Absolutely adorable sandwich stop. Tons of options. Staff is polite, friendly and helpful. It's a skiers dream to pop in and grab breakfast or lunch. While you wait, learn a little about Rutland's history. Note: NO public restroom here.

Have been going to VT for 40+ years, don't recall how long this place has been around and have seen the sign AWESOME sandwiches for years, was never able to stop in because they were closed. Finally I had the opportunity, was traveling mid day. There were couple cars parked in front, noticed, I believe 4 cafe tables outside. I walked in and there were 3 or 4 people being served at the deli counter. The place is small, clean and neat. There were 2 cafe tables indoors. I perused the menu and the blackboard for daily specials - there was goulash as a special. I finally settled on, I believe it was called The Dude special - roast beef, something, something, cheese and coleslaw on a roll, chips & a coke. Had the sandwich while driving - it was AWESOME, liked the slaw & the chips - Uncle Rays brand and a notice on the front of the bag - Not to be sold in CA They do have awesome sandwiches and if you have the opportunity, give them a try.

Great find! Had a Reuben sandwich - delicious, rye bread was toasted nicely, generous portion of corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese.

The breakfast food is incredible, typically by Tyler-- a great cook and Chef. The breakfast burrito is out of this world. (As for it Tyler's way!) the coffee and lattes are truly very high-quality, but not overly pretentious. And if you know, then you know, when a coffee shop does it up too much and their prices are astronomical. That is not this place, they balance it perfectly by having good quality beans, roasted perfectly good quality, food, and breakfast items that makes starting your day such a treat by coming here. And lastly, the kickstart name comes from the owner's being motorcycle enthusiasts. The inside decor has a really cool and funky vibe to it with really awesome artwork and even a motorcycle inside. If you're looking for coffee, shops, and decent breakfast, do not hesitate to stop here!

Unfortunately, I can't speak to their food, but I do hope to return and try some soon. The motorcycle themed cafe is beautifully decorated and creates a space that you can comfortably work in or hang out with friends and family. It's warm, welcoming and inviting. I tried their Cinnamon Mocha Latte with almond milk and it was perfection in a cup. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming, and happy to answer any questions you have. I highly recommend Kickstart Cafe!

We had the dark roast and would have thought it would be a little more robust in flavor but it wasn't. It seemed a bit weak like not enough coffee used or the roast wasn't roasted dark enough. The service was great however so that was a plus. Nice and friendly staff all the way around. There were a lot of locals there so it seems to do a decent business. But to be honest, it's the only coffee house in town. The place seemed a bit dark and dirty. The exhaust system must be not working or not strong enough because the entire place smelled of what ever was being cooked on the griddle. We sat upstairs and our eyes watered the entire time we were there. The odor got on our clothes and stuck with us until we got home. Their restroom wasn't clearly marked and was kind of hidden back by the kitchen area. It was also very dark where it was located. A little more light all the way around would be helpful. The concept and decor is a great idea but it felt more like what we use to call a "greasy spoon" restaurant than a quaint coffee house. It won't take much to make it better but as it is, can't say much good about the experience it Iron Coffee Co. I hope they take this review in a positive light as there really isn't much that needs to be done to make it a very special place to go for coffee. Note: We didn't have anything to eat so can't comment on that.

I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.
