The place is bigger than it looks. There's plenty of tables inside and there's more in the adjacent patio area. I made a reservation online and it was easy to do. They also have some parking but not sure where else to park if it gets full since there's not that many parking spots. Went there on Tuesday (5/5/26) to celebrate my birthday. We walked in and were told we could sit anywhere since it wasn't busy. We ordered the Prickly Pear Martini (w/gin not vodka), Chicken Piccata and Chicken Parmigiana. They brought out their complimentary roll before the meal so we ate that first. Here are my thoughts on their food and drink. Dinner Roll: Toasty/crunchy shell but soft on the inside Prickly Pear Martini: Good Chicken Piccata: Saucy and delicious Chicken Parmigiana: Tasty. Just wish the chicken was smothered with the marinara sauce instead of just a dollop. It definitely could've used more sauce. The service was good. They don't check on you too often, but also not often enough. They asked if we wanted some more rolls but then never brought us more after we said we wanted more. The reservation system asked for the reason you're coming in but don't think they read/use that information because nobody that helped us brought up the birthday. Rocco's is a cozy casual Italian spot in the heights with fantastic prices and good food! Staff was nice and welcoming, felt like a true local hidden gem. Meatballs were great and loved the addition of ricotta. Both entrees were pretty big portions and felt comforting. Chicken parmigiana is paired with Alfredo that could use a bit more flavor but still a good bite. Chicken Piccata was rich, creamy, and very lemon forward. Overall, we will be back! My fiance and I went to Rocco's on a Monday afternoon to celebrate our anniversary. There was easy parking and a half off bottle special which sealed the deal for us. We started with cocktails, I enjoyed the prickly pear martini which was tart but slightly sweet. We were obsessed with the free bread you got with your meal. We got a salad, mozzarella fritti, and spinach and artichoke dip to start, everything was delicious. We split the vodka sauce rigatoni added sausage because the apps filled us up! We did save room for dessert for their mini cannolis, my fiance is not much of a cannoli person but even he heavily enjoyed them. Their happy hour is also a great deal. Service was fast and friendly. OMG! Where do I even start? My coworker and I came into town for one day work trip and we found this cute little place next to our hotel. While they did not have the soup that he was hoping for we got both got the chicken piccata, arugula and pear salad, and split the calamari. Everything was absolutely delicious. Not one bad thing came out. Everything was just amazing. And you must try the limoncello martini! It was perfectly balanced in flavor with a cute lemon twist. I've had ironically bland Italian food and overly salty at many Houston spots. I didn't find this issue with any of the dishes here. My friend recommended this place because she knows I'm a fiend for mules and they were so top tier. Well balanced and sweet. I ordered the tropical pizza which is mango and shrimp and it was definitely out of left field for me because I'm not an italian/pasta girl. Honestly, it was surprisingly good. We thought that meant seating would be limited, but it wasn't (there was just one large party that seemed to take up most parking spots). There's several tables inside and there's an outdoor patio as well. The space can get a bit loud since it's pretty small. It wasn't really an issue, but with the larger party there, moments were loud enough to pause our conversations Food/drinks: The espresso martini and the margarita were both amazing ! We also split a bottle of wine at the table. When we arrived, rolls were brought to the table and they were extremely flavorful and delicious! We also had the pasta with chicken - while the pasta was delicious, the chicken was a bit thin and chewy for me. For our table of 4, we split a large salad, the chicken pasta, and a pizza. It was the perfect amount! We then all split a tiramisu as well. Misc: The bathroom is back towards the kitchen. You almost feel like you're walking into the kitchen to go to it. They're going to have water at your table immediately, follow it up with fresh, hot rolls covered in olive oil and Parmesan. It's a great start! The wait staff are all very kind. I had dinner here a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday night while in the area. Yelp drew me here with its current 4.5 star average. There are parking spaces next to the restaurant but those fill up fast so after that it's street parking where you can find it. Rocco's has both covered outdoor and indoor dining and that early evening in August dictated me sitting inside for obvious reasons. When I walked in I could see that they were almost full in their moderate sized dining room that also had a small bar. This building looks like it used to be maybe an auto service store/garage? Not sure about that but immediately I could tell that this was a LOUD restaurant! The acoustics here are nil and I'm glad I was by myself because it would have been difficult to carry on a conversation without screaming. Anyway after being seated and presented the menu I chose the Chicken Marsala for $16. About 10 minutes later the meal arrived along with two complimentary bread rolls that had Parmesan cheese blanketed on top like heavy snow from a New England blizzard. The plate had a large piece of bird with mushrooms and the dark brown Marsala sauce over pasta. I must say this the sauce was very flavorful and one of the better ones that I have had recently. That made this plate of food very good tasting in my opinion and filling. Those crazy looking rolls with with all of that cheese on top were actually pretty good too but made me exceed my cheese quota for that day. I would order this meal again and my table service was attentive on a busy day for them. The waitress apologized about the noise and said Tuesdays were their slowest day and therefore quieter. Kiddo requested pasta so who are we do say no? Kidding we do that all the time. However with the internet out at home we figured let's get out. Handy dandy yelp led us to Rocco's. I'm used to hitting up the area for Mexican. Definitely will be visiting again. The bruschetta was great. The large salad portion was enough for the four of us to share. The garlic rolls fresh from the oven was a nice touch. I had the chicken parm which you could tell was fairly fresh decent size portion. The manicotti had a great amount of cheese. Overall we had a lot great food. My stepson had the kids pizza which was devoured before I could even ask to try. The small space was a nice relaxed feel which welcomed you back without trying. Rocco's is where it's at. I went here for a birthday dinner for my neighbors and it's so delicious and their cocktails are spot on. Pictured here is an amazing pasta dish called Cappellini San Marco. It has jumbo seared shrimp, spinach, tomatoes, capers with a pinot grigio sauce. The pasta was tender, shrimp was cooked perfectly, the spinach, tomatoes and capers accompanied the dish well. The sauce wasn't overpowering or overwhelming in flavor and it wasn't too rich, just perfect. By far one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. I also had Tom Collins, perfect drink for a refreshing evening. The service was great, they were polite and were very accommodating. We sat out on the patio but it was pleasant outside. Roccos is located in a neighborhood reminiscent to my own--historic and not gentrified, which honestly makes me like it even more. I sat outside on the patio. SUPERB!!! I am floored at how DELICIOUS and FRESH the food is here. We were warmly greeted and seated. Then met with the most delicious warm and toasty garlic bread. The cocktails were expertly crafted. My husband had the old fashioned (made with Bulleit btw!)The pasta dishes are extremely fresh, flavorful, and hot! First time and it won't be my last. We came here last night with friends before a concert at White Oak Music Hall. The location is great for a pre-concert meal. Everything about this place makes me want to go back and make sure this place gets more recognition. From the cozy interior to the nice patio, this small establishment is very nice and unpretentious. The food was excellent as well as the service. I'll admit I did some Yelp stalking in advance of our visit and nothing disappointed. We started with the scampi and bruschetta appetizers. The shrimp was cooked well and in a fantastic white wine sauce (5/5). The bruschetta was great! I have to say that pictures of this appetizer don't do it justice. The balance of tomato, basil, garlic and balsamic were a great combination. We couldn't stop eating it (5/5). It looks basic but it isn't. For entrees, we had the chicken parmigiana with fettuccine Alfredo (5/5). The pasta was the perfect al dente with one of the better Alfredo sauces I've had. The chicken was nicely prepared and the RED SAUCE, oh my. Just a damn good meal and the proportion was big. The couple with us split the same entree and I think they win since I had about half left. I felt bad leaving it but we were headed to a concert. My wife had the Capellini San Marco, which was a nice extension of the scampi appetizer. We think it had the same sauce with the addition of capers, spinach and mushrooms (5/5). The wine list is a good selection of mid-range wines from all the standard regions - Italy, Argentina, Napa, etc. We had a Sauvignon Blanc and Chianti that were both ~$30. Good value here. Overall, an excellent start to our night. We are already talking about hosting a birthday dinner here in the next month. A pleasant surprise for unpretentious Italian for dining on a budget! At first glance this place might not look like much - unassuming exterior and cheaper prices. However I honestly though this place was a neighborhood gem. My advice: have the right expectations going in! This is not some 5-star Italian place so don't expect the best pasta of your life. Rocco's is a gem! It was a perfect spot for a family of four to have dinner. The staff provided excellent service from the moment we walked in until we left. The fettuccine Alfredo was incredible, it has a nice creamy sauce with a buttery finish. My wife enjoyed the chicken Parmesan which looked as good as Nona used to make.
