Hands down our favorite pizza place in the area. We've been customers for decades. No one comes close to their crisp crust that has FLAVOR. Their sauce has the fruitiness of good quality EVOO, and fresh, not jarred garlic. My favorite is the baby eggplant. Unlike most places that do a clunky breaded and friend eggplant, here it is sweet and tender baby eggplant sliced paper thin and sautéed in garlic and EVOO. Haven't come back here since they changed their vodka bolognese sauce recipe and ripped me off for a large plain cheese pie years ago.. yet I'm still getting hounded by incessant spam text messages advertising for Rocco's. Stop sending me messages. I don't want your overpriced mediocre pizza. Your reign at being a "top local pizzeria is over" . Their Sicilian pie was always one of my favorites, I recommend it to many people. Ordered it the other night when I had company, really talked up the pie to my friends. It came out of the box undercooked and flatter than a grandma pie. I'm glad I also got the Rocco's special pie, which was great and saved the day. Got Too Good to Go here twice. First time, they had 5 boxes on top of the case and let us feel all of them but open none. I picked which felt the heaviest. Got 4 large specialty slice for $5 and it fed all four of us. It was 7/10 pizza, but it gets credit for the excellent value. Second time, the employee had not yet made the boxes, so he let us pick what we wanted from the plethora of remaining pizza and gave us 5 slices. We had 2 chicken parm slices (7.5/10), 1 Sicilian margherita (4.5/10), 1 grandma (9/10) and 1 regular margherita (4/10). The total regular price of these slices must be $20, so it is good pizza and incredible value. read more

Tried a few speciality slices but they were hot or miss. Some were good and some were subpar. 2 were very salty. The tomato sauce wasn't great either. There are much better pizza places on Long Island and in the St. James/Smithtown Area. Staff was friendly. read more

Stopped in for a couple of slices. First thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant was. The staff was very friendly and walked me through each type of pizza they had out. I chose their most popular eggplant Parmesan pizza along with a slice of the chicken Parmesan pizza. Really good flavor and not super floppy. read more

2024-4-25 The venue has a "newly constructed" ambience; modern and well lit. You don't go there for service, although they do have tables. You go there for the food. We had a Sicilian pizza and the pasta fagiol (soup). I didn't view the preparation except for the two pictures I took before it went into the oven. I watched them put the toppings on, but I could not tell whether the base was prebaked or baked in the oven with everything else. I'm supposing the latter. Brought it all home and ate the half cheese, half peppers and sausage and truly enjoyed the pie. It wasn't as greasy as it otherwise could've been which was a blessing. Also noticed that it was a little on the saucy side which tended to leak a little bit as you brought it home... Fingers got a little covered with it :) Crispy edges, relatively wet interior. The sauce is a little sweet and could be toned down a little. The pie was not overly thick and had a crispy bite and left room for other toppings Added some pepper flakes just to give it a touch of pizzazz. But not much. Just to offset the sweetness on the sauce. The pasta fagiol was quite good and we enjoyed it: the pasta and beans weren't overcooked and the seasoning balance was spot on. They said they made it there. I thought that even if it came from a can, it was very good. All in all, a happy find! I'd be happy to go back. read more

I asked for very light mozzarella and it looks like extra mozzarella (this is the 3rd time). Ordered 2 calzones and they were ice cold. I have them in the oven warming up. They cut open the top and added ham even though their description said Ham calzone. They don't care anymore and I am tired of wasting my hard earned money on their garbage!!!!! read more

This was our first time at this place and we had just been driving through town from Stonybrook. Cute place! Great food! We really loved the personal pizza for our son and the chicken francese was really good! The Rocco salad and the tortellini soup were delicious! However, as we sat and waited for our food, I didn't really like all the eating that was happening by the employees and the touching of masks and then touching of food. They need to be more conscious of this while managing people's food, especially now during these covid times. read more

Pizza I was looking for something quick to eat and happened upon Rocco's Pizza & Pasta. As I pulled up I see almost all the tables are taken both inside and out so I figure, this must be a decent place. The interior is newish looking - marble and chrome all around and a fairly busy counter area with 4-5 people humping it back there. I placed my order and took a look around as I waited for my food to be prepared. There is a decent sized display case with different pies and other goodies that can be heated and served- even rice balls... nice. I didn't go crazy as I wasn't starving - so just grabbed two slices with mushrooms and a bottle of water. Pizza was out in short order and I took a look at their menu as I ate. They have all the usual suspects available to order and they seemed to be doing a brisk take out business- always a good sign. The pizza was pretty good- not to think ot thick and just crunchy enough to let you know it was there. Sauce was good as well so overall a good meal. Prices were average. Parking in front. read more

I'm going to give Rocco's a 4 for their pizza because that's all I've had from there. Rocco's is pretty good for a slice or two up in St. James area but it's not the best slice I've ever had. The service is pretty good for the most part but sometimes the pizza can be a little lackluster at times yet other times it's awesome?! Go figure. Rocco's has something for everyone. From a salad slice to buffalo chicken slice to a piece with black olives on it. You name it I'm sure they have it. Had 'eggplant' slice & regular slice... Eggplant slice: Eggplant was fried in oil & that's it... making it unappealing and sort of like (for lack of a better word) 'slimy' while eating... Solution? Always bread-crumb it before it hits the pan... also sauce was not simmered long enough. regular slice & 'eggplant' slice had a 'stiff'' crust... so much so that doing the traditional 'pizza fold' caused it to crack apart (I'm not sure why it did this - i suspect dough ingredients but i'm not sure). Love getting Rocco's on my way home from the ferry. My Dad is obsessed with their sicilian pie which is great. I was craving eggplant rollatini the other day added it to my order and it was delicious. Their penne a la vodka was phenomenal and unique. Rocco's ordinarily Rocco' s has good pizza. For us last evening was an exception . As I began to eat our plain pizza I noted that it tasted strange. After a few more bits my wife an I realized that there was no sauce on the pie. I'm sure this was an accident. Unfortunately, because of other commitments I did not have time to return to the store. We were at a friends house recently and they ordered some pizza and salads for us for dinner. We were impressed so we decided to drive there a few days later and see what Rocco's was all about. When we walked in we took notice of a few things right off the bat. A huge selection of specialty pies, clean crisp place, and a large selection of specialty with whole wheat. After taking a few minutes to decided on ordering a bunch if specialty slices and split them all in half. Smart move because they were all delicious especially the whole wheat with almost everything including hot peppers. I would go back just for that slice. The young guido-ish dudes tending the front, is just a sign of the goood authentic grub that you're gonna be in for. This italian joint has some of the best pizza in the area, although the turnover rate ain't that great sometimes; the ingredients they use are never second rate. Their baby eggplant pizza is not to be missed, a thin crispy chewy crust, topped with thinly sliced baby eggplant that taste like it was just plucked from the garden, fresh mozzarella, and nonna's marinara sauce. Molto buona. Never had any gripes about the food when I've gotten take-out either. The selections of entrees are pretty typical chicken marsala, parmigiana dishes, soups, salads. We just bought the fish store down the block and while we were renovating we ate at Rocco's... EVERY NIGHT! Specialty pizzas were insane! Grandma Slices remind me of a little pizza shop in Brooklyn that I love. We had the crew at the shop late before our opening and had Rocco's make up a couple of trays of food. Came in around 8 or so for a quick slice. Thankfully it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, but it did fill up while we were eating. Debated getting 3 slices, but 2 was more than enough. I got the slices of both the spinach and ricotta and the chicken marsala pies. The spinach pie was a little bit garlicky, but overall wasn't bad. If I were you I'd definitely avoid the marsala pie. It looked pretty interesting, lots of chicken, but it was way too creamy for my liking. Pretty much your average NY Style Pizza joint. read more

Ordered a few pies for a family gathering this past Saturday. Outrageously good pizza. The crust is crispy and done just right. Had the lasagna pie, baby eggplant pie, and the white pie with spinach. I consider myself very picky when it comes to pizza, my favorites are mostly in NYC: Patsy's, John's, Two Boots... and also an incredible little dump called Pizza Town in Elmwood Park, NJ. I'll tell you, Rocco's in St. James has now made it to my short list of favorite pizza joints. As an added bonus, delivery on Saturday afternoon was way fast! Rocco's pizza was once the best pizza place in town sadly over the past 5-6 years they have fallen off. I'm not positive if it's due to the new ownership but their are multiple problems I have noticed. Number one is that when you walk I to the place and look at the people behind the counter get you notice not one person is wearing a pair of gloves. These are the same people that restock the drinks,take out the garbage but most importantly handle your food. Next is the delivery service, you're food is either a mess or cold and most of the time the delivery boy looks like he's under the influence of some type of drug. Found this place while passing through Saint James looking for a quick slice. I was impressed with the selection of specialty pies. The décor is updated but nothing too fancy and it is has maybe 6 or 7 tables. It was very clean and the staff was very polite and they hustled. The pizza was good enough for us to want to come back and try some other things and we have. Their sauces are very good and the entrees are tasty too. This place seems to be pretty popular, especially on a Friday night when the line was nearly out the door so order ahead. While you are there pop into Premier Bakery next door, say hello to Niko and take home a delicious pastry. read more
