Food was one of the best meals I've ever had. The scallops over Rossetto was amazing. Tara was our bartender. The service was impeccable. She was friendly, professional, very attentive and beautiful . The service and food were so good we went back again last night and had the short-ribs, pizza and wings. Two women treated the bartender Tara horribly the first night we were there. Tara handled herself amazingly under the circumstances. I was embarrassed for her while I was eating my dinner and drinking. I'm a realtor licensed in 3 states and have never seen someone treated so poorly by a customer. Visited this fall. The mussels were ok but could have use a little more flavor in the broth. Nice enough though. We had a steak dish and the lobster tacos. Can I just say the lobster tacos were amazing! All around different than the ubiquitous lobster roll. Very fresh tasting. My steak was perfectly cooked as the waiter was patient and heard my actual temperature description. The side dish of veggies was a lovely way of having a baked yet crispy outside potato. I really wanted to like this place, but it feels like a tourist trap after our experience. Ordered two pizzas- a margherita pizza (made with marinara sauce-why?!?!) and plain cheese. The plain cheese was greeezy AF and barely edible. I made the best of it and hit up the bar for napkins to sop up the grease thinking this was the best they had to offer. My wife and daughter had to order different dish as they were grossed out by the pizza. Then I saw another table's pizza and realized I got some undercooked, over greased version of their pizza. Tonight I had the most amazing tacos at Rockfish in Edgartown Mass. Off the special $10 menu of several choices, I chose the seared cod taco. The first time for me. In addition to the cod, it had sliced avocado, delightful cabbage, cilantro, shredded carrots, chipotle aioli and homemade pico de gallo. The ingredients were so flavorful and delicious. They were extremely light and perfect for those of us who don't want something heavy. Every bite was full of flavor. Truly, I think this taco was probably the best I have ever had. I'm very picky about my lobster rolls but this one was amazing! By far one of the best I've ever had. You get so much lobster meat and it's all claw & knuckle, aka the best part. A solid contender among the Edgartown restaurant options that has a decent variety of menu items, a generous lobster roll, and reasonable prices, unlike some of its neighbors which are more expensive and lower quality (lookin' at you, Atlantic!). Be warned that it can get very loud, to the point where you can't hear the person sitting right next to you, and that can significantly impact the dining experience. Recently I ordered a golden beet salad to go and discovered that it was mostly arugula, a scattering of beets, a spoonful or two of farro, and no goat cheese at all (despite that being listed) - see photo. We went here for a light dinner and it was perfect. There's an upstairs and dow stairs section, and we sat upstairs with the bartender being our waiter. He was very nice and service was excellent. We could see their brick oven from our seat, and there were cool vibes throughout. I had a couple Goombay Smashes, which hit the spot in more ways than one, lol. We ordered wings to come out first, which came with a delightful buttermilk herb dipping sauce-- like ranch but fancy ranch haha. The wings were so smoky, crunchy, and hot! So delicious. This was a VERY disappointing meal and experience for my family. The service was shameful; rude and dismissive. It felt as though our waitress resented being there. The bar staff were equally as snide. Unfortunately, the food was sub par. We expected much more out of this establishment as we have been here before. HORRIBLE SERVICE. We are sitting at the upstairs bar as I write this. We figured we would try a late lunch. The bartender is Kara or Tara. When I came out of the bathroom, I asked her to put on the Red Sox game. She snapped at me and said It's already on. Then she approached us asking for a drink order. I said I'm ok but can we start with the calamari. She said Stop. I'm asking for a drink order. I have to make some cocktails and I'll come back to you for a food order I've NEVER had a server snap at me and tell me to stop. What's the difference between me ordering a cocktail or me ordering an appetizer. I've worked in the service industry for over 20 years. I would never ever speak to a guest like that. She ignored us the whole time. Never followed up to see if we needed anything or asked how the food was. We won't be back. What's sad is we loved this place last year. This was once a GREAT restaurant. The new owners have ruined it. I gave them two chances. Once in the summer, and once last week. The food quality stinks now. Once A+, now a C at best. They also took away all of the high end alcohol. I am assuming this is a money making decision. This was a staple for us. Every time we visited. On a recent trip to Martha's Vineyard, we found Rockfish as a great place for lunch so decided to give it a try. We were greeted by the bartender, Peter, who provided fantastic customer service. We were thinking about ordering the Lobster Roll and Peter told us it was a great choice and was it ever. It was by far the BEST LOBSTER ROLL we've ever had! Rockfish is a fun place to go for drinks, snacks or dinner. I have not tried lunch yet but will let you know. I do prefer the upstairs. The bar is better and the atmosphere is what I like. The portions are large and you could almost share the entrees. Pizzas are good, also to share. The chicken wings are spot on. Having been enthusiastic Rockfish fans for many years, thanks to the ambiance, wonderful food/drinks and the friendliness of the staff, we were disappointed last night when, after another great dining experience, we noticed the three-dollar up charge for the large ice cube in my husband's scotch. $3 for ice? This kind of nickel-and-diming is to be expected in other island establishments, not the upscale yet down-to-earth restaurant that is Rockfish. After waiting for nearly an hour to get into this restaurant, we were surprised to see that there quite a few empty tables. I ordered the "special" and my hubs again reprimanded me explaining that it's usually stuff about to go bad that they want to get ride if. Anyway, it was the seared yellowtail dinner. The yellowtail was dark red so my guess is it was Tuna but most yellowtail is light in color..lol. Anyway, he ordered the steamed cod with a pine nut sauce even though I had just explained to the server that I am highly allergic to pine nuts! I thought "hmmmmm" "is he trying to get rid of me?" Anyway the food was brought out pretty quickly (surprising for such a complicated dish but my guess is pre-prepped) His steamed cod was a few small pieces of cod on a mountain.... I repeat a mountain of mashed potato's. When the server explained the special she said my dish was Seared Yellowtail with fingerling potato's and green beans. Odd but ok. My dish came and it was the seared whatever tuna with A MOUNTAIN of mash potato's under it! What?!!!! A few teeny over fried slices of fingerling potato's, green beans, Sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, a few mushrooms and a partridge in a pear tree...... That was the weirdest combination of "stuff" thrown together I have ever seen or tasted. Nothing paired properly except some kind of lemony sauce poured around the dish. They did accidentally serve me the plate with the cod and pinenuts... I pushed that sucker away fast!!! Lol. Not worth the wait. What a disappointment. read more
