I chose one star because this place has a misleading website. If you are considering a place of refuge as the content suggests, you may want to reconsider.
Currently, I am in this treatment center. Yes, I've successfully been detoxed from my xanax problem. Yes, many of the programs are not without merit, but there are key factors which withhold cracks in the design of this "spiritual" abode.
Rules are not so much encouraged to be followed. Actually, this has changed a bit since the day I was called a "maricon" by a fellow client. That's not all that was said, but the rest of the language wasn't pretty. Even though it may have been in jest, it should not have ever been uttered, especially to a stranger. This type of foul-mouthed rampantness has gone on for a while. Who knows who has been deeply affected by this as a result of negligence to the very basis that the core of Rock Solid is to represent. It is not only clients who speak derogatory, discriminating and slurs, but the team members, also. Let it be known that a good majority of those employed in this house are addicts themselves. You won't see pictures of them because they are tatted, pierced, and looking unappealing to say, a mother or father trying to get their kid on the right track. It does boil down to perception, but detoxing and vulnerability in being in recovery does not help the absorption of such verbal acts.
Do not get me wrong. Many of those I encounter do not impose harm or silly retaliations to someone in the throes of withdrawal, such as I was. If it weren't for the life skills already incorporated into my every day living, I may not even be here to type this review.
For instance, earlier today, I had a dentist appointment. The staff failed to give me my anti-seizure medications at noon, so after arriving back to my chamber, I noticed my heart going into palpitation mode. That is serious business. I was at high risk of going into a seizure and with my will of self-preservation on high, I could only seek out someone of... "authority." Steven, an addict, took my blood pressure and then told me nothing was wrong. I told him that procedure would be to call Jill, our head nurse. She did not put me on a certain plan for "sheets n giggles." The medication is detrimental to my very existence. He rang Jill up. She instructed him to distribute pills to all current residents. He came back into the kitchen where I was preparing a late lunch and asked why I was freaking out. He knows not what I am going through, nor does he have any right or experience to make a call on any whim he may be having in his distant mind.
He threw a tantrum as I was explaining my situation, while also throwing his keys and binder of clients' medical history, here, on a desk. I don't need that type of treatment while being in a sort of panicked state. His attitude was not warm. Do not expect the members of the team to always be warm or understanding.
There has been no connection from me, to the beach. Meditation consists of reading from books and scribbling silly goals on a dry erase board. I say they are "silly" because of the context. Seriously taken, it is not. No one steps in to rectify that.
Roaches scurry around the kitchen counters, come morning.
Worms have been found, festering in clementines.
This place is rather unkempt at times.
There is very little spiritual process going on. Do not let the image of 4 clean cut fellows, frolicking on the beach convince you that this is the place of the same persuasion.
I do not have medical insurance and flew all the way to the Pacific Coast to be here and get well. Despite all the flaws falling in the cracks of this structure, I prevail. This is because my drive has hardened in the past year, through my own subjection. I have something+ some to contribute to society! I know most of the 12 steps that are to be learnt here(if you aren't lead astray) already... but I still manage to pick things up to use in the long run. There are hurdles here that could kill or emotionally cripple a person who is not on guard... I only hope I can save someone by typing out this review. There's much more to include, but I must revise this at a later time. Everyone is different and unique in their own treatments. No one can ever guess what you are going through. You're left to your own devices, come weekend, unless someone who empathizes is on duty.
Please... Forget the pictures and talk of "love and compassion" because it only goes so far. At this moment in time... it only goes so far. Please read reviews of all places you consider before placing a loved one or even yourself in my position. It may work for you. It may not, but try and look through the facade and take into great account every word I've said here. My situation above is no isolated incident. Sure, everyone here is human, but to leave all your negative energies at the door is not what happens with many of those employed. read more
