Good service, delicious food. The seafood risotto is to die for, although the seafood fra diavolo wasn't great. The service is always slow, but the food is usually worth the wait. I've visit once a year during my trip to Ogunquit. It's good, but I wouldn't say the best in the area. read more

Only reason why it gets 1 stars is the quality of food but still overpriced. $22 for canneloni? Seafood fra diablo not a $31 meal. One of the worst experiences ever in regards to customer service. They maybe get a break because we sat in bar and they were busy but waitress made 2 many mistakes and went missing for 15-20 minutes too many times. Forgot drinks waters utensils bread What made it worse was owner who did not step in when we brought it to her attention that we had apps without silverware. Made an excuse that they were a family and worked together. Ha!! She proceeded to talk non stop to people in next table who were high roller " marginal way" socialites. Look elsewhere, this establishment is like a German/Italian car very sexy to look at and drive however is a dog to repair. Took my mom here for her birthday dinner had a very stiff recooked or leftover eggplant parm, others in my party had the grilled zucchini at $20.00 very sad dish. My chicken Marsala was ok. Great looking classic atmosphere but food and service a let down. You can do better. read more

Almost everything was wrong about this place. The lighting was too bright. The music at times sounded as though it was mimicking a funeral procession. The food was expensive, the portions were small, and it was not well prepared. We were seated at on the top of a step, protruding into the opening of the pass through. Ridiculous. The place was empty. The staff hovered, joking with each other. They wreaked of cheap cologne and perfume which made the experience go from worse to absolutely terrible. Unless it was drowned out by the smell of old fish from surrounding tables. The service from our server was very good. He was friendly and knowledgeable. But that was not enough to bring it past one star. And they think they got it going on here. But this place would be out of business after it's first night if it was in Fairfield or Westchester county. I would suggest getting a sandwich at Cumberland farms if given the choice between that and the experience I had at Roberto's. Dont go. read more

Took an hour and forty minutes from our reservation time until we got our food. We ate extremely fast because we were so hungry and still felt like we were being rushed out of there since they were closing. Complained to management about the amount of time it took and were told that it was because it's a really busy time in Ogunquit. Yes, it was during the summer, but it was a Monday night. Extremely unacceptable. If you are going to seat that many people, make sure you can provide adequate service. read more

Went to this restaurant at end of July as a return visit by a couple we travelled with. Previously, couple said restaurant was very good. This time, out of four meals, only one was good. My meal, a simple eggplant parmesan, was badly overcooked. The eggplant itself was very thin and difficult to cut. There was no appreciable cheese cooked with the eggplant. At least the waitress offered some fresh ground parmesan at the table. My wife's meal, an italian trio combination, was just plain bland. From the other couple's meals, the lady ordered a seafood linguini, which is supposed to have scallops, shrimp and lobster. She got two scallops, two shrimp, and a sliver of lobster. At $29 for the dish, this was woefully inadequate. The other man at the table also got a seafood dish, which he said was good, with a decent portion of seafood. He kept trying to give his wife some of his seafood to supplement her dish, which did not really make things any better. The service was slow, but I blame this entirely on the kitchen and not the waitress. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The facility looks great from the street, and the atmosphere is very cozy, so no problems here. Finally, there was also required "complimentary" valet parking at the restaurant. Of course, you have to tip the valet, but the parking spot was literally 20 feet away and totally unnecessary. Bottom line, for the price of the meals, we simply felt like we were ripped off. I only gave the restaurant a 2 out of 5 rating because of the one good meal that we received. Don't take the risk of being disappointed. Go somewhere else. read more

A 7:00 seating and didn't eat until 9! Waitress was great in apologizing for lack of food coming out. Once it came out, some were hot, filet mignon warm and not cooked to ordered. Swordfish lukewarm. Some dishes hot, some not so much. A VERY off night for them! read more

We won't go back. The food was OK; we had basic pasta dishes with tasty sauces. Service was terrible. No bread, drinks took forever to get to the table, but the food took even longer. When I asked someone, who looked like a manager, where our food was, she disappeared and came back and said it had been 48 min. Not an apology, just a time check I guess. About 15 min. later food arrived; same woman comes back to the table and said "it was really 45 min." There are better choices in Ogunquit! read more

We hadn't dined at Roberto's for a few years but had dinner there this past Saturday night. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. The server was knowledgeable about the menau and pleasant. All in all, a nice experience and the food was very good. read more

Kent on Yahoo review took the words right out of my mouth! Funny how I couldn't write a review on that site. I wonder, too many of the same bad reviews to follow! This establishment needs all help in food service, as well as customer service! Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a shoe leather grilled lobster and scallop dinner. The nerve to put $29.00 next to the entrée on the menu. Server came back about fifteen minutes later to see how our food was. I spoke up and said horrible, unacceptable for the amount of time waited. He asked if I wanted anything else. I laughed and said seriously! I really don't want seafood for breakfast by the time that new entrée would of arrived! Frustrated as it was, I asked to speak to the manager. A blond miserable woman with no customer service etiquette came over very rude. I explained how my entrée was unacceptable, the worst lobster I've ever had. I said my local grocery store has better lobsters than this! She had nothing to say and walked away! You think after 30 years this so called establishment would get there s**t together! I left in disgust and needed to leave my ass was sore sitting there for so long! Very disappointed in their takeout pizza. Very expensive and not very good. Wouldn't have minded paying $40 for 1 large and 1 medium if it was great but the med traditional was overdone with blackened edges and the large chicken pesto was just ok. Much rather go to the standard pizza places in town and not be ripped off. read more

Delicious! Can't wait to return. The sauce was tasty and the thin crust with the oven kissed edges were crispy and very tasty. The Spinach salad with the apples and walnuts was perfection. The casual ambiance and humble staff are delightful and a refreshing change from some of the other options in town. Not sure why we have walked by this restaurant for years without trying it. We've been here before and really liked it...I think maybe it has become too popular for its own good....seems many items are frozen or not fresh....disappointed with the food, esp b/c we liked it so much in years past. Was visiting form California with family from New Jersey. Went one night to the restaurant and the food and service were great. The shrimp appetizer was awesome, shrimp cooked perfectly, and lot's of garlic. On the way out we met the owner Kathy and asked about the pizza. She described it so wonderfully we came back another night to try it out. There were four of us an they set up a custom table by the fireplace to accommodate us. The pizza did not disappoint! Definitely will come back next time we are in Orgunquit read more

Roberto's is a quaint little restaurant, and the food was good, server was very pleasant but the service was extremely slow. As another user mentioned, the water glasses are very small which I found odd. I ordered a sparkling water and was given the same 4 oz. glass as the iced water they give you, so that was a bit of a turnoff. Would have liked to have seen a larger glass with ice brought with the large water versus having to ask for it. read more

This is the first bad review I write. Our experience was so bad that I had to let other people know. We went for dinner on a Wednesday night. We waited forever for our appetizers and had to ask for our main courses that took over an hour. By the time they came out it was over an hour and a half since we sat down. The meal was not as good or homemade enough to justify that amount of time. Even our kids simple meals took over an hour (boiled pasta and pizza). It turned out it wasn't our server. We did call the manager and explained that our whole wing cleared out and even people that sat down after us. She proceeded to give us a breakdown of the time and explain that meals there take over an hour since the order comes in the kitchen. I can wait an hour if the meal is amazing but this was probably a 6 at best. It didn't take an hour for everyone around us. My lobster pasta was $30. My husband and I got sick. I never wished for a Gordon Ramsey intervention until tonight. Worst meal I had in probably 5 years and we eat out 3-4 times a week. read more

Although we live locally, had never eaten at Roberto's, and will not do so again. Waiter was friendly and charming but less than attentive. While 4 dinners were served, we waited 5 minutes for the fifth in our party to be served. I was extremely disappointed with my eggplant parmigiana - 2 slices of eggplant overly crisp stuffed with cheese not melted with a side of room temp pasta. Lots of "I'm sorry," but no attention when needed. If you are looking for a tasteful food experience and service, this is not the place to go. read more

On Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., my wife and I decided to visit Roberto's Pizzeria for dinner. Upon arrival, I noticed signage on the patio that clearly stated outside seating was strictly self-service as per Town of Ogunquit ordinance. We promptly chose our table. At 6:10 p.m., I went indoors to place my order. After a few questions, I ordered two pizzas, one bottle of water, and a Corona Beer. I asked the young lady behind the counter how long it would take after I had placed the order to get the pizzas. She responded that she did not know in a curt and unprofessional tone. At that point, an older woman also behind the counter asked her to repeat my question. She then replied with a laconic "10 -12 minutes." I returned outdoors at 6:15 p.m. and took my seat. In the meantime, several clients came and filled the patio area. After a short while, I began to see table service by wait staff, delivering drinks and taking orders. I returned indoors and asked the older women behind the counter if I had understood the sign correctly and why suddenly there was table service available outdoors. She responded that she was not there to debate me and quickly turned the other way to ignore me, taking the order of someone else. I was shocked both by the rudeness and by the lack of service and professionalism. My wife and I decided to give them one more chance, and once again I returned to my seat on the patio. At exactly 6:45 p.m. (still no pizza) my wife entered and inquired the status of our order. They told her the pizzas were in the oven and would be ready shortly. She returned outdoors. Very soon after that, plates were brought to all customers out on the patio who had ordered via waiter or waitress. Since we had ordered self-service, we had no place settings, no food, no beverages. Orders were being delivered to the tables all around us even to those who arrived well after us. It was unclear to us why with self-service signage so prominent outdoors, the ordinance would be so completely disregarded by all present. By 7:00 p.m., the pizzas still had not arrived. We finally threw in the towel, asked that our order be cancelled, and left the restaurant. We have been visiting Ogunquit for decades and have frequented several hotels and restaurants. We are accustomed to a friendly, cordial, and pleasant atmosphere. Needless to say, the service and staff at Roberto's certainly did not live up to our expectations of what Ogunquit is all about. read more

I have to say I am quite surprised by some of the posts. We went to Roberto's last Friday night for the first time and it got high marks from me and the people I was with- the food was very good. My only advise is book a reservation, it gets very busy. read more

First I do not like being told that I need to order my appetizer and entrée at the same time for the purposes of timing in the kitchen. Makes me feel rushed. The presentation of the food was so so. My veal was dried out and looked very lonely on the plate all alone. I would prefer going to Olive Garden........ seriously! read more

One of the cozier and more upscale restaurants in Ogunquit. The service is very welcoming and friendly, but also often what I would call "summer rushed". The food ranges from extremely good to just ok depending on what you order. On the best end: flatbreads, prosciutto and melon (perfectly ripe melon and good prosciutto), ceasar salad, roast half chicken. On the less successful end: chicken marsala (overwhelmed by some odd combination of marsala and tomato sauce to excess), linguini with clams (it was ok, but not as good as most), pasta three ways (unimpressive meatball and chicken meatball, good sausage). The steaks looked great, but we didn't order them so will defer to those who did. The simpler and more basic you order, the better the food. As they try to be more complex, it sometimes falls short. That being said, it's a very warm and enjoyable place for dinner and we came multiple times during our stay in Ogunquit. read more

Another wonderful dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants. We have been coming here for seven years and have never been disappointed. The seafood risotto was a smaller sized portion than in years past but previous portions have been too much anyways, so it was the perfect amount of food. My husband had the veal saltimbocca and although it was not made with sage it was still delicious. Service was prompt, and as many have said English is not the primary language of much of the staff but I had no problem understanding our server Natasha. Yes the water glasses are small, but I prefer wine with my meal. There was someone coming around to fill our water glass at least every ten to fifteen minutes. Service was prompt and efficient and right on time. The price was expected, for two people wth appetizer, cocktails, wine, entrees, and dessert came to $125 for two. It was worth it. I can see it not being very child friendly but only because it is more of a romantic restaurant than somewhere I would bring children. We are like looking forward to our next visit! read more

This was the worst dining experience of my life. The food was horrible but that was nothing in comparison to the treatment of the staff. They were rude, disrespectful, condescending and just plain awful. I have never witnessed anything like it in my entire life. The owner was certainly the worst- she was yelling and swearing at her customers. When confronted about her rude comments she became defensive- using expletives and aggressive language. Even some of her wait staff approached the guests and told us "the big lady is here- and she's not someone you want to mess with." An indication that even they understand her horrible attitude. A gluten allergy was ignored regardless of the attempt to speak to a manager multiple times and the guest later became ill. Food had to be sent back for being over cooked and this was not taken kindly. I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anybody. Stay far away and tell your friends the same. Clearly this is not the first issue people have had with the owner considering previous reviews. read more

The restaurant is very cute and the food was good. What started out as a good experience turned out to go sour because of the server. Our server suggested a wine, the taster at our table said it was bad and rejected it. Well I guess he didn't like that we didn't like his suggestion. The server took it upon himself to bring us a wine we didn't order. It took us 40 minutes to get our appetizer and another 15 minutes to order our dinner. I went to the manager and she apologized but never checked back on us. My lobster pie was cold and the potatoes were extremely hot. I did not complain. My sister paid the bill and was told by the waiter, "I hope you are happy, my manager had been on my ass because you(that would be me not my sister) complained about me. As my sister and myself have worked in the food service most our lives still left him a tip. After talking with the rest of my party, they all agreed the food was great, so kudos to the chef and kitchen crew. Service does make or break the experience. Therefore I would not eat here again. we travel and eat out quite a bit and from food to service this was the worst dining experience we ever had. after and hour waiting for our food we tracked down our server ROB who never came to our table the whole hour to ask if we needed anything or apologize for the wait, when i told him we have been waiting an hour his response was no it has been 58 mins "for that comment he should be fired" . 12 mins later our food shows up all the pasta was hard chicken parm was so thin it was all bread crumbs and like rubber. my sons meal came out and there was three tiny chicken fingers on a plate with nothing else for $7.50.my wife has a gluten allergy and most of the staff did not even know what gluten was. the food was horrific service the same when i asked for the manager she was rude did not even offer and apology .it is one of those tourist spots where they dont care if you come back.the food , service and outragous pricing was the WORST. almost forgot about the AC (or the lack of) the room was so hot some people were leaving .
