a local diner. Food is made well. For breakfast I prefer to order off the menu rather than the breakfast bar. Most of the breakfast patrons seem to opt for it. Lunch menu is good to. The staff are very nice. This place seemed popular with the locals and a good spot for mill workers to grab a quick lunch. I went for lunch and got the buffet. Options included fried chicken and fish, beef stroganoff, elbow macaroni mixed in with crushed tomatoes, chicken and dumplings, sautéed vegs, a few other things and a salad bar. It was all pretty good but the staff wasn't too friendly. The view of the Ohio river was very nice! Since there isn't much in Hawesville, I would def come here again. read more

This sweet little restaurant is something to remember. The staff is incredibly welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. The food is unbelievable! We got the buffet and fried green tomatoes and dessert. Every bite was heavenly, I don't write Yelp reviews but this place deserves one hands down. It's a 3 hour drive from my school, which I will be making at least once a month to eat here. read more

Cute little place with a small town feel. Parking lot is pretty small but there is additional space across the street. Stopped by while traveling through and wasn't disappointed. They were having a buffet (not sure if that is a regular thing or not). Made myself a salad, had fried chicken, Mac-n-cheese, whole corn, mashed potatoes and a biscuit. read more

This was the best restaurant experience I've had in years. Delicious fried chicken and fish. All of Tyne side dishes were superb. And hands down the best view of any restaurant I've ever been in the America's. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I truly hope no one ever finds out about this place or we'll all be gladly waiting for hours to get in. Bravo! read more

April 2017: I visited the Riverview for the first time today. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger with tater tots. My total tab including a soft drink was just over $8 not including tip...very very reasonable. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was also nice and clean. My food was nice and hot. The tater tots were cooked to perfection...nice and crisp, just the way I like them. The portion size was appropriate. However, the burger was just average at best. The bun was institutional and not appetizing. The flavor of the burger was good and it was covered with a generous amount of swiss cheese and mushrooms. But the burger also looked institutional...a pre-formed quarter pound patty. I think with just a little additional cost, they could source a better bun and have a little bigger patty. Maybe the other menu offerings are better, but my experience was just average. THE VIEW...it's the main attraction in my book. The view of the river below and the Cannelton lock and dam is outstanding. read more

Salad bar was well stocked with fresh items. The waitress was kind and all the staff worked as a team to keep my drink filled or used plates picked up. Would visit again. This was our second and last time we will eat at Riverview. The seafood buffet was over cooked and featured basically all fried options. You could smell the burnt grease from the kitchen. The salad bar had a variety but was mostly tasteless. I encountered an extremely long hair in the pea salad which didn't belong to any of my party. The desserts were non descriptive puddings and grocery store cookies. River view is all this restaurant has going for it. read more

Nice place to eat, good service and food, came off the river after a day of fishing. Welcomed in and had the potato skins which were big and very well cooked, chicken salad was also big and very good, smoked wings were top notch would recommend this place to anyone wanting a laid back atmosphere, good food and nice people read more

We live in Owensboro, Ky but love to travel the 40 minute drive to the Riverview. I can't think of a time where the food or service was average or lacking. The catfish is the best! We also enjoy their fresh salad bar and sides. If you are in the vincinty of this fine restaurant, you don't want to pass on by. read more

I can not say enough good about this cute little place. The server was AWESOME, so friendly and cordial. The seafood buffet was GREAT. The salad bar had many fresh salads in addition to the normal, plus southern banana pudding (YUM) and freshly made cookies! The buffet had both whole catfish and fiddlers which were crisp outside, moist inside (perfect), wonderful fried chicken, shrimp, mini fried crabcakes, etc. I live several states away, but wish I could eat here all the time. We loved this place. The view is great too, and the server was telling us about their Sunday breakfast buffet, which sounds like a great deal at $6. If you're near here, you need to go! read more

I would recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. I remember being on a road trip when I was 10 yrs old. The food was good then and it's still good today. We eat there quite often. Has a very high view above the Ohio river, in a bend, where you can enjoy the view, far upriver and downriver! All of the menu items are very reasonable and good tasting.
