I'm intolerant to both gluten & dairy, so tried doing a little research before our road trip thru GJ. While this restaurant didn't show up on any of my allergen-dining apps, it was across the street from our hotel so we figured it was worth a shot. I packed in my own gfcf bun, assuming i'ld at least be able to get a naked burger...which I could've done, but instead was happy to be able to order the fish tacos (without cheese or sauce.) The waitress was able to help me with safe substitutions which wouldn't result in an upcharge. The salsa was smoky and yummy. The pieces of fish were way too big for the tiny tortillas but at least they were double layered (important for corn tortillas which easily mush out.) They definitely were not the best fish tacos I've had but were a nice change from standard road-trip food on a special diet. As for the non-GFCF diners in our party... My hubby had been craving chicken fried steak for about 50 miles. They happened to have it on the menu, so he gladly ordered it. It was ok but nothing special. He thought it tasted like it might have been frozen. He also ordered their IPA, allowing the waitress to talk him into the 22oz instead of a pint. He barely drank 1/2 because it was so bitter. My kids (3 & 5) each had a kids meal. Drinks were not included, which was annoying since the tiny cups of kid milk ended up being $2ea. The cheeseburger was an adorable slider with a huge plate of curly fries. The spaghetti & meatballs was a huge pile of sauce on skinny spaghetti with 2 meatballs. Both portions were way too big for my littles so I'd suggest splitting 1 kids meal if you have kiddos as little as mine. In all, I think I enjoyed my meal more than those without the food allergies and we probably would try another place next time we're in town but I appreciated the option of a non-chain restaurant with a safe option for my dinner. read more

This restaurant may look like "just another brew pub", but it's so much more! They have a menu FULL of delicious entrees! My husband ordered the chicken fried chicken with garlic potatoes and he hasn't stopped talking about it. He said it was the best CFC and mashed potatoes he's ever had! The potatoes were mashed with fresh garlic and I also thought they were delicious. We each had a good beer to pair with our meals as well. If you're a craft beer drinker, it's worth trying a couple! Surprisingly, they were not too busy for a Saturday afternoon and we were seated to a table right away. Highly recommend eating here! read more

I love it when a brewery has great beer AND great food. And that's the case with Rockslide Brewery. My husband and I stopped in on our way through Grand Junction. I started with a Cold Shivers pale ale, which was just so-so, but my husband picked a winner in the Wrangler IPA, which was delish! (He had two, and I switched to that for my follow-up.) I had the bison burger, which was cooked perfectly and topped with braised onions and tons of blue cheese. It's nice that they offer a low-carb option with a thinner bun, which is what I chose. Had a wedge side salad that was pretty good, but it cost $1 extra although that wasn't noted on the menu. ("All burgers & sandwiches are served with your choice of soup, salad, fries or sweet potato wedges.") My husband had the daily special, which was turkey, ham, and cheddar on ciabatta garnished with olives, pepperoncinis, and balsamic reduction. Well balanced and flavorful, and his garden salad came free of charge. All in all, it was a great experience that I would recommend to any local or traveler passing by. And if you're not hungry, at least slide on in for a tasty brew or two! read more

Lunch here today. We have had great meals in the past, however, today was different. I had the steak salad with double meat and when it arrived, the lettuce was mushy. The steak was great, but I did order a salad not oatmeal. My wife's salad (the crispy chicken) had maybe a half cup of greens. Remember, she ordered a salad so shouldn't there be a substantial amount of lettuce or spinach? We won't be back. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

Rockslide Brew Pub showed support and love to the community by donating growlers of their Big Bear Oatmeal Stout, Horsethief IPA and Cold Shivers Pale Ale to a Thanksgiving fundraising dinner benefiting The Access Fund. Their beer was genuinely delicious - I loved the lightness of the Stout (not too syrupy) and the sharp, fresh bite of the hops in their Horsetheif IPA. During the dinner, I saw people finish their first beer and come back, donating more than they initially did because they loved the beer and wanted not just a second pint, but multiple more pints. It is safe to say that not only did Rockslide act as a strong community partner through their donation, but the tastiness of their beer helped us raise even more money than we would have otherwise. I struggle with how many stars to give. Love the rockslide and have been coming there for years. Came in to watch the bronco game. Nate was bartending. He is always wonderful Great service. I have never seen the guy who came for shift change. Jordan I think. We ultimately left because of him. We sat for forty five minutes with zero service. I know where he lives. The football teams he likes and everyone he doesn't like because all he did was talk about himself and to staff. He did ZERO WORK. zero. For the better part of an hour. It's very clear that Jordan is super impressed with himself and loves to hear the sound of his own voice. However pouring a drink and asking people if they need anything should probably be part of the daily grind for Jordan. Suggestion for Jordan. Spend an hour with your mirror before coming to work. And then show up ready to actually work. If I walk in the door and he's working I'll trim around and walk out going forward. Please go to the rockslide. It's great. Rockslide. Service is awesome!!! They sat us immediately and were very attentive. Beers are great and pretty unusual. Try the raspberry wheat. It's very flavorful. Food-wise it's good, not great. The calamari was very good and came with an interesting sauce. The fish and chips totally threw us. It's salmon. It was ok. The food was cooked well and everything but using salmon instead of something like cod...I feel like the breading should have been sweeter to match the salmon? Or maybe saltier? We have eaten at Rockslide numerous times over many years and not experienced any issues with them. Today my husband ordered my drink and food, since I was coming from work and we have limited time. They would not bring any of the items out until I arrived. The waitress seemed to be a bit upset that he asked for my items. Then I arrive with my dog expecting to have a nice lunch. We typically eat on their patio when eating with them and take our dog with us, we have done so 10-15 times at least. Not once has anyone said a word about our dog being a problem. Today they randomly decided that dogs are not allowed on the patio after a history of allowing them. They do not have any signs etc saying no dogs allowed. While we understand that they have the right to make this decision, we do not agree with an inconsistent application of the "policy". We will not be back for this reason. read more

Came in on a Friday looking to eat after a long day. I came here several times ~1 year ago and got some of the best food I'd had in the state, but this day was the most mediocre meal I think I have ever had. I don't even have much to complain about, it just wasn't good. Pretty much on par with what you would expect from an upper end microwave dinner. I informed the waiter who was very pleasant & apologetic, he removed half the bill and asked me to return the next day to try another dish and give them another chance. I am under 21, and Saturday after driving 25 minutes out of my way just to give them another chance I walk in the door just to be greeted by a very rude man who asks aggressively for my ID. I told him I am not there to drink, just to have dinner. He breaks me off mid sentence and tells me they don't do just meals after 10 PM and I have to get out. None of the search results or pages for this location list this fact, also this was after the host the day before had tried to seat me at the bar without an ID check. Every other bar/restaurant in the area I called said I didn't need an ID just to eat and they would make accommodations for me. I held off on a review to try it again, but as I sit here irritated, hungry, and nearly an hour out of my way I cannot recommend this place. read more

I just moved back to Grand Junction, and i am from here. I can tell you the really bad service from the waitress is not what ticked me off so much, it was the sickening aftertaste of the chips and guacamole. As well as the what tasted like jarred salsa. The waitress never brought my silverware. And when we were getting our credit card back from paying waitress very sarcastically said " you have a wonderful evening. Only go here if you like terrible service, clearly poor management, and food that looks like this. In other words, just don't do it - you'll thank me later. We arrived and got on the waitlist specifically for an outdoor table. After 20 minutes we were called for a table - except they wanted to seat us at the bar, indoors, with kids. And I reminded them we were waiting for an outdoor table. So then we waited an additional 40 minutes, until a table outside became available. The kicker is, there was a lady who walked in right as I had walked in and complained she didn't want to wait any longer for a table and so they happy seated her outside at a table that I could only assume was initially meant for us. There were about 5 people (including a manager) at the host stand and not a single one of them seemed to know what they were doing. After we were finally seated we realized the table was dirty, which is just LOVELY... especially considering the current COVID guidelines - so FYI this restaurant is not complying as the tables are not being cleaned in between customers!!!! So THEN.... we continued. We placed our order and the drinks and food came, our server was clearly being overworked running from table to table, she was not friendly, rolled her eyes at us when we asked questions, and took forever. There was clearly too much on her plate but she didn't have to be so rude to us, we were being patient with her even though everything took FOREVER, and she forgot several items and also brought us the wrong bill. Note to management - figure your stuff out, don't have one person working the whole patio on busy hours, coach your team on how to seat people effectively, and perhaps hire people who don't have rude attitudes toward customers.
