I went to Robert's after having new tires installed at Costco. Costco told me a lug nut was stuck and that I'd need to go to a tire shop to have it fixed. I called Firestone Tires and was quoted $500, which seemed steep. I then called Robert's, which has significantly better Yelp ratings, and they quoted me $250 over the phone. If you believe in karma and have ever been on the receiving end of an SFMTA ticket that was totally BS (so, basically every San Franciscan), think twice before giving this guy your business. I've been a customer here twice. You'd think that would earn a little neighborly goodwill. Nope. The owner called SFMTA because my back bumper was barely in the red zone of a gated and locked driveway. Not blocking anything. Just... existing near his precious red paint. I parked overnight and was there in the morning to head out to work, but by 8:08 a.m., he had already gleefully called SFMTA. Ticket issued. Mission accomplished. $108 ticket issued. I'm sure that made his day, like fresh puppy blood. I've lived in this neighborhood for twenty years, and let me tell you -- this guy treats calling SFMTA the way most people treat happy hour. He lives for it. If there's a citation fairy, he's her favorite pen pal. So if you loathe SFMTA and their zero-tolerance tax on anyone who owns a car in SF -- while the city seemingly enforces nothing on anyone else -- DO NOT reward our neighborhood ogre for doing this to former customers and neighbors. Came in to get my window wipers replace. I called and got an appointment set up on the same day with no wait time. The service was pretty quick. They quote 30-40 min but I was out in 20min. Got my tires fixed here after a sudden pop in the city. I will say, the price they offer is pretty standard, and the service is fairly quick. One thing I wish I did was take more time to research the replacements I was getting. The owner really didn't offer much else other than just getting the factory wheel which comes with the car. Other wheels shops later told me that the default wheel is the most expensive and the worst one to get. Kind of a bittersweet ending, but at least they fixed it within a day! read more

Lost one no two stars. I decided to give them a call for a quote. The first price I was quoting for my hub bearing was correct. He told me he would have to order the part. I need it done today, so I asked what if I bring my own part. As I already knew he told me that it wouldn't be under warranty and then proceeded to say the labor is going to be longer than the 2 hours I originally was quoted it could now be 3-4 hours. LOL, for real, so I'm doing the math and was like no the first price is and was adequate to other repair shops...."Weird." I decided to give my money to yall, and you tried to swindle me. Oh, and his pricing I would argue is superior to other vendors (especially dealers) in the entire city. What, amazing!! What's more, Robert is centrally located and probably the most accessible *reliable/dependable* shop near FiDi and SOMA (i.e., perfect for folks on the freeway). Found out I had a flat tire when I got in my car and drove down maybe half a block and noticed my tire pressure sign on...... Couldn't find out where the nail was or if there was a nail in there so called up Robert to see if he could take me in that very same day and he said he could. My boyfriend helped me take out the flat and put on my spare. When we took out the flat, I found the culprit! There was indeed a nail in there, I was hoping it was patchable but when I brought it to Robert, he said it wasn't. Beware driving down battery st or just anywhere in San Francisco near construction sites! This is probably like my 4-5 tire replacement :( Anyways, Robert gave me a price for a new tire, which was about $120 and I happily took it. It was a lot cheaper than where I used to go to and Costco. I'm giving Robert a 5 star because he happily took me in that very same day with no appointment and got me out of there in time for work after! Great service and great prices for tires! read more

Happened to be in SF for work function this week, and as my luck would have it, my right-rear tire decided to catch a nail (don't even remember the last time this happened; haven't caught a nail in years!). I found out while leaving the parking structure at the office, while giving some coworkers a quick ride to the local hotel. Tried to go to a nearby gas station to pump the tire up and see if it would hold pressure, but unfortunately it kept leaking while parked. Did a search for the closest tire shop nearby and it happened to be Robert's. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they do free tire patching anymore. It's flat rate $50 now. And because I had TWO nails in my tire, there was additional $10 upcharge, so total $60. I understand that times are tough and with inflation it's difficult to do servicing for free. But the America's Tire that I normally frequent near home has always offered (and still does) free patching. Guess they are larger brand company compared to small mom&pop type of shop. Anyway, I came in bright and early just as they're opening up shop. There was already one other customer there, so it took some time to complete. In total it took about 45 minutes or so. Been going to Robert and team for my tire and wheel needs since 2020, and I must stress that Robert is the most reliable, trustworthy and honest guy I've met in the industry. His pricing may not always be the lowest, but it is always fair and the quality of his work and the value of his word and what he's willing to stand behind are more than commensurate with his pricing. Most recently, the front lip of my low-to-the-ground car was cracked due to no real fault of his, but he happened to be moving the car in the shop premises. He felt so bad that he refused to charge me anything for the (service) work that he had done on switching out my tires and wheels to another set. I didn't think he needed to, but he insisted. I went to Robert's to install new Pirelli tires on my vintage car. I called to order the tires I wanted, but he couldn't get them, so I ordered online and brought them to mount at Robert's. The shop damaged one of the tires in mounting and unfortunately refused to take responsibility. The tire was overinflated when fit to the wheel and burst through the metal band and the entire side - quite unsafe, glad it broke at the shop before mounting on the car, could have been quite a disaster. Neither Robert's nor the manufacturer would take responsibility, I had to pay for a replacement tire out of pocket. Tires are a safety item, it's all well and good when things go smoothly, and indeed, sometimes things don't go smoothly - but it is very disappointing when a shop refuses to make their mistakes right, especially when that work is safety related.
