The best ice cream shop we have found!

Such a good ice cream shop! The customer service id great too greeted with a "welcome"

I enjoy the nostalgic ice cream parlor vibe and the vast flavor options, however the lack of customer service by the high schoolers working, dirty and sticky tables and floors, and overall lack of cleanliness here is more reasons to not return.

A very cute ice cream in downtown Gilbert. They have lots of variety of flavors to choose from. Definitely stop by to try any of their wonderful flavors! And a very cute ice cream"Instagram" worthy photos to take inside :)

Petersen's is an adorable ice cream shop with plenty of spaces for your aesthetic photos! The price was decent for the size scoop as well. I got just one scoop of Anniversary Cake and I could barely finish it. The flavoring was good and the texture was very creamy. It's similar to Baskin Robins' Icing on the Cake in terms of texture and inclusions. There's a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating in a quaint area of Gilbert. I would definitely stop by again!

Going to Peterson's is a small tradition that has the warmest memories. Whenever we are in Downtown Gilbert we make a point of going to get ice cream. The shop has adorable places to take photos and the ice cream selection is on point. The staff is kind and attentive. I suggested the affogato! Yum!

I scream ICE CREAM--Petersen's Ice Cream! Who would not stop by at this cute ice cream shop with a vibey atmosphere? The human-sized ice cream standing outside the shop makes it undeniably inviting. We got inside and indulged in some sweet, cold treats. We ordered a large serving with three flavors: Mackinac Island Fudge, Raspberry Rendezvous, and Sea Turtle. The Mackinac Island Fudge was rich and decadent, the Raspberry Rendezvous was a perfect balance of tart and sweet, and the Sea Turtle, with its caramel and pecan notes, was simply flavorful. It was delightful and incredibly good! There are many flavors to choose from. The best thing is that you can choose what size do you prefer: small (one flavor), medium (2 flavors), and large (3 flavors)--with a mix and match options of any flavor you want. The servers were friendly and patient enough to wait while we were still deciding which is which among the flavors. Petersen's Ice Cream, originally from Chicago, is famous as one of the best in the Windy City. Here in Arizona, it is making a mark as one of the best dessert spots.

I'm sad I didn't take photos of everyone's ice cream, they made a dent into it by time I paid for them. With that being said, they enjoyed their ice cream and the waffle cones! Very cute fun old fashioned like layout! Very friendly employees ready to serve you when you walk in the door!

Always smells delicious when you walk in. Especially when they are making the waffle cones. I got two scoops and they hit the spot on a very hot September day! There were 3 tables with people at them. I only saw two workers and they were friendly/attentive to everyone who walked in. I love how fresh my cone and ice cream tasted!

It fits inside the Togo cup if you don't finish!!

Always a pleasure coming in here! Glad for the oldies and a new photo spot! Already miss the ice cream sandwich benches :)

The perfect little ice cream shop! I have a friend who visits from Texas and we always have to pop in to Petersen's for a treat when she's here. So many delicious flavors and a nice variety. The shop is PRETTY and PINK and the staff ins very pleasant and delivers samples with a smile. The place was nice and clean with an indoor and outdoor seating area.

Little themed ice cream shop in Gilbert. For some reason Arizona has quite a few of these, so this was the 3rd or 4th one I've seen. Petersen's is reasonably staffed, and had quite the audience on a Saturday night. Interior design is great for pictures - they even have a mini claw machine right next to one of the tables. Only thing is the ice cream was very sweet - I got the Banana pudding one, and to their credit it tasted exactly like banana pudding. They also are quite generous with portions - a small cup comes quite stacked. Perhaps that was the problem though, because by halfway through I felt like the sugar was too overpowering. Enjoyed the wafer cookie bits and marshmallow fluff they added into the flavor otherwise.

One wall of their cute and adorable decor!!!

Ok, when was the last time you've been to a cute ice cream shop? For us, it's been a long time!! This place has exceptional energy, VERY friendly and polite employees, and the cutest stinkin' decorations on every single wall (so if you love taking selfies or group pics, they got you covered!) So many various ice cream flavors and different styles to enjoy your desserts from cones to dish and sundaes!! The prices are a tad on the higher side but it's not Dairy Queen its a cute little ice cream parlor that provides a cute experience, so I'd say the price is reasonable! Thank you for a great time and delicious treats!!

Are there any ice cream options for lactose intolerant customers ? Plant based I.e. oat milk, coconut milk?

I don't think so, however, you should call them to confirm.

It's warm, magical, and the perfect place to get lost in a book. There is also a vintage-style Photo Booth that will print out two photo strips for $5! I also love the story behind this place starting online and growing into a physical bookstore that now carries such a fun variety of books, plus the cutest hip and trendy merch (hats, book pins, shirts, and more). The coffee is good, and their menu is surprisingly extensive. I ordered the cookie butter latte and was genuinely impressed by both the size and the taste. On top of all that, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Whether you're looking to study, find community, or just yap with fellow book lovers, this is such a fun and inviting space!

Be sure to stick around inside to get your coffee. They only bring your order to you if it's a pastry (at least that's what it seemed). It was pretty busy inside when my friend and I went, so we chose some chairs outside. They gave her a number for her pastry and brought it out, but we had to go up to the counter to find our drinks after waiting several minutes and wondering. That all would have been great info to know when ordering initially. Definitely will be returning! Side note: If you're familiar with downtown Chandler, this won't come as a surprise, but since I'm not a Chandler-regular, I was a little surprised at the lack of parking aside from parallel parking just in front of the actual coffee shop. Ended up parking in a free parking garage, but it was a little bit of a walk to the coffee shop from the parking garage.

In addition to the regular entrance, they have a huge garage door access so on nicer days they can open up the seating area for fresh air and more of an outside but inside vibe. Staff were friendly barista hippie types but took a while for them to acknowledge us standing there even though there was no line. Ordered one hot tea and a seasonal coffee drink. Neither were great and their pricing is misleading. For example the seasonal drink was supposed to be $5.89 but was charged $7.65 and the tea was nothing more than a basic tealeaves in hot water. The service is pleasant, the cafe itself is clean and cute, they have a restroom for patrons. But when it comes to pouring a Cortado, they don't know how to do it. It's just some steamed milk dumped on espresso in a paper cup. Any time a barista puts a cap on your cup (paper cups are generally a bad sign, but some are very good, but still not as good as glass cup poured versions) it's clear they intend to hide the lack of microfoam head, the art itself is how you build this drink. I stopped in around 6:00 pm to get some work done before a cycling class. The first thing the cashier told me was that the espresso machines were already shut down and that only hot tea was available. I asked what time the shop closed, and he said 7:00 pm. Since I still had time, I decided to stay and purchased tea. After sitting down, I was told--due to construction--that they would be "locking up soon." I assumed this still meant 7:00 pm. I received my tea around 6:10 pm, and by 6:20 pm I was told they would be locking the doors and turning off the lights. At that point, it felt passive-aggressive and misleading. If I had been told upfront that the shop was closing early, I would not have ordered anything. I specifically asked what time you were closing, and that information was not communicated clearly until after I had already paid. Additionally, if the shop is supposedly open until 7:00 pm, it's confusing why the espresso machines were already turned off at 6:00 pm. As for the tea -- 2/10. I didn't even finish it. I'm sure the coffee may be good, but this is the first time I've been to a coffee shop where the espresso machine was shut down an hour before closing. Lastly, as a study space, it's very limited: only two tables with about eight chairs total. There are outlets, but not nearly enough to support people working. Overall, the lack of clear communication and the rushed, uncomfortable atmosphere made this a disappointing experience.
