Very very rude! Considering the fact that we had a decent sized party and spent over $1000 at this restaurant one would think that they would at least pretend to be nice. Instead they were actively rude, seemingly going out of their way to express how inconvenient it was to serve us! On top of the attitude they sneakily conned more money out of us with our salad coarse. The menu says all 'meals come with pasta and salad' so when the waitress asked us what kind of salad one person said caesar and she said okay. She then went around the table taking our orders and asked if we each wanted the cases too; with no mention of an upcharge. When we received our bill there was an extra $70 charge for Caesar salads, because they were $10 EACH!!! $10 for a small side salad of lettuce which she never mentioned was more. I have worked in the industry my entire life and I have never seen this blatantly sneaky practice of upping a check. The manager Kathy (a middle-aged lady in the purple dress) was the worse offender who clearly sets the tone for this miserable wait staff. This whole experience was appalling and we will NEVER return to this establishment. read more

I ordered Veal Saltimbocca. When it arrived, it was obvious that it had been sitting in the kitchen quite a while. The scant amount of sauce on it was well on its way to fully congealing. No chef, even no waiter, should have ever allowed this dish to leave the kitchen. To top it off, the pasta marinara was lukewarm and tasted more like ketchup that Italian sauce. I rarely return a dish, but this was a no brainer. Considering the prices, I recommend you skip Roberto's. We vacation on LBI for a couple of weeks every summer. This time we decided to try restaurants where we've never dined previously. Big mistake. Roberto's Dolce Vita had virtually no ambiance. The noise level made it impossible to carry on a conversation and it was extremely difficult to place our order. Acoustics is a real problem in this establishment. We were greeted cordially and we told the hostess that this was our first time there. She told us that we'd enjoy the restaurant so much that we'd definitely come back. NEVER! By the way, this was the same person that ignored us when we left as she was busy chatting with diners at another table. She didn't thank us for our patronage or ask us if we enjoyed our meal. How rude! We shared some type of tomato and mozzarella salad appetizer. It was small and tasteless. The bread served was one small sesame covered roll. Not even warm and barely big enough to share. We each ordered pasta dishes. One was their signature bolognese served over linguine. The other was marinara served over penne. Pasta prepared al dente is a preference of ours. However, this tasted like it came straight out of the box. The salad that accompanied our meal left much to be desired. Limp greens with bottled dressing. Not even a crouton to be found. We passed on dessert and each of us ordered a cappuccino. Nice presentation but they were both topped with an abundance of cinnamon so that you could barely taste the coffee. We recently had our rehearsal dinner at Roberto's. I cannot say enough about how great it was. They were very accommodating, helped us plan the menu, and the food was amazing!!! Everyone at the dinner kept telling us how great everything was. I highly recommend them! read more

B.Y.O.B. Quite place & friendly service. When I'm craving italian; theres a certain homemade "something" I'm looking for; just didn't get it here.. Ordered the bolognese w capellini & a chicken parmesan; it was so so ;( They made a steak for the lil' one that was not even on the menu so that was nice but that was the best dish at our table! My family and I have been going to Roberta's for years. They absolutely have one of the best Veal Parmagiana that we have ever had. One of these days my boys and I may even order something different...possible, but not likely! We also typically have the pasta bolognese which is incredible. The wait staff, starting with Kathy the hostess and the rest of her clan are as gracious and welcoming as any restaurant that we have been to on the island. Made a 6:00 pm reservation for the outside patio and was told the fans would make it cool. When we arrived it was still too hot outside and asked if we could be seated inside since I was with my 84 year young mother. We were told there was a cancellation and it was possible, but the young man said he needed to check with his father. After 25 minutes, the man who had Executive Chef on his uniform stated there were too many seats at the table for the cancelled reservation and we would have to sit at our originally reserved table outside. When he brought us out there it was like being smacked in the face with the heat and I knew my mother could not sit there through dinner and be comfortable. The man's response was "that's all we have" even though there were at least 10 empty tables inside. So we left and will never go back. As natives who grew up on this island, we have 50 and 84 years of experience between us and have never heard of a restaurant turning anyone away when they state they have had an unstable season and have empty tables. The Ketch not only accommodated us, but moved a table inside and added two chairs so we could enjoy our dinner. That's how you run a successful restaurant! We ate here for the first time three weeks ago though we have been coming to LBI our whole lives - 46 years. We just blow by it on the way to Stefano's and kept saying someday we should try Roberto's. Being down for a whole week, we decided to try places we don't normally go to. I wish we had kept on driving by. Menu seemed very basic Italian, so I thought to go for some basic dishes. Since they give you a salad, we decided to share an app - Mozzerella en Carozza and ordered two entrees - Chicken Parm and their Veal Dolce Vita, which they claim is their specialty. The Mozzarella en Carozza was a thin slice of Mozzarella between two slices of bread, breaded and fried. The Marinara that came with it was so acidic neither of us would eat it. Alarmed I asked the waitress to change my order to Chicken Dolce Vita instead of parm to avoid the dreadful red sauce. Now having the same entrees with one veal and one chicken we both came to the same conclusion: This is the specialty of the house? The demi glace was bland, the protein was soggy. We both agreed to go back to our informal boycott of the place for the next 46 years. The one thing I can say is that the waitress was lovely and very nice and accommodating. The hostess, oddly, kept waking back and forth and pulling the very low decolletage of her tank dress up to prevent flashing the whole place. Seriously, she walked past our table 11 times hiking this thing up and that's how many times I saw her bra. Nearly all of it. Blechhh. read more
