Also, why are the crab rangoons so good? I'll admit I don't care for their potstickers, but that's totally forgivable considering their soup would be on my list for a last meal if I were on death row.

It looks very upscale inside and the food is spectacular the crab rangoons are the best I've had and the pad Thai was made perfectly. Jemma, our waitress, was an absolute pleasure. Will make this a regular restaurant

Pad Thai and drunken noodles were amazing. I don't like pho, but the person in our group that had it loved it. We got our order to go and it was packed up with care and had everything that we ordered. We will be back again!

My daughter and I ate there for the first time last night. Upon entering, the place is welcoming with booth seating on the perimeter and tables in the center. I had the Rock Pho'd special and my 9yo had the Beef Pho. The size was more than enough for me and the protein within the dish did not disappoint, in fact it was surprising which made it an even better dining experience! They asked prior if I wanted tripe.

There aren't kid options but my daughter would've ate all her Pho if she didn't have the spring rolls (amazing as well!). What I'm really here to brag about is the broth! Of all places where Pho is served, this location of all places...

We'd heard about this restaurant from our friends. Asian fusion. It's quite popular. The restaurant was full on a weekday evening (there was a big party). We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. There's a little bench to sit on while waiting. The doorway becomes crowded with people either waiting or coming in to pick up orders. The servers were great- very friendly and on top of things. We had the chicken pho- which was good sized and tasty. The Spicy Thai Basil was also good. Although there might be some spiciness in the sauce, it really wasn't noticeable. I'd recommend keeping some jalapeños in the mix or on the side for a little more spiciness.

We had a GREAT meal! This was my first time there, and will definitely be back. They were busy on Saturday night, but we were greeted with a friendly hello right away! They quickly got a booth ready for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and noise level minimal to allow for good conversation. We ordered the pot stickers which were served hot and fresh with a delicious dipping sauce! I ordered the pad Thai which was absolutely delicious! It was piping hot with fresh bean sprouts and a wedge of lime, chopped peanuts and cilantro. I loved every bite! My significant other had the Tom Yung Goong soup with shrimp. It was hot and fresh, with excellent flavors of ginger and lemongrass. It had plenty of shrimp and rice on the side.

Certainly there's plenty of Asian restaurants in Rockford but there's not a lot of options for pho around here. In this shopping center on Riverside is one. Rock-Pho'd actually has a pretty good variety. More than pho to get. There's also noodles, rice, and other stuff. At lunch here recently it was busy. It's certainly a popular place. There wasn't that long of a wait to get seated. Probably the pho is the most popular choice. There's none of that for vegetarians to get though. Instead we got a couple of the noodle choices. It's about $12 for these. Plenty of good ones and these were big too. I had the Kua Mee. This is Laotian style stir fried rice noodles with bean sprouts, cilantro, eggs which I left off, and green onions. Good spice but not too hot. This also comes with a protein choice, and I got the tofu. Get a good variety of Asian food. It has Thai and more. There's plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.

We followed the Yelp reviews to this cozy Asian fusion/pho/Thai restaurant in Rockford -- and so glad we did! Outstanding restaurant with great service! We started with pot stickers - delicious! No photo because it was devoured too fast. Hubs and I split the Panang Curry with rice. It had a kick and was so tasty! Not a drop left. Daughter had the Pho Soup: chicken, with basil, bean sprouts and seasoned up at the table with hoisin sauce and chili oil. Our server was very pleasant, which we appreciated since we raced in toward the end of their open hours. Food was delivered in good time. We were only passing through town but if we were local Rockfordians, we would be regulars here for sure. It's in a small strip mall with plenty of parking.

Located in a strip mall with ample parking. The server was a little swamped however did a good job given the circumstances. The menu has a good mix of pho, Thai entrees, and some Chinese entrees. The beef pho had a good portion of flank. The pad see ew had homemade bbq pork and was very good. Overall, great food and experience.

Told restaurant "No peanuts" because of allergies. We got the Pad Thai and on the container it said "No peanuts". Unfortunately there were peanuts in the food, causing a trip to the emergency room. read more

My visit to Rock-Pho'd had me ordering the Pho and the egg rolls from the menu. I have had many Pho dishes over the years and had to rate this dish as average. The server was pleasant and the meal served quickly. My egg rolls I thought were slightly over cooked with more flavor needed in the dish itself. My Pho was smaller than other bowls I enjoyed at other restaurants, but with similar ingredients. The off-putting measure of the review though was the taste and the hard stems associated with the basil. When serving Pho, the stems should be cooked through or the leaves separated from the stems. The taste of the basil was tinny tasting, probably due to the tough stems. I shall try them again in a couple of months and see if they change their ingredients. read more

This is probably one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. Friendly service, great décor, amazing food. I've eaten here several times now, in person and carry out, and I've never been disappointed. Often times I end up with a favorite dish at a restaurant, but here, everything is my favorite. It becomes hard to choose what to order. Their home made sausages are amazing! Send this place lots of your business, because Rockford needs more successful independent restaurants! read more

Went there for the first time tonight and my boyfriend and I LOVED it!!!! Best Asian food around In my opinion love that they have asian bbq pork and chinese broccoli!!!! And they have wide rice noodles which to me is chow fun so in love cant wait to go back!!!! read more

First time here and I will definitely be returning. I usually go to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant on 7 th st but this is a great location and the workers are nice. The food was great next time I will definitely branch out and try more food. The time I came I was with my daughter and she does not like any of this food. So it's safe to say I will go with someone that loves it as much as I do. read more

Needed to stop driving and get my Pho on. Aimed to go to PhoSquare .2 miles away but they were closed. Think that was lucky for me! Best pho I've had in a long time. Option to add extra meat was very satisfying. Great service, cheers Nick read more

I've eaten at just about every Thai place in town and they do have some of the best food around. Their pho is THE BEST. You can't find better. It's delicious and very shareable. Their Thai tea is perfectly made and I've never tried a dish I haven't loved here. read more

I just realized I hadn't reviewed this place yet for Yelp My bad. I've been going here since they opened almost a year now. I have had 90% of the menu and it's all AWESOME. I have taken dozens of people here and everyone raved about the food. Souki, head chef and owner, is an artist. And the best part, the food is crazy consistent. They never have an "off-night". The appetizers are wonderful. My favorite is the spring rolls. All the traditional Vietnamese/Thai dishes are here as well as some creative fusion dishes. Try the Todd Steak Salad if it's available. A beautiful steak and vegetable salad that will knock your socks off. The Pho selections are like bowls of nectar from the heavens. Fresh ingredients in the hands of a master REALLY does make a difference. Souki's wife, Bonnie, is the brains (and beauty) behind the operation. Make sure to tell her what you like. I honestly believe they just missed placed our order, but told us it was because they had a lot of take out orders come in (not a good excuse). Fantastic Pho- some of the best I've ever had. Broth is rich and nourishing and comes with a plethora of bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños, and lime. Great spice selection as well. I've been here twice and both times I was very pleased. I ordered the pad see ew and crab Rangoon's the first time. The portions are very reasonable with enough for leftovers. The second time I ordered the Nam khao and egg rolls and couldn't believe the flavor. I am looking forward to trying other menu options. Very disappointing. Interior was nice and the staff was very friendly, but the food was poor. Ordered Panang curry with chicken - it was supposed to have baby corn and carrots - it didn't, but it was loaded with onions. About two thirds of the plate. And there was very little chicken. We also ordered Lad Nar which was also supposed to have carrots and baby corn, and again it didn't. And the noodles were stuck together in one big glob. Had to get a knife to cut them. Remarkably poor. There's much better Thai available in town. read more

The best Pho in the 815, Pho-Real. Whether you've never had pho or have had it 100 times, Rock-Pho'd is the restaurant Pho-You. This was by far the best pho I've ever had and it was only made better by the Pho-Nominal service. Souky, Bonnie, and all the staff made my first-time visit un-Pho-Gettable. They also did a Pho-Nominal job designing the restaurant and even added some festive decor for the holidays. I will Pho-Sure be returning soon. read more

By far one of my favourite Pho places in town; service phenomenal, owner always comes out and talks to us to make sure everything is fine, but I believe it's because my brother-in-Law is good friends with him lol. Either way, the food is always on point--the cleanliness is impeccable, I haven't seen a dirty table, or floors or etc, though I've never checked the bathrooms... either way, the place is the spot To go. Visiting Chicago from Cali and wanted some Khao Piak...in my opinion if you're not Laotian its still edible but way to cakey. Wouldn't recommend from here and wouldn't come to this restaurant again. Ordered the mango and sticky rice too, way too much coconut sauce!!!! Obviously it tastes better with it but there is a limit to how much you put on and it just seemed like they drowned it making me disappointed. Even my grandma says this place isn't that great either but, if you're not Asian looking for that Asian food fix, you can try this place out. Not satisfied and money wasted. read more

Omg I looooove the pho at this place. I'm not very experienced with pho so take this review how you want. This was the first and one out of three places I ever got pho. The other place was Sister's Thai cafe and Pho 815 and theirs was less than impressive. No flavor in the broth. The chicken was barely seasoned and a scarce quantity was given. The one here is delicious and got me hooked on Pho. It has soooo much flavor and they bring you all the spices, mint leaves, lime, and bean sprouts on the side to add to your liking. For about $10 you get a huge bowl that I could usually only finish half of. I also was to add how delicious the fried meatballs are. First time I've ever tried them but wow are they good. Covered in a delicious batter that's crisped to perfection with a side of sweet and sour sauce. Plus the service is awesome, waitresses and staff are very friendly and the food was delivered super fast and steaming hot! I love this place! My definite go to for pho. read more

Stopped in this AM to try something new. The crab Rangoon's and spring rolls were great. We each ordered a different entree, chicken, beef and shrimp. All were delicious. Nice portions, plenty of meat. The people next to us had some bowls of some type of soup and noodles, looked great, especially when it's 7 degrees outside. Waitress was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. All around great experience. Will be back to try some other items. read more

This place is amazing. Their food is flavorful and absolutely delicious. Rockford has been needing a place like this. Delicious Thai and Vietnamese food. Our food came out fast and hot. Service was attentive and caring. Portions are generous with a generous serving of shrimp. We ordered the Dragon Fried rice and the red curry with shrimp. We would definitely order them again. Both came with a bowl of white rice. A good mix of red and green peppers and brocolli. We can't wait to go back. read more

Specialties

Our chef, Souky, is half-Laotian, half-Vietnamese and grew up in Laos. He began cooking for Laotian markets when he was 7 years old and has loved cooking ever since! He specializes in Laotian, Vietnamese, and Thai cuisine.

History

Established in 2018.

Souky and Bonnie have always dreamed of opening their own little restaurant. They started with catering for friends and family gatherings with the hopes of one day owning their own restaurant. Starting in 2014, Souky and Bonnie along with their children started selling egg rolls and crab rangoons every summer during their neighborhood garage sale in order to raise additional money which became a huge hit. Word of mouth started going around and people would drive as far as 1 hour away to buy more egg rolls and crab rangoons. People even sent Facebook messages wanting to know when the next sale would be. In 2017, the duo made the investment and found a little empty shop with a kitchen enough to fit 3 people for themselves. They had the intentions of having a tiny local restaurant operated by the two. In March of 2018, Rock-Pho'd finally opened and the support and response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Bonnie and Souky are a husband and wife duo, who have had a long-time dream of owning a restaurant. Souky's passion for cooking and Bonnie's perseverance to succeed has led them to open Rock-Pho'd! They have a passion for what they do and are finally living their dream.

I ended up getting the chicken tinga skillet and substituted to get something called simit as my side instead of toast. The waitress described it as kind of a pretzel bread, which I feel was accurate. Lots of sesame seeds, and it came with jam, which was delicious! The vibe is cozy and local, and come to find out that the business owner is Turkish, which we loved to know and support. I'm also not a bacon person, but I enjoyed the bacon here because I'm not a super super crispy bacon fan. The waitress was also super sweet and provided a coffee refill in a to-go cup for my husband to enjoy in the car on our way back towards Chicago. The only thing is that one of my poached eggs came out more hard boiled than runny, but everything else was great. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. Note: we got one of 2 parking spaces left remaining, so know that parking can be a bit tight on weekend mornings.

I'm glad we decided to go. Every detail was correct. The staff members who welcomed us were courteous and helpful right away. When we arrived at the menu, we were unable to choose anything. Even though everything was quite popular at the other place, we still gave it a lot of tries. There are too many to mention, and I don't want to misspell any names, but their Special pho and mango sticky rice were by far my favorites. They aren't just one of those fancy restaurants. The cuisine, service, and overall experience are all very important to them. These factors combine to make the restaurant excellent. The setting is ideal for dates. 10/10 read more

Rock-Pho'd will forever have a special place in my heart. The pho is the best I have ever had, full of flavor, and there are many options to prepare it to your desired taste! Thai Tea is my favorite and Souky's is the best! The Nam Khao, Larb Beef, Khao Piak, and Lad Nah are some of my favorites. King fried rice - yes, the portions size it big and there's a lot of meat but the taste wasn't there. The rice is over cooked and mushy. You don't really get the taste of fried rice but more of the red flavor sauce they use and it's greasy. For the taste factor ppl will have to try the fried rice at Ming Cuisine in Schaumburg and you'll know what I mean. Fried rice should not be that mushy. read more
