My bad review is entirely based on how terrible the food was. For context, we ordered Tonkatsu ramen and Tsukemen dipping ramen. Ramen, according to the server, was the most popular thing on the menu, so how likely could it get messed up? Tonkatsu: Rich, but lacked any salt or had very little. We requested some salt and that instantly made the ramen better. The noodles had enough salt to carry it, but the broth was not great. It tasted like the broth was watered down or reconstituted, however no seasoning was added to re-adjust the broth. Broth: Had little salt and lacked punch, umami, and was brown instead of white. Noodles: Had enough salt to taste good, but was slightly overcooked Pork: Extremely bland. Tasted like zero salt was added during cooking. Toppings: Greatly lacking in toppings Tsukemen: The Tsukemen had a lot of the same issues. Now being a dipping ramen, the broth should be even richer and more flavorful than any normal ramen. Tsukemen -- no matter where you have it in Japan, should be richer and saltier than most broths, but the broth here was severely lacking. For $26 a bowl this was worse than your DIY frozen ramen packs. Now I'm not asking for Japan-level of ramen mastery here, this is after all, just a tourist spot -- but if your Tonkatsu is the best selling item, you have to step it up. Our server did mention that some people complained about the amount of salt in ramen, so they adjusted it. But dare I say, instead of diluting the normal salt/seasoning amount for everyone, couldn't you just add a separate, flavor-light version for people inexperienced with ramen, instead of diluting the original for everyone else? If you're reading this Mr. Morimoto, I would highly encourage you to fly here and order the ramen. I think you and I would share the same opinions. P.S. I was lucky enough to attend a business dinner at Morimoto. We had a private room off the lanai that allowed us to see the ocean and sunset from our space. The large dinning table easily fit 20 people. We had a prefix menu that was served family style. Course 1: house green salad, sticky ribs, and fish carpaccio Course 2: roast duck tacos, steamed pork dumplings, and spicy chicken wonton Course 3: house fried rice and garlic green beans Course 4: grilled miso black cod, grilled kalbi, and orange chicken Dessert: malasadas Everything was great and easily pleased most eaters. I really enjoyed how light the salad was. The steamed pork dumplings and spicy chicken wonton were similar appetizers. I'm not sure if there was a list of options or just these. I didn't think I would like the malasadas but with the whipped coconut cream it was amazing! Service in the private room was great! We had our own area that we could be loud but it also opened to the street so there were added noises from there. The space was big enough to allow mingling around the table. Parking is at the Alohilani resort and there is a valet service. But there is also a self parking option that morimoto will validate both. read more

Okay seriously, I've been to a ton of expensive high end restaurants and none have impressed me like this Morimoto's. When I tell you everything that came out was amazing.... Holy moly it was SO TASTY. EVERYTHING! I was even impressed with the fried rice with how much they served and how much was in it. I personally loved the fish carpaccio, rib eye, hamachi kama, wok vegetables and malasadas for dessert. The orange chicken was my least favorite but it was still good. Oh and the STICKY RIBS...... you HAVE to get them. So crispy yet tender.... I loved how everything we had bursted in my mouth with flavor and was something I couldn't make to that level at home. We had dinner last night at Iron Chef Morimoto Asia Restaurant in Waikiki Honolulu! This gentleman is a Michelin Star Chef for a very good reason, his standards are impeccable and his food is both innovative, ascetically pleasing and absolutely delicious! The prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food offered. We started out with the House Greens for $17. This is a large portion and certainly enough to share. It was dressed perfectly with a wonderful Yazu Vinaigrette. We also tried the Sticky Ribs and they were the STAR of our dinner. They were crispy on the outside and so tender and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed them. We also tried the Pork Gyoza. It was served with an incredible Ginger Scallion sauce that turned an otherwise ordinary pork gyoza into an extraordinary masterpiece in culinary perfection. We continued the sharing theme with the Black Pepper Beef, consisting of Fillet of Beef, Bell Pepper, Onion, Mushroom and a Black Pepper Sauce that tied everything together incredibly well. We sat at the bar and chatted with both bartenders. They were very helpful with menu questions and suggestions. They also helped my Wife navigate through the many choices for Sake and helped her settle on one that was truly unique and delicious. Went here for happy hour (5-6 p.m. daily). It was pretty quiet when we arrived around 5:30, so we were able to sit at the bar counter. The bartender handled both food and drink orders, making everything quick and easy. I had the Aloha Rum Punch and Lemon Chu-Hi. I especially liked the punch -- it was moderately strong and not too sweet. The Chu-Hi was pretty good as well. We shared several dishes: Chashu Pork Quesadilla, Morimoto Spreads, Fried Baby Octopus, and KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). My favorite was the quesadilla -- the chashu was soft, flavorful, and delicious. I also enjoyed the octopus, which was tender and not greasy. The spreads and chicken were okay. My family and I came here one of the nights we vacationed in Waikiki. We have been to Morimoto probably about 10 years ago and I remember enjoying it a lot. It's definitely more upscale and nicer than most restaurants I typically go to, so pricier, but it's worth it. Food was excellent. We really enjoyed the sticky ribs and miso black cod. Everything else we ordered was delicious but weren't too memorable in my opinion. I grew up eating roast duck so it was still good, but it wasn't special for anything I've had before. The desserts were fun. I don't remember much about the chocolate ball we got, but it was quite a show. My niece and nephew really enjoyed it so I didn't get to taste it much haha. I really enjoyed the ube cake we got though. Service was also great. They were quick and knowledgeable about the menu. I believe the garlic noodles wasnt an official menu item but the server offered it for the kids. Ambiance is great. We got there pretty early since our reservation was around 4:30/4:45. But the time we left - around 6:20/30, there was a good amount of people seated. I would recommend reservations if possible. It's a great ambiance for a fancier date night or family celebration. This ramen place was delicious! My boyfriend and I are visiting from the mainland and this was the first dinner spot. We got the vegan ramen and the tonkatsu. Both were delicious. The service was great. The environment was calm since we went during happy hour (3pm). There are birds flying around so I would be aware of that, but other than that, awesome place. I have been trying to go to Morimotos all year long in the many places I've been that had one, but haven't been able to. My wonderful husband begrudgingly went with me on our vacation - I wanted to try the duck which he had no interest in. But, alas - he agreed - and what a wonderful dinner it was! And reasonable too! My reservation is at the opening time at 5PM. so while waiting to go to dining area at the bar is busy and not enough staff to take care of the customers. I wish to have a drink before I go in, but it didn't happen. server is professional and polite. I actually look at the menu before I come and lots of interesting fusion in the menu. We have Sticky Ribs and Hamachi Taco for start. Grilled Kalbi and A-5 Surf Turf roll. Surf Turf is nice presentation and Miyazaki wagyu is very good. He gave us a lot of sass and I overheard most in my group of 15 talking about being annoyed all evening by his antics. I used to watch Iron Chef back in the day, so I just had to check out Chef Morimoto's restaurant here. Love the variety of dishes on their menu and everything looks delicious! They have a very extensive selection of sake, shochu, whisky, wine and cocktails as well. Wish I could've been with a larger party to try more items, but hubby and I tried what we could. Shogun Sidecar: Nikka whisky, Cointreau, lillet and lemon juice. Citrusy and light. Geisha Gimlet: Empress gin, black pepper syrup, cointreau, fresh lime juice and crème de violette. Not too spicy or sweet. Smoked Old Fashioned: elijah craig small batch bourbon, carpano antica formula vermouth, luxardo liqueur, angostura. One of the best old fashioneds I've had and the presentation was impressive. Chef Morimoto's Premium Sake Flight: morimoto junmai, junmai ginjo, junmai daiginjo & sparkling nigori. The taste and quality is noticeably different in each. Duck Caesar Salad: a decent size of fresh mixed greens with a good amount of pieces of duck. Orange and Parmesan went well with the duck. Ishiyaki Buri Bop: I appreciated how they prepared this table side, sizzled the buttery yellowtail against the hot pot and mixed all the ingredients. The rice was crispy and the dish was very flavorful. Ishiyaki A5 Wagyu 3 oz: Okay, for $114, I would've preferred they cooked all the pieces table side, rather than just show us how to cook one piece. We got about 6 pieces and although we cooked them just fine, that would've sucked if we overcooked one. The meat was so juicy and buttery, it just melted in my mouth. Ube Basque Cheesecake: server recommended this over the chocolate sphere that comes out in flames and it was divine! Light, creamy and the lemon cream gave it a nice contrast. There were a few instances of miscommunication and missteps with the service, but overall, we had a positive experience and really enjoyed the drinks and food. I would come back with a larger party! We were seated all the way in the back. Not a lot of people were dining so I was annoyed we were no where near the beach views. Staff were ok, no one really went above and beyond. Morimoto Asia Waikiki was the perfect way to end my Hawaii trip, and it absolutely delivered. I made a reservation for a tuesday at 5:30 PM, and it wasn't busy at all -- which made for a relaxed, enjoyable experience and easy conversation. I was seated on the lanai with a beautiful ocean view and had the privilege of watching the sunset while dining, which truly elevated the entire evening. Sky and Ke-Von took exceptional care of me -- both were incredibly friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. My sparkling water was constantly refilled, service was prompt, and I never once felt rushed or overlooked. Dining solo felt completely comfortable and not awkward at all, which I really appreciated. I started with the lilikoi mocktail with tequila added, which was refreshing and well balanced. The hamachi tacos featured extremely fresh fish -- clean, high quality, and delicious, though I felt it could have used a bit more "oomph," but still very enjoyable. The sticky ribs, however, were absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, unbelievably moist, and falling off the bone -- I was genuinely blown away and in disbelief at how good they were. Easily one of the standout dishes of the night. I ordered the hot and sour soup as a palate cleanser and to help with digestion, and it was excellent -- flavorful with a satisfying burn. The highlight of the entire meal was the A5 Ishiyaki Wagyu (3 oz). You're served 4-5 pieces; the first slice is cooked for you, and you cook the rest yourself (about 15-30 seconds). It's accompanied by chimichurri, sea salt, sweet ginger soy, and ponzu, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Mine was A5 Miyazaki, Japan (Quality Grade 5) -- the real deal. I truly thought I'd had great Wagyu before, but this completely blew me out of the water. The richness, texture, and flavor were unreal, and it paired beautifully with the sweet ginger soy. Absolutely worth the splurge. For dessert, I ordered the malasadas (5 pcs) served with bananas foster and whipped cream. They were unbelievably light, fluffy, and served fresh -- perfectly sweet without being overly sugary or bitter. An absolutely delightful dessert and a flawless way to end the meal. Overall, this was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Beautiful ambiance, excellent service, world-class food, and a stunning lanai sunset view. I highly recommend making a reservation, as I hear it books up quickly. If you go, don't miss the sticky ribs, malasadas, and Wagyu. I am writing to share a concerning experience my family and I had at Morimoto Asia Waikiki last night, July 30, 2025. We had dinner with our children and ordered several dishes, including A5 surf and fish carpaccio, A5 surf and turf sushi roll, miso black cod, house fried rice, orange chicken, and drinks. Unfortunately, a few hours after our meal, my husband became quite ill with a fever, constant diarrhea, and vomiting. We believe this was due to food poisoning. He had consumed most of the fish carpaccio and the A5 surf and turf sushi roll, leading us to suspect that the raw fish or meat may have been the cause. First let me say everything was A5, top notch 5 stars! The food, the service, the ambiance. It was a solo outing but I did try a few things. In order I had Aqua Pana water, Vero Water, Coke, Ube cheesecake, Flaming Chocolate Sphere, Sticky Ribs, Pad Thai, Pork Gyoza, Fried Rice, white rice, Ribeye steak, Malasada with whip cream, banana foster sauce and ice cream. Most of the portions are shareable sizes so be ready to not finish your food and to share with someone. I know it's an upscale restaurant but it had that home style family restaurant vibe to it. Can't beat that with a baseball bat. It was quite filled up but it wasn't noisy at all. Every single employee that came within 10 feet of me said hi and checked on me. Promote my server Yoon to head of servers because he's awesome! He got my order correct, made suggestions that I loved. My busser Reon was also friendly, helpful and damn fabulous. Promote him too please. The manager was one of the more involved, hands on managers that I've seen at restaurants. They are usually hidden in an office in the back. Not this one, I seen her hosting , serving and doing all kinds of stuff. Kudos to Morimoto for having good management. Host was nice. Everybody looked happy. Cool thing is you can see the kitchen and all the food being prepared. That's not something you get to see at restaurants. They really made me feel special for my birthday ;P Ordered the Sticky Ribs, Kakuni rice thing that they cook in front of you and this duck thing you put in a tortilla, served with sauces. Sticky ribs literally fell off the bone and was super tender, the kakuni rice thing was delicious and meat was tender as well from the kakuni, and the duck tortilla was on-point as well. Desserts had an amazing presentation with flames being set off on the chocolate cake, and an ube basque cheesecake that they flame for 5 seconds. They gave me a complimentary ice cream that said happy birthday with a candle so that was fun :) Server was very on-point in recommending alcohol drinks and refilling tortillas. The food and vibe here is unmatched. The food was delicious, every one of the dishes we ordered was really good. Must try: sticky ribs, wagyu fried rice, and the whole branzino was amazing. It was until after we finish our meal that I realized this place is by an Iron chef and it made sense, everything tasted great. Service was good but in the beginning but it took awhile in the end to get our bill and get our payment back. They need more servers on the floor, our server had tables scattered everywhere which made it harder to be attentive to each table. Came here last week with the whole family to celebrate my mom's birthday. Our server Manu was excellent. Super knowledgeable of the menu and entertaining to all of our guests. We tried the sticky ribs for the first time and they were so tender and fell off the bone. SUPER good. We opted for a few other items on their menu to all share - the duck, pork gyoza, kakuni bop, orange chicken, crispy whole fish, and the sauteed vegetables. All of our items were delicious, but particularly their duck is super good. To drink I had their smoked old fashioned which is strong and has a good smokey flavor. You get a tableside show which is entertaining as well. Their version of the Mai Tai though, "momo tai" drink my mom was not a fan. Had a different taste....i would skip this drink. To our surprise, they gave us some dessert ice creams on the house for the little kids and an amazing tiramisu dessert for our table - which comes in a glass jar that they turn upside down and drop on a plate for you. This was probably one of the best tiramisu's I've ever had. Overall, we have been here twice when visiting from the mainland and both have been positive experiences. Prices are high ($700+ for party of 5 adults, 2 kids) but reflect on the quality of food and terrific service. Would be back again when visiting next time for a special occasion. read more

Excellent dining experience and food! We ordered drinks, dinner and dessert and all were exceptional. The smoked old fashioned and lycheetini were amazing The wonton tacos were an interesting vegetarian take and the hot and sour soup were the best we've ever had. The vegetarian lo mein was delicious (although we wished it had tofu). The green beans and beef pepper steak were outstanding. The flaming chocolate entremet .... I had high expectations and was plenty hyped for Morimoto, and they were met and then some! I've always loved the Iron Chef series and watched it religiously, so I was a fan of Morimoto-san and had a positive view of his brand. His special chicken instant ramen is one of my favorites hands down. Reservations were easy to get in August as back to school has reduced the crowds in Waikiki. We ended up sitting in the patio area which had plenty of sun shades, but unfortunately I was hot and got even hotter and was sweating profusely during the meal. Other than that almost everything else was perfect. Since this was my only chance until my next visit, I went all out and ordered the 16 oz wagyu ribeye and the angry lobster. I also tried their signature sticky ribs appetizer and it was just divine. The outside was crispy and sweet, while the meat just fell off the bone. The waiter told us the ribs were braised for umpteen hours and I believe him! The ribeye was pretty incredible. It was not A5 but was a mighty fine tender steak. I was able to cut it with the side of the fork! The sauce and mushrooms and caramelized shallots really took it over the top. The angry lobster was so delicious it made me happy and joyful. The sauce was delightfully coconutty curry and it was cooked to perfection. It comes out sizzling to add to the excitement. It's also served on a bed of pad thai noodles to provide some nice carbs with the dish. We also tried the hamachi tacos and the ingredients were just perfectly paired with the hamachi poke. The olive really struck me as special when I bit into it. We also ordered the house fried rice and garlic green beans to round out the meal with some carbs and veggies. They were fine and dandy but nothing over the top. Service was at a very high level as you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The servers tended to us very frequently and the waiter was friendly, helpful, and provided some nice conversation. I'd highly recommend Morimoto's and I look forward to returning on my next visit! read more

Nice ambiance in Waikiki overlooking Waikiki Beach. If you can sit on the balcony you'll be able to watch the sun set. The interior seating enjoys a contemporary vibe and you can get a glimpse of the kitchen through its glass walls. Service was excellent. Friendly staff, beautiful waterfront views (if you sit outside), upscale casual atmosphere. Quite pricey but worth every penny. Our table of 3 shared 4 appetizers, a sushi roll, rice, veggies, and two entrees. It was plenty of food for us. My lobster miso soup was delicious, but quite salty for those that are concerned with sodium intake. My son said the regular miso soup was perfect. Everything else was spot on. We made a reservation at Morimoto after it had glowing reviews from a friend and it lived up to the hype! We requested a patio table at sunset and the views were absolutely beautiful. We started with the sticky ribs, hamachi tacos, and gyoza. The ribs were spectacular! They were perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. The balance of sweetness in the sauce was perfection. The hamachi tacos were a let down. You only get two and they're pretty underwhelming. They were also pretty fishy tasting. The gyoza was good. The ginger scallion sauce was a surprisingly nice touch and complimented the pork nicely. For entrees we got the waygu fried rice, grilled kalbi and miso cod. The fried rice was one of the best I've ever had. It comes out in an iron pot and mixed in front of you, and is so tasty. The kalbi was also great but a tad over cooked as we asked for medium rare. The miso cod was the winner of the entrees. It was so buttery and delicious, I was dying for more. The service was a bit slow but it was very busy and the excellent food completely made up for it so we didn't mind. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who's in Waikiki and looking for a nice dinner spot. I can't wait to go back! read more
