We attended a private event upstairs at Roar. This was for admitted students to a university in the NC system. I had never heard of the venue, but it was very cool! All sorts of games, bays with virtual sports, bowling, table games, and lots of food upstairs near our event. Downstairs was more of a bar area plus some more games. The food was catered by roar and this is why I'm giving it 4 stars. It could have been the selection available, or cost savings by the planner, but it was very lack luster. Put it this way, fudge rounds were in a shading dish. The staff was very nice! They encouraged us enjoy ourselves and refilled the trays. I would like to return on a weekend night during a non-sponsored event and try it again. I would describe it as Greensboro's bourbon bowl meets Dave and busters.

I want to like roar because they have great ideas but man does it all fall flat. We recently went for twisted putter and it was fun but the lights were on so it wasn't really glow in the dark. They changed the upstairs food hall (wasn't really a food hall) and made it into an arcade. It seems like they have limited staff so it took people a while to get drinks. Overall, I'd go back for the bull pin bowling and the twisted putter but that's about it.

Strawberry Pineapple Texas Style Margarita, you gotta try it and you'll thank me later!

I love a good food hall! This place doesn't stay quite as packed as I would like to see, but I love it here and I hope it survives finicky Winston-Salem. 3 levels and a rooftop, very spacious. Let's get into the food and drinks. I love margaritas and the bartender at Tequila never disappoints, so while my to go order is being prepared I enjoyed a Strawberry Pineapple Texas Style Margarita. Another fav for me here is the grilled shrimp, OMG so, so good, make sure to try the elote corner as a side with cilantro lime rice.

I love food halls because you can have so many choices in one However the choices and food quality at Roar left me lacking on dinner last night. I went with the fam-bam to an almost empty food hall, but Wednesday evening in WS sometimes is slow. I got a single patty mushroom Blue cheeseburger for $11 and his $4 side of fries from Joey Corrells American. It was okay, but not $15 okay when there are so many other restaurants for less. My wife ordered the Margherita pizza at Est Est Est. It was a cheese pizza and not a Margherita so be aware of that if you know what a Margarita pizza is and what to expect. For a cheese oily individual $12 pizza it was overpriced and underwhelming. The beer wall was good, but yeah...not really that impressed to have me come back.

Good: The mini-bowling was awesome, staff was really friendly and available. For 4 of us it took about 40 minutes for a game. It was clean. Mixture of kids and classy date nights... the ambiance was odd, like they couldn't decide to be a speak easy or a chucky cheese. Disappointing: The food ... is low level cafeteria level pizza and same for the nachos. I really was expecting a higher level of food options. The simulator area was missing so much, I wish there was an archery option. I'd suggest for 4 of you, 1hr is plenty here. Bar area, they really need a menu, good quality options but no cocktail menu. No food or beverage delivery; you just have to "guess" when the food is ready and go get it, and for drinks, if you are on another floor with the bowling and simulator, you will need to find a bar, versus delivery or close bar options.

Went to Roar for the food hall. I felt like pizza so ordered the margherita pizza at Est Est Est. It should have just been called a "cheese" pizza. The dough was light and airy but when I order a Margherita pizza, I expect a mozzarella melt in your mouth pizza with a light marinera sauce and basil. This was just a cheese oily individual $12 pizza. My husband was underwhelmed by his $11 mushroom Blue cheese burger and his $4 side of fries from Joey Corrells American St food. I did try his fries though and thought they were kinda amazing. My son ordered biria tacos at Centenario and was very pleased. We did the beer wall which had a lot of options and the beer was nice and cold. Upstairs was entertainment such as music and bowling. I did not go upstairs so I'm reviewing based on our food experience only. Would we come back?....mehhhhh...maaaybe. Really not sure, I wasn't blown away.

My husband and I spent the day Saturday with my brother and SIL at what is quickly becoming our favorite hangout spot, ROAR. Since we were going to a family dinner that evening, we opted for small bites at Fords Food Hall (which always become bigger bites after looking at their vast menus). This go round we went with the Paloma for me and the Spicy Margarita for my SIL at the bar. My husband and my brother enjoyed using their fobs for the beer wall. Food wise, my husband got the roasted oysters, blackened shrimp tacos, and she crab soup from Blue Crab and my SIL ordered the nashville hot fish sandwich with an elote corn side from there as well. My brother and I both ordered from JC American Street Food - he got the cheesy western burger w/ hand cut fries and I got the Carolina classic fair burger w/ sweet potato wedges and an order of the Nashville hot wings. Y'all have no idea how fun it is to try different drinks at the bar and distinct eats in the food hall each time we visit. Plus, who doesn't enjoy a roaring 20's theme/atmosphere? We have yet to play any of the games on the second floor but we know our time is coming because we can't stop popping in! They even have zombie dodgeball - we are all in! The only downside we have found to playing the games is it's a little pricey - $95 an hour for the simulator and $50-$65 for bowling depending on when you play. But if you go with a group and split the cost it could be worth it! And the rooftop just can't be beat. Seriously one of the best chill spots I've found in the Triad. If you haven't made your way to ROAR yet for a bomb atmosphere, yummy drinks, and delicious eats at one of their 5 different eateries, we promise you are missing out!!

I've tried their Fried Chicken Sandwich ( small filet, middle of the pack overall), but not the wings. Today I ordered the classic wings, both the Original Hot and the Lemon Pepper dry rubbed - a 6 piece mix & match combo for $12.69, it comes with their famous, well seasoned FF and a large drink. I also got a side of Cajun Corn medallions. I got both the Blue Cheese and the Ranch sauces. The FF are rather unique for a fast food spot - freshly hand cut, with a bit of skin left on, sprinkled with a seasoning mix that gives the fries sweet, salty, and savory aspects. While these fries are very popular, I'm not a fan of the seasoning, don't care for the sweet flavor on fries. Without that sweetness, these would be very, very good fries in both taste and texture - as it is, I would pass on a combo on any future visits, or swap out the fries for celery or such. The corn medallions are sliced directly from the cob, deep fried, and then sprinkled with Cajun seasoning. The corn was tasty and in medallion form, easy to deal with, but a touch greasy. The medallion were easily handled with one hand, a convenient touch. Now let's talk about the wings. The wings served here are touted as never frozen , and are cooked to order. The cooked to order claim is simply not always the case - at heavy traffic times, full baskets are cooked in anticipation of orders to be received - just how broad is the "cooked to order" window? Since around 90% of Wingstop restaurants are franchised operations, I would guess there can be significant differences in the breadth of that window. As to the never frozen, this approach brings up logistical issues for the individual restaurants - dependable suppliers capable of frequent deliveries, determining proper delivery sizes - would locations be tempted to freeze chicken to reduce loss? Would cooked wings be "carried over" to the next day? Like always, get to know your restaurant if you expect you will visit more than just occasionally! As is my habit when visiting a restaurant, I arrived shortly after the posted opening time - here it is 10:30. As was the case at the other location ( and a good number of other restaurant spots), they weren't really ready to conduct, still prepping, organizing, turning on the fryers, checking their cell phone, getting ready for their day in the world of fast food service! Took just under 25 minutes to get my order, not exactly fast food speed. The Original Hot wings were very nice with the sauce providing the right amount of heat to complement the plumb, well cooked chicken. The texture was also excellent with the tender meat pulling cleanly off the bone. The wings were nicely sauced with a bit of residue at the bottom for more dipping, but not so much as to make the wings soggy in any way! The Lemon Pepper wings were much the same, though I found them as touch bland. The Blue Cheese was good, but not great. I thought the ranch was the stronger of the two! Would I come back for these wing - only if a convenient drive by. There are a number of spots locally that topped these wings, with comparable pricing and better service - Starting with Ronni's, Waldo's, Sixty-Six, and even Longhorn, for dry rub. And other very good choices include Pizza Hut (Yes, Pizza Hut), Chili's, East Coast Wings, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebees, and of course Zaxby's! Long review, but for a reason - this chain is getting a lot of media attention - sometimes this works, sometimes it don't - we'll see, I think there are storms on the horizon, with the service aspect the most troubling!

Wingstop isn't spending their money on decor. It's pretty basic with a tan and green color theme. At least the chairs have padding. They have 3 TV's in the dining room but muted of course and NO music. Ugh. It's become an epidemic with restaurants in Winston. We ordered some original mild tenders, bone in wings in Lemon pepper and original hot, , Cajun corn and veggie sticks. Of course we got sides of their famous ranch and a honey mustard sauce as well. The tenders are big! I got a 5 piece and I could only eat two. I had two bone in lemon pepper wings as well and now I know what the hype on this flavor is all about. SO good! I want to try that flavor in the tenders next time. When we placed our order, we were told it would be 18 min. I've read some reviews on the other location in Winston about it taking much longer than the quoted time so I set my stopwatch to see how long it would actually take. Almost to the minute it was 18 min. This location just opened so many employees are still training but we were well taken care of at the counter, ordering and someone checked on us twice to see if we needed anything while we were eating. A+ for excellent service Wingstop Hanes Mall Blvd! Please keep that standard and you'll have a regular customer in me. For my first visit to Wingstop I can see why it's so popular. There were a lot of interesting sounding cocktails on the menu, but I wasn't feeling super adventurous so I just got a glass of Chardonnay. I also wasn't super hungry so I got the Big Ol' Pretzel with queso (other side choices were brown sugar or mustard) and a Caesar side salad. The pretzel was great. It was salty and had a great texture (and did not have that microwaved chewy texture that you get sometimes)! I do prefer beer cheese to queso but the pretzel was so good it wasn't a huge deal. The side salad was larger than expected. I didn't care for the dressing. It was not a traditional Caesar taste or texture - not creamy, more of a vinaigrette, and gave the salad greens a slimy texture. Our server seemed busy but was pleasant and checked on us and food was served in a timely manner.

I did not want to be sluggish in the afternoon from over eating. But the menu described a burger that seemed impossible to turn down. I ordered one...and.... I thoroughly enjoyed this burger. I ordered a mushroom burger with blue cheese. It was delicious. Tasty. Perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The bun was super fresh. The mushrooms amazing. The sauces superb. But if I spend $16 on a burger and soda, I expect more. This burger could have been on the kids menu at a different restaurant. Those tiny potato rolls...you know the ones...housed this mini-meal. And despite the flavor, I would never do it again. I mean, it didn't even come with fries. Imagine the look on my face with the burger came out with no fries on that tray. On top of that, my small soda was $3.50. THREE FIFTY for a small fountain soda!!!! Absurd. So, I may try this place again...because the food is really good. I often debate back-and-forth whether or not to go to a sports bar to enjoy it or to stay at home. The unfortunate thing about going to a sports bar is that you will have to sit next to someone that might be rooting against your team... so the food has to be really good to get me out... I am the exact opposite with the NFL. I prefer to go out and watch it at a sports bar because the games aren't that important to me. But that makes the food and ambience even more important. So, I had a client who wanted to get out for NFL football. We chose Twin Peaks. I had never been there before so I went in with no expectations. Interior looks more like a lodge than it does a sports bar. That concerned me... I am not from the south so I did not know what to expect. Were they going to serve bar food... Or was this going to a wild game menu? We were seated in the section with a server named Alyse. Someone else had recommended her section so we asked for it when we got there. She gave us the rundown the available beers and told us about the daily specials. A lot of times the server can dictate the dining experience. Her positive energy and friendliness got the evening off to a great start. She got us through some appetizer options and suggested the right topping for the nachos. They did not disappoint. The means were tasty and the quantity of food was ample for the price. She told us about the three options on the 22 ounce beers. I chose the brunette and it was cold and delicious. I am not a big beer drinker so this was a plus for me. After a bit-- the Eagles were wearing out the Cowboys-- we decided to order some wings. We were disappointed that they were out of the smoked wings, and chose the breaded ones instead. Again, Alyse, guided our wing decision and we chose the pineapple, habanero sauce, and the lemon pepper rub. The wings were sufficiently sauced and tasty. I loved the habanero sauce, even though it was probably a little too sweet for me. The lemon pepper wings were also delicious. I don't usually go for the dry rubs, but these were solid. The habanero wings were really really spicy. My client ate one and spent the next few minutes wiping the sweat off of his face. I am a professional spicy food eater so I handled them a little bit better. We hung out for a bit and grabbed our check and got out of there. If I were assigning grades, I would say that the server gets an A+ because she said the tone and was very friendly and attentive. The beer gets an A. It was cold and tasty. The nachos earned a B+. They were tasty, but they got a little soggy The wings definitely get an A. I love breaded wings and these were incredible. They were cooked well and the flavor will make me go back for more The menu is bountiful... The staff was friendly... The other diners were in a great mood....
