Comparable to Boiling Crab, like most people say, but definitely a + for being closer for Riverside folks. With that said, I'd still like to point out that they don't season their food the same way Boiling Crab does. It's definitely a little lighter than Boiling Crab, not that it's a bad thing. I can imagine some would prefer that over the strong flavor of BC, but I actually crave the extremely salty, spicy goodness of Boiling Crab over Rockstar Shrimp's "lighter" version. Service was good, and nothing was noticeably wrong during my visit. + for no line compared to the atrocious Boiling Crab line during rush hour. It did seem like a coupley place for some reason. Not sure why. Other than my party, it appeared to be date night for every other table. Still delicious and has a nice environment though. Very satisfying. A little gem in Riverside without the drive out to OC. The price is reasonable. Good selection on beverages and sides. The sauce flavoring is great and on point. The shrimp and crawfish fresh and decent in size. Will be returning for my next craving. The only bad thing was the bathrooms. The odor was pretty bad with a mixture of sewage/poo and vomit. Essentially, Rockstar Shrimp is Boiling Crab, but in Riverside. Since I live in Moreno Valley, there's no need to ever go all the way out to Diamond Bar to get B.C. thanks to R.S. It may have a little less variety in seafood, but I've come to the realization that I always enjoy the shrimp the most anyways, so R.S has everything I need. I always have a great meal and time at this place. I wouldn't come unless you like to get a little messy though. I have been to boiling crab and have always gotten the shrimp and decided to try this place since I live on campus at UC Riverside and it takes me about 5 minutes to get here. I ordered my food to go and I got the 1 pound of shrimp ($11) and side of Cajun fries ($3) and it was delicious. The woman said it would take about 10 minutes for it to be ready and it was already bagged in 5 minutes. I didn't ask for any of these thing but in the bag she had already packed: salt and pepper, lemon, ketchup, tons of napkins, wet towels, and bibs. It was awesome and plus the food was amazing. It was the evening of January 22nd, 2014 when two friends and I decided to grab some shrimp for dinner when the friendliest server was working. It was empty and she was the only one but I haven't received service like that in a long time, and it actually seemed genuine. So thank you for that kind server. Now onto the food, the flavoring is very delicious and sauce is generous compared to their Boiling Crab counterpart. I usually stay clear of the mussels and clams because it's all weight but the the shrimp was cheap, the corn was deliciously sweet, and their chicken wings were perfectly seasoned. I really love this place! The food is great, the experience is great, and the service is (usually) great! Twice now I've gone to my local favorite place to eat, though, and they've rejected my Mastercard (debit AND credit card - I am absolutely certain this in not a card issue specific to my card/account). They told me they recently updated their system and it's not accepting some people's cards. I gave them a month or more to fix it after my first visit and they rejected the card again on my recent second visit. My friend has had to cover me twice now - not cool. I've been to similar types of restaurants in the LA and OC area, including Boiling Crab, and this is the best! The sauce is so flavorful and rich that other places seem bland in comparison. They cook their shrimp perfectly so that they remain succulent compared to other places who seem to overcook them leaving them dry and chewy. The Cajun fries are also my favorite because they are skinny cut and they pile them high. The servers are always nice and attentive, even when I manage to come in 30 minutes before closing. Don't like posting bad things but this has to be done. For what I paid I should have gone back to complain in person, but it was too far to go back. The shrimp was not fresh it was way over cooked and old (the skin was stuck to the shrimp) the sausages were way over cooked they tasted horrible ( I had to spit them out) and the corn was also old and over cooked. Gross. My husband and I went to Rockstar Shrimp this weekend for dinner. The service was good and our waitress was really sweet. The food, however, was just gross. If it wasn't for their great customer service I would have rated this lower. The sauce here lacks flavor by a long shot. The portions was small for me and for all of my friends who were with me. The seasoning in the bag was weak and didn't have enough garlic. It looked like a pool of oil to be honest and maybe it was just chili oil that I was tasting. I also got a corn in the bag and I didn't like it since it was too hard and did a poor job of sucking in the shrimp juices like how boiling crab's corn absorbs the sauces in the bag. Also I ordered a side of veggie egg rolls. Is it bomb? Heck no. The eggrolls sucked. It tastes just like those crappy egg rolls you get at chinese buffets or a bad batch of panda veggie egg rolls. The price is good i guess but it doesn't matter if it is not good. Maybe my standards for egg rolls are too high, but there is nothing to rave about these egg rolls. They are the plain and rivals only those that you get at buffets. But the shrimp is the main attraction of this place and it did not meet my expectations. Well Rockstar Shrimp is located right off the freeway near UCR, their prices are AMAZING and the food is EXCELLENT! A normal boiling crab (or the bucket (which closed down BTW)) costs me and my Finance around $35 for a pound of shrimp, fries, drinks and a corn for me. Here we got 1 pound of shrimp, two sodas, chicken wings (these were a little weird), fries and a corn for me for less than $40 with the tip! We just can't wait to go back here! The woman who served us was very friendly and stayed on top of her game even though she was the only server in the place. I recommend going as soon as they open though because it got busy fast.
