Solid beer selection, but if you're looking for a unique cocktail I wouldn't recommend. I would stick to their burgers, salad and sandwich portion of the menu. The prices are a little high but the portions are large enough to share so they aren't unfair. I love the peanut butter and jealous burger. The most unusual flavor pairing, perfectly salty and spicy with a slight sweetness in the habanero jelly. The bun was a big let down- it's dry and almost crumbles and breaks apart while eating the burger which results in a bit of a mess. The fries are also a menu favorite- if you're going just for a beer and a plate you can share the fries are perfect, garlic or regular. Outdoor patio is dog friendly but not really the best seating- inside is fun if you're looking for high energy. As a family this is one of our favorite local places to visit. The staff is great, always very attentive, the drink glasses are never empty. The food is great, especially the garlic fries. I personally love the french dip and onion rings, but the menu variety is what brings us back. We have a large family and a wide range of tastes. Had such a great experience! Walked in and were immediately seated though it was a very busy Friday night! We sat in the bar area and enjoyed some whiskey (which they have a ton of). Our waitress was quick to appear and placed our drink and food orders quickly. The menu is pretty big and they have yummy twists to their food! I ordered their Garlic-Parm Mushroom Burger it was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor & sauteed mushrooms, huge, and came with a heaping load of fries and housemade ranch. My friend ordered their Sound the Alarm Burger... seriously call 911 because that burger is HOT. Stacked and loaded with all veggies, screaming jalapenos, grilled habanero peppers and a spicy aioli spread! Both were yummy. A live band played the entire night and they were fantastic as well. Have not been here since Covid. Soooo glad they were open. Two years ago I ordered the Jack Daniels Whiskey Chicken and it was so blah. I risked it again today and it was great. I have been to Rivets several times and still enjoy every visit ! This particular visit Clint was the bartender and the service was phenomenon. Hanging out at a place where you feel comfortable with a wide variety of individuals beats your typical downtown bar . I have tried quite a few menu items and have enjoyed 90% of the food . Moving to the Modesto area, I was always under the impression that all nightlife was downtown, which wasn't the most convenient. I would always drive past Rivets during the day, thinking it was just another burger joint. Oh boy, was I wrong! Full bar (they have practically everything, Amsterdam mule with peach vodka is a must try!), live band playing every night (except Sunday's and Monday's), menu off the charts (trust me, I'm a picky foody) from custom burgers, to amazing salads. Even my wife's roasted veggies sandwich was good, surprisingly! The menu consists of wide range of food for meat eaters and vegetarians, from burgers to pastas. I will have to try different things from the menu and comment again at that time. Customer service is great here, bartenders are easy to chat with! This is the second time I've been here and both time my experience has been negative. The bartender doesn't know how to mix drinks properly I ordered a bloody Mary and the pool side and both drinks tasted like i was drinking vodka straight out the bottle I couldn't even taste the other ingredients. Watched one get in a customers face as if he was going to punch him today, all the while shouting "this is a family restaurant." The food is also not as good as it used to be. I've had bad luck here before with their smoked brisket sandwich. First off the meat was sliced with the grain and it wasn't even brisket and on top of that it was mostly fat. Gross. This time I had a burger that was 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 ground filet mignon with bacon on it. There was no bacon but it had pork belly which was mostly fat. When I took a bite I almost puked because of the huge piece of fat. It was gross. I'll never go back. A WORK IN PROGRESS..... This restaurant / bar is concrete proof that you can have a great concept and all the money in the world and still come up with an inferior end result if the execution is off. This place fails on many fronts: #1. The Service. At times, the wait staff and the "bouncer-bro" types seem to outnumber the guests and yet the time it takes to get (a) noticed, (b) the order taken,(c) drinks delivered and (d) food served can be excruciatingly long. I like to get my drink started before the food gets there and then a refill during dinner. They really need to work on being consistent in this regard. They also need to work on socializing amongst themselves either off-work hours or in a spot not in view of the paying customers. They are working, after all - not out at a club. Very unprofessional. #2. The "Bouncer-Bro's" What exactly is their purpose? They aren't tending bar, they aren't working in the kitchen, so what are they supposed to be doing? (More on that later in the "Identity" section) I've seen as many as four of these dudes just hanging out chatting with the waitresses. OCCASIONALLY one will go bus a table, maybe and then get back to chatting up the girls after the inexcusable intrusion of work into his social life. #3. The Food. Not bad, actually. A tad overpriced for the location and the clientele but hey, got salaries to pay, I guess? The food can be a little inconsistent but that is the case at all of this owner's restaurants/bars. In case you didn't know, the same person owns the soon to be closed P.Wexford's as well as the Boardroom downtown. I don't know if he rotates the cooks between the three locations or just can't retain good kitchen help but it can be problematic having a dish prepared differently each time you go there. #4. The Identity. Is this a restaurant or a bar? Is it a family place or a dive? Well, that depends on when you go. Watch out for the transition time between late lunch and dinner, especially. This is where the unsuspecting family out for dinner will encounter the after-work party crowd in all their drunken glory. Language can be salty to say the least. The more into the dinner hour you get you'll see the obviously over-served patrons being ushered out the door to make room for the suddenly important family dinner crowd. This can get ugly at times. I once witnessed two rather intoxicated but quiet individuals suddenly get surrounded by six of those "Bouncer-Bro's" and scooted out one of the plentiful exits. Completely unnecessary and classless show of "force" that is sadly typical here. I guess the owner needs to decide what kind of establishment he wants to have? Clearly trying to be all things to all people isn't working and will likely result in either an ugly incident or the place going under entirely. In closing, I hope the place stays around but they really need to get their act together otherwise this will be just another case of "remember that place called ____?" story. read more

Today was our second visit to Rivets... well, actually since we were never seated during the first visit I guess you could really say it was our time eating there. The first time we went to Rivets for dinner a few days after they first opened. When we arrived with our party of 7 they told us the wait would be 45 minutes, however after slightly more than an hour we began asking the hostess if we would be seated soon. She told us that they were cleaning and setting up a table for us. Each time she came outside during the next 45 minutes she gave us the same story. After about 90 minutes of waiting the child that was with us was "Starved" and asked if we could go somewhere else. It was a good thing because we finally ended up promising her that we would leave if the next time the hostess came out if she didn't seat us. This afternoon (about 11: am) we were all together again except for the child who was in school. We decided it would be a good time to give them a try again. We were seated promptly, and out drinks came out right away. We did need to get the server's attention to place our order. Everyone in our group had some sort of hamburger (a little pricy for Modesto $8 to $12) with the exception of me who ordered a Cobb salad with light onion, if any at all. The "Cobb" salad came with spinach leaves, shredded chicken and red onions in it. Once I began to mix it up I found the spinach leaves and showed our waitress who asked if I wanted it remade correctly, which I did. When I finally received my remade salad it was made with some sort of large leafy lettuce (not romaine), a bunch of red onions and Italian salad dressing. I didn't realize that they would just dump Italian dressing on it so I asked for Blue cheese dressing. What she brought me back was a tiny cup, maybe an ounce, of Blue cheese dressing. After all this everyone in our party had finished eating and one person had already left to get back to work. I ended up not eating my salad at all. I now know that our party will not being going back to Rivets. The food was adequate at best and the prices were way too high for this area. read more

We really like this place. Simple, little details such as the spring mix is always clean and dry, never a slimy bit in a yummy salad. Plating a dish on two plates if we mention we are sharing. I can't stray, I always get the clams, but hubs and I mix it up on the sides/appys and he often orders some new entree. He has not been disappointed. The staff is well trained, very courteous and accommodating. Much appreciated. We are not big whiskey or beer aficionados, but their selection is impressive.
