Rocky Rococo Pizza: For most of my teenage years and twenties, Rocky's was my go-to pizza chain. Although there are multiple locations, the chain is primarily in Wisconsin. The first restaurant opened in my college town of Madison back in 1974. They're known for my favorite type of pizza, which is pan style. In the context of a fast-food pizza chain, their crust is thick, soft, chewy, and flavorful. I'm usually a cheese pizza guy most of the time, but if you like sausage Rocky's sausages are massive. As many fond memories as I have of Rocky's, it's been a few years as I felt that on my last trip the pie fell kind of flat. By flat I mean that the pizza was a little bland. My palate has simply evolved as I've tried more non-chain pizza parlors (I mean when I was five, I would have said McDonald's had the best tasting cheeseburgers in the world). My dad recently had Rocky's for his birthday celebration, so I gave them another chance. For this review, my slice had sausages, mushrooms, and onions. It didn't fall flat as the meteor sized sausages supplied plenty of additional flavor. The mushrooms and onions were less noticeable but didn't hurt. I found the breadsticks to have a nice buttery and garlic flavor, but texturally, they were a little hard and tasted like something from a fast-food restaurant as opposed to freshly baked. For a chain/fast food pizza joint I would still recommend Rocky's, but unlike my undergrad days it is no longer my go to pizza. Hi. I haven't even had the pizza yet, but the experience so far hasn't been great. The girl with orange/red hair at the drive-thru was really rude over the speaker and had an attitude when we pulled up to pay, shaking her head and everything. If you don't like your job, maybe find something else to do. Hopefully the pizza's better than the service. I've got her name on the receipt too. read more

Tried to use a coupon when I came in. Without hesitation, the cashier said "same price" and sounded completely indifferent. He could have just declined the coupon, but instead he threw it in the garbage, so now I can't use it later. Really a letdown, because the pizza itself was actually good. read more

I am very excited to see that there are new items on Rocky's menu when I stopped in this week. What are these new pizzas? Do you ever dip pizza in ranch? Would you ever dip a ranch-sauced pizza in marinara? These are interesting questions to consider. I'm a big fan of the soft, chewy crust and breading that the pizzas at Rocky's are composed of. The 3 new pizzas perfectly highlight this softer quality of crust! I really love that. Now offering Chicken Bacon Ranch, I'm impressed by how Rocky's thought about what would make their special pizzas different from the rest. I encourage you to try them out while considering more flavors for dipping. New pan-style pies with chicken and ranch are available in small - large sizes and they give just about as much taste satisfaction as the regular version. WHAT MAKES THE RANCH EVEN BETTER is dipping each bite into a side of the traditional marinara sauce. COMBINING THE TWO SAUCES IS KEY for the most deliciousness. read more

I would not recommend coming to this location.. the service is poor to mediocre. The location is unclean and HAIR came in my pizza. They were out of almost everything on the menu. I've only been to this location twice-- both experiences were horrible. 2 stars is being generous. read more

I remember Rocky Rococo from my childhood. My mom thought it was the worst pizza ever. I was kinda intrigued by it. Was always blinded by the awesomeness of their Italian sausage. It's just so good that I'll accept their pizza being mediocre. Had to give it a try after driving past it again on a quick holiday visit to my hometown. Loved their quick drive through and reasonable prices. I want to say $7 for a slice and breadsticks. Their Italian sausage is still the best ever. I've never had sausage as big and flavourful any other place. 5 stars for this alone! The pizza is thick and doughy. Moderately cheesy. I like the flavour of the cheese. Good portion and ratio of sauce. Sauce is nothing to write home about, a bit thin, but it works. Breadsticks come with 2 ramekins of marinara, likely same as on their pizza. They could probably give one out and customers would be happy. I didn't use any as I was eating while driving (passenger ;). They have a definite artificial buttery taste. They were alright. I have been a fan of Rocky's going back to my days at UW-Madison in the mid-1980s. There were locations on State Street and another just off State Street & Gilman. I ate at Rocky's at least 3-4 times a week. I would get a slice of Sausage and a Whole Wheat muffin. It cost around $2 and it was line two meals. So, going to Rocky's tasted great and saved me money. Later, a friend told me to try the Sausage & Roni Super Slice. It's been my Go-To slice for 30+ years. I have been to most of the Rocky's from SE WI to Madison and the quality is consistent and that Italian Sausage is sooo good. In fact, the Italian Sausage is some of the best you'll find and right up there with the homemade sausage at some of my friends' Italian restaurants. During my visit....from start to finish....the manager and staff provided service that I would deem "above and beyond". Very cordial and accommodating. The interaction between us made me feel welcomed. Conducive to a family-oriented atmosphere and even more so towards an individual. Kudos to conducting outstanding business! Went in to quickly order for take out. I was asked to wear a mask. I stated I did not have one. The cashier asked me to leave. Great business model!! Keep in mind that there were four people dining in the dining room not wearing masks one was up getting a soda. Rediculous. read more

Rockys is Rockys. Same great pizza I remember. Same breadsticks. Same everything. Consistency is important with chains and this one was no different. The one thin I did notice was the service. Uninterested cashiers and workers that were there just Doing their jobs and not really worried about customer experience and service they provided. My cashier looked very young, and I know it was likely the end of her shift, however service can go a long way, especially in a well known chain like this one. read more

came a few minutes before close, which yes i understand sucks. there were also customers in the drive thru line behind us. we gave the card to the lady to pay and while the window is still open she starts going off saying something along the lines of "OH MY GOD why y'all coming, we're about to close". which i understand is very frustrating, trust me we've all been there, but that is SO unbelievably unprofessional and horrible customer service. wait to complain until you're no longer by the customers. be respectful or next time i'll come 1 minute before closing and won't feel bad. read more

The food is good. Customer Service is lacking. I had a coupon for a super slice and drink. I wanted to buy an additional regular slice but was told she couldn't do that for me. I was able to add breadsticks though. I even reminded her to ring me up and charge me for the regular slice. Was told she couldn't do that. I love Rocky's breadsticks. I love Rocky's marinara/pizza sauce. The only complaint I have is that Rocky's is not consistent enough. There have been many times that the pizza just does not have enough sauce or sometimes even cheese.
