I wish I tried this place earlier! I've been going to Boiling crab to get my cajun seafood craving satisfied since I'm originally from that area but that is one hell of a drive from here. I shared two lbs of kick me shrimp ( their medium spice) which was about 30 pieces and an order of their cajun fries which was perfect for the two of us. Fries were definitely worth the price you pay for them, both in flavor and in quantity while the shrimp was great dipped in the "broth". A bib isn't enough to stay clean and untouched by the oily spicy sauce the seafood is swimming in. After ordering a little of everything i realized you need to departmentalize the offering. Clams in one bag, mussels in another, shrimp and crab legs separated. If you don't its very hard to separate all the offerings. The flavor was good, but the mussels and clams where in my opinion over cooked . It wouldn't hurt to have some utensils and a crab cracker to make the food easier to eat. I've been here a few times and I must say that for a Boiling Crab knock-off, it is actually pretty good. I have never waited in line because I go early but I can see how people complain about the long wait time because the place isn't that big. Basically there is wax paper on the table and the server brings your food out in bags which you eat with your hands. FOOD I always get the shrimp with "Be Gentle" or "Kick Me". I find "Be Gentle" to not be spicy enough and "Kick Me" to be a little too spicy. But of course, it differs every time. The shrimp is actually pretty darn delicious and to be honest there isn't THAT much difference compared to Boiling Crab. However, the shrimp size is definitely smaller than Boiling Crab's. I usually get 2 pounds of shrimp just because I feel like 1 pound won't be enough. I also get the cajun fries which comes in an overflowed plate. There is PLENTY for everyone to share. Price wise, everything is about the same as Boiling Crab. SERVICE I have never had bad service here. But like I said, it could be because I go at a non-busy hour. The waiter takes our order after a few minutes of being seated, and the food comes out shortly after. Definitely a place I would keep going back to especially since Riverside is limited in good restaurants. Now I really don't want to bash this pl since I've only eaten here once.. but I just can't help but feel my opinion won't change much if I do manage to find myself here again.. My shrimp was overcooked & there was just no flavor in the shrimp. I find that odd since I always get the one that has ALL the flavors at this type of pl; whatever it may be called here. I find it very odd that the sauce was sort of watery (?) yet was extra oily too! Now I know that oil is to be expected at this type of pl but I somewhat think the watery-ness of the sauce contributes to the not so flavorful shrimp. I do love their fries tho; they were the perfect amount of seasoning & crisp! Also pretty decent service here too. The girl who served my boyfriend & I checked on us a few times for refills & such but wasn't annoying. There were quite a few parties; yet we still weren't forgotten, which I appreciate! Not impressed in the least bit. I love these Cajun seafood in a bag places, but it's hard to find one that makes an amazing sauce, which is what makes the food. For now I'll have to travel to San Diego to Crab Hut until I find a replacement in the IE because this place isn't it! There sauce has a very odd after taste. It's not nasty, just odd. The shrimp are a descent size as were the crab legs. The sausage Id bet is not andouille, it's was more of a mushy smoked sausage. Secondly, during this Covid crisis and just about everything has to be take out, I think it's imperative that restaurants ensure your order is correct, especially if they are unable to issue a partial refund of any kind over the phone. I ordered 2 bags of food. One with a lb of sausage and the other without. With the content being in such a dark sauce it's hard to see all the items in the bag. I get home after my 40 minute round trip drive just to see neither bag had sausage. It's only $8 but it's my $8 and my order was almost $90. I call and the girl says you can come back in and we'll have it for you. I don't want to come back please just issue a refund for the $8. That can't happen either without my going back in and refunding the entire amount and recharging the new price. This annoys me so she says she'll call the manager or owner to see if there's other options. She calls back and says they can give me the sausage and a free pound of shrimp at no additional charge if I come back that day. I did return that evening and they honored it and I do appreciate it but I'd rather had not had to make another 40 minute trip and my order be correct the first time or implement a way to refund your card without returning. read more

Never again! I'm completely done with this place. Everything that made this place great is gone. The last couple of times I've ordered from here have been a complete disappointment. First they the started watering down the sauces. Then I was getting no sauce, just a splash of the new watered down recipe. This last and final time I picked up a pound of shrimp with half a pound of sausage, I had trouble finding the shrimp(7small pc for $20). i was really looking forward to the cajun food at this restaurant based off the reviews. however i was irrevocably disappointed. it was as if the chef only used pepper to season all foods, the sauce inside my shrimp bag was bland and pepper-y and my rice tasted like plastic because it was served in a styrofoam bowl. a plate of limes and lemons were brought out but that couldn't even help give it flavor. i forced myself to finish my food. would never return and do not recommend. i really wish i could ask all these people who gave 5 star reviews what they ordered. service was good though. read more

It's worth it to drive to Boiling Crab. This place sells frozen Shrimps. The meat sticks to the shell. The flavor is not even as good. Their corn is not drenched in the sauce. The Shrimp they order are the dirtiest shrimps I've seen with black intestines. read more

My Breakdown: service: 4 stars -excellent service. waitress was very attentive and nice. cleanliness: 3 stars -paper cover for the table was quite thin, so when I put my ketchup on the table, it almost seems like it would bleed through. food: 2 stars - fried oyster was too starchy, shrimp was fresh BUT the sauce needs work, a lot of work. normally, this type of cajun sauce would go tremendous with rice and my corn, but this sauce was almost flavorless. Its a good place to eat with big portions at reasonable prices. Not the best seafood I've ever had but not bad either. Its very messy because they serve the food in a plastic bag coated in heavy seasoning, and its on YOU to dig it out and plate it yourself. I used a lot of napkins and wet naps...similar to the aftermath of eating BBQ ribs with your hands. You choose the level of seasoning for most of the food. I tried the sampler called "a lil bit of everything'' clams, mussels, shrimps. It tasted fine but the seasoning was in the form of this...pasty...flavor mud? Thats the best way I could describe it, anyway it pooled up inside the clams and mussels too much and I found myself shaking and spooning it off. It didn't look too appetizing, but tasted fine. The place was clean, waitresses were nice and eager for feedback. The bibbing is a bit silly...yes...they bib you! Good tasty seasoning on the seafoods. Shrimp is fresh and delicious. $10/lb, little cheaper than Boiling Crab. Not crowded and waiting time is usually between 15-30 mins on busy time. Place is little small, they may expand if space is available next door. Next to boba place, perfect for post shrimp eating. They also let you bring your boba from next door. Just went today for my first time! First off I want to start off by saying I was served by Gabby! She was by herself waitressing and did such an amazing job! She was very attentive to all the tables she had. She brought out napkins, condiments, poured refills and made sure not to forget to check on all the customers she did an amazing job by herself! Shout out to you Gabby! Great customer service and work ethics! Second the prices were a great deal and they serve you so much frys that I had to ask for a to_go box. Lol ....thirdly the food was so amazing! It was a great portion and I got full off of 1lb of shrimp and potatoes and cajun frys. So I got their little bit of everything combo, when I got it it smelled extra fishy but it's seafood so I just figured it had been a long time since I had seafood and the smell was normal. So it was delivered via doordash, the lady had everything from the restaurant to have a proper meal. A mat, bib, plenty of lines and of course the meal. I opened the bag and the first thing I notice is everything is warm which is great. I got a pound of mixed shrimp, muscles and clams. The sauce was very thick almost like a thickening agent was added. I was not expecting that and it was very disgusting, I got down to my last three shrimps and they were mushy so they got thrown away right away because yea that would have been all bad. They charge for potatoes and corn as well, my overall would be I may give this place a chance one more time but I'm just gonna get garlic butter next time. read more

I used to go to the Boiling Crab because our local Inland Empire eateries never tasted quite the same. However, I am staring to notice a positive change. Rockstar Shrimp is one of those positives. Food is good, service is great and place is fun. The only real negative is it is a bit small, so if it's busy might be a wait. We waited about 15 minutes. Went with the 4th level of spicy, it's not super spicy, so I'd recommend either 3rd or 4th. Maybe the 5th is too spicy. Had quite a lot of fun and the servers were all nice. Had the feeling of a family restaurant. I'll definitely recommend this to friends for sure. Only had the shrimp which was good so cannot comment on other food. Also parking is a bit weird. The lot says 1 hour only, which seems so short, not sure if it's enforced or not. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Pretty much a copy cat of Boiling Crab. Not as great as Boiling Crab (of course), but very similar. It definitely satisfied my appetite. Overall, I like the flavors. Less oil would be nice. I used to love visiting rockstar shrimp. Now I only go because my friends make me....I used to crave the "Kick Me" shrimp all the time but one of the last times I went the sauce was bland no flavor :( that really sucked...so I decided to give them another try I figured maybe they had an off day and again I visit tonight my shrimp is bland no flavor. I ordered the red potatoes I think they were overcooked super mushy...the limes we were given had that nasty old taste to them I didn't even bother using them. The fries were yummy so was the edamame and my peach tea. But that's about it. Service is always fast and the waitress's are friendly. read more
