Sticky ribs and house green salad
    Catherine P.

I was lucky enough to attend a business dinner at Morimoto. We had a private room off the lanai that allowed us to see the ocean and sunset from our space. The large dinning table easily fit 20 people. We had a prefix menu that was served family style. Course 1: house green salad, sticky ribs, and fish carpaccio Course 2: roast duck tacos, steamed pork dumplings, and spicy chicken wonton Course 3: house fried rice and garlic green beans Course 4: grilled miso black cod, grilled kalbi, and orange chicken Dessert: malasadas Everything was great and easily pleased most eaters. I really enjoyed how light the salad was. The steamed pork dumplings and spicy chicken wonton were similar appetizers. I'm not sure if there was a list of options or just these. I didn't think I would like the malasadas but with the whipped coconut cream it was amazing! Service in the private room was great! We had our own area that we could be loud but it also opened to the street so there were added noises from there. The space was big enough to allow mingling around the table. Parking is at the Alohilani resort and there is a valet service. But there is also a self parking option that morimoto will validate both.

I WISH I COULD GIVE MORE STARS!!!! WORTH THE PRICE! FOOD AND SERVICE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Okay seriously, I've been to a ton of expensive high end restaurants and none have impressed me like this Morimoto's. When I tell you everything that came out was amazing.... Holy moly it was SO TASTY. EVERYTHING! I was even impressed with the fried rice with how much they served and how much was in it. I personally loved the fish carpaccio, rib eye, hamachi kama, wok vegetables and malasadas for dessert. The orange chicken was my least favorite but it was still good. Oh and the STICKY RIBS...... you HAVE to get them. So crispy yet tender.... I loved how everything we had bursted in my mouth with flavor and was something I couldn't make to that level at home. Service was amazing like any other fine dining restaurant, but for the first time, I felt like this one was worth the money for how good the food was. I will definitely be back!

We had dinner last night at Iron Chef Morimoto Asia Restaurant in Waikiki Honolulu! This gentleman is a Michelin Star Chef for a very good reason, his standards are impeccable and his food is both innovative, ascetically pleasing and absolutely delicious! The prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food offered. We started out with the House Greens for $17. This is a large portion and certainly enough to share. It was dressed perfectly with a wonderful Yazu Vinaigrette. We also tried the Sticky Ribs and they were the STAR of our dinner. They were crispy on the outside and so tender and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed them. We also tried the Pork Gyoza. It was served with an incredible Ginger Scallion sauce that turned an otherwise ordinary pork gyoza into an extraordinary masterpiece in culinary perfection. We continued the sharing theme with the Black Pepper Beef, consisting of Fillet of Beef, Bell Pepper, Onion, Mushroom and a Black Pepper Sauce that tied everything together incredibly well. We sat at the bar and chatted with both bartenders. They were very helpful with menu questions and suggestions. They also helped my Wife navigate through the many choices for Sake and helped her settle on one that was truly unique and delicious. We had a wonderful evening here and I highly recommend checking out this amazing restaurant in Waikīkī Beach, Honolulu Hawaii!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Went here for happy hour (5-6 p.m. daily). It was pretty quiet when we arrived around 5:30, so we were able to sit at the bar counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender handled both food and drink orders, making everything quick and easy. I had the Aloha Rum Punch and Lemon Chu-Hi. I especially liked the punch -- it was moderately strong and not too sweet. The Chu-Hi was pretty good as well. We shared several dishes: Chashu Pork Quesadilla, Morimoto Spreads, Fried Baby Octopus, and KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). My favorite was the quesadilla -- the chashu was soft, flavorful, and delicious. I also enjoyed the octopus, which was tender and not greasy. The spreads and chicken were okay. Overall, it was a great happy hour experience, and I'd love to come back for dinner sometime.

My family and I came here one of the nights we vacationed in Waikiki. We have been to Morimoto probably about 10 years ago and I remember enjoying it a lot. It's definitely more upscale and nicer than most restaurants I typically go to, so pricier, but it's worth it. Food was excellent. We really enjoyed the sticky ribs and miso black cod. Everything else we ordered was delicious but weren't too memorable in my opinion. I grew up eating roast duck so it was still good, but it wasn't special for anything I've had before. The desserts were fun. I don't remember much about the chocolate ball we got, but it was quite a show. My niece and nephew really enjoyed it so I didn't get to taste it much haha. I really enjoyed the ube cake we got though. Service was also great. They were quick and knowledgeable about the menu. I believe the garlic noodles wasnt an official menu item but the server offered it for the kids. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is great. We got there pretty early since our reservation was around 4:30/4:45. But the time we left - around 6:20/30, there was a good amount of people seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would recommend reservations if possible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great ambiance for a fancier date night or family celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely love to come again.

I have been trying to go to Morimotos all year long in the many places I've been that had one, but haven't been able to. My wonderful husband begrudgingly went with me on our vacation - I wanted to try the duck which he had no interest in. But, alas - he agreed - and what a wonderful dinner it was! And reasonable too! We split a half duck, fried rice and chicken spicy dumplings. Everything was AMAZING- iron chef Now, to enjoy the rest of the week and resist the urge to come back again and again! This trip has been lovely and my hope is this is the first of many here and that this is a repeat stop for us

Dinner in Honolulu at Morimoto Asia Waikiki, an upscale Pan-Asian restaurant by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Here I'm getting served one of his signature dishes..... Ishiyaki Buri Bop, Hamachi seared tableside (inside the hot bowl), pickled daikon, spinach, carrot, royal fern, egg yolk, sweet ginger soy, yuzu kosho, while Dianne enjoys Hamachi Kama. So many wonderful dishes we could have also enjoyed.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Trendy Asian fusion on the main strip of Waikiki beach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Took a long time for our server to take our drink order and took even longer to get the drinks. Appetizers came out before the drinks. Food was really good though. Everything had a serious depth of flavors. Duck was tender and moist.

I stay at the hotel and Morimoto is at the second floor. My reservation is at the opening time at 5PM. so while waiting to go to dining area at the bar is busy and not enough staff to take care of the customers. I wish to have a drink before I go in, but it didn't happen. server is professional and polite. I actually look at the menu before I come and lots of interesting fusion in the menu. We have Sticky Ribs and Hamachi Taco for start. Grilled Kalbi and A-5 Surf Turf roll. Surf Turf is nice presentation and Miyazaki wagyu is very good. If you want to have a fancy dinner, Morimoto is a wonderful choice for special day.

We sampled basically the entire happy hour menu - 4 dishes and 3 cocktails. All $9, so a pretty good deal. I most enjoyed the herby/garlicky baguette and the chashu quesadilla. Service could have been a little more attentive.

Exec summary: EAT HERE! Pro tip 1: valet park. We tried self park but it was full. They comp 3 hours at valet. Pro tip 2: reservations. Book via open table far enough in advance. Dont wait until the last minute Details: food Outstanding! Chef morimoto does not disappoint. I could barely grab any images of the plates since the family devoured them with gusto Hot and sour soup: amazing ! Best I've ever had Miso black cod : order this dish. Outstanding ! Duck: thank you for "deboning" , yes it's not as authentic but it is so much easier to eat and it's delicious Ishiyaki- made table side. Great fun to watch Matcha martini - how fun. What a great twist in a classic Service: absolutely fantastic It was Mother's Day and one of our dishes got lost in the mix. The head waiter came out , apologized on behalf of the chef and sent over some comp sake. Class act Ambiance : love it. The only downside is that the chair vs the table height is a bit off for my size. I felt like I was at the "kids table "

Tasty food but sassy service. All of the food service was good except for our head server. He gave us a lot of sass and I overheard most in my group of 15 talking about being annoyed all evening by his antics. My favorites were the sticky ribs (omg the flavor!), the spicy chicken wontons (save the spicy oil to spruce up any bland dishes later), and the roasted duck. For mocktails, I loved the sunset cooler which was so refreshing. Best if you enjoy this beverage with a view of the sunset too!

If you're looking for an elevated dining experience at Morimoto's, make your way upstairs to the second floor--you'll know you're in the right place when you're greeted by warm staff and the added convenience of complimentary valet parking this is located in the same drive-through for the Alohilani hotel. From start to finish, the service was impeccable. We could barely drink our water before it was refilled. Every team member was attentive without being intrusive, and they guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. The food? Outstanding. The clear highlights of the meal were the sticky ribs and the fish carpaccio. * The sticky ribs were perfectly tender, fall-off-the-bone, with a glaze that struck the ideal balance of savory and sweet. * The fish carpaccio was incredibly fresh and beautifully plated--light, bright, and full of clean flavors that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Overall, an exceptional dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-tier service, stunning dishes, and a touch of luxury from the moment you pull up to valet.

The first thing I saw when I walked in was the owner making dumplings by hand. That immediately gave me the feeling I was in the right place. Growing up I watched my own Mom make our version of dumplings, so seeing that kind of care and craftsmanship felt familiar. The owner was warm and very welcoming, and as each dish was completed she brought it out fresh from the kitchen, which gave me a chance to taste the food while it was still steaming. It was hot, but I could not stop myself from sampling it :) Everything I ordered was delicious and clearly made fresh. I'll be honest though, watching the dumplings being prepared right in front of me was a real highlight. I'm sure that some of you out there can relate to this. I also had the chance to meet owner's mother and another gentleman who I believe may have been family, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but it did not feel rushed. We had a good time talking story while the food was being prepared. It was a challenge for me to drive home with all that food in the back of my car. I was tempted to pull over and just indulge, but I remembered that I had to share it lol My summary? Good food, genuine hospitality, and a great first impression. I will definitely be back.

Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Chicken Feet was good. Soft, tasty, and meaty. But just ate and felt one note. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings was pretty good. Pan fried very well. Generous amount of filling. Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Inside was cool, spacious, and comfortable. I want to come back on my lunch break! I don't mind dim sum'ing solo! Hopefully there'll be more dim sum choices. I remember seeing on social media they had some unique items only at this location. But I guess I'm too late! **I heard some news, maybe rumors, but the Kapiolani Seafood location might be forced to move due to that and the next lot being torn down for..... you guessed it, more condos! It might have an effect on the Honolulu location. We'll see.

This time around, family wanted to dine here for lunch so I was confident that it would be another great experience. They did not disappoint! With a very large dining area, this establishment was able to fit 12 of us at one huge round table, comfortably. Table, seating, dishes, and surrounding area was clean and organized. Our family ordered a combination of dim sum and entrees for lunch. They have an incredible variety of delicious options and we most certainly filled our table with all kinds of good eats! In total, we had 13 different items, which was served timely and everything was very tasty! Of all that we ordered, my personal favorite was the crispy soy wrapped shrimp patty. The outer crust is a thin soybean layer which had an excellent crunch. Inside, is a generous portion of shrimp patty that is perfect in flavor and texture. I will gladly return because both my lunch and dinner experiences were spot on. We all left fully satisfied!

Okay dim sum and good kamaaina deals, but I think the places I usually go to in town are better. We…read morecame on a weekday and it filled up in under an hour after opening, all with kamaaina groups. They often post deals on Instagram and they aren't stackable, but when we went, it was 20% off everything with a Hawaii ID. Overall nothing was bad, but some of the pieces were small and most weren't that impressive. I thought the cheung fun or rice rolls were especially mediocre and not very soft, but the dessert egg custard sesame ball was excellent and almost made up for it! Parking is easy, and free to get validated with a Hawaii ID at the customer service office on the first floor of the shopping center. Overall, might come back again if they have a good special, but I won't be regularly braving Waikiki just for Tim ho wan.

They had a short line set up outside before being seated and then you are handed a menu to check off what you would like to order. We wanted to try as much as possible so we ordered signature baked barbecue pork buns, egg white & shrimp spring roll, fried crab & shrimp dumplings, fried pork & dried shrimp dumpling, black truffle mushroom rice rolls, garlic green beans, pan fried noodles with soy sauce, shrimp won ton soup and pork & shrimp dumpling in hot &spicy sauce scallion noodle. Which was more than enough for three people. Standouts that we loved the egg white & shrimp spring roll it was very crispy. Fried pork & dried shrimp dumplings had a mochi deep fried outer shell but could've used more filling. The garlic green beans looked like they had a lot of garlic but weren't super flavorful. We loved the broth in the shrimp won ton soup. And if you can handle spicy the spicy scallion noodle was delicious! Arriving early allows you to pick wherever you want to sit. It's a bright open floor layout and the tables are nicely space but in can get loud. As the day went by the tables started to fill up fast. Parking is very convenient in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Overall, we will be back to try other menu items and take advantage of their 20% off take out menu.

First off, no wait bc it was close to 1:30. Everything came out piping hot and fresh Out of all the dim sum places on the island, and I've tried them all, this is my new favorite Siu Mai 5/5 was my DD favorite Beef Ball had good flavor and texture Fried Pork Dumpling (ham siu gok) had water chestnut in it which was a first for me. But it worked! Egg tart 5/5 had a great crust and the bite with the filling was actually really good Ngl Pan fried Chives and Shrimp dumpling was tasty Definitely be back when I am back in town We also came here for dinner a few nights later. Note: they don't serve dim sum during dinner. There wasn't many seafood selection let alone fresh seafood. Clams were even out. Fresh Ong Choy and bbq pork was the highlights. Definitely more of a dim sum restaurant
