I've been a patient of Dr. Rizzo since 2009 and have always appreciated his professionalism and care. Unfortunately, the experience with his office staff has consistently declined over the years--especially when it comes to scheduling and customer service. Today, I had a 9:00 AM appointment but was delayed by a major accident on the turnpike. I called ahead and was told I could still be seen if I arrived by 9:30 AM. I got to the office at 9:33 AM and called from downstairs, only to be told I would not be seen and would still be charged a no-show fee. I was shocked by the lack of flexibility, especially since I was on-site and had been communicating. To make matters worse, the office manager spoke to me with a disrespectful and aggressive tone. Her attitude was completely unprofessional and left me feeling like loyal patients are being nickel-and-dimed without any regard for the years of business we've brought to the practice. After more than 15 years with this office--and having referred many friends and family--I've decided to move on to another dentist. I'm so annoyed with this office. I came here with my boyfriend for his initial cleaning & exam, while at the office I scheduled an appointment for myself and let them know I have two insurances and that I would like to send them my X-rays that another office took of me this year. They told me that would be okay. So a couple weeks later I come to my exam & cleaning appointment and they tell me they DONT ACCEPT SECONDARY INSURANCE however they knew from the last visit that I had TWO INSURANCES because I told them. This big woman who looks Hispanic but doesn't speak Spanish, wears black glasses & has black straight hair already knew this information but acts like she doesn't and allows me to waste my time waking up at 7:30am and driving 30 minutes there and back. She said I could take the chance and see if my insurance will cover the services and if they choose not to I would then be responsible for the fees. I'm so annoyed that this receptionist already knew I had two insurances and still allowed me to book an appointment and arrive, if I would have known I would be responsible for the services rendered in advance I wouldn't have bothered driving here. It's not a secret that good dentists are hard to find. I was referred to the Rizzo Dental Group (RDG) while seeking a closer dentist after moving from Brevard County. I loved my old dental office (HD Dental in Viera/Melbourne) so there will be big shoes to fill. RDG is located in a bougie Orlando area of Metrowest. I've never been in this area and it's probably the nicest part of Orlando I've seen. The building looks pretty new and the office is very nice. So now that we got all of that out of the way, here's the real deal. Disclaimer: This is soley MY experience and opinion. With that said, my visit was abysmal and a complete failure and wate of my time. I'm not going to go into detail so I'll just give the skinny. I waited almost an HOUR to be called and saw multiple people who came in much after me called first. I was just going in for a simple cleaning! After being called, there wasn't even an apology for the wait. The woman who took my X-rays took about 20 minutes and must have taken (and re-taken) about 15+ images. Some were very uncomfortable and even had me gagging. A dentist then came and proceeded to speak to me over and over about flosing once a day and would not complete a simple request I had. I was ready to leave right then. After that, a hygentist came and took me to another room where she just dove right in and gave me the roughest and most painful cleaning I've ever had. No explaining what was happening, rushing through the cleaning, and just a very rough treatment overall. Before I could run out of the office, I was given an out-of-pocket estimate of thousands of dollars to re-do work I had previously done. NO THANKS. I broke a crown off and needed an extraction. The receptionist was able to get me in first thing the next morning. Dr. Bill took the time and listened to my concerns as I am not a very good dental patient. Tooth was pulled with almost no pain during extraction. After my 2nd visit I was quite satisfied with the service that they offer and the level of attention you get once you walk in. One of the things that i do enjoy is the view as you sit in the dental chair. The big windows make the space feel bigger and gives you something serene to look at. Horrible. Chipped a tooth, needed a cap.... Dentist was unnecessarily rough, uncaring and brutal. I asked him to consider being a little more gentle but that didn't work. My mouth was sore for days simply from being brutalized from him. Cut tongue and sides of my cheek. So unnecessary! I think he's a narcissist. read more

Jeffrey listened and asked relevant questions to figure out the best treatment for me, and was even willing to resize the crown during my initial visit. I went to Dr. William Rizzo for possible implants on a recommendation from my brother in law. After a $200 plus exam and a significant quote for implants, I asked the office person - half in jest -if there was a discount since I came on a recommendation. The head of the business office appeared, introduced herself and told me: "We don't give discounts. Maybe you should go somewhere else." And that's what I did. read more

I went in for a cleaning and was told I needed a filling. They ran my insurance and told me what my out of pocket cost would be. I agreed and had the filling done a week later. One month later I received a bill from them saying I owed more money - almost doubling the original out of pocket quote. I called and asked why and was told "my insurance didn't cover the specific type of filling and they [Rizzo] wouldn't know this until after I had the procedure and they tried to bill my insurance". I called my insurance company - that was a complete lie. My insurance company investigated it and was later told by a Rizzo staff member "we are a busy clinic and don't have time to do a complete quote for procedures". AKA Rizzo took shortcuts and didn't accurately quote me before the filling. And then Rizzo reminded me that "anything your insurance doesn't cover is your responsibility". If Rizzo staff doesn't have time to properly quote you then they shouldn't give you a quote at all - it was a bait and switch as far as I'm concerned. Take your money elsewhere - there are plenty of other honest dentists in the area. read more

I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. Dr. William Rizzo was condescending and rude, and he put me through an ordeal that I would never want someone else to go through. The closest thing I can relate it to would be torture. He spent over an hour trying to get one wisdom tooth out while I was fully awake. He never offered to give me the Nitrous Oxide or any sedatives before or during the procedure, even after I told him I could still feel him cutting, and he said I just must be one of those people that have a high tolerance for Novocaine and there was nothing he could do about it. I have TMJ and kept asking him to support my jaw as he pulled and wrenched on the tooth because I could literally feel my jaw about to break. The bones in my jaw joint were starting to protrude out of my skin and he continued to ignore me. I finally had to grab the nurse's arm and beg her to get him to stop. The pain was excruciating and he actually laughed at me as tears streamed down the sides of my face and filled up my ears. My shirt was soaked through with sweat when I finally walked out over an hour later. I felt so violated and was in so much pain when I left that I barely made it out to the car before I just broke down. It was a HORRIBLE experience, and I will never go back there again. read more

It took me years to gain the courage to tell my story about this dentist. Even now I have a hard time putting into words my experience, other than to say it was not positive. In the beginning things were okay and I actually really liked Dr. Rizzo. However as time went on I realized small little things here and there that made me very uncomfortable. For example, I saw him lose his temper and snap at his staff on more than one occasion. They also had a tendency to hold my money in their account when I was in fact owed a credit. When I questioned the front desk about this I never got a straight answer. Yet they always seemed to have money/resources to install state-of-the-art equipment that was kind of gimmicky to say the least. Also, I had a horrible experience with a few crowns he did and in the middle of what I consider to be trauma/emotional distress I received the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. The office manager was so nasty that I left in tears. Later when I called to ask for an itemized summary of my outstanding expenses she belittled me and made me feel like a piece of garbage. Lousy dentist and even worse - an unfriendly (and uncaring) staff. Would not go back to them even if they paid me. read more

We both had a terrible experience with the Rizzo Group. We were patients for over two years. I dont know about your experience but they would never fill a tooth that had a cavity,when at the time a filling was all that was needed. I know that to be true. I had a friend dentist from Denver who was on vacation check out the tooth. He said a simple filling was all that was needed. They never filled the cavity yet some time later they had no problem performing expensive root canals and crowns on the same tooth. We spent a lot of money there was very unsatisfied and now are having to redo some the same work. If your a patient ask your self how many cavities have they filled???? read more
