What the actual ****.... WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO FIND THIS PLACE! Located right near 290 and Barker Cypress, this hot sushi spot has everything one is looking for. This Rock n Roll themed sushi restaurant houses guitars lining the walls to 80s and 90s rock n roll music playing throughout your visit. Just by luck, I followed my foodie instincts one night, and it led me right to this little hidden gem connected to the HEB strip center. It's hard to spot, but it's on the side facing Barker Cypress. There was no wait and was seated right away around 730 on a Thursday. I ordered their pear sake and miso soup to begin. Then I ordered the crowd surfer roll. EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT. From their crisp pear sake to the spicy tuna in their roll that just melted in my mouth. Loved every minute of my visit at this place. The theme, the sushi, the sake, and more.. you can't go wrong. As I state after every review of a favorite hidden gem that I find... UNTIL NEXT TIME!

    This one was good.

Went in today Friday at around 1:45 for a late lunch. The place has a very laid back Hard Rock Cafe type of vibe to it. Think of a rock diner/biker garage feel. Attention to detail is certainly there, if you take the time to look. The menus are record sleeves and that was a little hint of coolness. Service is great, sushi is fresh but in my opinion the Rocktails need a bit of tweaking. It was only 2 of us but we wanted to try 3 of the cocktails. We ordered the Girls, Girls, Girls (we didn't even drink it at all because after tasting it, It tasted like a super sweet Capri Sun) the other 2 were decent in taste. 1 was I kissed a girl (I think) and something about make you wanna shout tini (can't remember the names exactly but if you look for those on the menu you can pinpoint which ones they are. They do have a full bar so next time I visit, I will probably stay clear of their cocktail menu and just order my own drink, besides, the drinks are not cute or anything if that's what you're looking for lol. I look for taste! CRISPY WONTONS- These little crispy triangles filled with the crabmeat, cream cheese, green onion and jalapeño filling, then fried to a golden perfection are so addicting. Not spicy but you can sense the slight taste of the jalapeño's presence. Highly recommend! VIP ROLL- My favorite one of the 3 we tried. We got ours fried. This roll sounds like it has a lot going on in the menu but it was so worth it. Crispy, full of flavor and just all out delicious. CROWD SURFER ROLL- Just ok in my opinion. The shrimp tempura on the inside was a tad bit soggy so it took away from that crunch that you would expect. But the taste was good, just the texture threw me off. TOUR BUS ROLL- (Baked) Very interesting Roll. My friend loved it the most and for me it was the least liked. I would probably buy it again only because I am not used to baked rolls so it threw me for a loop. Maybe if our fillet mignon on top was a little less cooked, it would have made a difference, but ours was over cooked and a bit tougher than originally expected. I did like the vibe, most of the food and the clean restrooms! Rocking out on the multiple big screens on the walls were classics from the 70's and 80's (while we were there)

Chicken Fried Rice: excellent price & portion of your on a budget.

Ordered via delivery service. I have a shell fish allergy and was worried I wouldn't find anything great on the menu.

I took my 2 year old here for a date night. She loved the food and so did I. The server was so nice and attentive. I would recommend for a date night or even to take your kids. I had the hibachi backstage grill hibachi trio it was so yummy. I also had the British invasion roll, it wasn't my favorite but it was still good. I think I'm not a fan of cream cheese in my sushi. So it's a me thing.

Service was great - very attentive. Food was good but the fish seemed to be dried out. Update, I was contacted by the manager. Classy!

This place is not only cool inside but super fresh & tasty sushi. Andrea was the best waitress ever!! We loved the vibe but better yet loved the food. It tasted so fresh and delicious. The prices were fair and the rolls were actually very thick and nicely sized. I'm basic and usually get the shaggy dog roll at other sushi shops. Here at this one it's called Metalhead. It was so good. We also really enjoyed the fried rice. Very light and tasty. Highly recommend this place!

This was really good! Ingredients are really fresh. Even the kids chicken nuggets had identifiable fried chicken meat. This place should be standing room only, but I guess no one has tried it yet. The service was good and the food came out quickly. There's a bit of nostalgia listening and watching the rock music videos I forgot about. Seriously still can't believe more people weren't here to pack this place out.

Good service, not good sushi. If you like real sushi, go elsewhere. It tasted like it was prepackaged. Cold rice. Poor selection. Avoid.

Restaurant tried too hard to make the food look modern, and lacked taste. The portions were good, but the dishes were not that great.

All three rolls tasted great and had their own distinct flavor profile. The chicken dish was not my favorite, but came out piping hot, which was perfect! The spicy edamame appetizer I didn't care for very much, as I prefer them to be tossed in a chili oil instead of siracha sauce. Great decor that fits the restaurants vibe, service was friendly and timely, and the food hit the spot. We left feeling very full :)

Great spot in the Cypress area!…read more The food was great! I don't think I had anything that I didn't like. I tried a few of my wife's sushi, chicken skewers, and some kind of dumplings she ordered, and I had the sizzling bulgogi kimchi plate. My plate came with a salad, which I wish came in a slightly bigger bowl, as it was starting to fall out. The bulgogi kimchi plate was delicious. There was a good amount of beef, and the crispy--possibly garlic or onions on top was a great addition. The amount of food on the plate was just right. I couldn't give it a full 5 stars because the service was only good when the server was actually there. I think there were 2, maybe 3 servers, with the restaurant about 70% full. We took some extra time to order, but it also took a while for someone to come back and take our order. It took a while to get a refill, and there were noticeable delays whenever we needed a server. The sushi had way too much sauce on it. It was overpowering the taste of the fish. Check the pic.

I usually get the hibachi chicken, and it is always flavorful, filling, and reasonably priced. The restaurant has a smaller, more intimate atmosphere, which I enjoy. Figured it would be too late for dinner after the show so I went before and am glad that I did! Easy to find on the east side of the outlet mall and right off of the old Hempstead Highway, now 290. I was there at 5:30 and only a few people inside dining or having a drink. My server was Everado and he was great. I ordered a glass of the Imagery Pinot Noir. I was in real luck as it was Happy Hour with some great discount prices on several of their appetizers, sushi and sashimi. I decided to try the soft shell crab appetizer and it came out so quickly. It was crispy and super fresh, perfectly paired with the wine I had ordered. I love Japanese restaurants like this, especially when they aren't supper busy. You can take your time, order a thing or two and peruse the menu and pick something else at your leisure. My next treat was one of their "signature appetizers" and it was great, what was described on the menu as a tuna and salmon martini! Wow, it tasted as good as it looked and not only had fresh sashimi slices of tuna and salmon but also meaty escolar. In the center was a creamy mix of wasabi, ginger topped with some tobiko, the small orange fish roe. Talk about a real culinary treat! Next up was a special house roll called the Pink Lover Roll which was a roll with chopped spicy salmon, tuna, yellow tail, tempura jalapeno and avocado with spicy mayo, eel sauce and honey wasabi. The portion was huge and really could have fed 2 people. I enjoyed it but found the sauces over the top a bit too much. It was spice but not too hot. Glad I tried it but would opt for something different next time and surely not as large! Last thing ordered was the Hibachi Combo Yakisoba dinner entree. Had it not been for the large previous roll I ate I would have devoured this as it was fresh off the hibachi grill and full of shrimp and beef as well as a lively assortment of crisp vegetables. It came with a pleasant miso soup, the perfect thing between courses. Alas, I ended up taking half of my yakisoba home for a future lunch. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very clean and sharp. You can sit at at table, booth or at the bar, I chose a table. Restrooms were clean and easy to find. In the end my lovely dinner was just under $100 plus a 20% tip for great service so not a place you might go to casually in regard to cost but still worth the trip as everything was fresh and well presented.
