Rocklands Farm Winery was our wedding reception venue. We originally booked it for April 2020, but with COVID throwing a wrench into our plans we re-scheduled to May 2021. Janis was so sweet and understanding during the whole planning process. We worked with their preferred caterer (Simply Fresh) and everything was seamless. The venue is absolutely beautiful, with a rustic silo/ barn to hold the reception indoors or the large yard adjacent to it for outdoors. We originally planned to have the reception in the barn and cocktail hour in the yard - but last minute (literally a few days before) changed it to be outdoors in the lawn (tented) to accommodate more guests due to the COVID restrictions. Everything was seamless and it looked gorgeous. Rocklands has such great scenery if you're looking for the rustic/ farmhouse and nature theme for your wedding. The photos come out beautiful and full of greenery. You do need to order wine from Rocklands for your event, so we chose one red, one white, a rose and a cider. All of them were big hits! I'd definitely return to enjoy a wine tasting. read more

Traveling out to Rocklands farm from the district is a treat in of its self. Rocklands has a winery and tasting. I had the Cabernet sauvignon blend. It's made if 20% grapes from Rocklands and 80% from Maryland local farms. It was fantastic and served at the right temperature. The market has some cheeses and cold cuts. Live music is provided outside. Outside seating is cordoned off and there is an adult area only. But kids were abundant and welcomed and easily entertained. The food alternates outside. The day we went there were sausages and hot dogs (beef, pork and vegan). All can be topped with local ingredients. Blankets are provided for you to throw down and relax. You can take a walk around the extensive gardens. It felt like I was in Toledo or Avignon. Service: self busing. Restrooms: port a potty. read more

My friends and I visited Rocklands this past Saturday, 10/10/20. The grounds are what I would describe as "rustic chic". It looked really pretty with the little lights set up around the perimeter of the property. We bought the SpringHouse and set up a picnic in the grassy area in front of the main house. We didn't have an opportunity to really explore the grounds because the place was packed, but we had a great time and will return, hopefully during the week when there are less people. They had decent bathroom facilities available and most people visiting Rocklands were wearing their masks and respecting social distance as best as they could, considering how big the crowd was. Wonderful atmosphere and service. I enjoyed a flight, and brought my own snacks. My friend purchased a charcuterie board and crackers which I would not recommend, as it was minimal and pricey. Beautiful place. I live 10 mins away and didn't know this place existed. Plenty of outdoor seating with benches. A little lake with geese, ducks and turkeys around. Very friendly hosts. We went in the afternoon on a weekday so there was plenty of seating. We met the family that owruns the farm/vineyard. Super nice ! The kids were kind enough to show my kids the chickens and the baby chicks. My little one had never see one!! Suburban life!! So glad we found this place. read more

My friends and I went here to celebrate my birthday and to have a picnic. There wasn't any wine tasting but we were able to sample some wine before purchasing the bottles. Seating at the tables are first come first serve. When we arrived the last table was taken but it was fine because we brought blankets and chairs just in case. I suggest bringing a small table if you do this. We did not have one but will have one next time! We hung out for five hours. The time flew by! There were a lot of people there FYI, so if you want to get a table you may want to get there a little bit before opening time, noon, to ensure you get one. Either way we still had a great time. Everyone who work there were so accommodating and kind. The bathrooms are porter potty's but top notch porter potties lol. The woman's have had three stalls and was very clean. The men's bathroom, I think, just had two. I will definitely go again! read more

Perfect place to go if you're looking for a scenic view. The tables are appropriately spaced apart so that you don't feel too crowded. The wines are pricier than linganore but they offer a nice selection that most people would enjoy. It is a fantastic location, for family picnic and events. Good wine and had good food (I believe it was a pop up food cart) I had their mix meat and seafood paella was great, not sure it is a reactor thing they have but a great location. Have multiple different places to sit and enjoy your time. Have Adults only area and Have place for kids as well. I love country side and something that close to us in Montgomery County is just amazing. I like their cider. A good experience. Only downside I could say is the wine tasting is bit expensive, have been to several wineries but their tasting is expensive although staff was very good and helpful to taste the wine you are interested in buying. This is the most unique winery I've been to and it amazed me. It's a must to visit if you're in the area. The day we went we had a tasting, red and white, and Authentic food from Argentina (food vendor outside). The only thing missing was a pre-made charcuterie board but they had a vast amount of cheese and meat options. I believe all the meat is locally sourced! read more

A beautiful place to visit - we ordered summer & fall flights. Their white wines were really good (try Graze!). They have food trucks where you can order pizza, paella, cheese plater, and desserts. Food was pretty nice (loved pumpkin flan!). The staff were very friendly and they constantly cleaned the tables. Make sure to get there early to reserve a table. This place is awesome!! I did a wine tasting with a friend today and it was great! I'm not a huge wine drinker but I enjoyed 3 of the 6 wines I sampled. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They also have a wine club that seems really affordable. The place is large with plenty parking and indoor and outdoor seating. I find this to be an issue at other vineyards I've visited. They also have a couple of vendors on the property selling brick oven pizza and sweet treats (cookies) for those who want more than a cheese platter. They are kid friendly and I saw a few pets although I also saw a sign that said "no pets." Not sure. My pup would never enjoy it so I wouldn't. Call ahead to ask. The view is absolutely amazing!! Even the drive there was beautiful! I'm glad I found this spot, I'll definitely return. read more

Had a wonderful visit and look forward to returning! Visited at the end of June and as this was my first 'dine in' experience since COVID-19, I was very hesitant and approached with the attitude of, let's check it out, if there's anything even remotely unsafe, we'll leave. I could not have been put more at ease. Staff were all properly masked. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and staff were very careful to not put groups too near each other. There was an outdoor bar but even the indoor market and wine tasting area was well organized with only a few people allowed in at a time, one-way traffic, etc. This is a working farm and the market offers charcuterie and snacks but also a huge selection of fresh frozen meats. There was a food truck on premises for those looking for a full meal. The wines I tried were very pleasant, not the overly sweet schlock popular at many Maryland wineries. Not all wines are available by the glass but there was a nice variety. The sparkling red really hit the spot on a hot day. It was very thoughtful that they were distributing free bottled water on such a scorcher! Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and the grounds are beautiful. I am giving 4 out of 5 stars because, while I don't mind paying for quality, the price points were high enough to keep me from buying more and visiting more often; and because of their overly aggressive email marketing! If I didn't want to check you out on Facebook on July 4th, I probably still wasn't in a huge rush to do it on July 9th teehee, as an example (oh, and I don't use Facebook). read more

We love Rocklands. The staff is always nice and responsive, whether in person or via email. They try real hard and it shows. They do delivery of wines and sell for onsite and offsite consumption. The facility is real nice. With physical distancing needed, they've got plenty of tables. You can bring your own chairs and blankets. When you first enter, they have staff greeting you with hand sanitizer. Their Cellar Club is also real nice. You can pick whichever level you want to get wine on a quarterly basis. On most weekends, they have a food truck or caterer. Parking has never seemed to be an issue. read more

This place is a beautiful farm/winery. Came here on a Saturday with a few friends and we spent all afternoon talking and drinking. I really like how Rocklands has more table seating than I've seen at other wineries. The bathrooms were also very clean even though they were outdoors. The wine tasting here is fantastic (6 wines for $12). The staff here are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. After our wine tasting experience, we decided to purchase a few bottles to share, our favorites being the Honey Blossom and the Chardonnay. The farm provides wine chillers and plenty of snacks to purchase if you'd like. It seems like they bring in outside vendors for food. When we were there, there was a BBQ tent selling brisket platters and pulled pork BBQ "sundaes." The food was good but pricey so I'd suggest bringing your own food or eating beforehand. read more

My wife and got married at Rocklands at the end of 2021, right before their pause is hosting weddings. While visiting Rocklands in November 2023, we were excited to hear they would be resuming hosting weddings next year. We wanted to share our experience with having our weddings at Rocklands. Planning for and executing a successful wedding is stressful; Rocklands made it seamless. During our initial search for venues we sent out several inquiries to venues on their respective websites, emails etc. Within 5 minutes of us submitting our inquiry to Rocklands, the owner, Janis Glenn, called and took the time to outline the details of hosting a wedding at their venue, and answered all our specific questions. What stood out to us right away was the tailored experience we would be offered. At the time, they only hosted one wedding per weekend. This allowed for us to have the option to host our rehearsal dinner on site the night prior, we could use a private house on the property the morning of the wedding to get ready, and access to what seemed like an endless supply of rustic/farm centric props for decorations and pictures. Our schedule was not dictated by another weddings hosted the same weekend. If you opt to have the ceremony on-site, they have a large field available, with their beautiful farm property in the foreground. We were given the opportunity to tour the property with Janis, and were given a tasting to choose which wines we would offer our guests. Closer to the wedding, we were also allowed to tour the property with our photographer. We opted to use their on site catering partner "Simply Fresh", who had their own on-site kitchen and had worked in partnership with Rocklands for many years to host weddings. For flowers, we used SunGold Flower Company, who grew their beautiful flowers on Rocklands Property. We have to admit, we were at first hesitant to use the offered on-site catering and flower service, feeling maybe they had a monopoly and we could maybe find a better price point or provider elsewhere; we were wrong. Choosing a full service catering and flower provider who had hosted probably hundreds of weddings at the venue was a no brainer. Rocklands, Simply Fresh, and SunGold all had competitive pricing, with various packages available. Following our wedding, we didn't anticipate how much we would enjoy returning to Rocklands as customers. Janis and her husband Greg still remember us and take their time to catch up while still running the business. We are happy to hear other couples will be able to host their weddings starting next year, we hope this review helps! read more

The experience was definitely a mixed bag. While the setting itself is cute and great for a photo op, the service itself is a bit confusing and stressful. It's unclear where to go to actually purchase wine upon entering, and the line for seating is oddly before the line to get wine, so in reality you have to go PAST the seating line and get wine first, then go backward and get in line for seating. They could definitely benefit from better signage. Once we figured out where to go for the wine, we went in to order 2 flights. The server pouring the wines was terse and gruff, and didn't label the wines nor give us any explanation. We asked her which they were and she told us to take a picture of the menu and try to match them. We were also given 3 full sized wine glasses to carry down the hill- would have been nice to have mini glasses or some kind of carrier for the flights. They also say no dogs, but there were a bunch roaming around the (very busy) parking lot- no fault of the winery, as this could have just been people who were later turned away for having dogs, but it did make for a chaotic scene. Overall it felt like kind of an inside club where everyone else knew what was going on, but as first timers it was a bit of a disconcerting mess. TLDR: there's wine and it's cute, but it's stressful and confusing. read more

Rocklands Farm has definitely become one of my favorite wineries in the area. First off, their proximity cannot be beat and is actually a little bit dangerous (18 minutes from where I live). The biggest plus about Rocklands Farm is truly the people and the events they host. I enjoy the variety of live music they have. Additionally, the staff knows the wines (and isn't afraid to check with another staff member to get a question answered). The wine selection is consistently changing which makes coming back repeatedly all the more fun. Rocklands also hosts different events such as "wine camp" and barrel tastings. Onto the wines. As a reminder, in my winery reviews, I don't judge the "stars" based on taste of wines (unless something is totally off). I enjoy the wines here as they are one of the few MD wineries who makes dry wines. Their pinot noir is one of my favorites and it stands up to some well known pinot noirs from other areas. A quick bonus to this winery - they also sell farm fresh eggs, meats, and local cheeses. The eggs are amazing and have a ton of flavor. I can't speak to the meat as I haven't tried them. However, the goat cheeses and raw milk cheeses are a rare treat. read more

A place where I can drink wine and my son can run around and have fun too?! Yes, please! I love wine and coming from San Francisco, I've been spoiled with so many amazing wineries in the Bay Area. I prefer reds and I haven't found many I like that are made here on the East Coast, until trying some at this winery! Their Rockridge Pinot Noir and Farmhouse reds are very good! We've visited on warm days so while there, I've opted for Rosé, which is also so delicious or their Honey Blossom; I don't usually love whites, but this one is absolutely perfect on a warm day. Not only is the wine good, but the grounds are gorgeous, it's kid-friendly and the staff is welcoming and helpful. You can bring and beverages, with the exception of alcohol. We packed picnics both time, but the pizza they sell on weekends looks great! For those with food allergies, they don't use eggs in the dough and you can get it without cheese. I'm so happy this place exists and I can't wait to go back! read more

The grounds are very pretty and the port a pottie bathroom is air conditioned. They have separate seating sections for adults and kids which is nice. We got a bottle of the Medley District sparkling red which was a little too dry for me. It was given to us in a "cooler" that was barely cold, they should either put the containers in the freezer or put ice in it. I also tried their dessert wine, the blackberry Bramble and felt it missed the mark. The ladies serving in the tasting room on Sunday were very friendly. The winery opens at 11am but the artisan pizza Brama doesn't open until 12. That means a long line formed right at opening time. I think they should consider opening earlier so it doesn't create this rush at opening. We all ordered white pizzas, which is in a separate section of their menu labeled White Pizza, yet for each of us ordering we were asked "did you know this is a white pizza" yes we do (rolled eyes). I got the mushroom pizza which the menu said had celery greens, but it was actually a pesto in the sauce that made the pizza very bitter I thought. This is right across the street from the McKee Beshers Wildlife Management Area where we went to see the sunflower fields. read more

The staff is warmly welcoming, always standing by to answer questions about the wine and their food. Yes, the food they market. I wish I could give 2.5 stars. I brought my friend here after visiting another nearby winery and the vibe and experience at Rocklands Farm just couldn't compare. My friend and I did a tasting, we learned about the place but also listened to the employee mispronounce Chambourcin a few times and it was a very awkward encounter. We asked questions and got short confusing answers...for example we asked if dogs were allowed on the property outside and the answer we were told was "sometimes"...without an explanation. During our tasting there were two other employees who were behind the counter drinking and eating which seemed very unprofessional. After our tastings, we picked out some food and bought a bottle to enjoy outside. They did have a food vendor who was prepping to serve people at 5:00pm. I didn't want to drink wine with just cheese and crackers but it was not close to 5pm at all. You can bring your own food, which is what I will do if I return. The bathrooms were extremely nice. They had the portable restrooms that are in a trailer you would find at a wedding...but the more upscale AIR CONDITIONED ones, which we greatly appreciated on the hot summer day. The wine was good, not many food choices, unsettling staff and professionalism ... maybe we went on an off day. It was a weekday. But overall it seemed like a very snobby business and didn't make us feel comfortable at all. read more

Went to Rocklands as an add on to Homestead Farm visit. There was no one in line for tasting, but staff insisted that we follow the circular line to get to the wine tasting bar. The staff member was either disinterested or not knowledgable other than the elevator speech about the flights, but was very interested in ringing us up and moving us along. We each bought a different flight. Nothing stood out other than the cost. Would not return. read more

With a newborn there really aren't too many events we can attend. Rocklands has Friday night live music, and they say it family friendly.... so we thought we would give it a try. As we arrive the parking was a little confusing, but spots were available. We walked over to the area in front of the tasting room and set up our stroller and blanket next to the fence. It was great... many families were out on the lawn and even a few infant/ toddler aged kids. The music was easy to hear, but didn't ruin conversations. After setting up I went to the tasting room to purchase an Annie's rose. The staff were polite and helpful. Paid for my wine and sat on my blanket enjoying the late afternoon turning to dusk. After a bit we walked over and got a wood fire pizza and cookies. They were super delicious and paired well with the wine. As the dusk was turning to night, we packed up and left.
