My husband and I came on a Sunday thinking we can kill some time before we head out of Gilbert. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to even taste the $14 ice cream we bought. This is nothing against the employee that was working a solo shift on a warm day, however she was not only behind on several orders (including online orders) but she couldn't even issue a refund to us as we waited 30 minutes already and had to leave soon. What was the store manager/owner thinking? By the time we realized she hadn't even started on the orders for the people already sitting at the tables, we started to doubt if we were going to get our ice cream in time. For what it is, the ice cream was very pricey for a regular (small) size. Basically I spent about $14 to just waste our time. The ambiance is nothing special and the tables/seats were not clean. The staff prepares the ice cream in their "show" mixers where they pipe in the liquid Nitrogen to freeze the ice cream! They used to be good. Based on tonight, quality has gone WAY down hill and have started skimping on toppings. Requested a peanut butter ice cream. They charge extra to add PB sauce to vanilla ice cream, the cheapest ice cream to get but same price as others. Now I buy liquid PB in giant tubs on Amazon for $7, so that extra $1 should get you a decent amount of sauce. There was not even enough used for it to taste even a little bit like peanut butter. The texture of the actual ice cream was also something off. It did not taste good at all. I ate 1/3 and threw threat away. My daughter got the S'mores one, and she threw half that away because it was making her sick abc did not taste good. They also made one of them with no line waiting before we even finished paying. Isn't your hype that you make it in front of the guest? For $10 per small cup, you need to do better. This was my birthday treat and it was a complete waste of $25. read more

The service is very poor. Long wait time and you pay for a premium good but you get horrible service with it. The bathroom was in disgusting condition which probably reflects on the state of their kitchen as well. There was hand soap or paper towels and the floor was very dirty. When this was brought to their attention they got angry and closed the bathroom and basically kicked us out and told us to go to a different restaurant to use their bathroom even tho we're not customers at any other place other than theirs very rude and definitely will not be returning. I want to like this so much more because they have so many dairy free options! Located downtown you can grab regular ice-cream in a variety of flavors or do the same flavors with a non dairy base of cashew or coconut ice-cream. The flavor list was quite long and included some fun things like fruity pebbles, salted Carmel, birth cake, and more. You can do a regular cup or cone of get it with a variety of mixtures. THe price is quite a lot at around 8 or 9 dollars for a cup. I wish they offered a small size of just a small scoop. It was disappointing that for the mixins it wasnt clear what was dairy free and what was gluten free. I asked if the mix ins would be dairy free and the worker said yes, but they actually werent. No dairy free whip cream, chocolate, etc. Its okay to not have a dairy free version but dont tell me all mixins are dairy free when I am trying to decide on an order. We were also informed the coconut base was super strong and overpowered the other flavors, why offer other flavors then at all? We opted for the unicorn mixture with a birthday cake iceream and a cashew base with no whipcream. It wasnt anything special and just tasted a bit odd. Last night was the first time we tried this place and it will be our last. It is not because of the staff, they were friendly. It was because of the ice cream, which was so underwhelming for what they charge. Yes, it was creamy, but the flavor wasn't there. Creamistry in downtown Gilbert just looks SO cool from the outside. I don't know if it was the super clean look or the MASSIVE nitrogen tank that drew us inside, but it worked! My bf and I were immediately greeted when we walked into Creamistry. We had never been here before so we needed some time to look at the menu. You pick a base (dairy, vegan, or water-based for sorbets), flavor, and toppings/upgrades. There are almost too many choices! Though, they do have some set menu items if you would prefer to pick out some. I went with a vegan-based, mint-flavored, chocolate fudge-sauced ice cream. It was really fun watching it be iced down in the big mixing containers. My bf got a dairy-based, Sea Salt Caramel-flavored ice cream, with Strawberry Sundae sauce. He enjoyed his! The vegan-based is not your normal scooped, soft serve, or rolled textured ice cream. It has a super-rich mouth feel and is, I would say, in between traditional texture and soft serve. I found it slightly weird but the mint flavor was great! My bf said his was normal texture and he loved it! I know my bf felt the same way. It was fun to try and most kiddos who came in after us seemed to really love the ice cream. I attempt to be vegan sometimes because I want to feel healthier. However, a lot of vegan food is bland or too healthy (like sometimes I want ice cream and not some açaí bowl). What I like about creamistry is that you can basically make any ice cream base vegan. Since they use the liquid nitrogen thing, you can have ice cream that tastes pretty close to the real thing. Two thumbs up. It's a tiny place with like only 5 tables, but it's cool to watch the liquid nitrogen process, especially for little ones who get excited by the excess gas flowing out and making it seem like they have smoke machines on their ice cream machines. Lots of options for flavors and toppings, so you'll find something for everyone here, including those croffles (waffle ice cream, but I have not tried nor have seen anyone else try). It's a bit pricey, but you pay for the experience. I've paid more for a lot more mediocre ice cream (that wasn't vegan) so ultimately I think this is a good place. In short, here are the pros and cons of our experience: Pros: - Ice cream is freshly made (duh) right in front of you with nitrogen so that's really really cool to see! - Taste was good, I particularly liked the texture, it's a little bit sticky almost but oh so creamy. I had the Cookie Monster ice cream, my sister had the S'mores and husband had the Sea Salt Caramel Crunch. We all enjoyed the flavors. Cons: - The service was pretty poor. No one was present when we came in to the store. After a few minutes of us wandering around, a girl finally came out and took our orders; then a random man came in from the front door (we thought it was a customer) but he started making our ice cream instead. Neither one of them really talked to us and really acknowledged us in a friendly way, which really threw us off. After we received the ice cream the guy left the store and the girl that took our orders went to the back and stayed there - we didn't have napkins and were waiting for her to come out but she never did. - This place is super pricey! It's $7.95 for a 5 oz ice cream, which is their signature creations that they are known for and includes the ice cream and toppings in it. The cost for their regular sized ice cream flavor (no toppings) is $6.95 so for a $1 difference, it makes sense to get their signature creation. Overall, I wasn't really impressed. Who's the manager on duty that likes to come out from the back of the store and yell at customers that there are too many people inside the store? The lady in white t-shirt has been working her ass off to make everything for 17 people total (just took a head count) it's July 18th at 8:25pm. the manager that is yelling at people to wait outside with out any head counts taken. We have come here countless of times. The wait times are always mad and never make sense.
