No attention to detail on walls, floors or even the mirror. Patio outside stained everywhere and not just from today. Entrance with windows and ice cream sandwiches seats were also fithy. We got inside and indulged in some sweet, cold treats. We ordered a large serving with three flavors: Mackinac Island Fudge, Raspberry Rendezvous, and Sea Turtle. The Mackinac Island Fudge was rich and decadent, the Raspberry Rendezvous was a perfect balance of tart and sweet, and the Sea Turtle, with its caramel and pecan notes, was simply flavorful. It was delightful and incredibly good! There are many flavors to choose from. The best thing is that you can choose what size do you prefer: small (one flavor), medium (2 flavors), and large (3 flavors)--with a mix and match options of any flavor you want. AMAZING ice cream and atmosphere! The ice cream was so smooth and full of flavor. I'm not sure if it was homemade but it definitely felt like it! Unfortunately the service wasn't great and the girls working seemed like they hated their job. The were sampling the ice cream in front of us, texting on their phones, had their AirPods in and leaning against the counter while the garbage was overflowing to the point where I had to strategically place my garbage so it didn't fall off. I visited on July 11th around 7:25 PM. The variety of flavors was impressive, there were so many fun and unique options to choose from, and the ice cream itself was good. The staff behind the ice cream counter were friendly, attentive, and moved the line efficiently, which I really appreciated. However, the experience at the checkout register brought the visit down a bit. The girl working the register was texting on her phone throughout the entire interaction. She didn't greet me, avoided eye contact, and seemed more focused on her phone than the customer in front of her. Customer service is such an important part of the experience, especially at the register where guests finish their visit. I hope management takes this into consideration, because everything else, especially the flavors and service behind the counter, was really enjoyable. read more

Little themed ice cream shop in Gilbert. For some reason Arizona has quite a few of these, so this was the 3rd or 4th one I've seen. Petersen's is reasonably staffed, and had quite the audience on a Saturday night. Interior design is great for pictures - they even have a mini claw machine right next to one of the tables. Only thing is the ice cream was very sweet - I got the Banana pudding one, and to their credit it tasted exactly like banana pudding. They also are quite generous with portions - a small cup comes quite stacked. Perhaps that was the problem though, because by halfway through I felt like the sugar was too overpowering. Enjoyed the wafer cookie bits and marshmallow fluff they added into the flavor otherwise. read more

This place has exceptional energy, VERY friendly and polite employees, and the cutest stinkin' decorations on every single wall (so if you love taking selfies or group pics, they got you covered!) Before you even go in the building you are greeted with traditional ice cream parlor tables and chairs outside and giant ice cream cone statues. When you enter it's all pink and white with pastels. There are ice cream cones hanging on the ceiling and a bench that looks like an ice cream sandwich. There's also a giant shake cup in the corner and stools at the counter, and pink vinyl booths. I scream for ice cream Just like pizza, there are a ton of options when it comes to ice cream. In downtown Gilbert alone there's probably 3 different places, not including the big chains like Baskin Robbins. I don't really go to Baskin Robbins because I think of it as the McDonald's of ice cream. When I do go out for ice cream I want a smaller place that has better quality ice cream, but also feels like a small mom and pop place from when I was a kid. I haven't tried the other places downtown Gilbert, but I do recommend this place as it has good options and the ice cream is pretty good. read more

Stopped by for dessert last night after eating dinner across the street at Culinary Dropout. I love the old fashioned soda fountain shop feel (the colors, the counter, the stools, etc.)!! They have plenty of flavors to choose from and they make the waffle cones and bowls fresh in-house! I ordered a scoop of cool mint cookie and moose tracks. I love love loved the cookie pieces in the ice cream and the creamy consistency. Moose tracks is usually a go-to flavor when I'm buying at the supermarket, but this was on another level. So rich and creamy and the mix of flavors in every bite was delicious. Hubby got a scoop of butter pecan and when he saw me ordering two he wanted another scoop too. There wasn't enough butter pecan left for another scoop so the employee suggested 2 other flavors that would go well with it and he went with Nana's pudding. Holy crap that flavor was amazing! I would order a scoop of that on its own next time for sure, and he loved the combo with the butter pecan. So excited to find a cute throwback ice cream shop and I can't wait to come back to try other flavors and snag a banana split, root beet float and milkshakes!! read more

We had lunch near the water tower. On a whim we wandered down the street for the promise of ice cream. We had heard there was a shop nearby, and here it was. Upon entering, I was underwhelmed. The selection was limited (maybe 10-12 flavors). To be fair, some of the flavors were unique. But compared to many other shops (like Frost), the selection was relatively small. I also noted that they were overpriced. But, we were here. So we ordered a shake, and two different cups of ice cream. The ice cream was pretty good. Better than most shops like Baskin Robbins. But nothing really special. For the price the portions were small (including the shake). They did have outdoor seating, which was nicer than the indoor seating. Overall, I can't see returning here. It was OK, but not worth the price paid. read more
