My niece and I stayed in Tybee Island Halloween weekend. There were a few blocks of bars on the street leading to the pier. This is the first spot on the left if you are walking to the beach. This bar has two side, one side is a little more casual and college like. They had karaoke on Friday night. The other side was a little more club like and offered hookah and had a DJ. This side was pretty slow the night we were there. But, as a 40-something I preferred this side lol. I was promised by an employee at the door that if I tried the hookah I would get 50% off. That did not happen. And the flavors on the hookah menu were not all available and of course the one I wanted they didn't have in stock. Not sure why I was promised a discount, but I was disappointed I didn't receive it. Be cautious of false discount promises! My niece said it was a ploy to get us in the door spending money, and I think she was right! I ordered a pizza which was ok. It had a little too much cheese for my taste. But the marinara was good. All in all I was not impressed with this spot and it definitely was not the age group I would prefer to hang with lol. read more

We stopped here on what was supposed to be a beautiful day at the beach to get away from to dreary weather. It wasn't too crowded which was great for us. We sat down and were immediately greeted and our drink orders were taken. The bartender/server was pretty nice. He gave great meal suggestions, but I knew I wanted the shark tacos as soon as I saw them. They do not hold out on the dishes either. They give you a nice portion to make sure you leave nice and full. My only suggestion would be a shake or two more of seasoning on the tacos. But other than that, we left full and satisfied . read more

The food was nasty. The bartenders/staff were all sitting at the end of the bar gossiping and playing on their phones. The bartender we ended up with after the first one left, acted as if she was disgusted to be servings us. The drinks are outrageously priced. I wouldn't recommend going here at all. Decided to give them a try.even though it looked like a bar from the outside. We were wrong ! Well it is a bar but we got there at noon and it was excellent. The burger was huge and cooked exactly as my spouse ordered it medium, lots of crispy fries, I had the salmon sandwich , wow the salmon was cooked perfect. Crispy on the outside and moist and flaky in. I should have ordered the salad though as it was kinda difficult to keep together. Came with tomatoes Avocado, lettuce on toasted bread. Good thing we are on vacation or I would be back every weekend. Server was quick with drinks and water. This is a cool place, ambiance and vibe of rock and quirky with an arcade and a circle bar- cool photos and memorabilia- great bartender. It's a little messy but it's busy as hell. And I was worried to try food because yelp is astonishingly accurate- but after reading reviews and seeing the service was mostly the problem and knowing I was sitting at the bar I gave it a shot and had awesome alligator.. this place is worth it if your traveling or want a bit- it's at least worth a couple drinks read more

OK. One comes to Tybee for the beach, not for the culinary experience. We visited the Rock House three times. The first time we dined with a large party of thirteen and were easily accommodated. It was our first night on Tybee and the Rock House delivered. I loved the kitsch of the place and the truly retro 80s videos playing. Brought back memories. We tried both the blackened shrimp tacos and the mahi-mahi tacos. I don't know which one I liked best. Pretty darn delicious. If this were my only experience, I would give them three or even four stars. We returned for a cocktail and had some beers and the obligatory frozen island concoction. One time my drink was haphazardly delivered. The next time it was nicely rimmed and garnished. Still, may have been a three star experience here. We returned for a later dinner because they are one of the few places that has the kitchen open late (or early depending on your perspective---3 a.m.) It was about 8:30 on a Friday night and we should have known better. The tables inside are removed after a certain time in the evening and we were relegated to eating outside on the sidewalk. Not only did we have to dodge tipsy revelers, we had to deal with a surly waitress that didn't want to have to come outside. She was pretty sarcastic with one of our teenagers in our group and we had to ask a couple of times just to get our table wiped off. The food was terrible. Burnt burgers and luke warm fries. So this was about a third choice for dinner, pier 16 was a 2 hour wait so this was right across the street. Half the restaurant wasn't "open" despite it being available I didn't quite understand that hostess/waitress discussion but with a small delay we were sat with no silverware. Since it looked like it would be awhile I ordered the new special tybee lemonade at the bar. The bartender had to look up how to make it. She then watered it down when she had a space at the top of the flute glass. I thought this was island living and more alcohol was in order but cest la vie. This process took 8-9 minutes and I returned to our table to find everyone had not even had their drink orders taken. Finally we waived down Danielle who was most certainly high. Oysters? Out of them. Oranges for my blue moon? Out. Crayons for the kids menus? Out. Tybee blonde Pilsner? Oh we have that.... But no, turns out they're out. Expect to hear we are out of that A LOT. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here and I definitely won't be back. Don't waste your money paying for a bland and mediocre meal. I came in tonight after originally wanting to eat at the Pier 16 restaurant across the street (they turned us away and said they were only taking reservations and said this place had the same menu) I said okay whatever and walked over here. First I'll start by saying that I went to use their restroom and they were filthy and no paper towels were present to dry your hands with. I ordered the Calamari n Chips because it was a couple dollars more than the appetizer and I wanted calamari. Their menu states this entree was suppose to be served with fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw (important for later). Our server took our drink orders and we put in for entrees. The water here is god awful like it is at most beaches. Our entrees came and I noticed I didn't have hushpuppies after digging through the mound of unseasoned French fries. Waiter came over to ask how our meal was and I told him I thought the entree was suppose to come with hushpuppies but there weren't any and informed him that I don't eat coleslaw and asked him if I could have the hushpuppies instead. He said that I couldn't substitute coleslaw for hushpuppies and walked off without offering another alternative or asking if there was something else I would like instead. I have been to many seafood restaurants in my lifetime and I have never ever heard that you couldn't substitute coleslaw out for hushpuppies. I had to pull up the menu on my phone and call him back over to the table to show him that the meal said it's to be served with "fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw". He stated he would go and "check on this" for us and came back to the table saying they were out of hushpuppies for the night. Again presented no alternatives. At this point I'm pissed off because that should've been stated when we ordered entrees and also because of the way I was told I couldn't change my coleslaw as he walked away with no other solution. The calamari was not good to me, I've had better. The fries were unseasoned, they didn't even have salt. I didn't try the coleslaw. I didn't finish any part of this meal. I didn't even bother to l ask for more sauce for my calamari because I didn't feel like dealing with this server any longer. I tried my friends coconut shrimp and that was the only thing from this meal that was finished from either of our plates. You know it's bad when you finished less than half your meal and don't ask for a togo box. Won't be returning here and should have followed my first mind to just go home after the first restaurant turned us away. Probably won't ever be visiting Pier 16 either because they spoke as if this was their sister restaurant since it was stated they had the same menu. If their food was anything like it was here it will be a waste of money too. If you like unseasoned meals that you have to use salt & pepper and various sauces on to make edible then this is the place for you. read more

Service was terrible not sure why we got poor service. Our server Eric was very unprofessional and ingnored our table countless of times when he only had 3 tables in total. The Rock House is one block off of Tybee Beach. The whole "downtown" area of Tybee is dated as is the Rock House. This is situated in the right spot to be a decent spot to have a few cocktails. I think most anyone passing through the door can immediately sense that the Rock House is a tavern first and a place that serves food second. I was here during an afternoon visit and enjoyed the bar with a very large screen TV for watching sporting events. There's a stage inside and I bet this place is a rocking good time during the night time summer tourist season. I was under no illusion I would get a great dining experience here. If a fun bar experience is what you're after, here's your stop. If a meal experience is what you seek, my thoughts are you can find many alternatives on the island. read more

We ordered over the phone and the food was ready when we arrived. The Seafood Sampler included one cluster of crab legs, two corns, and a lot of potatoes, shrimp and sausages. It wasn't seasoned how I'd liked it to be, the butter was literally melted butter, no seasoning or anything. The crab meat did taste fresh which was good for me. Potatoes weren't soggy, sausages were cooked to perfection and we ordered the lemon pepper wings too and they were delicious surprisingly. We ordered them extra crispy. Overall I rate the wings the most recommended of the seafood. read more

Came here for drinks and some wing... boy was it a mess!!! Terrible experience and the service wasn't much better. We ordered drinks, they were great. For food we ordered 2 side salads to start and 12 wings. It was about 8pm, not busy at all. We waited about 20ish minutes which was fine and watched the food runner walk by with our salads and our wings as he went to the wrong table and put the food down. The couple let him know that it was the wrong table so he took it back to the kitchen, our server came out to let us know it was messed up so they were remaking it. We got our salads and our server disappeared... in the next 40 minutes we still had not gotten our wings but we had 2 different ordered brought to our table that wasn't our food... still no server in sight, we had to get more drinks from another server. Then our server came back to see we still didn't have our wings, the manager was aware of the situation from what we told him and what our server told him. We see our wings coming and the food runner brings them to the WRONG TABLE AGAIN! That guy started eating them so here we were waiting again!!! Then then the manager comes and says "I'm going to make this right" then brings us wings and it's only 6, not 12.... Finally after well over an hour we got our wings, which were great but the process was awful. Then to make it even better we didn't even have one drink comped he said "I'll make this right" then acted like he didn't have a clue what was going one. We asked to pay and we handed the handed the handheld to close out at the table and the server walked away. I had to go to my table and figure out how to close out.... Please read all of this. We ordered online for pick up. Said to be there at 6:50 pm. I walked through the door at 6:55 and asked I was there to pick up order 41as the text I got said to. Well, 7:30 and the food was good but not right. I'm not blaming the staff. Let me explain. They were busy, 1 person was bussing tables and sitting people. There were 3 wait staff and 1 bartender. I did see a gentleman with a black polo 1 time and he must have been the manager? The bartender, McKenna, was having to go around and get glasses off of tables to make drinks and was also running to the back to grab and deliver food to tables. McKenna was the one that, after the "Manager" said my food would be right out at 7:10, was the one that found my order and brought it. The food was good, really. This place could be awesome if it had more staff and supplies (and maybe decent management). The staff I did see was working hard and doing the best they could. read more
