With folks visiting from out of town we had a hankering for some deep dish pizza. So we ordered Lou Malnatis since most in our group had not tried it, and then went to pick it up, and service was good. There is no "ambiance" as this is a take-out only place. We ordered the "Buffalou Chicken" and the "Deep Dish the Lou" (which was vegetarian, with spinach, mushrooms, basil, garlic, and topped with sliced tomatoes). The verdict on the two pizzas: The Buffalou Chicken had good flavor, we all agreed. But most of the pizza was crust - we wanted a bit more of a topping layer. Still it tasted good, and we liked they included little packets of oregano, parmesan, and hot chili flakes as toppings. The Lou pizza was also tasty, and the fresh sliced tomatoes on the top provided a nice tangy flavor. Also with this one, we felt the crust was a little much and we wanted more topping. But maybe that is part of the "deep dish" style - it's a bit different than some of the other deep dish pizzas we've tried. This pizza is good quality, good tasting, and very filling. It's tasty, although I wouldn't say it's my favorite, as I'm still on a quest for that favorite pizza. My personal preference nowadays is a thinner and crisper crust with a wood-fired taste and flavorful toppings, so keep that in mind when reading my review. Date of visit: February 18, 2024 We haven't tried Lou Malnati's since the early days of the pandemic; it's a bit more expensive than other pizza options and my husband wasn't a huge fan of their deep dish. But we decided to give them another try due to the heart-shaped pizzas and the donation to Feeding America - Eastern Wisconsin for each pizza purchased and overall it was just okay. The heart-shaped pizzas were good but very small for the price; I would have been better off getting regular pizzas and just donating a couple dollars to Feeding America. Food was ready on time, which was nice. To Go garlic cheese bread is oddly packaged, wouldn't recommend that the way that it is in the container. read more

The wings were soft and lacked flavor. I had to add my own sauce. Big disappointment. My brother in law bragged about the location in Brookfield but Fox Point was closer to me. One word... Great and delicious deep dish. My favorite is pepperoni and garlic. They pack the pizza nicely too which ensures the toppings are not wasted. They also have think pizza but the deep dish is very tasty and authentic. I used to go to the dine in Buffalo Grove location and it is the same delicious pizza. Drove 100 miles round trip to buy three deep dish pies for NYE. I visit Illinois often and normally stop when I'm there, but decided to give this location a try. I cannot even stress in words how absolutely inedible they all are. No air in the dough, just rock hard slabs of hard something-that-is-not-real-dough. My kitchen was in disarray after painting all day so decided to order some much needed takeout for a late/lunch early dinner. Nothing sounded good so I figured I'd try a deep dish since Lou Malnati's is still fairly new to the area. I did curbside pickup and it was a great experience, they were prompt and came out with my pizza almost immediately(even though I arrived a minute or 2 earlier than the estimated time) So I had the Malnati Chicago Classic with added pepperoni and an order of boneless lemon pepper wings with gorgonzola dressing(instead of bleu cheese) Yeah...the pizza was good, but I wished I wouldn't have tried the wings first, they were honestly so good I didn't even want pizza...OH AND THAT GORGONZOLA dressing was AMAZING. Everything was great, but super rich. I had to practice some self control because really I could've easily overate and ended up with a stomachache. I did get a chance to eat the pizza the next day and I didn't realize its like a huge sausage patty they put on the bottom of the crust so its actually really "meaty" for a pizza. But what IS true is that I will now always prefer to order pizza from Lou Malnati's! Folks, we FINALLY have a Chicago deep-dish pizza haven! No longer will I need to drive to Chicago when I cannot deal with my ever-constant craving I get for this beautiful masterpiece of a food. My husband and I ordered a large pizza and cheesy bread for pickup. With this COVID-19 Safer at Home order in place, the business is closed to the public. An employee brings your order out to you upon your arrival. You do need to plan ahead because things this good take time! We ordered on a Thursday evening, and it was an hour - perhaps a bit longer - until the food was in the car and on it's way home. I loved every single bite! I love the flavor and texture of the crust. The tomato sauce is packed with flavor. All of the ingredients just taste fresh. It brought so much joy and happiness into my life. The cheese bread. Get it, just do it. The marinara is A++ in my opinion and bread and the cheese are heavenly. What wasn't eaten warmed up really well in the microwave and tasted almost as good as when it was freshly made. It is very cheesy!!! The only thing that could be better is if it was a dine-in location. I very much enjoyed the LM restaurant experience I had at one of the Chicago locations a while back. The colorful, fun design and sturdy packaging did enhance the fact that this was "take out." You can tell a lot about a place by how it presents it's food when ordered to go - this quality packaging was definitely indicative of the quality of our food!! It is more $$ than the local chains or pizza restaurants but 100% WORTH IT. FYI - if you want the sauce on the top of your 'za definitely specify that upon order. Our was lacking that feature but it didn't really matter, it was nestled in between layers of cheese and topping. I was really happy when I heard that Lou Malnatis was opening a restaurant close to the office I work at in Fox Point. It's always good news to have more restaurants nearby! I've ordered from their pizzeria twice. My first order, which was right before the lockdown occurred, was for a personal size deep dish Malnati Classic. There are both online and over the phone ordering options, and this time I chose online. My pizza was ready for pickup right when I expected, was boxed in a custom and unique pizza box, and was perfectly cooked. Their trademarked "buttercrust" is as delicious as it sounds, and I particularly liked to wait to eat the raised edges last. There is not a bad part of this pizza, with flavorful sauce above a thick melted layer of cheese. The second time I ordered was over the phone during the lockdown. They are doing carry out only, and I wanted to pick up dinner so I didn't need a warm pizza. What a great idea for them to offer frozen pizzas! I ordered two sausage pizzas (they're only available in a size of 9", which feeds about two people). This time I didn't need any lead time for them to prepare my order - I simply called, drove to their store and they handed me the pizza while I sat in the car. Super quick and convenient. I can assuage your worries about the quality of the pizza suffering from it being frozen. This pizza was exactly as delicious coming from my oven as it is coming from theirs, and was piping hot to boot. I might resort to buying their frozen pizza much more often. read more

Ordered take out from here last Friday since I was going to be in the area. They are a busy place so I would suggest ordering online. I scheduled a 5:30 pick up and it was ready around 5:35, so not a long wait but there seemed to be a few people who either had to wait because their order may have gotten lost. We ordered a personal crustless pizza and a personal Lou along with an order of wings. I must have forgotten how small those personal pizza's are and for the price absolutely not worth it. (on a separate note the nutritional guide made it seem like you got 6 slices but really it's 4). The medium order of wings got you 8 wings for an average cost of $1.25 per wing which is pretty close to in line with other places. I actually really enjoyed the crustless pizza and it suited my needs. The Lou was a different story. My wife had two slices and couldn't stomach it anymore. I tried a slice to find that the crust had no flavor outside of the oily... almost like burnt oil. It made the pizza rather unappealing and can see why she didn't want to finish it. The wings were good sized and were nice and juicy. We preferred the hot sauce over the BBQ. Based on our experience I don't see us ever going back. The cost of the meal did not live up to the quality. I can see the appeal for many people and perhaps the larger pizza's are better but for the money, I don't want to risk that. read more

Hmmmm....sad to say the pizza was not as good as what we get down in the Chicago area. The crust was off (super dry and more biscuit like). Normally, I wait for a place to be open for awhile before trying, but figured since they have so many carry out locations in the Chicago metro area it shouldn't be a problem. I am a fan of Lou Malnati's. Not only do they have the ordering process down, they provide excellent food, that is well prepared, packaged, and ready for pick up. We ordered "The Lou" medium pizza, pasta, and a salad. Bill was $50 as expected. The location was neat and clean, and the staff helpful and focused on their job. The pizza came hot, and tasty as was the pasta and salad. No complaints. They recommend not cutting the pizza until home, which I believe helps with the quality of the product. 3 stars at best for our first Lou's experience today. Ordered 2 medium par baked pizzas for just over $50...yikes! Instructions were essentially the same for baking the medium thin as the deep dish. Cooked both significantly over suggested time and they still would have been better going longer. Sauce, cheese and sausage were very tasty. The peppers and onions didn't taste very fresh but were not bad. Absolutely not worth the money on the par baked option, but I will give one more shot at some point with them fully preparing it. Perhaps it's my own fault for even taking out, but I figured they wouldn't offer takeout pizza if the quality was going to suffer to this point. Definitely better than the competition. We love Lou Malnati's and we drive to Illinois all the time for the deep dish, so we were extremely excited when there was one being opened 20 minutes from us. It could really use some work though, to be honest. First of all, for being deep dish, it's not very deep. Compared to the Chicago locations, it's like half the thickness, half the toppings, half the sauce. Even being halfway there, it's still better than competitors. The deep dish we usually get is SMOTHERED in sauce and tomatoes. This one, you can actually see the cheese and pepperoni on the pizza. When I saw that, I was already kind of weary about trying it. When I was ordering online, I wanted to put extra sauce, but I decided against it so we could see how it normally is here without customization. So now I know next time to get extra sauce. The amount of cheese was also just not there. I normally am unable to eat an entire slice in one sitting. I ate my whole piece this time. We love the fact that they use the same kind of parmesan cheese as Ill. We enjoyed the pizza, but if we are going to pay the same amount as other locations, we'll just drive to Gurnee or Chicago. I understand it will take a while to get the new restaurant tweaked to make a true Lou Malnati's pizza so we will try it again in a few months. The pizza we got was very dry with very little sauce. I typically like the pizza here, it's the service that leaves a lot to be desired. On several occasions I have had issues with my order. I have an allergy to mushrooms and asked they not be placed on my salad and they were, or I asked for cheese bread only to get garlic bread, but last night I ordered a med classic got home to realize I got a small which would have been okay as I called and they were going to refund the difference, but when I cut it I realized it wasn't a classic but peppers and onions which was not what I ordered. I called back and they were willing to remake my pizza but it was going to take a half hour so now I'm eating and hour or so later than I wanted and still had to drive back again to get it plus they forgot the dressing for my salad. I bring back the mistake pizza and ask for dressing, they then bring out my pizza, but the manager doesn't even come out to apologize. I do ask for him and I have to wait. When he does come out I explain to him my frustration and he tells me he isn't the normal manager but will tell the person in charge about this and he doesn't even offer a refund for my trouble. I do tell him I am never ordering from this location again as now I'm very upset. I hope who ever is in charge reads this and has a conversation with the staff as how to handle mistakes because you are going to keep losing customers if you don't. I will say the pizza was very good when I got home but still I'm disappointed in everything that transpired . read more

The pizza we are forced to consume, because we paid for it, is a soggy, mess of tomatoes and cheese. No flavor to the sauce and the crust is nearly shapeless and soggy. We ordered the family sized Caesar salad and we dumped it a larger bowl to toss with the dressing and there was an inch of water on the bottom of the container from the restaurant. After draining the water off as best we could, the lettuce was still too wet for the dressing to stick. We were left with a puddle of Caesar flavored water. Nope. Ordered a large deep dish: 1/2 sausage onion and mushroom and 1/2 cheese. The most bland pizza I've ever eaten, hands down. Didn't even keep the leftovers and it cost $30! Sauce is not a sauce, just crushed tomatoes with no seasoning or flavor. Seriously-I pulled an entire 1/2 smashed tomato from the top of the pizza with stem and skin still on it! VERY little sausage and even that's was flavorless (how the hell did they even find bland sausage?). LOTS of onion so that a was a the dominant flavor. The texture of the deep dish was perfect so it was really a shame it was so bland as well. Never again. Really disappointing. read more

I ordered online a sausage thin crust and garlic bread with marinara sauce. I ordered well in advance and forgot to use the free delivery coupon. No biggie. I didn't like the deep dish so I thought what could go wrong with thin crust. I ordered for 6 pm delivery and it came at almost 630 by door dash (!). The food was ice cold, flavorless and the thin crust was definitely crispy, even extra. What a waste of 35 bucks. Never again. I'll stick to Jets. Always warm and hot and perfect. read more

Not quite there yet. It's good, but not as good as the Chicagoland locations. At least not yet. I'm expecting it will improve with time. But right now it's not there yet. I've ordered from them 3 times now. They've gotten better each time but still not as good or consistent as UNO's or the Chicago Lou locations. But this is way closer. Let's hope it gets better quickly. Also use the app or website. If you're ordering at the counter expect to wait 40 min at least. An hour or more if it's busy. Don't be those people. This place is NOT like the Malnati's locations in Chicago. My wife ordered a gluten-free pizza from here and it was horrible. The crust tasted like cardboard. This was surprising since she ordered one in Chicago last year and really enjoyed it. She just tried a gluten-free pizza from Domino's and said it was a lot better than the one from this Fox Point location. They don't know what they're doing. Malnati's HQ should shut it down before they tive the name a bad reputation. read more

My wife and I had lived in Chicago for a number of years and Lou Malnati's always held a spot for our favorite deep dish in Chicago (Pequod's and Uno's as well). However, it has been a while since we had it. So, we were excited to learn of the new Fox Point location. I tried to order a pizza for pickup the day before at around 4 pm, but there was over a three hour wait. So the next day, at Noon I put in an order for the Original for pick up at 6. Although there was a lot of people, I was helped quickly and within minutes had my pizza and was heading home. Like I mentioned, it has been a while since I have had a Lou Malnati's, but this one tasted largely as I remembered and was delicious. I will say that there was an excessive amount of grease. When I brought the pizza in, grease had dripped out of a corner of the box and all across the floor. The next day, I notice a very large pool ofAlso, icongealed grease on my seat where the pizza has been sitting. But, other than that, this is what I expected. It looks like they have bought a storefront a couple down from the current location and may be building out a dining room. So you may be able to dine on site soon. read more
