These guys are busy as hell with repairs but still gave me top notch service. I read some of the reviews on here and it seems people these days expect instantaneous gratification or else they leave a bad review. Well suck it up buttercups. I have been dealing with bike shops for decades and this one tries really hard to give great customer service. So, realize, it takes up to a week to get a repair done due to the fact they are the only shop in town. THIS IS NORMAL whiny snowflakes. Learn to be patient. read more

Such a helpful mom/pop establishment. Where me and the family were riding out bikes they were doing yard work on the trail. Long story short I ran over some "Goat-heads" and popped my tire. Rockville bike was able to see me that day, fix the issues and even put my bike together correctly. I purchased my bike through Walmart and paid the fee for it to be put together and the guy to my wheel on backwards. They fixed and made the changes for me within an hour to hour and a half. I even upgraded my bike with a basket with there cute accessories. Next time I will definitely go to them to purchase our bikes. read more

My local shop ignored me for the third time today, so I called Rockville to ask about replacement tires. They were helpful over the phone, and were able to change the tires on my bike today, despite being super busy with lots of flat tires to fix. For me it's worth the 15 mile drive to be treated nicely and have quality work done. I just read some of the bad reviews and that was not my experience at all. I recommend them. read more

Got two tubes replaced on my bike and ended up getting a flat the first time riding it. I wish the staff informed me that there were thorns all over Fairfield area that pop bicycle tires since they mentioned most of their business comes from this particular thorn. So coming back they suggested to get slime in the tube and a rubber guard in between the tire and tube. So I basically Wasted money the first time. Can't really blame them for my inexperience but just wish they helped me out the first time around. read more

You don't see too many these bike shops nowadays especially locally owned. No concern for customer service. I had wheels built and was waiting for the place to open so I could pay and claim my wheels. Witch took 3 weeks. Then they insisted I wait while they put bikes out in front of the store. Rude and if I had to guess I'd say shop full of tweekers smh. So I have the wheels mounted and they look like shit. replaced half the spokes and half the nipples but charged me for the full set of both. So now I'm sure these weren't done correctly. Cause they used some of the old spokes witch would be too long. So I have to grind where the spokes go into the rim cause the threaded part of the spokes would just pop the tube. I have 2 half shinny wheels and half dirty. What a joke taking them to a real bike shop 1st thing tomorrow to have these built correctly. read more

This bike shop charged me over 387 dollars for a tune up. I had them put new bars put on and put two tires on that I supplied.I did buy some 14 dollar grips from them.I asked them what did the 70 dollar tune up cover.She said instead of paying 25 dollars per cable you were only charged 10 per cable.I asked what was the other 300 dollars for? Why didnt you give me an estimate before hand because I never in a million years thought this job would cost me almost 400 dollars! Other bike shops charge 400 dollars for a complete strip down and rebuild and these rip offs didn't even clean my drivetrain.I will never go back to that bike shop.Oh and one more thing they gave me back my old tires but forgot to give me my specialized handlebars. read more

Don't believe all the bad reviews!! I took two bikes here for the first time. Both had flat ties and needed repair. First off, the helped unload the bikes from the truck and second, they didn't charge me a thing! They put air in the tires and checked them after 24/48 hours to make sure they kept the air and they were fine. They said "bikes are ready for pick up-no charge" I couldn't believe that there was no service fee for this. They even helped load them back in the truck! I'm glad I still decided to go even though there were so many bad reviews. read more

Holy smokes! These people are rude af. I was nothing but nice to them and they treated me with an UNBELIEVABLE condescending aditude. All I needed was a front tire popped in and a mild brake adjustment and they wanted to con me so badly into a full tune up. I wanted them to just do something that takes less than 5 minutes to do and they wanted to charge me a $60 rush fee on top of a $60 labor fee. And could not have been more rude about it. They really treated me like a child and it made me feel really awkward and uncomfortable. They literally could have made the easiest $30 in the world but they showed me paperwork pertaining to other customers jobs in front of me! These guys are off their rockers. Would definitely not recommend. read more

I went there today to try to get a chain back on and lady was immediately saying that everything was wrong with it. I keep telling her that it worked fine but if she could just give me price I don't just want a giant bill in that case I would just buy a new bike it's a kids bike she keeps saying that everything is wrong with it and couldn't tell me a price but I would be over 60$ mechanic was trying to help with she ended walking off because I told her my budget was around 60$ and laughed. Would never return again not every one is rich around the area and most of us are on a budget I don't think is unreasonable to know how much a job is to make sure I can afford it. read more

My favorite employee who works there is Dave. I live down the street and I would come in when I need some help with my bikes. Yesterday, I accidentally broke an aluminum screw on a bike and lost it's head. Dave was awesome enough to unscrew it with these plier/tweezer-type tool and was able to find another screw to replace it. I'm sure everyone knows how important screws are, and this was attached to my handlebar, which made my handlebar wobbly! Yay for Dave - no more wobbly handlebars! I found this really cool red light to put on the back of my helmet (I've always been weirded out that someone will steal it from the back of my bike since they are so easily removeable. They're called "Loop" and you attach it to the back of your helmet (see pic). The property manager also told me that he found his dream bike for 50% off. He was ranting that he loved it! I think they were clearing out inventory, which is why he got a great deal. I found out from Dave yesterday that they have a couple of mountain bikes for rent for people who want to ride Rockville Park for $35 (?), which is something they didn't offer last year. Yes, I came in last year and they had no rental bikes. I highly recommend coming in. Really friendly service and you should support small business owners. read more

John and Esther are knowledgeable, professional and carry a good selection of bikes, accessories and equipment. They'll give you safety tips, riding techniques and hints on proper bike maintenance. We ordered a KHS tandem assembled by bike mechanic extraordinaire John and ready for pick up in a week. While Esther was ringing us up she said, "You're buying a mirror." No gimmicky sales pitches, no talking us into it. It was more a command, but I loved it. She's all about safety for her customers. So after a week on the tandem, here are some learnings: * Good communication is key. Starting and stopping in unison was the biggest challenge, but doing a countdown and being consistent with mounting (the bike) on the same side helps. As the front rider or captain, Pru has to tell me everything he's doing--turning, slowing down, stopping--and I have to listen. * Trust is even more essential. Since I don't have x-ray vision to see through Pru's 'fat ass' (his words, not mine--I swear), I rely on him to see potholes, other bikers, oncoming cars, etc. As the rear rider or stoker, I abdicate complete control to Pru. * Denial is not so bad. We were on a trail last night, Alameda Creek, and on the other side of the trail was a vertical drop of I don't know how high--but it was high enough. I didn't think about the drop and just admired the view of the bay and the Dumbarton Bridge at sunset. read more

If your thinking of coming and doing business here I would rethink it and go somewhere that's honest and upfront on pricing and dosnt switch prices after you do a deposit. I brought my bike in for repairs I was quoted $85 and some change for part and $25 for labor I paid $45 for deposit on parts and I paid $25 upfront for labor so that leaves me owing $40. Fast forward to the pick up the guy helping me didn't even know how to ring anyone up had to keep calling someone to be instructed on what to do (same guy who originally helped me) was charging me $69 and some change and the $25 labor he said was never paid even tho I had receipts from my original interaction with him we went back and forth and the prices he was telling me kept changing and he became loud and stared yelling at me telling me I had to wait for his boss to get my bike back after I had to pay the "extra" charges I would just go to a different more honest shop in the future and if you do business with them make sure you get everything down In writing or at least speak to someone who knows how to use the pos system and doesn't have to call his boss to ring you up read more

Other than walking into this place, my biggest mistake was not believing ALL THE BAD REVIEWS. The woman was extremely rude, condescending, and shrewd. Unless you're a professional cyclist, don't bother with this place... although, I would avoid them regardless. They just don't care about their customers, and it shows! Amazing people here, very friendly and skillful. The store has a good selection of items and a nice array of bikes. Love to share stories or knowledge with you as well. Didn't know my bike was in need of maintenance until I spun my rear bearings. They found the correct replacement based off the mangled remains I brought in. Prices were great as well. (Totally my fault again, since I didn't have the wheel with me to fit the ring bearing in) From now on, this is the place I will always go for bike parts. The only place i'll take my bike for repairs. The staff is friendly, helpful and very knowlwedgable. They never tried to upsell me and I actually spent less on my tuneup than they said it would be. My bike is an old schwin from the late 80s that hasnt been rode since then, it now rides like a brand new bike and it cost far less than a new bike wouldve been. I cant wait to buy more gear at rockville bike!!! read more

Used to come here back in the day for bicycle parts and recommendations, but not anymore because of the rudeness of the woman I dealt with behind the counter. I had just bought a new bike at the time and the seat that came with it was hard as a rock and made riding super uncomfortable. The woman who I dealt with showed me the selection of bicycle seats the store has and said I could try them out as long as there were no other customers in the store. It was a slow day so that wasn't an issue. I try on 2 bicycle seats and then she says "I can't let you do this all day, just pick one!" Ok then why say I can try them all out? She also had a rude tone to her after I told her I had paid $250 for the bike. It's a surprise that anybody continues to buy from them with that kind of attitude. I would not recommend this place at all. I walked in and waited 15 minutes for someone to realize I was in there for service. Eventually Ester took down what I wanted done and said come back next Wednesday. The work I asked to be performed was only a chain install. When I returned to pick up my bike they had done extra work on the bike above and beyond what I had requested. They claimed I had requested work on my brake caliber and my front tire. I never requested this nor did they ever call me to clarify the additional work. At the time they gave me the bill and I questioned it she became rude and said well there is nothing we can do now so the price is still 160. I said no I am not going to pay for the work I did not authorize. John said well I can take 25 dollars off by taking out the Sealant in the front tire. I said you can't just take it out and expect it to seal again and he said we are closing so you need to pay so I payed and I went back down there 2 days later. when I had time and I said my chain is now clicking and that you guys charged me 60$ more then you should have and she said no and then I said why did you even mess with the brake and the front tire and John nor ester could answer that. They then proceeded to tell me they could give me a 60$ store credit and I said no I want a refund and they told my to leave and never come back and then I said how I am going to use my store credit if I am not allowed back in and they said leave and take us to small claim court. After this horrible experience I read other Yelp reviews and found out that I am not the only person that they have done unauthorized work and then charged for the work . I don't recommend this establishment for any type of bike work at all. read more
