The kids' menu has a good variety and is reasonably priced. We've visited ROAM a few times now and have tried several items off the menu. Everything we've had has been really good! Roam was my favorite restaurant after moving from California to Sioux Falls. Sadly, I always order the Brisket of Beef, (usually delicious,) but the last 3 times I have come with a friend or date, the meat was dry and burnt. I warned the waitress last night about my experience and said I wanted the meat to be tender, not burnt. She brought me a plate of blackened meat that was too tough to eat. I returned it and she brought me 4 tiny pieces of meat that tasted like beef jerky, no cornbread at all. The manager came over and finally gave me some fresh meat with another tiny piece of cornbread, but at that point, I was not hungry. I am so disappointed that I will not return unless they pay heed to this review. They have never offered a discount after all this. read more

Tried this out after looking at reviews and honestly we were underwhelmed for the price. Here's the good, bad and the meh. Jalapeño poppers were good but overpriced for only 3. Fiesta bbq platter the pulled pork, brisket and ribs were good chicken and meh. Got the roasted Brussels sprouts which were underseasoned and steams not roasted, Mac & cheese was meh.Ribeye was underseasoned and over cooked ordered medium and got well done. Highlight was the toasted coconut tequila signature drink. Service was meh we asked for more timw to look over the menu and waitress came back 10 minutes later. Food came out about 15 minutes later. After glue got out food we didn't see the waitress again until we got our check. Maybe our standards are too high but we expected more for the price. If you're looking for a local place check out The Dive, also local well seasoned and 1/4 the cost. read more

Arrived at the location at 7:30 with reservation, sat at 7:40 and placed our order at 7:50. We finally got our meal at 9:00! Look, I can understand being backup in the kitchen, I can understand waiting for food like any restaurant. But the thing is, we waited and waited and WAITED for more than 1 hour 30 minutes just for someone to come back and tell us that we're the 8th ticket still. Mind you, we didn't have any communication or status of when our food was suppose to arrive. Respect to the server and manager for being nice and adjusting the bill. I've been meaning to try this place for forever and finally went. First, the restaurant is huge. Nice to not have to wait for a seat. Our waitress was over quickly. There are your basic bbq meat options and sandwiches too. I decided to do the half order of baby back ribs with Mac and cheese and got cornbread with. We had started with chips and salsa. It was just okay and then I remembered - well we are at a bbq restaurant not a Mexican restaurant. Our dinner came and the ribs were amazing. I did not need any additional sauce. The meat fell right off the bone. The Mac and cheese was the juicy cheesy kind where you basically can drink the cheese juice after. I can we digging it. Service: Good, but not exceptional. No points deducted for service. Food: First of all, the second you walk into this beautiful restaurant, the amazing smell of smoked meat hits you. Your expectations are instantly set. I ordered the smoked braised lamb shank. It was very tasty, no complaints in the taste department. It was a pretty small shank, which is fine. But for $33, I expected more than an ice cream scoop size serving of mashed potatoes and 3 medium sized carrots cut in half. Portion sizes compared to price could have been better considering the potatoes and carrots are the cheapest part of that dish. The real problem we had was the beef brisket my wife ordered. I actually think the price compared to portion sizes was acceptable on this. The house BBQ sauce that came on the side was really good. The smoke and seasoning was really tasty. That being said, damn was it crazy dry. Everyone knows the most important thing about smoked brisket is the moist rendered fat in it. My first brisket I ever smoked in my life was more juicy than this brisket. It was bordering on thick cut tender jerky. read more

So close to being great! A few things that a restaurant of this type should be better at. We ordered the chips and guacamole appetizer. The chips could have been warmed and it looked the guacamole had been in the bowl for a day.. salmon was good, roasted red potatoes were warm at best, same with the broccoli/onion side. Yes! Yes! Yes! Ribeye Steak was really good! Cooked as ordered (Med Rare) with Brussel Sprouts and taters. Good choice for the steak. I has the Pork Shoulder but was a little let down because it was on the dry side. The BBQ Sauce was really good to add the moisture along with the toast and Mac & Cheese. I have had some inconsistent service experiences when I have visited Roam. The good news is, the food and the service has been improving every time I go there. I will say that you might want to consider how much time you have and how quickly you need to eat before you schedule dinner. If you're starving-don't go. The service and atmosphere tends to lend itself to a more relaxed and 'no rush' type of eating experience. Which is great if you have the time. However, If you need to get in and out in a decent amount of time, consider going when you have more time. Just fyi. As far as the food, I don't recall ever having anything terrible so it gets a thumbs up. It's a Beautiful place. Great atmosphere. You can sit inside by the fire, or outside on the patio. Most of the patio is covered so you have the option of sunny or not. Regarding inside, they actually have at least 2 different fireplaces. So it raises the ambiance level tremendously. From the outside, it appears to be one of the nicer restaurants in the Sioux Falls area. The wife and I put on our semi formal fancy pants and gave this place a whirl. Upon entering, the decor is beautiful. Everything is wood from floor to ceiling. Rotisserie chickens turning over open flames. Giant walls of wine and liquor. Large bar in the center. It's like a Farm to Table restaurant meets Gordon Ramsay. Our waitress Megan greeted us. She was friendly enough. Not the most talkative which I usually prefer. Someone who brings jokes is always a plus but nothing negative to say about her. We started with Margaritas and the appetizer of smoked Burrata. Our Margaritas were absolutely terrible. Tasted like straight sugar water. So horrible. The smoke Burrata was excellent. Plating was gorgeous and the dish was top notch. Having eaten at several Gordon Ramsay restaurants in Vegas, this app was like something I'd get there. Then we were brought our smoked brisket dinner and beef dipped sandwich. The brisket was some of the best I'd ever eaten. The Mac N Cheese was superb. Even the pickles were homemade. Cornbread was delicious. Had the Margaritas not been so gross, I would have easily awarded this place the coveted Sioux Falls Foodie 5 star rating. Decor was 5 star, food was 5 star, waitress was 3 star, drinks were 1 star. However it is one of the top 5 places in Sioux Falls. Currently at my number 4 spot behind Granite City, La Plaza Fiesta and Vinyl Tacos, in that order. I'll be back again and this time I'll order a drink that's not a Margarita. Prices were decent. With a nice tip, $50/person. A must try in the Sioux Falls area. read more

We dined at 5:00pm. I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs with a side of bourbon glazed brussel sprouts. In spite of the fact that we ate early, the ribs were too dry to eat, and burnt on the top. I cut about 4 ribs from the center to eat because I was hungry and the sauce was tasty. Gave up after that and took the rest home. I think the ribs were left over from lunch (I guess) and sat on the smoker and left to dry out. Not good. The brussel sprouts were steamed and tough, with no hint of bourbon glaze. By the menu, I thought they would be crispy and tangy with the glaze--nope. No flavor, ate half the order if that. The corn bread was good, but only about 2" x 2" in a pie shape. Too little, too late. Bad meal--don't go there for the ribs, brussel sprouts or corn bread. Very disappointed-the place was packed--must have been first time like us. We won't go back. P.S. the membrane isn't pealed off the ribs--it should be, at least to absorb seasoning. Also, they didn't give me any type of steamed washcloth or even a disposal wipe to clean my hands--not good. read more

We popped in here for an early dinner and discovered the amazing happy hour menu! The prices and sizes are perfect for happy hour. Service was good and we were checked on by management as well. I ordered the deviled eggs and was dissapointed.... I LOVE deviled eggs but I'm finding lately that they are all trying to be fancy and I like basic I guess. There was an unusual flavor in these I couldn't move past. I also ordered pulled pork sliders with KC style bbq sauce and added a side of coleslaw. FANTASTIC! Friends ordered buffalo wings - tasty and spicy!, brisket tacos and cod fingers and they said it was all tasty. I liked the decor too - dark wood, fireplace, leather style seats. Great experience at ROAM tonight. I ordered the famous rotisserie chicken, I was not disappointed! The spices in the rub are zesty and a little bit sweet. The entire chicken was incredibly moist. It was nice having both white and dark meat as well. The sauce on the macaroni and cheese was far too thin. It didn't coat the noodles, I constantly had to stir the bowl to get even a little sauce on the noodles. I wasn't a big fan of the cornbread if that's what you could call it. The texture was a lot more like spoon bread or corn casserole. And there were whole kernels of corn in it. The ancho butter was a nice touch. Excellent service, attentive but not overbearing. Came in just before 5 and sat at the bar thinking it would be a quick in and out. There's an event going on at the District next door and every time that happens, it seems like the service is slower. MUCH SLOWER! We waited almost 30 minutes for the appetizer to come out and another 10 to 15 minutes for our entrees. When that came out, the meat was room temperature, potatoes were hot. Sent the meat back and got lukewarm meat again, even though it came out really fast. The computers crashed just after our order was placed and staff was struggling with that, as well. A manager came over and comped our entire bill and apologized several times for everything. So, beware.... if you go to Roam when there's an event going on at the District, you may encounter problems and delays. read more

The restaurant is located right behind the Empire Mall. It has a smokehouse with a modern feel, yet has a touch of fancy. The patio is awesome for a beer and meal. It is large, open and felt great durning our meal. I had the ribeye steak that was cooked to proper temp and was very good. She had the pork shoulder which was also quiet delicious. My wife and I dont go out that often as we enjoy cooking at home. However, it was New Years Eve and we wanted to go to one of the Resturants that had been near the top of our list. The last time we were here was probably August and it was not quite as good as we had experienced in the past. We figured it must have been an off night, guess we figured wrong. We had reservations at 6:45 and when the waitress took our order (she was a really good waitress) she informed us that they were out of the meatballs, pastrami and catfish. Which is strange on New Years when you know it would be busy. I ordered the Ribs and my wife ordered the French Beef Dip (which has been a favorite since the place opened). Ten minutes later the manager came over to tell me that they were now out of Ribs??? Which is one of their signature "Wood Fired Grill" selections. So I decided to order the brisket, which is another "Wood Fired Grill" item. It took at least another 40 minutes to get our food delivered to the table. So my Brisket looked like it was cooked like you would cook a prime rib?? Not Wood Fired. The taste was ok, but not cooked anywhere what I would ever expect for Brisket. My wife got her French Dip and there was very little meat on the sandwich, about enough to cover 1/2 of the sandwich. Then she went to dip it in the Au Jus sauce and it was a lumpy beef gravy. Upon asking the waitress about it she said they changed it on the menu a month or so ago and its the gravy sauce they serve on their steaks. Basically if my wife would have ordered that mash potatoes and opened up the sandwich addng the gravy she had a open faced hot beef sandwich. To top everything else off when the waitress brought the tab I just handed her my credit card and then she brought the bill back they had charged me for the Brisket AND the Rack of Ribs along with my wife's dinner and our drinks. I had to flag down the manager again and tell him that not only they didnt have the ribs but you charged me for them. He took the ticket and when he came back he at least then took off the Ribs and didnt charge for the Brisket which he said he was planning on doing from the beginning. Why wouldn't you tell me that somewhere during the dinner and billing??? Doubtful we will ever be back, very disappointing. read more

LOVE this place. We were visiting Tea for a wedding and wanted a nice place to sit down. The restaurant had it all, great food, warm and inviting atmosphere, DELICIOUS FOOD, and wonderful staff. We ordered the stuffed jalapeños and corn bread to snack on as a starter. Jalapeños still have the seeds so just keep in mind your bite can be mild or KICK! Corn bread was OK. A little dry imo but it still had flavor. My salad was huuuuuge. But the vegetables were so fresh and crisp. So happy they use rotisserie chicken for it because the smell from the giant roaster up front filled the space and I would've been disappointed to not have some. It turned out tender and juicy. Our server gave us plenty of time to socialize and checked on us regularly without being pushy. We will have to make a point to return to Roam on our next visit but hopefully they'll open one in Texas! read more

We have been here once before and the food was amazing. Overall a good experience that time. I was excited yo return today only to be disappointed. Upon entering we were barely greeted and marched off to a table without even a hello how are you today. But, just thought maybe she was having a bad day. We sat and looked at the menu, and waited for someone to come take our drink order. There were four other tables in our area with people. I saw three waitresses come in and out of our area, they made no eye contact with us and proceeded to stand at the counter in the center looking at the television. We sat there for at least 15 minutes with no one coming by to even say sorry we will be right with you. We then decided that obviously they did not want to work today so we left. I did let the hostess that seated us know that we are leaving because no one came to take our order or even acknowledge that we were sitting there waiting to order. It is a shame with such good food you can not maintain better servers for your restaurant. Service is the most important part of a restaurant and getting the word out. I have been to mediocre restaurants with fabulous service that I would highly recommend over a restaurant that makes you feel unimportant and not appreciated for taking the time to come into your establishment. read more

The deviled eggs were smoky- wasn't sure I'd like them, but they were Egg-cellent!! (Okay goofy) Seriously, they were tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly as were the sides. The mixed berry mojito was delicious. Expect about $30 per entree and drink. Worth it. read more

The food was amazing! My husband ordered the Cajun rotini with smoked shrimp and I ordered the "from the fire" brisket. We also had the cornbread skillet as an appetizer, a smoked old fashioned, and the solerno mule. Everything was great and came out so quickly. We made a reservation ahead of time and was seated immediately. We also loved the ambiance.
