Dude. This place is the freaking spot to go for lunch! The breaded pork chop is hands down my favorite thing on the menu. The portions are massive and the atmosphere is pretty chill. The only thing that keeps it from 5 starts is the dinner pricing. But if you insist on going for dinner, you'll still get amazing food. read more

We came at lunch, early, on Saturday, 02/01/2020. The building is not marked as Robke's. Parking was a challenge even though the restaurant was less than half-full. We were seated with an older, tall waiter who was clearly unmotivated. Menus were presented and he seemed genuinely annoyed that we asked if items not priced were part of the attractive $14.95 lunch specials. In hindsight, we should have dropped the menus on the table and left at that moment. Bread as the opener was practically inedible; it was sliced, thrown into a hot oven and allowed to sit on the rack long enough that it was burned around the edges, darkly grill-marked, and dried hard. It had virtually no flavor (F). Fried fresh mozzarella, recommended by the online dining group, with alla vodka sauce as a side instead of marinara, arrived very darkly browned and swimming in oil. The vodka sauce was runny, bland and served nearly cold; completely unappetizing. The mozzarella itself was bland and undersalted. We barely finished one of the two pieces (D-). The waiter boxed and bagged the remaining slice immediately and brusquely returned it to our very small two-top, where it sat in the way for the remainder of the meal. Rude. When the entrees arrived, the filet of sole Francaise was a very large portion, a good deal for the $14.95 price. It was buttery and lemony, but not adequately salted (B+). While salt was on the table, pepper was not; peppermills were clearly placed in a central location in the dining room but never offered. My dining companion's Salmon Piccata was not quite as generous a portion, but very well cooked with a beautiful braise on the surface; but the sauce was so caper-heavy, it was unpleasantly tart, spoiling an otherwise good piece of fish (C-). I asked for a refill of my ice water early on in the meal but it wasn't served and I was eventually forced to ask a different server for it ten minutes later. The passive-aggressive service was as much a contributor to our dissatisfaction as the very average food. Clearly, the other waitstaff were engaging other patrons and were happy to be working there. Ours was as sour as the piccata sauce. Reviewing pricing for the evening dishes on the chalkboard in the dining room, we both remarked that we would never pay those prices for the food we had just eaten. And don't come without cash to pay for your meal, because they don't accept anything but cash. While not a deal-breaker, it's an inconvenience that you should be aware of. There are so many places on Long Island to enjoy truly excellent Italian food...Butera's, Sempre Vivolo and Il Vizio just to name a few. So for the bad bread, the bland and overfried mozzarella, the wide variance in entree quality, and the absolutely inexcusable service, Robke's is a D overall, and we have no reason to return. read more

First time went, waited a long time (30-40 minutes) but gave it the benefit of the doubt because they were busy. This time, absolutely unacceptable. We were a party of 14 who were told we would be seated at 7:30. It was now 8:50 and still not sitting, waiting outside the restaurant in the freezing cold because the inside you couldn't even make it through the door. Everyone was packed like sardines. By 8:55 we saw them take ANOTHER TABLE of 12 saying they were there first which was absolutely not true because here we we're waiting for over an hour. After threatening to leave, they sat us near the table of 12. I happened to look over, and immediately they were given a waiter who threw in their appetizers/drinks asap because of the "wait". I always love Robkes and have never had a bad meal. However their carbonara was a no go. It looked very brothy and tasted like ramen noodles. It was disappointing but I honestly think it was an off day being that this has never happened to me before. Other than that, I love it here. read more

As soon as you walk in the door, you feel the atmosphere and you immediately smile. We figured we will go in the middle of the week, because we heard it can get crowded. . Let me tell you - the place was packed to the max, but we only had to wait 10 minutes. To me that's a sign of a good restaurant. I opted to have chef serve me whatever he chose. I do that in restaurants that I go to the first time. Started with a glass of Pinot Grigio, bread and butter on the table. Bread was lightly chard over flame which I LOVE! But I only had a tiny bite 'cause I could just eat this bread and be happy... followed by two apt - we had the fried Capelini cakes and the spicy rigatoni Vodka. I have to tell you guys - I took one bite of the rigatoni, I closed my eyes - and if I tell you that this was one of the best bites of pasta I ever had - I would not be exaggerating. It was a PERFECT bite: Pasta done right, not too soft, not to al dente - just perfect. The red sauce was so full of flavor- creamy in texture , but I didn't taste any cream just sauce. It wasn't heavy or oily. It was a bit spicy (which I loved) at just the right amount! So much flavor! My daughter who doesn't like red sauce fell in love with this dish (OMG I never thought I would hear her say that on Italian red sauce)! The delicate fried capelini were perfect choice to have alongside with the robust rigatoni. The flavor was quiet on the inside, the softness of the noodles against the perfect crust sitting in a bed of red sauce that complimented its delicate texture. You can have as much or as little of the sauce - which I think is a wonderful way to serve this dish. We also had the Caesar Salad which was very good. A bit heavy on the dressing - but then again its a matter of taste. Some like more some less. The dressing itself was very good. For the main course My daughter ordered the Chicken Milanese, which was excellent! Chef chose for me the Pork Chop Martini with cherry peppers ( I think that what its called). Now here is why I like to have chef choose for me: this is a dish I would never order off a menu myself because Pork is my lease favorite meat ( I rarely eat it or cook it), but this dish was EXCELLENT and I enjoyed it so much! It was tender like butter! I dont know how it compares but a mark of a good dish is - when you end up falling in love with a dish you don't normally like. Daughter tasted it too and liked it very much, so we split our dishes so that we each can enjoy both. I cant forget the sides of spinach - and the potatoes that came with the dishes. Very very good.   The portions we had were very generous as well, the ingredients are of high quality - the cheese was good, the meats were great, the tomatoes tasty.. you can tell they care about what they put on the plate.   And service - Top notch. Jake, our server, was very friendly, knowledgeable, stayed on top of everything and made sure our dining experience was very pleasant. I have to say, I observed that they all work as a team, they help each other. If someone caught my eye they came right away, even if we weren't their table. I respect that a lot. Even though the place was busy - they were all working the floor with a smile on their face, calm, professional, polite. Big plus in my book!   We finished our meal with the chocolate mouse cake. Heard great things about this place...not sure why. Food was mediocre at best. I will say they make killer macaroni and cheese, but the steak was very tough and chewy and lacked flavor. Our waiter was MIA for at least a half hour after we finished our meal. We really wanted to order dessert, but were never given the option. Finally my husband got up to try and find our waiter, and another waiter told him he went home and asked if we were looking for the check?? So unprofessional to just disappear and leave! Family owned which I love and everyone is so friendly - best crew! Louie, Mike, Brad, Narissa. They have the best specials, you don't even need to order off the menu. Italian spring rolls are the best special app! Also the stuffed peppers. Food is absolute perfection! Love the vibe here. And have a martini - they have a machine that chills the glasses. The handle is usually hot but not like this, no big deal another waiter apologized. Ordered the chicken parm off the Lunch menu, great choices, but went with the parm. NO exaggeration it came in 1 min. Why? I think it could've been delicious, but they gave me a old dish... it was warm and def had been sitting. I guess the regulars get the fresh plates. Ordered the cheesecake and espresso, it was good, can't screw that up. Cheese cake was not visually anything... just cake on a plate, maybe the regulars get decorated. I asked for the check... i didn't check YELP or else I would've been informed, the establishment doesn't take credit card or debit cards, not annoyed yet, i asked where does it say that... the guy says we've been doing this for 100 years. Guess you need to be a regular to know that. NO problem, where is the ATM? Across the street at Stop-N-Shop... fckin really? It's pouring outside, i mean pouring rain and the roads are flooding. Here i go, now annoyed to walk to an ATM across the street in the pouring rain, now I'm annoyed. I came back everyone seems to be apologizing, i guess they are regulars that know.... Visited this restaurant on 12/27/23 was my fourth visit had never had a complaint. But today was different we arrived at 2:52 no one waiting we were totally avoided. My husband and i stopped in here for lunch today and boy did It not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the fried mozzarella and the cappellini cakes and both were crispy and the sauces were excellent. Food came out very quickly and servers were attentive and also let you relax and eat. Then we had the penne with chicken cutlet in the vodka sauce and the Robke's Mac and cheese with sliced steak. That Mac and cheese is one of the best I've ever had. This is the last time I will go to Robke's!!!! The service is terrible!!! The host seated us within 10 minutes of arriving and handed us our menu to look over. We sat there for over 20 minutes without water before our waiter came over and asked if there was anything we wanted to drink. It took another 15 minutes before our drinks arrived. Our waiter quickly gave us our drinks and ran off before we could order appetizers. We were ignored for another 1/2 hour and finally he came over for us to order our appetizers and dinner. My husband also ordered another beer, but it was never delivered. When dinner was served I had to ask for water. He never asked us if we needed anything else. My daughter couldn't finish her dinner and asked for it be wrapped to go. We paid our bill and asked about my daughters leftovers and were told they were thrown away. They replaced it with full order and apologized. It was appreciated but our experience was so bad. I am not sure who to blame for the service. The owner was visible in the restaurant but never checked on the customers. He was around shaking hands and talking to "friends". Did he not notice that we were sitting there with nothing on our table for at least 20 minutes when we were first seated. Are they under staffed, are the waiters given to many tables and they are over whelmed? Shame on the owner, that is in restaurant not to addressing the issues. Obviously by other reviews on Yelp we are not the only customers experiencing the horrible service. I am sorry to say Robke's lost us as a customer. read more

From what I read, this is a longtime neighborhood Italian restaurant that has limited tables and loves CASH not credit cards. The most popular menu item I also read about was their fried mozzarella tower with vodka sauce. By the way, parking is a challenge since there is limited space. But since the restaurant does seem to provide large portions, a good long walk would be worthwhile prior to dinner. Even though we had reservations, we waited for an hour at the bar to be seated. Because of the long wait, our waiter Brad provided us with Baked Clams and Fried Calamari as appetizers. The baked clams were great. We were seated just opposite the bar in this very tight quartered restaurant. There is outside dining, but it happened to have been raining and only a few patrons that could not stand the wait for an indoor table were outside seated underneath the awning. Two of the members in our party ordered for dinner the Veal Chop Special This is all I heard "Never had Veal this tender from a restaurant" I ordered the Snapper and it was a generous portion and delicious. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food quality and large portions are worth the ride. There is no doubt that we will be return soon, but I will probably avoid a Friday or Saturday night since it seems always crowded then. And for good reason. read more

First time ever there, was excited to celebrate friend's 60th birthday. Bar was great for drinks. When seated for dinner in the outside tent 6 plus baby, we were seated at a table right by the door. The wind was blowing, door kept opening and slamming closed every few seconds. When stated to server John we were not comfortable his response was "what do you want me to do"? Did not care! Asked host if we can move down a little said yes then we were ghosted by him. Asked again with no care for our comfort. We had coats on ... it was bad! We had already placed dinner order. Family has been going here for years. Food is incredible. They give huge portions and the prices are reasonable. I was in there recently and felt very safe inside with the covid protocols being followed. One thing I'll never forget is when we had a reservation for thanksgiving dinner a few years ago we had to cancel because my grandfather had a heart attack (he did recover) and was in the hospital and Louie ended up sending food to my family on the house. They have expanded over the years to accommodate more customers because once you've eaten there, you want to go back for a delicious meal over and over again. Took a ride with my wife from Queens, based on high reviews . Food was ok . Reasonable. Server was nice . I had a few issues that will make me not return . Cash only !!! Not a sign anywhere to pre warn you . No where front doors ,menus ,walls . I was served sliced kaiser rolls for bread !!! See pictures.This is labeled as an Italian restaurant??? And you serve kaiser rolls ?? No straws,they do not offer them !!! That's a new one to me . The sign outside says Italian/ steaks , there's only 1 steak option on the menu .
