Had a great experience sitting on the deck and watching the water flow by. Blackened whitefish sandwich with house made chips, and the Cubano sandwich with onion rings. Flavor bombs all around. Just be aware that they make their fish with the skin on, so be ready for that. A great selection of beer and wine for the adults, and other drinks for those who choose not to indulge. Our server, Angela, was a real joy. Her recommendations proved to be on point, and he personality and professionalism were top notch as well. Also, it doesn't hurt that she's a Cubs fan!! The goat cheese dip and root chips are wonderful, just like Hopscotch in TC. However, hostess was not friendly at all--seemed huffy and overwhelmed, but we were seated right away even though it was a Friday evening and seemed busy. Waitress didn't write down our order which is fine if she could remember what we said but she kept coming back to ask. We had to ask for the crud to be cleaned off our table which is surprising since the hostess led us to this table. Food came quickly. My friend thought his burger quite greasy. We were not fans of the food before, but they had the greatest site and water views anywhere on the East Bay (on which there is no restaurant on the lake) and Elk Lake. We have been to Riverwalk 3 times since it re-opened. The menu has a variety and is well done. We have had the perch, citrus chicken, salmon and the lobster roll. All comes hot to the table and has been delicious. We are worried that as we leave we see the deck is full of diners and the restaurant maybe 1/3 full, but the parking lot is packed. The owners need to expand the parking lot or make a deal with the realty company across the street to use their lot. If prospective diners see that there is no place to park, they will move on to somewhere else. read more

This is a pretty nice place to stop by for lunch or dinner. Mikayla is the best bartender in the place and is on top of all of the customers needs. The floor manager girl also does a wonderful job and assists in any way necessary while helping all of the waitstaff keep things moving along. The food is excellent and I'd highly recommend the fried fish as it's some of the best in the area. The handcut fries are superb as are the wings. The only thing we've had that was iffy were the steak tacos which didn't have much flavor either in the meat or the bland salsa. They have about 6 craft beers on draft which is nice and a pretty decent wine selection as well. The only thing lacking at the bar is a foot rail rest your legs while sitting on the high stools. read more

But the decor is kind of cheesy and seemed very "chain restaurant" and the food is just so so. Their menu is really small and seemed overpriced for nothing special. For example the fish and chips is $20. They also seemed understaffed. We waited at the front for a hostess to seat us for 5 minutes and finally asked a bartender because it didn't look like anyone was going to help us. Had dinner there tonight with my wife while staying in Elk Rapids. We had the smoked whitefish dip for a starter. Very good with the pita chips. Over priced. Elk Rapids is a pretty town and has a great Lake Michigan beach but this place is a real disappointment. I'm local (I live forty minutes away) and I can find as nice places with better food for much better price. My wife had the berry salad next to no fruit but lots of greens for fourteen dollars. The waitress was good and took $7.00 off the bill my pulled pork was decent but nothing special. We loved the atmosphere at the Riverwalk. We sat at water level and enjoyed the view. The food, however, was not so great. My husband had the tuna poke and it was average. I had the fish tacos with perch and I was very disappointed. The description on the menu did not match the meal. I was expecting a cilantro citrus slaw with avocado, and instead it was all puréed into a tasteless sauce. Additionally, I paid $4 extra for the perch and received a very small fillet on each taco. Certainly not worth $8 a piece for these two tiny tacos. Our waitress tried to make it better by bringing out extra avocado and cilantro, but it did not help. I still can't believe that I paid $16 for this meal. I would return here for the drinks and the view, but I would not order off the menu again. read more

We arrived as a party of five with two children. The fact that we had to hunt down a server to seat us was the first clue. We ordered the lobster bisque, perch dinner with onion rings, lobster roll, tuna poke, kids Mac and cheese and kids grilled cheese sandwich. The tuna poke was good (probably because they didn't have to cook it!). The perch dinner with onion rings arrived madly over cooked, the lobster roll was more cheese than lobster meat, the grilled cheese tasted like fish, how they did this I have no clue. The mac and cheese had spicy nacho cheese (really! On the kids menu). The lobster bisque was tasty I'll admit. All this and we only waited forty minutes for the food to be served. Our level of disenchantment was not measurable. The server did however take the lobster roll and fishy grilled cheese off of our check and the bill was still 84$ with no alcohol. We will not return to The Riverwalk nor recommend this establishment to anyone. Should you try this place good luck! read more

I had the best turkey club of my life here. Everything was perfect- the meat was moist and delicious, excellent bread with just the right amount of crisp, and the bacon relish was 10/10. Upon arriving we were informed that they were understaffed...we decided to sit at the bar and possibly wait for a table outside. After 30 mins we decided to order an appetizer at the bar, 45 mins later we had still not received our appetizer and were told that two cooks called in and no manager was on duty! How is this possible?? What poor management if your restaurant is struggling and you don't show up to help. People were walking out, no food was coming out of the kitchen. The waitstaff was overwhelmed the bartender had no choice but to comp drinks. The bartender was awesome and should become your manager because clearly no one else is doing the job. So I told the waitress and instead of saying "I'm sorry about that, what can I do to make it right?" Just ate here for the first time at it was awful. My boyfriend and I had the choose 3 meats each so we had all 6 total. The wings we ordered as an appetizer weren't cooked fully and were disgusting. The dry rub they had on the meats were the same I have had in a simple cheap bar. The corn casserole was disgusting. The worst part about it was the baked beans we had as a side were I'm almost positive Busch's baked beans and their BBQ sauce was the most boring sauce we have ever had. This was the sauce provided with all of the meats therefore everything tasted boring. I've never made a review ever before but the fact that we both feel nauseous after eating there and spending over $100 is sickening in itself. Went on a Saturday night and were told that the wait for a table was 30 minutes or so. There were several tables open, one of which was in the bar, so we asked whether we could sit there. Nope. During our wait, the table remained empty. As we were seated, our waitress let us know that we needed to get our orders in, as the wait for food was around 45 minutes. We hesitated on waiting that long for food, but put the order in. The waitress brought bread and butter - which turned out to have been sliced some time in the distant past and was stale. My husband's soup came, supposedly chicken pepper jack, which was thin and watery and came in a bowl that was hot from the microwave, while the soup was less so. Then we started listening to people around us -- one table had waited over an hour for their appetizer (nachos), others were waiting similar amounts of time. We decided to cut our losses. We asked if the owner spent much time there, and were told that he didn't. We noticed as we were leaving that there was another party having a conversation with the manager that appeared to be negative. This is the kind of restaurant that could be great -- the setting is awesome with beautiful views of the lake, but someone needs to be there to focus on the details of actually running a business. I kept picturing their episode on "Restaurant Impossible". This is the stuff that closings are made of. read more
