My husband and I loved this place! When we walked in, we were welcome to try as many free samples of the flavors as we wanted, and they had an excellent selection of DF and GF ice cream! I got the pink lemonade ice cream and the DF toasted coconut, while my husband got the mint chocolate chip and key lime pie flavors. They seem to switch out the flavors regularly, but they also had flavors like chocolate peanut butter, coffee and dark chocolate, Biscoff, and cookie dough. It's one of those places where you can tell the ice cream is super high quality because they make it in-house and it's wonderful! Besides the amazing ice cream, the place itself was cute! It was very well-lit and clean. We were the only people in the store on the Friday afternoon we went, but we were served very quickly! Wonderfully nice owners. You can tell they put their heart and soul into their business and their product. The ice cream ideas are truly unique, and I appreciated that gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free flavors were clearly noted. The sizing is a little different. The smallest size is one small scoop, and that scoop felt about half the size of what I'd expect from a typical ice cream parlor scoop. Likely why they call it the Poquito. The medium is a bigger scoop with a Poquito on top. And, the large is two bigger scoops with a Poquito on top. It is not that the servings are too small across the board, but the structure makes it harder to feel like you're getting a true single, double, or triple scoop. I tried the strawberry rhubarb cheesecake as the small scoop and the new banana pudding as the bigger one. I'm sad to say both missed the mark for me, but for different reasons. The strawberry rhubarb cheesecake had only hints of each flavor. It came across as sweet cream ice cream. I appreciate apparent natural flavoring, but with strawberry, rhubarb, and cheesecake in the name, I expected at least one of those flavors to wow. The flavors need to come through more clearly. The banana pudding had an initial burst of authentic banana flavor, but as I continued eating, the texture detoured off. This had a heavy, mouth-coating finish that stuck to the roof of my mouth for several minutes afterward. It felt more waxy than creamy--like I had just eaten a tube of ChapStick. No joke. At a certain point, butterfat richness stops helping the ice cream and starts getting in the way of both the flavor and the texture. There is clearly potential here, and I genuinely believe the owners care deeply about what they are making. But for me, the flavors need to be more pronounced in order to stand out in the ice cream crowd. And, the deluxe-style ice cream needs a cleaner, creamier finish. This seems like a place with good ideas and good people behind it. Maybe other flavors come together better, but the two I tried tasted would not bring me back. read more
