    Valentine's Day special - strawberry
    Ciara L.

What a lovely spot! Came here for Valentine's Day with my mom LOLLL and they had a special menu. Made a reservation online and it was really easy to get seated after. Service was so friendly - great team of people there. Albeit it was Valentine's Day, but this place was poppin!! Not an empty seat in the house at 8:45pm and the bar area looked full too. Food was really great. Oysters tasted fresh. The portions were just right as well.

We walked into Rock and Rye with no reservations on a Tuesday late afternoon. I will say if there was a ramp for our stroller I would have given 5 stars. But to see no ramp in the front was odd. Otherwise, we had amazing happy hour drinks and small plates. We were blown away at the clean fresh oysters. They were the best without any toppings. Second favorite was the oyster Rockefeller (pictured). Not pictured were the fresh oysters, salmon dip, or poutine. Overall the place was quite spacious and clean.

Definitely go on a Sunday where their HH menu is all day. You'll get to try a lot of the menu on a discount. We did take our teens with us; unfortunately there was not much they could order. I wish they had included some chicken tenders. They did enjoy the fries, which was the only thing they could eat off the menu. Fresh oysters were great. Mussels were okay. The dipping broth could have been more flavorful with more garlic or butter? Taste like water down tomato soup. Tacos were great with lots of pork meat. Brussels were tasty with enough crispy to not be burnt. Service was good with various people helping out. Definitely a date night kind of place or group with adults.

Such a hidden gem! The oysters were incredibly fresh, the mussels full of flavor, and the tiger prawns juicy and delicious. After a long hike, this was the most satisfying dinner I could ask for. Thank you for the amazing food and cozy atmosphere!

This place is a nice place with professional people. They have a variety of food and it's out of the box with some recipes. They have the basics like a burger and fries, as well as more elevated items such as oysters and bacon brussels sprouts. The environment is old school and beautiful.

Rock & Rye is an awesome spot for food & drinks in Bellingham. It's in the historical Herald building in downtown Bellingham, with an industrial loft design on the inside. Like they say on their website, it's a good blend of fine dining & casual. The liquor selection is impressive, with an emphasis on whiskey. I had a glass of the Fremont Mischief Skagit Gold, a local rye. For food, I had a half dozen oysters and the mussels. The oysters were good, but the mussels were outstanding - plump, juicy, and flavorful. The only thing I'd want more of is bread to soak up all the delicious broth. I've also had the duck confit before (also tasty, but slightly different than what's on the current menu). Service was friendly - the bartenders were happy to share their favorite menu items.

First time to the new brunch sitting, and I was not disappointed! The shrimp and grits were tasty and the mimosa satisfying. Service was pleasant, the ambiance comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

If you are looking for incredible service, fresh oysters, and a super unique and eclectic venue, then this is the place for you. And if you don't like oysters, their menu is quite expensive for other offerings as well. They have good specials for happy hour and the handmaid cocktails are fantastic as well. A true, fantastic place

This place sets the Bellingham bar pretty high.. Settled in a historic building with high ceilings, exposed brick, historic maritime photo's lining the walls, and a beautifully romantic outdoor seating area. Seems they have most of the top-shelf goodies available at the bar, along with some very creative non-alcoholic cocktails. The food they serve is very special. Locally sourced, fresh and colorful dishes with seemingly heavy French influence. We shared oyster shooters with house vodka and cocktail sauce, oysters Rockefeller broiled with fresh spinach and pork belly, amazing beet gnocchi made with ricotta and fresh Cascadia mushrooms, and halibut that was perfectly cooked and melted away with a stunning French onion soubise sauce. As full as we were, we still had to try the chocolate torte with raspberry coulis which was basically a chocolate dream-come-true. This is my new favorite place to eat and drink. Excellent service. A very nice experience.

Came here for our 25th anniversary dinner. Graduated from WWU in 98 and 99. Super cool outside area. Waiter gave us complimentary bubbly. Had the halibut, and Shrimp and Polenta. Both were super good. Cocktails were excellent and good beer selection. Huge wine selection. Highly recommend.

We had a great family dinner here at Rock and Rye last Sunday. We are not local to the area so discovering their All Day Happy Hour (HH) on Sundays was an awesome find. The restaurant is easy to locate and street parking is available directly in front. I like that they take reservations via Yelp, even though it didn't work for me. I had to call in but we decided to show up right when they opened as well. There's no way we were going to miss HH oysters on our last night in Bellingham! The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. We ordered 3 dozen HH Judd Cove oysters, 1 dozen Samish Beauty oysters, HH beef carpaccio, HH brussel sprouts, fish & chips, and 3 (or 4?) orders of HH mussels. The customer service was also friendly and attentive. We definitely left with full bellies and smiles. I highly recommend EVERYTHING we ordered.

Best. Ever. Pork belly, house made hollandaise on their incredible biscuits! Love this place.

Yas! When I first moved to Bellingham 10 years ago this place had the BEST brunch. You can imagine my excitement to hear it is back! With my favorite bartender Dan V! I was able to bring friends to brunch this morning that have never eaten at rock n rye. They were thrilled with their food. 3 of us got the waffles and the 4th got the salmon Benedict. Everyone loved their food. The potatoes had the perfect amount of crunch. The waffles were cooked perfectly with just a slight sweetness. I was nervous about the chicken but it was breaded perfectly with a great crunch at the start and at the end. Now let's talk about the sausage gravy. HOLY yummness. I will be thinking about that gravy until I get to try it again. Soooooooo amazing. Of course the atmosphere was perfect. The staff was awesome and brunch was awesome. Don't miss out on this perfect Bellingham brunch spot. Saturday and Sundays starting at 10.

Each used n/a spirits (n/a mezcal in the latter) and a symphony of sophisticated ingredients, which wish I tell you what. Each had a speared dried citrus slice and a luscious ginger bite (or something!) a top. The first had included honey, but it wasn't sweet--just complexified with a little snap to it that the honey smoothed; the second was a little sweeter in tone, including a bit of huckleberry along with the mezcal. (Connor might recall them by my play name for them. Inspired by a book in my hand on collecting meteorites, I nicknamed the first the "Extraterrestrial Visitor" and the second the "Heavenly Visitor.") They were so delicious I suggested he put them on the menu. If he does or doesn't, no matter. Just ask him if he has time to get creative for you. He'll ask you flavor tone preferences, or you can just go for whatever he wants to make, like I did. Again, he is excellent. I enjoyed my lovely drinks with a Caesar salad (another OMG!) which included crispy bacon bits and loads of tiny shreds of a delicious white cheese along with a creamy dressing. It was scrumptious as was the very lovely charcuterie plate. Pistachios, green apple slices, fat outstanding Castelvetrano olives (caution: with pits), a luscious pepper jelly that went beautifully dipped into with their choice of excellent crackers, delicately flavored salami and a prosciutto so elegantly-flavored it could make you weep. And it was lovely enjoying it all on their "porch" on a sunny day.

It was close to our hotel, and has charming half-moon booths. Summary? Uninspired with potential.

For those who are looking for a date spot with unbeatable ambiance and gourmet cuisine, The Elk Street Tavern should be your next date night destination. As soon as we sat down at their beautiful bar, the waitress and bartender were both very attentive and friendly. We both ordered cocktails off their seasonal cocktail menu. I had the East of Eden which was smooth and refreshing, but its flavor did not overpower that subtle bite of the gin. My wife ordered the Dream Girl. The combination of banana, raspberry and coconut tied together with smooth rum was so good we could have ordered several more. Our food arrived in a timely manner. The Elk Street Burger was first up. Elegantly simple with just bacon, cheese and heap of pickles with a medium rare all beef patty in-between a soft sesame seed bun. I do wish that the burger came with a toothpick through the center to keep everything together. The taste and texture of this burger was fantastic, but the real star of this dish was the frites. These jojo style potatoes had a fried crust with a crunchy texture that was almost indescribable. They also came with Elk Street's house sauce that is a mixture of mayo, mustard and bbq that gave my food a tangy kick of flavor that I will not soon forget! I would also recommend asking for their house made garlic chive sauce. It is so good! My wife's Prawn Roll was fresh and light. Chunks of prawn mixed with lemon aioli, celery, and chives stuffed in-between a toasted brioche bun. A great choice for anyone who is a fan of lobster rolls and is looking for a lighter dish bursting with flavor. Lemon wedges to garnish and a small bowl of potato chips on the side, this dish was a ten out of ten. Elk Street Tavern has a great vibe for a dinner date, or if you are just looking to sip on great cocktail at a classy bar. I will definitely be coming back again.

Our waiter was great, super friendly and happy to go find answers for us when we asked questions. You could tell he actually cared. Hubby got the corned beef scramble and an orange juice and I got a coffee cocktail that was AMAZING. The best part was watching our server train the other staff on how to make my drink, so I got to lowkey eavesdrop on the whole process. Kinda fun! I also ordered a side of fruit and it was shockingly fresh, dragon fruit, orange, blueberries, like not sad hotel fruit at all. After my cocktail I wanted just a regular coffee and the server was awesome, he brought out coffee and fresh whipped cream and topped me off. Seriously such a small but amazing touch.
