Now that it is under new management, we decided to make reservations for New Years Eve @8:00pm for an outdoor table. We arrived at 7:45pm and checked in. The receptionist said that we might not get a table outside because people were staying and drinking and dancing. The band was Memphis Rub. He told us to wait at the bar and wait. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Lee greeted us. We put our order in. He forgot my husband's drink, that was a mojito and he forgot the lime for my drink. He also brought us large waters with lots of ice and no lemon which we had requested. He did not know how to make a mojito and had to ask another bartender to make it. The host then came to seat us outside 20 minutes later. My husband followed him outside while I took care of the bar tab. At least, the bar tab was not correct and I tried to get it resolved, but, Lee, was so busy, he never came back. I paid the tab and went to join my husband. The table we were seated at was great, right near the band. We were given our menus and we waited and waited and waited. We flagged down a server and she said we weren't in her area. She pointed to another server who never came over. My husband went inside to see the original host who was not there. Another woman was there, however, the server saw my husband and asked how he could help. My husband explained that we had not yet been waited on. He came outside and took our order for drinks and appetizer. We find out they ran out of champagne and bread. We got our drinks within 15 minutes. Our appetizer of mussels was disgusting. It tasted like they were cooked in salt water with no wine, butter, or, garlic. My meal of seafood aurora was over cooked and my husband's entree of chicken bruschetta was warm not served hot. Our server never came back to check on us. He did finally come over and asked if we wanted dessert. He was told how disappointed we were with our meal. My wife and I ate at the Dockside three times in January and I am completely baffled by the comments and low rating some folks have given it. First off, the property itself is completely FLORIDA... the ambiance is both elegant AND casual. The outdoor seating is fabulous - you couldn't get closer to a mega- yacht unless you bought one! But whether you're dressed in a three piece suit or flip flops, T-shirt and shorts, you will be greeted with smiles. Next, the waitstaff .. I guess any of us could have a bad day, but neither my wife nor I saw or heard any staff issues on the three days we were there - all in January. On one visit we did have to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but what do you expect when there is a wait line of 20 people who all arrive at the same time? As for the staff, all I can say is that Robert and Brianne were two that waited on us - forgot the name of the waitress for visit #3. They were both professional and friendly and for a new menu, they seemed to be well trained. On visit #2 the manager came to our table with a take-out box- we didn't ask for one, but he supposed we needed one. The FOOD... During the 3 visits, my wife, sister-in-law and I sampled a variety of dishes from the menu. Failing memory but let's see... Fish n Chips - 5 stars, cooked to perfection; Coconut Shrimp - 5 stars, hot, crunchy and full of flavor; VooDoo Pork Chops - 5 stars, a thick succulent pork chop with a round of andouille sausage in the center - how did they DO that? Lobster Flatbread / Pizza - 5 stars, the lobsters are from cold waters (New England) and are delicious. Lobster Bisque - 5 stars, I've had creamy bisques' before, but this one is the creamiest. My flatbread Pizza was way to burnt and I politely asked to speak to a manager and the server told me the manager didn't have time to come over to me. Ordered Cobb Salad and added chicken. Big salad and fresh. Hubs got tuna tacos . You get two plus a side and he said they were great. Got coconut shrimp as an appetizer. It was not the best. We had a larger party of 11 tonight. Food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Sarah was an excellent server. They do allow dogs on the deck, even a large dog inside the restaurant when we got here. Someone's dog pooped on the deck by our table. Of course, they didn't clean it up so one of the employees came to pour a pitcher of water on the poop, which did nothing to remove it from the deck. There were flies every where and the smell was horrible. After he poured water, it was even worse. He did this multiple times until he heard us complain and finally used paper towels to pick up some of it. And sprayed it with Lysol and walked away. When we mentioned to the server how bad he handled it, she spoke to him. He is actually the general manager, Joe. He came out with a horrible attitude and said it's not his fault the customer didn't clean up after their dog. He was so rude and disrespectful. Unfortunately this will be our last time to eat here. We eat here regularly and usually have a large party! If he treats his customers this way, I feel sorry for the employees that have to work for him. We had a fantastic experience at the restaurant for our rehearsal dinner. The food was good and the environment was intimate. We were able to mingle with all of our guests with ease. There was a little hiccup with the floor plan but it was easily fixed within minutes. The event was affordable and the staff at the end of the night was super sweet with making sure we had everything we needed as well as our to go containers! Amber our waitress should of been up our butts the entire time. We were one of two tables at the time so it shouldn't have been so difficult. Didn't get the drink orders correct and never asked if we ever wanted a refill or dessert and coffee. My dinner came out cold and was different from what was described on the menu (pasta was different) but if I was told in advance I would of been ok with it. Sent my dinner back and it should of been started over seafood dries out if overcooked but no such luck it was just reheated in the sauté pan. One star is an understatement. Had a reservation for 7pm outside. Got to the restaurant at 6:45 the hostess was nowhere to be found. Finally checked in 7 mins later and she said she would text when the table was ready. I waited until 7:15 to check on the table again and she said there was nothing available outside I would have to sit inside. Fine, as long as I can eat because at this point with 2 children we are starving. Sever took 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. Ordered food, 10 mins later find out it's not available and I have to order something else. Needless to say they are so very understaffed and I feel bad for the servers. We had a wedge salad, barely and bacon on it and very pathetic serving size. Lobster bisque, way to salty. Lobster Mac, so bland the only thing I ate was the lobster. The kids cheeseburger and chicken tenders were the best thing on the table. Our server tried his best but when you are that understaffed it makes it hard. I have been going there for 7 years never had an the experience when it was blue mangrove.. now it's under new management and I took my parents there for the first time today for lunch. I walked into an empty restaurant inside and a few tables outside were seated with customers but most were empty and dirty. I gave my name to the manager for a 30 minute wait list and wait outside with my parents. Approximately 5 minutes later waiter comes out with 3 menus and seats us. We sit down and order drinks, the manager comes out and yells at me you can't sit here and accused me of sitting myself. Everyone turned around at looked at us I was so embarrassed. He said we had to get up because he didn't want the party ahead of us to get mad at him. We stopped by to grab a bite to eat after golf. The staff was very friendly, especially Matt the bartender. He made delicious frozen margaritas and served them up right away. This is the nicest restaurant in Palmetto on the water the site of hundreds of beautiful boats docked. The greatest difference between The Dockside and other restaurants is it's atmosphere reminding me of a handsome Manson and then there's the wonderful gourmet seafood a cod sandwich my 1st visit and an outrageously tasty salad with lobster shrimp avocado hard boiled egg um baby shrimp onions and tender Julien carrots. The chef doesn't thrown any on the components in a salad bowl everything is a masterpiece. It sounded like the best choice on the menu there's scores of delicious items to choose from and a separate long wine list. Deserts I'll be able to sample on Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years Eve. read more

The restaurant has a beautiful marina behind it and the outside sitting area right next to the marina is beautiful as well. The inside is very spacious and has the cutest decor, nonetheless, there should be no issues bringing big groups here. On top of this all, I had the bang bang shrimp tacos which were AMAZING. Major disappointment! On Friday 1/15/21 I had the misfortune of trying this restaurant. We went to the dockside with another couple for drinks and dinner, while seated at the bar inside we witnessed the most disgusting display between male bartender (I think his name was Matt) and customers. The bartender was yelling, cursing and behaving in the most unprofessional, unethical, manner, for no apparent reason. How a restaurant of any kind would tolerate this, is beyond my comprehension, there was a women who seemed to be a supervisor who witnessed this, and did not appear concerned. It was such an embarrassment to me, the couple joining us for dinner were from out of town, we decided to leave and have dinner elsewhere. I never would have thought that a restaurant at the Riviera Dunes would be such a huge disaster. Needless to say I will never return, there is no excuse for bad service, and no employee should behave, or treat patrons in such an unprofessional, unethical way. Clearly management doesn't care, makes me wonder what else they don't care about?? If they don't care about service, they most likely do not care about quality in anything else. read more
