My coworkers and I had a great dinner at Ironwood! The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and helpful from start to finish. We tried the chislic, which wasn't our favorite, but the steaks made up for it--everyone's was cooked perfectly and tasted great. For sides, we ordered the mashed potatoes and the lobster mac n' cheese, and both were delicious. We finished with the bread pudding for dessert, which was rich but very good! Overall, Ironwood is definitely on the pricier side, but we enjoyed our experience and would recommend it for a nice night out. read more

Visited this place for the 2nd time and it was an absolute amazing experience for someone dining solo from out of town. Steve the Chef Cooked my Pork Chop "Perfectly" and even came over to see how I liked it. Jess was attentive and even one of the bar hands was funny and gracious. Absolutely an Amazing Night! Beautiful restaurant. Friendly attentive staff. We came to celebrate our anniversary, if you plan ahead I think you can coordinate with the restaurant to order flowers. We decided to share a ribeye steak (16oz) the sides are family style so plan accordingly if it's just two Of you. After hearing the potato pave description we chose that to share as well as brussels sprouts. We gave the steak a 6/10 it was good but it didn't knock our socks off (we've had some knock your socks off melt in your mouth no need to add salt type steaks). I thought the Brussels were delicious, cooked well and seasoned with chunks of pork belly, Tony thought they were too sweet I disagree. The star of the show for us was the potato pave, tiny but mighty, flavorful, so creamy cheesy buttery au gratin potatoes- it actually was the perfect portion with everything we ordered but for family size, ehh I would say you'd have to order a couple. We were treated with a dessert for our anniversary so we chose the chocolate cake which is the size of a 16oz steak, it's giving Matilda cheering on Bruce with Mrs. Trunchbulls dessert. Ironwood is a top notch experience! Every aspect of our dinner from the ambiance, food, and service were spectacular. My husband and I ordered the melt in your mouth bone marrow , delectable lobster Mac and cheese , the juicy roast chicken, and tender filet mignon. Each dish was a showstopper. Our waiter, Chad also delivered exceptional service throughout the night and despite being busy he remembered our names and was engaged in our conversation throughout the night. Ironwood has always had a special place in my heart since the day they opened. I love the atmosphere I absolutely love the character of how everyone holds themselves. They are like family to the people that have come in often. That feeling always holds a special place especially when it comes to dining out. Tonight I ordered the scallops, I ordered these as well last Thursday, (I had an amazing experience last Thursday and my scallops were perfect. Actually amazing.) But tonight, unfortunately I wasn't impressed. And I feel more disappointed. The last five times I have eaten as a guest at ironwood I have had nothing but good things to say. But here is the thing, mistakes happen. But also maybe my pallet has changed in the last couple of days. There are so many factors that can determine the experience. So long story short, at the end of a story, I will forever have ironwood as my go to in town based on atmosphere, service, and food. I give them five out of five stars every-time except for tonight and those odds are 1 and 200+meals. I recommend ironwood for any occasion, wedding, engagement, girls night, date night, drinks, chill, literally everything. I recommend I hope to hear that your experience has been. What an amazing experience. My husband and I came for our one year anniversary and it has always been such an unexpected gem here in Sioux Falls. My second time here and I am sold. The grilled oysters were fantastic!! We had the ribeye and the 1/2 pound of king crab and we loved it. We had dinner for 6 at Ironwood. We were seated downstairs and had a great view. We had a pretty decent relish tray to start along with some meh chislic. We tried their ribeye (very good but priced high), steak Diane (really good), salmon (pretty good) and filet mignon (pretty decent). We had one child with us - they do not have a children's menu but provide the ability to order from a child menu from a restaurant next door. Service was pretty good but could have been more attentive. Parking is a bit hit or miss in this area. read more

Took the Wifie here for dinner today for our anniversary. The waiter, and wait staff were top notch. They knew the menu and recommended some delicious meal items that were prepared perfectly. Wife had the French Onion soup, and Steak Diane, and I had the Japanese Wagu with butter whipped potatoes. For desert we had New York cheese cake, and a flowerless chocolate cake. The ambience is perfect with scenic views of the river, and the upper falls. A bit pricey if economy is your thing, but I highly recommend if you want an over the top dining experience. read more

Made reservations knowing it may be difficult to get. Our table was not ready in the upper floor and ended up in the bar area. Service was very good. Wine selection average. Both steaks prepared perfect. Added scallops just average. Grilled oysters tasted great but very small. Wedge salad was one of the best I've had as well as the Brussels sprouts. (Must have). We tried out this newer steakhouse in The Steel District, and we loved it. Highly recommend although expect to spend $100+ per person if you get drinks, appetizers, etc. Service was great, greeted by servers and manager stopped by and talked for a bit as well. We sat on second level and have a great view overlooking the Falls. Highly recommend the lobster and cheese app, also the carrot was some of the best I've had ever. read more

To start the service I received from Lina was top notch. She was very attentive and informative. Food was absolutely outstanding. Went for our anniversary. The whole place is beautiful and is definitely a hot spot. We got a beautiful view facing the window. Very romantic and inviting. The steak is one of the best I've had. Drinks were perfectly balanced. Their carrot cake is to die for. It can be pricey depending on what you order but in my opinion it's 100% worth it. Safe to say we can't wait to be back! read more

Seriously this place could be a neighborhood mainstay in any big city in America; the touristy view is a bonus. Ate dinner here at the bar on a Monday and Tuesday and they were very busy but service was still solid. I think maybe they took previous reviews saying the service was subpar to heart because I found it to be excellent. Hope this place sticks around it is a credit to Sioux Falls. Obviously it is 2025 so sticker shock for the classic dishes and drinks is to be expected, it is expensive to run a kitchen and wait staff these days not to mention quality food ! read more

The decor lends to nostalgic and pretty. Great window view . I believe there will be a patio for outdoor dining when winter breaks. The waiter was attentive.... The libations from the bar were goodly... The salad and vegetables sides were prepared very nice... The $62 dollar New York strip was a bit over done and not mind blowing. Just ok. The $24 dollar bone marrow was sent back. It was basically a trough of thin loose grease. But I was still charged the $24.... Normally I'd right an upscale place off for this low class move. I had high hopes for this Sioux Falls addition. So I think I'll give them another try in the future. read more

Went on a recent Friday night around 7:30. Sat upstairs, in the middle. Table was good, chairs not comfortable at all. There was a couple of large groups, it was incredibly noisy. Hard to hear the person sitting across the table. Our waiter was awesome!!! Want to say his name was Trev, not sure of that. Order appetizers, salad, steaks and a dessert. The filet was a little salty, the NY Strip was good as was the Tomahawk. The asparagus and potatoes were good, the brussel sprouts were average. We started with a red blend that was tasty. The food, service was very good, once the large groups left the ambience got better. With tip, dinner was a shade under $800. It was good but Morries or Minervas offer a very similar experience at what could be half the price. We may go back, we'll see. read more

Disappointing all around. We took a friend for her BD dinner. All she could talk about was their fabulous Caprese salad and scallops. They were out of the salad at 7 when we ordered. I don't understand that they could not slice a tomato and some Mozzarella to make a fresh salad. The waitress either did not hear my friend order the scallops or she forgot to order them. By the time they served us, my friend did not want to wait for the order to be placed. It was a very disappointing birthday dinner. I ordered the salmon that was cooked perfectly, however, the fishy crab on top of it was not good. Our other friends had the steak burgers and liked them. The Brussels sprouts were great. First time at this establishment. Restaurant has been open for 7 weeks now. First thoughts on environment...beautiful location looking out onto the Falls. Has both upstairs (more intimate) and downstairs (main bar area with open kitchen) seating. Love the smell of open fire kitchen when you first enter. First courses were chilled oysters and steak tartare. Oysters were east coast from MA. Small to medium in size. Nice balance of sweet and briny. Not overpowering and surprisingly fresh (being in the Midwest). Mignonette and cocktail were standard. Calabrian chili sauce was a nice twist on the standard "Tabasco" flavor. Steak tartare had nice presentation. Well grilled points. First run was incredibly salty, the General Manager swiftly came over after he had seen me push the dish aside. He immediately tasted the dish and had it remade to his liking. Ended up being my favorite dish, nice balance of richness from the oil, TOUCH of salt and sour and acid from the cornichons. Cured egg provided a little more salt and dab of richness. It is a nice play on the classic French dish. French onion was unique and delicious. It was deconstructed as opposed to the run of the mill types. Onions were tender, not soggy, and retained their sweetness. The single crouton was just enough and had a nice touch of truffle flavor. The broth was epic. Deep in beefy flavor, had more body which may be from either a roux or starch. Not your typical runny and watery soup. Highly recommend Main was the wagyu zabuton. Ordered black and blue. Could have been a bit more charred and ultimately ended up being a rare cook. Nice finish w maldon and seasoned well. Nice intermuscular fat. I also indulged on a half order of the gnocchi, squash, sage. Sauce was broken and little oily. Squash was cooked nicely w a little char. Gnocchi were super soft and fluffy pillows. I personally like a little more chew but good either way. Lastly, got a side of the mushrooms. Nothing to write home about. Oil, garlic, light seasoning. Nice to NOT be super salty, in order to taste the umami from the fungus. All of the staff were very welcoming and many attended to every one of my needs. Refills before drinks were empty. Also nice to have light social talk w both the waiting staff and GM. Overall, very nice experience. There were a few small items that could have been better but in the end a huge success. Goes head to head w Morries and if you want a newer twist from the ordinary menu and presentation, you should certainly try. Little on the pricey side so get ready to donate some greenbacks. I feel the experience is priced into the menu offerings. IW gives off more energy than the other SF steakhouse. Highly recommend and will return. read more

Amazing place to eat or get drinks. my husband and I sat at the bar and Zach was great. We got there at 5:00, so it wasn't busy at all, but we made reservations just to be safe. The Lemon Drop Martini and the Smoked Old Fashion were delicious and creatively served. They bring a great assortment of bread/butter and we split the Rib Eye, which was perfectly done with the mushrooms and potato dish. This was plenty for the both of us. We entertained our son and daughter-in-law Sat night. Restaurant was half full; bar service took forever. Two drinks brought to us about 12 min after we ordered and my guest's drinks at least 10 min later. My husband had salmon which was average; I had hoped for lobster ravioli and they were "out" of that so went with cheese ravioli which was not very tasty, My son ordered scallops (very very small-not your normal size). At the end, my son ordered a Macallan 18 only to find it was $125 for a 2 oz pour. (Some background- my son has lived in LA, Seattle, St. Louis and ordered this from many upscale restaurants-he also has been a bartender and collector of scotch/whiskey etc.) He has never paid more that $50 for that glass. Even the manager didn't know how the bar got that price and was not offering to check it. We paid the bill- that's our last visit here. They should've done better is all ways--there was no crowd there that Saturday night. read more

Summary for the evening. Going on a less busy day, a Monday, I figured it would be less crowded and prob better service. Wrong. Even though window tables were open the entire time we were there, they chose to sit us away from the windows and near the restrooms. It wasn't crowded, but the server started out the night informing us that because everything is cooked over a hardwood fire, it takes longer and that we should be prepared for approx a 2 hour meal from start to end. I would expect that at a fancier 5 course meal restaurant, but not a steakhouse. It was just my wife and I. I guess that was supposed to mentally prepare us for a long cooking time. And it was. Our server was fine, but the kitchen lagged. I ordered the smoked bone marrow and a bowl of lobster bisque to share for the appetizer and it took a long time to come out. Then the big wait on the steaks. 45 mins. Then they brought me a New York when I had ordered the wagyu. I took a bite of it, lol...it was good, but now, who evers steak that was, was going to have to wait longer. They remedied it right away with the wagyu (they had just mixed up the orders in the kitchen and brought the wrong one to me at first). A guy came out and apologized and took my hefty priced wagyu off the bill. All the food was delicious and prepared well. Even still it was a plus $300 bill even with my steak taken off for just 2. Our server felt bad. I told her it's the kitchens fault, not hers. I'd go again but it is a tad overpriced. The wagyu and all of it tasted awesome. The wait killed the experience. read more
