Darren came out and gave us an estimate to replace the pump. One of his employees came back and replaced the pump that was burned out and this is where the issue comes in. The person that was working on our pump unplugged the sewage ejector pump for some reason and left it unplugged after they were done. As we have used Darren in the past we fully trusted his company to do a great job and they have until this time. It was a week later were I was downstairs doing laundry and found that where was water coming up from the floor drain and it was all over the floor and leaking under the baseboards to the room next to the laundry room into the carpet and into our bathroom as well. I reached out to Darren and explained what was going on and he asked me if I could take pictures and text them to him....right there was a RED FLAG....a customer calls you and tells you there is a problem with work done as their house and instead of coming in person to see, he asked for pictures. So I take the pictures and send them to him and he responds that he will have to see if he wanted to go through his insurance and that it did not look like it would be more then his deductible, also get a quote for the damages. After sending him the quote I do not hear from him in a couple of weeks, then he responds that he had some health issues and that he was in the hospital, mind you this is in the beginning of January. I wait until the end of the month to follow up with him and he stated that he was just getting out of the hospital and he has a long road to recovery and to bear with him a little longer. I apologized to him and asked if there was someone in the office to take care of the matter and he never responded to me after that. In March I texted him again asking if he was doing well and were we stood on fixing the basement...he never responded and after several attempts trying to contacting him he finally responded in may stating that he is finally getting back to work and needs to catch up and to give him a week or so and he will get back to me. A week later I reached out to him again asking for an update and he stated that he was going to visit his daughter in Wisconsin and to follow up with him next week!!!! A week later I reached out again and asked how it was going and his response was slow! This is now the end of May so I waited until the middle of June to reach out to Darren and to my surprise he was back in the hospital. Its now the end of June and I reach out to him again asking for an update and told him this has been long enough please but the issue to bed. Darren does respond this time asking what my address was and he will mail me a check?!?!....Darren then doesn't remember the quote I sent him and had to resend him the quote again. After some banter back and forth he then stated that he's not sure who was to blame for the unplugging of the pump????? I was shocked to hear this from him! July 9th I followed up with him again and did not hear back from him. At this point I was ready to get a lawyer involved, so I let him know that and Immediately he responded back saying he had some cash on him and would drop it off at the house. It was not the full amount for the quote I sent him but I took what I could get. Darren did say that he would get me the rest of it as soon as he could. I texted Darren July 17th asking for the rest of the payment.....after reaching out several times I did not hear from Darren until October. This time he was not taking responsibility for his work and as a business owner. All I wanted to have him do is make the situation right and pay for the damages and he couldn't even do that. It is now November that still haven't herd from Darren about getting the rest of the money. I KNOW THIS WAS LONG BUT ITS BEEN A YEAR DEALING WITH THE LIES AND I WANTED TO BE AS DESCRIPTIVE AS POSSIBLE SO YOU DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID BY USING FLUSH PLUMBING. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND USE SOMEONE ELSE.

So I called Your Helpful Plumber to have someone come out for an inspection. On the phone, they were very helpful and friendly. They said they'd be able to get someone out the next day and that we wouldn't be charged for the inspection, only for any work that came after the inspection. The next day, the plumber came by to take a look, and he concluded that the leak was a result of recent heavy rains getting in through cracks in the exterior brick wall, not a plumbing issue. So I thought, great, we're all set then. BUT, then he charged me $250 for the inspection despite having told me that the inspection would be free. Now, 2 weeks later, our neighbor is still seeing leaks despite there having been no rain at all recently. So I tried to contact the company to have them send someone back out. But, every time I call, it goes straight to voicemail. I have left messages and sent several texts (I believe the number listed is the owner's cell, as he had texted me previously about scheduling the first appt) but have not heard anything from them. I texted the actual plumber who had come out for the inspection as well, and he said that they'd be happy to come back out for a second look at no charge, but that I'd have to contact the owner for scheduling. Now after 3 days of trying to contact them, our hardwood floors outside of the bathroom are buckling very severely, so I am pretty certain there is some kind of leaky pipe under there that needs to be addressed immediately, but I have still not been able to get a hold of them. I ended up having to schedule a different plumber, and now I'm on the line for an additional $150 after this company basically robbed me of $250 for not doing any actual work and then disappearing. Do yourself a favor and find a different plumber, these guys are super shady.

When I felt necessary to write a review on Google I received an absolutely unprofessional reply stating "I don't know why we didn't come back, sorry" and "this work was done 2 years ago" adding in an accusation that the second service was "bashing h20" and "that guy hasn't worked here in 2 years, have a great day" How is that service? I just had Nick come out to troubleshoot a water heater repair caused by a leak from a saddle valve…read moreabove my furnace heading to my furnace humidifier causing the pilot light to go out to to the pooling water and moisture at the base of the unit. The service team was able to fit me in same day by putting me on standby. Nick was able to diagnose, stop the leak, inspect that the leak had done no further damage, and ultimately get the water heater working within 5 minutes of his arrival. Better yet, he said it was a simple fix and did not charge me, but just asked that I keep them at the top of my list for my next job! Very friendly and presentable all the way. He also assessed my heater and said I probably had about another two years to go before needing to replace, and gave me a written quote for a new water heater and to replace the saddle valve with an angle stop. The angle stop cost was a bit high, but the water heater replacement was very reasonable (just being fair). I am definitely going to reach out to them for my next plumbing job.

I reached out to my brother-in-law, who does plumbing, and he said it was a fair amount. Still, he lives in another state and wanted a second opinion here in Chicago. I found VanderBosch because they ranked high on Google when I asked about the job. Actually, they had a whole blog post about the service and I learned a lot. Jordan called me back and let me run down the whole project and told me what they would charge. I walked away from the conversation really wanting to give the job to VanderBosch, but Jordan is a straight-shooter and told me that they couldn't finish the job as fast as his competitor (for boring, but significant reasons). So, this competitor to the initial company took the time to call me back, listen to my issue, give me the straight facts, and all because he was so focused on the well-being of a potential customer that in the end, couldn't even book his company. Why can't everybody be like this? This is some real "city of big shoulder" stuff from a Chicago-based company. In the end, I wasn't able to hire VanDerBosch, but they have a down payment on a future customer.
