Taquitos. These were great. Wish they were whole taquitos and not just 3 sliced in half.
    Joshua P.

Came here for a comedy show and ended up ordering their taquitos. The taquitos were great. The sauce they come with was there real winner that made the taquitos standout. Service was friendly. The rooms looked clean. Eating the taquitos is the reason I'll be coming back to try other food items.

@therivmexcantina 10/10 in Redondo Beach Highly recommend this restaurant which has waterfront reviews! The food is incredible and the drinks are delicious. They also have a weekday happy hour. The view outside felt special, perfect for a date or special occasion. All the dishes were high quality at affordable prices for the view and taste. What we ordered: Shrimp Agua Chile: $16 this was such a great value and came with such a generous portion of shrimp! I don't typically order this just anywhere I have to trust that it's fresh since it cooks in lime juices. Shrimp taquitos: $19 definitely craveable and a fav by returning customers Molcajete: $36 the star of the show! Comes with shrimp, skirt steak and chicken - all perfectly cooked in a sizzling Molcajete sauc which is smoky and tangy. It is a Mexican sauce made by crushing charred ingredients in a volcanic stone mortar and pestle. Specialty plates: $27 Sea Bass - a great healthy option, the fish was perfectly cooked and flaky tender They also have fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, and more. Drinks: El Jefe Bowl Horchata cocktail Smoky blood orange cocktail Thanks so much to our amazing server Jorge, who made our experience even more special. He had great recommendations and also gave us some background on the dishes that made us appreciate the details even more.

The Birria tacos were freaking delicious. Better than then hunny's fajitas. Beautiful picturesque view, in a great spot where you can walk a round afterwords. I go to Redondo beach pier all the time and i don't know why i haven't been here before.

We were very impressed by the food here. The highlight was the breakfast burrito but the guacamole toast was good too. Would have preferred if it was on sourdough or some other type of bread that doesn't mash down when you cut it but I would order it again so it obviously didn't bother me too much. The only complaint was that the coffee wasn't hot and they don't have a pot of coffee to come around with and refill so our poor waitress literally made four trips back inside with our cups to get refills. Other than that super nit picky thing, it was a good experience. Service was great, food was delicious, prices are fair for the portions and the ambiance is nice. We will go back for sure.

Stopped by for happy hour and enjoyed the drinks. There was only 1 server on and he was efficient and friendly. The quesadillas were good. Family friendly and good vibes with a nice view on the patio.

Our server George (Jorge) was awesome. He gave great customer service. If you're looking for some good margaritas and some what Tex-Mex.... This is your place. Not too authentic at all. But it will do a fix for nachos and non spicy meals. The food was good. Salsa and chips were good. Service was superb. Not sure why I saw a lot of bad reviews for service. We sat outside per our request. The sunset was nice. The place was clean. Restrooms could have been more clean and updated. Ample parking. You need to download the app. It's about $2.75 an hour

Love the view from the patio and bar. Great restaurant with live music. The food and drinks were good as well but it was a little wierd that I ordered appetizer, fajitas and a margarita flight and within 3 minutes of ordering all items they brought it all out. Yes, even my food. So for me, it felt like I got someone else's order that they messed up on, or they have it cooked already and they just heat it before they bring it out, or they are rushing you. I think it's important for the timing of the drinks, appetizers and fajitas- space out the timing of the dinner.

This place is great for a nice sunset dinner or happy hour. I love the outdoor patio. Be sure to make a reservation if going on the weekend. The menu is large and the prices are very reasonable for a waterfront view. My favorites are the fish tacos and shrimp chile relleno. Service is good, food is solid but you have to pay for parking.

Went for Mother's Day brunch. Easy parking with parking lot right in front of it. We sat outside so the view was nice. They give you blankets if it gets too windy and cold. Got the birria burrito and the pastor Benedict. I liked the Benedict. The chipotle hollandaise sauce was unique. The potatoes were ok. The birria burrito was good too. Stuffed to the brim. Oh and the salsa that came with the complimentary chips was good.

Beautiful location, with ocean views on the patio. You gotta pay for parking via an app. Staff is friendly, service was good. Food portions are pretty big. The complimentary chips are not greasy and salsa is chunky and flavorful. Asada fajitas are plentiful with tender pieces of meat, cooked perfectly. Shrimp fajitas are plump and delicious too, but you get more bang for your buck with the steak. We also got them both without bell pepper, so they made it with extra onions. The fajitas come with corn or flour tortillas, Spanish rice or cilantro rice, black beans or refried beans or charro beans, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. I recommend the Spanish rice and charro beans.

Food: 3 stars Parking: 2 stars Service: 5 stars Came here for a holiday party with a giant group. Make a reservation on open table! I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my husband got the steak and chicken fajitas. Food taste was a bit salty for my taste. The portions are pretty generous. Chips and dip good. I got the horchata and it was horrible ... had this plastic aftertaste. Service: So friendly. Our server was the sweetest and nicest and went over and beyond. Parking: Giant lot but not free. It's $2.35 per hour and you can only pay by the hour. The machines don't work so you scan via mobile and pay on your phone. The restaurant does not validate. It was okay but lots of other places that have better parking.

I took a nice walk around the Redondo Beach pier and came in here for a delicious lunch. I had a chili burrito with beans and rice and a soda. Everything tasted very good and the portion was very generous. I'm glad we came here. We sat outside and had a view of the ocean, seabirds, and rocks. It was a beautiful experience with excellent service. You would love it here too.

Riviera Mexican Cantina is such a great addition from the same owners of Riviera Mexican Grill--similar quality, totally different vibe. This spot feels a bit more upscale while still being casual and comfortable. It's right on the water, which makes it perfect for a cute date night, and they have outdoor heaters so you can enjoy the view even when it's chilly. Service was excellent. Owen took great care of us--attentive, friendly, and full of spot-on recommendations without ever feeling overbearing. Our food came out incredibly fast and the portions were generous. Jonathan and I split the steak fajitas, and not only were they delicious, but we even had leftovers. I also loved that you can choose your style of rice and beans with the fajitas. My dad ordered the carnitas tacos and they were heaping--definitely not skimpy on the fillings. The only downside was the skinny margaritas. Mine just didn't taste quite right, though Jonathan's cucumber margarita was fantastic. Next time I'd definitely go for a different marg. Overall, beautiful views, great service, and delicious food. We'll definitely be back!

The ambiance was great and it was a really nice spot in front of the Pier. We sat outside since it was good weather, I didn't account for the afternoon chill though once the sunset. Good thing to keep in mind when choosing outside or inside. The inside was really pretty (saw this on my way to the restroom later) so I wish I would have chosen to sit inside. Now for the food, this was really the only let down. The guacamole and chips were started with was okay, slightly bland in flavor. I got the fish tacos, my husband got the Chipotle Pollo y Hongos (listed as a house specialty), got a taco and nacho plate for my kids off the kids menu. The rice was like a green rice, super bland and dry and this came on both of the adult plates. The red rice that came with the kids food was actually better. The refried beans tasted like something that came out of a can, dry as heck and again, bland. Fish tacos were meh, fish was fishy and the slaw it comes with did not have the flavor I am usually looking for when I think fish tacos. My husband's chicken was yummy, and I wished I had gotten that instead. Only con was the dry rice and beans it comes paired with. Maybe my biggest gripe was the food not tasting authentic at all, and this Mexican girl loves her Mexican food, or maybe I just got the wrong plates. In my experience, if the basics are wrong (rice and beans) the rest has little hope. However, I must say that Dessert was amazing, I got some kind of yummy ice cream (maybe the Helado Frito?) to blow out my birthday candle. It was the silver lining for sure :) Service was great, and they were very accommodating. I felt bad telling them I hated the food but I wanted to write an honest review for those, like myself, who rely on reviews when choosing a good dinner spot.

So, this afternoon's walk, my friend and I decided to stop in - not quite lunch, not quite dinner ... the best of both! He made a great first impression and just kept raising the bar - his recommendations were spot on. His knowledge of the menu was so helpful and he seemed to truly take joy in making us happy. We shared the Tuna Tataki, Crispy Popcorn Cauliflower, Sweet Potato Fries, and as if that wasn't already over the top and enough ... the Rocket Calabrese Salad with Hanger Steak. I never order steak as I usually don't enjoy it. Danny ensured us this would be the best pairing for the salad and he did not lie! It was cooked to perfection. I might now be a carnivore! You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

I really wanted to love this place. I read all the glowing…read morereviews and convinced myself the negative ones were probably just misunderstandings... but wow, I had it completely backwards. First, the restaurant itself is undeniably cute and cozy, tucked away in a corner of Hermosa Beach. Our first impression was honestly great, and we were excited to try it. Our reservation was at 5:00 PM, but when we arrived, the staff was still inside having what looked like a team huddle or group therapy session well past opening time. At first I thought maybe I got the hours wrong and they actually opened at 5:30. Nope -- 5:00 was correct. I understand pre-shift meetings happen. But maybe do the motivational speech at 4:50 instead of making customers stand outside after your posted opening time? They finally opened the doors around 5:10. Once seated, our server introduced himself by saying he was also one of the chefs, and apparently everyone dressed in white both cooks and serves. I didn't really understand the concept, but honestly, I don't care who brings the food as long as the food is good. These are what we ordered: SQUID -- This tasted like it had been marinated directly in seawater. Painfully salty. I genuinely did not understand the dish at all. Boiled squid with egg salad? Why? The portion was tiny, and we were hungry, so we basically used the mussels tart to dilute the salt enough to finish it. MUSSELS TART -- Actually delicious. No complaints here. BISTRO SALAD -- This was honestly shocking. It was SO sour that it was practically inedible. -- we literally take straight lemon shots every morning but this dish was hard to eat. This wasn't "bright acidity." This was weaponized vinegar. Bitter, aggressively sour, and tongue-numbing after one bite. We had to send it back because it was simply not edible. CABBAGE -- Flavor was good overall, but parts of it were so burnt that I genuinely questioned whether it was intentional or someone forgot it existed in the kitchen. Maybe it's culinary art I'm too uncultured to understand. FISH DIANE -- Delicious. No complaints at all. What ultimately made us decide we won't return wasn't even the inconsistent food -- it was the attitude. They still charged us for the salad we literally could not eat after sending it back. Then the couple next to us asked to keep one menu because they planned to order more later. One of the servers told them not to leave it on the table because she didn't want the menu to get dirty. The menu was a single flimsy printed paper menu. Not leather-bound. Not handmade parchment from the 1700s. Just printer paper. The whole experience felt oddly pretentious for a place serving burnt cabbage and acid salad. Some dishes were genuinely good, but the hospitality felt nonexistent and the food was wildly inconsistent. Cute restaurant, but definitely not somewhere we'd return to.
