We checked out the reviews and went with the guidance of do not let the outside of the restaurant deter you from trying out their food. With that in mind, we verified that they do have beer and margaritas available unlike some of the local restaurants. The restaurant is not very fancy, but there is free parking, and so large that you will not have to wait for a seat. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. We switched tables after we found that the table we sat at was a bit dirty. Our waiter was exceptionally attentive and eager to please. We quickly were served chips and dips and we ordered a side of guacamole to go with that and they were all very good. A quesadilla appetizer was fresh and we were offered both red and green sauces, which really accentuated their flavor. We did find the tapwater flavor a little unpleasant, and there were no bottled water options available. The beer and margaritas help make up for that issue! The Chile Rellanos were very good and the Carnitas combo was very flavorful. The sopapillas were small, slightly over cooked/tough, and not flavorful. This is a very nice, typical Mexican restaurant. There are no surprises, and there are some Mexican specialties on the menu, including Menudo, and other items of the more traditional nature. Our eager server was perhaps the highlight of our meal.

La Hacienda felt like such a treat to me! I had been traveling all day to get to White Sands and was so hungry for something local instead of a chain joint. So, it's kinda a diamond in the rough. I walked in thought it looked a bit run down. The booths are showing some age and the tables could probably use some elbow grease. BUT the food was fast, tasty, and so inexpensive! I was really glad that I stuck it out. Server was super sweet and asked if she could get me setup with some chips and salsa while I looked over the menu. I was taken aback at the charge for it but can't start a Mexican meal without some chips and salsa. The chips were GOOD! Like fresh from the basket good. They are made in house. The salsa was good too. Very fresh with visible pieces of tomato-just how I like it. Had some heat but not overly powerful. I ordered a burrito and a side of guac as well and enjoyed both! If I make it back during my trip, I'll get the burrito smothered next time. It needed some sauce for sure. Very convenient-they have drive thru if you don't care to dine in, inexpensive, and big portions. I will likely go back before my trip ends.

Drive thru or eat in is available. They are not serving alcohol right now. After we sat down the waiter brought us our drinks, took our order and brought out our food. They did not check on us or offer us refills. The food was decent and filling. 3/5 for overall experience.

Cheap. Large Portions. Divey. No Tourists. Chile/Salsa were on point. I liked it. I ordered the Chile Rellenos and loved it! So good. I'd skip the Carne Asada. If you really want Carne Asada then get it at Rizo's (although I wouldn't rush over to Rizo's). The carne asada is like the one good dish they have at Rizo's... Anyway! La Hacienda is spacious, but hardly ever packed. If you come for dinner get the Chile Rellenos. I loved them.

Cheap school cafeteria-like Mexican food. Price: low. Quality: low. Spicy: none. Everything is dry.

Yelp is always pretty damn accurate and this place lived up to every positive word said about them. We had an order of birria tacos each and we shared a cali-style burrito. I'll just say we ate it all. It was a lot of food but we did it... stuffed ourselves with every last delicious bite. There were very friendly and cool folks working there. I wish I had more time to spend as they had some classic arcade games I wanted to try. It was pretty quiet and chill inside the restaurant. We were there between rush times so that may not always be the case but it was the case when we were there (luckily). I would imagine this place bumps at busy times. Anyhow, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't try this place. Fricken delicious, reasonable, and fill your belly portions. 10 out of 5.

Look at the tacos and tell me that this food seems it. The ground beef was very crumbly. They don't double shell. They food came out fine. And the tables were kept clean enough. It's not like it's inedible but considering the quality of Mexican food I had in New Mexico and how highly praised this location is, I would not waste my time here again.

So, we did find it. Personally, I thought the food was very average and overpriced (though it appeared that there was a lady cooking in the back). I got a $10 chimichanga, and after putting sour cream on it, I realized that there was no way I could cut it with the limp plastic fork and spoon provided. So, I picked it up and ended up using about 10 of the skimpy napkins to clean the sour cream out of my beard and mustache. It came with some typical dry, orange-colored rice, and the beans were inside with some (not much) finely ground beef. I ordered iced tea, and it tasted like it had been sitting around for a week. Of course, there was no lemon--why would you have lemon in iced tea? My friends liked their food better than I did, so I may just be picky. If you like mall ambiance and fast-food taste, this place may be for you. For me, I'll revisit Si Senor the next time I'm in Alamagordo.

We came in a Monday about 40 minutes before closing and it seemed like they were getting ready to end the night. No one else was in the restaurant though there were a couple people at the bar. We told them we just wanted something fast and would be in and out quickly and were seated quickly at a booth. Our waitress was amazing and still kind and energetic though it was the end of day. Free bread with garlic balsamic olive oil, bread was warm and they were very generous with the amount of dried garlic. Margherita pizza: we picked the most standard one and it was odd. Instead of cheese and fresh basil it had slices of tomato and dried basil. Crust was underdone and there was way too much cheese on it. Italian nachos: Crispy pasta chips, black olives, pepperoncinis, Roma tomatoes, jalapeños, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella and parmesan. We had it with chicken and it was interesting but drowning in Alfredo sauce.
