The sign outside that says awesome sandwiches is correct. Stopped in today on the way home from a weekend trip to New Haven. Family run, cute little shop with some local items. I was greeted right away and my food took maybe 5 mins to make. I got my favorite standard sub, an Italian mix with a bit of customization (add the spicy pepper spread!!). It's so good and the bread is fresh. A full sub and a bag of chips was about $15. Not too shabby considering it's really like two meals worth of food. Have been going to VT for 40+ years, don't recall how long this place has been around and have seen the sign AWESOME sandwiches for years, was never able to stop in because they were closed. Finally I had the opportunity, was traveling mid day. There were couple cars parked in front, noticed, I believe 4 cafe tables outside. I walked in and there were 3 or 4 people being served at the deli counter. The place is small, clean and neat. There were 2 cafe tables indoors. I perused the menu and the blackboard for daily specials - there was goulash as a special. I finally settled on, I believe it was called The Dude special - roast beef, something, something, cheese and coleslaw on a roll, chips & a coke. Had the sandwich while driving - it was AWESOME, liked the slaw & the chips - Uncle Rays brand and a notice on the front of the bag - Not to be sold in CA They do have awesome sandwiches and if you have the opportunity, give them a try. read more

Stop at this location by chance while driving back home. It was lunchtime and I was not sure where there was a place to eat. Well their sign was great and big on the road telling me to stop and I did. Walking in it is a nice and small kind of deli with some snack food as well as local jams and jellies for sale as well as fresh honey. As soon as I walked in the 2 ladies greater me and that is a great sign that they truly care. I ordered the Moutianer, from all the selections they have. This was your standard roast beef with cheese LTMMO on it. They use Boars Head meats just an FYI. That grinder was good. The bread was fresh like it was made that day. All and all a great grinder. Always stop in for subs for lunch before camping and the Boars Head meat is always good but then the bread the use is delicious. Never have had bad sub from our favorite local sub shop. Don't go here hungry. New York City prices for tiny portions. Got a sandwich on a roll, which is a burger bun not a hard roll and it had the smallest amount of deli meat and one piece of cheese. He was telling me of this super sub he created, and just finished one. It was massive! Once wrapping it up and placing it in a bag, he said said feel the weight of this thing. It was very heavy! As he did, I saw real excitement in his eyes. So we talked a bit about the sandwiches, and I seen he was out to make the best sandwiches around, load them up good, and well, just thrive to have the best he can get it to be. And I really respect that! Folks worry to much about profit. He though, takes less profit to make the best at a good price. And it works. I see a lot more sandwiches go out of there than previous owners. Which were cheap roll, skimpy meat and veggies. So yeah, I respect that. HELLS NO! Not awesome in any way shape or form. We've passed this place 100 times and finally we stopped to grab some sandwiches for lunch on the way home from skiing. All I can say is- 4 sandwiches in the car, 4 people said they were just horrible. If you are microwaving stuff for your egg sandwiches, don't sell egg sandwiches. If you are making chicken salad, the mayo to chicken ratio isn't 2:1 The rolls sucked, the bacon was sooo bad and barely cooked. This is a one and done for us. NEVER EVER again. The signs should just say sandwiches instead of "awesome sandwiches". And, for that matter, that should be italicized.
