The owner, Rob runs a real estate company but does FFL transfers on the side. I was recommended here by my brother whom had a transfer done done years ago. Rob is very friendly, responds to emails and returns phone calls quickly. I was impressed with his speed and ability to multi-task. I went in to transfer an AR lower. When I walked in, there were about 8 people already waiting ahead of me.. thankfully it was only about 3 groups together. Rob was answering question of one group while they filled out their ppw. He handed me my ppw to fill out and continued to help the other people. For a one man show, he really had it together. I filled it out and left. 10 days later I returned. He greeted me, had me sign my ppw, and I left with the lower in hand. Even when busy, he was professional and greeted everyone sincerely. I needed to do an online transfer with an FFL and decided to go with Rob. Turned out to be a great decision. The process was easy, straightforward and Rob let's you know what needs to be done. This is my second transfer with Rob and it's true that sales tax are required to be collected by your local FFL dealers. Before, it used be free of sales tax; however, laws do change and now there'll be less incentive to buy online or out of state and have it transferred since the savings have dwindled due to payment of sales tax. This is by no means anyone's fault, it's just our tax laws. I've called and verified with three other local guns shops in the Bay Area and they all confirmed that sales tax for out of state transfers do require the FFL dealer to collect tax. The CA State Board of Equalization website will address sales tax. (Source: http://www.boe.ca.gov/pdf/pub53a.pdf) I didn't like the fact that I have to pay sales tax for the transfer and shipping, but that's the law. Unless "all conditions are met," tax will apply to shipping as well since it's not "shipped directly to the purchaser" per se, but to the FFL dealer. This applies to all/any out of state gun transfer since they all have to be shipped to a FFL dealer by federal law. I guess my first review should be a worthy one and what is more worthy than countering a review that would give incorrect impressions to Yelpers about Rob and his business? My boss introduced me to Rob in November of last year and I have been in his office twice every month since then. Yup, once for paperwork and once for pick up. Gotta love Kalifornistan, right? But then again, without the 10/30 days restrictions and approved list BS, I might be dipping into kids' college funds. Let's just say that I am in Rob's office as often as the CA DOJ allows me. So, this review is not based on one or two transactions with Rob being in a good mood or whatever. He has always been very professional and honest in every single transaction. Rob also knows guns and I have always been very satisfied with his recommendations. So I covered his attitude, knowledge, and ethics so what's left? Oh yeah, his prices! Take it from a guy who checked out nearby gun shops, his prices are cheaper than any local gun shops. And you don't have to wait hours for the paperwork and the process. RMB Enterprises is a great place to handle firearm transactions if you want to order something, are buying online, or doing a private transfer. Rob is a straight shooter who has it pretty dialed in most days. He runs his business out of an office setting without much inventory as such. Most local shops will charge over $100 for handling an online transfer, and they are required to charge CA sales tax if it is coming in from out of state. I've been a customer of Rob's for 12 years now. He does a great job and know's his stuff! For those who've written negative reviews, I want to say this: get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth off. Rob charges $40.00 per gun transfered. That's it, $40.00. The other fees you paid are out of his control. DROS fee is $25.00. You have to pay that everywhere in CA. Sales tax is 8.375% and is mandatory per CA BOE. Rob explains all this in detail. I've been in his shop many times and I've heard him explain this to his customers. Do the math and you'll see how it adds up. I don't normally post reviews but in light of a previous post I feel a response is warranted. I have been using Rob (RMB Ent) for some 2 years now and have made more purchases from/thru Rob than I want my wife to know about. Kidding, she has access to the gun safe. Every transaction whether it be a direct purchase through Rob or a FFL transfer through Rob....every single transaction has been aces. Not a single glitch! Rob charges $40 to do an FFL transfer plus the State DROS (which you will pay no matter where you go). Check around and you will find other FFL dealers charge anywhere from $65.00 to $125.00 and up PLUS the DROS. Sometime late 2011 CA started requiring FFL dealers to charge CA sales tax no matter where the gun comes from....figure it into your total cost of ownership! I used to find the best web deal and have it shipped to Rob to do the FFL transfer. That was before the sales tax became a requirement. I still do my homework and prior to making a purchase I will know the MSRP, Bud's price and then have Rob quote the item. It is generally just not worth my time and effort to have to deal with an out of state WEB whole seller, make the payment, wait for the payment to clear. Then wait for shipping. Have to track the whole process. Then once the item arrives, go do the FFL paperwork and wait another 10 days. IT TAKES A MONTH THIS WAY. Now I just have Rob order it and pay a little more than a WEB price, but I only have to pay the State DROS. Rob doesn't charge the $40 transfer fee so it is close enough for me to call it a wash WITHOUT all the other hassle I mentioned above. No muss...No fuss. You are going to pay state sales tax no matter what. More importantly, I have found Rob to be very friendly, personable, honest and all around good guy. He is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share if you ask. Without hesitation or reservation I would personally recommend Rob for any of your FFL needs. read more
